Issues publishing to HTML5 from Captivate 6

When publishing projects to HTML5 in Captivate 6, I am experiencing problems with click functionality in files published to HTML5. When I play the HTML5 Output in Web Browser from the captivate toolbar, the functionality works perfectly. However, when I publish and the client launches the file from their LMS, the following issues occurr:
1) If a slide has a text input box, then the subsequent slide requires only a single click. If a slide contains only a click box and it is not preceded by a text input box, two clicks are required to advance to the next step.
2) None of these behaviors exist in the SWF version. Every slide action performs on a single click.
Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.

Hi There,
Welcome To Adobe Forums.
Can you please try and upload the published output to an LMS called SCORM CLOUD.
You can also create a free trial account on scorm cloud using the following steps:
1.     Browse to to the link https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/SignUpForm
2.     Now Create your free trial account.
3.     Now publish the output in a zip format (in the form of SWF with reporting option enable)
4.     Now sign in into scorm cloud and upload the course and launch the output.
Please check and let us if it works fine.
Thanks and Regards

  • No audio in accordion interaction after publishing as HTML5 in Captivate 7

    Hi guys,
we have a problem with the accordion interaction in Captivate 7. After publishing it as an HTML5 project the audio (mp3) doesn't play on the accordion interaction slide. The interaction itself looks great and clean, and the audio plays fine in .swf and preview, but it doesn't play when published as HTML5.
Any suggestions? Do you need more info? Let me know.
    Thanks so much again,
    Nat

Add the file to your Captivate install directory Gallery > Interactions folder.  (Make a backup copy of the original file in case you need it later.)
    E.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 x64\Gallery\Interactions
Make a note of the name of the interaction. Then open a new Captivate project and from the Insert menu, select Interactions.
Find the interaction in the screen and insert it into the slide.
Then configure the interaction, publish and test.

  • Projects Published to AC from Captivate 6 have playback issues.

My end users are begining to complain about poor video playback from projects I publish to Adobe Connect using Captivate 6 64-bit on Windows 7.
They claim that slides that contain a video will either 1. never completely load, or, 2. once they do load, playback very slowly and experience audio-video sync issues.
I have a feeling it's a question of user bandwidth as I can view the projects fine from my office as well as my home network.
I experience no problems with video playback at all, neither do many of my co-workers on the same network.
End users have mentioned similar problems with other projects as well.
This particular project has 4 separate slides that contain inbedded video.
Total Project length is 39 slides.
Table of Contents is turned "OFF".
    Video Files are FLV.
Preview playback works just fine, problem only exists when viewed from Adobe Connect.
I will include as much information as I can. Here is a screenshot of the project file as it lives on Adobe Connect.
Here are the publish settings for the project in question.
And the SWF Size and Quality Settings.
And the Publish Window.  These are the settings I use to publish the project.
If this is not enough information, I will answer any questions asked and provide any additional iniformation I can.
    Thanks!

  • Can't play published projects(*.htm) from Captivate 5

    Hi,
I'm trying now a few days already to publish my Captivate 5 projects. Usually I used the *.htm format, but since my colleagues said that they can't open them, I tried it with the *.exe or *.app formats too. Sometimes it works sometimes nothing at all.
With the *.htm files, the Adobe Flash Player Security Window comes up, but neither clicking "Settings" nor "Ok" is working. The movies starts for 1 sec and disappears immediately after.
I tried different settings while publishing, Flash Player settings, changed the "SWF size and Quality settings" (*.swf is also not working by the way), used different browsers, but nothing really worked.
Any ideas how I can solve that? It's really something I need to get fixed soon :-(
    Thanks in advance
    Svenja

    Hi,
Double clicking on the '*.swf' file plays the file properly? Can you please share the information on which OS, browser and in Flash player version you are facing the Issue (.htm issue). Can you please confirm that on the colleague’s machine, Flash player ActiveX/Plugin is installed correctly and the location from where they are trying to open the file(.htm) is added as a Flash player trusted location.
What is the error message you are getting when you are trying to Open the *.exe File?.
To fix some 'Publish to .Exe' issues a patch was released. So you can try Publishing to Exe after installing the patch. The details about the patch are blogged here: http://blogs.adobe.com/captivate/2010/08/unable-to-open-exe-files-published-from-adobe-cap tivate-5.html

  • Screens go black when publishing to html5 using captivate 6

HELP!  I'm so frustrated.  When I publish a particular file to html5, there are three screens that go black.  You can hear audio, but there is just a black screen.  It works perfectly fine when I preview the project (prior to publishing).  I just downloaded the latest update and I've tried re-building those slides in a new blank project.  Nothing seems to work.  The slides just have text captions, highlight boxes and images. No effects.
    Please help?!

I was able to publish successfully to html5, but the issue is occurring with publishing to mp4.  Please help?

