Having sound issues with Mid 2011 iMac 27". It has 10.10.2 OS X.  Could this the issue and if so how do I revert to 10.7.3

It is almost impossible to diagnose sounds over the internet, however here is a link to some failing HD sounds. If one of yours be happy, at any rate take it in for service. If you got AppleCare or it's less than a year old it's covered.

  • Issues with Outlook 2011 since upgrading to Yosemite

    Hi,
I have reached out to Microsoft for this issue and they are saying it's an issue with Apple, so I don't really know who to reach out to.  I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 on my Macbook Pro.  I have had Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac installed on this computer since I purchased it in 2010.  Everything ran fine until I upgraded to Yosemite.  Other than everything running waaaay slower than it did before the upgrade (slower than my Dell, if that tells you anything), my main issue is that my AOL email account will not sync incoming messages correctly in Outlook.  It syncs both of my other email accounts just fine, but the AOL account is off.  It imports only some emails and then it also converts emails that I have read on my phone into blank "no subject", "no sender" messages.  The messages all still show just fine on aol.com and on my iphone.  Very weird.  I have completely uninstalled & reinstalled Microsoft Office, so I am assuming that it's not a problem with office, but with Yosemite.  Any one else have a similar problem?
Again, I know this might not be the best forum for this question, but my Apple friends are the smartest people I know, so I'm hoping someone out there can help me out (and Microsoft has NOT been helpful at all)!
    Thanks!

In late November I bought a second Macbook pro simply to have assured redundancy .  Friday AOL stopped working on both computers and then another client em using MS server also failed.
I can read mail but not send ..........  my guess is that it is the last Yosemite upgrade
I wonder how Timmy would feel if he launched in the Apple jet only to find that it's landing gear would not extend on landing because Gulfstream had sneaked into the hangar and modified the landing gear, knowing that it would fail.     if he can visualize how I feel having been unable to work on a number of critical problems over the weekend. I bought two mac's because I wanted superior performance, not because I wanted to be a software troubleshooter. Simply an inexcusable betrayal of Apples customers ..

  • I am having an issue with Outlook 2011 for Mac.

Emails show up in my Trash folder that are not trash or junk.  How do stop the Trash folder from snagging my emails?

I suggest you post your question on Microsoft's forums for their Mac products, as it's their software you're having issues with:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac

  • Hard drive issues with early 2011 13" please help!

    Hello everyone,
I'm new here but I need immediate help! I'll try to make the story somewhat short:
    I have a macbook pro early 2011 13".
    - Closed my lid one day (I did not make any changes or installed anything new recently) and upon reopening many hours later, the system was frozen.
    - Did a hard shut off and upon turning it on, I get the crossed out circle.
    - Recovery HD also gave me the same crossed out circle.
    - Used internet