  • Published .avi from Captivate is shorter in Adobe Media Encoder

I published 8 slides from Captivate 4 to .avi video format.  When I play the .avi in Windows Media Player, it works great.  I'm using Adobe Media Encoder to convert it to .flv file to use in my Flash project.  When I import the .avi to AME, it's shorter and the audio on the last slide is cut off.  I tried inserting a duplicate slide with silent audio in Captivate to extend the duration by 10 seconds.  Still, the .avi is 2:57 in length and when I import it to AME it's 2:47.  It makes no difference if I extend the last silent slide to even 25 seconds.
Is this an issue with AME or with Captivate 4?  How do I fix it?
    Thank you!

Here's the info I can provide at this time:
Yes, it seems that this only affects .avi files published from Captivate.  Other .avi files reflect the correct length when imported to AME.
    Using AME CS4 4.2.0.006.
    Using Captivate CS4 4.0.0.1596.
Yes, it happens with every .avi file published from Captivate.  I've tried the following and still the last slide (#8) was cut off at the end including its audio:
extended last slide (#8) for more than a minute after the audio stops
extended the audio on the last slide (#8) by inserting silence for additional 30 seconds
added another slide (#9) after the last slide
added another slide (#9) after the last slide with 30 seconds of silent audio
I did find a temporary solution, however.  I added a transparent object (rectangle) a few seconds after the audio ended on slide 8 and when I published to .avi, Captivate recognized the added object and published the video to include the added animation.
You may download a zipped file containing the Captivate project and the published .avi from here:

  • Captivate 8 - Issue with interactions when publishing to html5

Has anyone else had difficulty with the built-in learning interactions when publishing to html5?  Are they incompatible?  We've had a few hiccups with things as we do all publishing to html5 and there seem to be some disconnects.

Thanks Shriyansh. I've emailed you with a link to download the project along with the following additional details:
Browsers I'm testing for compatability (all are up-to-date as far as I know):
    - Also, the slides that were repeating yesterday aren't repeating today
    Chrome 38.0.2125.104 m
    Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17358
    Safari for Windows 5.1.7
Firefox 33.0 (Captivate says Firefox doesn't support the content so I'm not expecting a solution for FF, however, firefox repeats the first slide very consistently)
Publish settings (pretty much the defaults):

  • Is there a way to customize HTML5 output from Captivate?

I am working on some JavaScript navigation for a project in Captivate 6 and I noticed that when it gets published as HTML5 content, every JavaScript call that is performed is followed up by a cpCmndResume = 1 in the Project.js file.  It would make sense to leave it up to the programmer to include this call if it is necessary for the code.  It causes problems when testing the slides inside Captivate.  In order to test the project, I have to publish it and edit the Project.js content to remove all of the cpCmndResume = 1 commands.  I have a navBar that pauses slides via a JavaScript call and the cpCmndResume = 1 kills the functionality of that completely.  I have other nav buttons that get disabled when the slide is paused, so when they get clicked, they don't do anything, but the movie gets resumed because of the cpCmndResume = 1 in the Project.js after the JavaScript call.  Any ideas or suggestions to fix this issue?

I think you need to remember that the HTML5 output from Captivate 6 has been designed for people that do NOT want to fiddle with the JS code after publishing.  It's targeted at non-programmers.
So if you've customised certain output components (e.g. playbars or navigation) and now find that things are not working as you like, the cause is most likely going to be something that you've modified away from the standard setup.
It would be virtually impossible for Adobe to know in advance (and cater to) all of the possible wayts that programmers might want to hack their default output.  So, although you are by all means free to ask if they will help you with this issue, please understand that they may not wish to encourage this avenue all that much, as it could open up a whole can of worms for them.

  • Adobe Connect 9 Training Course Video gets resized after being published from Captivate 6

    Hello!
I have an FLV that I have published to Adobe Connect 9 from Adobe Captivate 6.
I have set the size of the video to the dimensions that best display the FLV with player controls.
However, when I publish to Adobe Connect 9, the video is resized to a smaller size and looks heavily pixelated.
Is there a way to keep the dimensions and quality without Adobe Connect 9 resizing it?
Here are the settings in Captivate 6:
Here is the first screen for the preferences:
Here is the second screen in Preferences:
Here is what it looks like when viewed from Captivate 6 in a web browser:
Here is what it looks like after it has been published and uploaded into the training in Adobe Acrobat 9:
If you notice in the image above the video is smaller and the CMS logo is very pixelated due to Adobe Connect 9 resizing it.
I am not sure how to keep the dimensions that I have from Captivate 6 and have it reflect after it has been published to Adobe Connect 9.
And is there more functionality that I am not able to access since I am using a 30-Day trial.
Thanks for taking the time to read and assist!
    Angelo

You are correct that this is a known issue.  There was a fundamental change to the way objects are added to the timeline that came in with Cp6.  The result is that objects such as your SWF animations are only loaded at the time they are added to the timeline, and this causes the slide flickering you witness.  There's not really a lot you can do to get rid of it other than rebuilding all of your animations to be a single animation that once loaded will continue unabated until finished.

  • Error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003

Is anyone else getting an error message when publishing from Captivate 4 to MS Word 2003?  I tried all 4 types and still get the following:
"An error was encountered while publishing to Word.  Verify the following and try again.  Word is installed on your system.  Word is not busy."
Word is installed on my system and was not in use, so I am not sure why the error.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi there
I use Captivate 4 and it publishes to Word 2003 without issues.
Perhaps it has to do with the way your Word 2003 has been installed? Either that or it's a "rights" issue to be addressed by your IT propellerheads?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Captivate 7 Screen Captures (scrolling) not showing when published in HTML5

I am using Captivate 7 and when I publish in HTML5 my screen captures (of the screen scrolling) do not show -- I get a blank screen for a couple of seconds --, even though they show when I preview for the Web in HTML5. They also show when I play them locally, but not from my server. Here is a link to a short video that has this problem -- click the fast forward button seven times after clicking play to get to a screen scroll.  http://streaming.missioncollege.org/library/media/Tutorials/Title/index.html

I was using Internet Explorer 9. This morning I tried 10 & 11 with the same results. It works fine in Chrome and on a Mac with Safari. I do not have my iPad with me today, but I tried it this weekend and had the same problem, though I just updated my OS, so I will try again. If it does not work well on an iPad then I might as well output as FLASH. I will try my iPad again tonight and report back tomorrow. Thanks.

  • What's the right/best way to publish from Captivate 7 for use in Presenter 9

Just upgraded to captivate 7 and have presenter 9.  We are updating some old training courses created using Presenter with demos created in Captivate.  I've gotten as far as upgrading the old .cp files to .cpx files and now am ready to publish the files within Captivate so I can import them into Presenter 9.
When I hit 'publish' in captivate there are options to publish as .swf and/or .html5.  So I am trying to fugre out what will work best given what I'm trying to do.    In presenter I don't see an option to import HTML5, only video files or .swf files, is that correct?  in which case i need to publish as .SWF files?  Is that the best way to do it in order to be able to import into Presenter 9?
If that's the case, and I need to have .SWF files, how do I choose which Flash Player version I want to use when I publish the files in Captivate?  It's got the drop down box containing Flash 10, 10.2 and 11.  My instinct would be to use the newest (flash 11).  Is that correct?  If not, why would I want to use a lower Flash version?
    thank you!

    Hi,
You can publish to either as .mp4 (Go to publish >Media >Mp4 ) or .swf from Captivate 7. In presenter 9 you do have an option to either import .swf or .mp4 files. See the image below to import these two formats in presenter:

  • HTML/SWF publish from captivate 8

I had created an project and published it for HTML/SWF, it is working fine in all the browsers and only in Firefox it gives the below error:
    Adobe Captivate
This browser does not support some of the content in the file you are trying to view. Use one of the following browsers:
    Internet Explorer 9 or later
    Safari 5.1 or later
    Google Chrome 17 or later
can some one give me solution on this.

Check this post. The message usually is because Firefox doesn't support mp3, hence the message from CP.
You need to make .ogg files and redirect CP to use them if in Firefox, else use the .mp3

  • Editing html5 output from Captivate 6 or 7

Is there an html5 editor that could be used to edit the html5 output from Captivate?

    Hi Jay
HTML is just text. So there is no "magic mix" that is needed because it's HTML5. Windows Notepad could be used.
Unless, of course, you are looking for an editor that will provide code snippets and whatnot that you could use.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Captivate 7 course published to html5 not working

I recently created an elearning course and published to both SWF and HTML5 for SCORM 1.2. However, in doing so, I could not get it to play on my iphone, and on the Mac only some browsers worked.
I separated the two outputs in two different versions and published them to SCORMCloud with the following results:
Published to SWF - works fine across all browsers.
Published to HTML5 - does not work on any browser,  or iphone/ipad. I can't even get the "Preview HTML5 output in web browser" to work.
In all cases, we simply see a blank screen. The HTML5 tracker does not show that there are any incompatibilities. The options under externalized resources are left unchecked. I have included a screen shot of the html5 settings, just in case. They seem pretty cut and dry, but is there something somewhere--here or on another screen--that I am missing?
I am really in a bind at this point since this course was supposed to be up and running a couple days ago. Any help you can offer is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Best,
    Arthur

They're all in the same boat with you.  It's not working reliably for them either.
You need to go back to the drawing board and ask yourself (or your client) some hard questions about your target audience and your target course content.
Is is REALLY the kind of content that you want people to view on a tiny smart phone screen?  E.g. is it desktop software training?  If not, then why bother with trying to support tiny screens?
Are the people in your target audience REALLY likely to be viewing this content ONLY on their phones, or could they just as easily view it in their web browser on their computer? If so, tell them so.
The truth is that most clients have no idea about the technical limitations of this brave new world we call Mobile Learning, and many are now picking up HTML5 as the latest technological buzzword they trot out to show how "with it" they are:
"We need our content to be HTML5-compatible to accommodate the m-learning landscape and maximize shareholder expectations bulldust bulldust bulldust...ad nauseum."
While I agree that HTML5 is probably the future of e-learning, it's causing more than it's fair share of headaches in the present.
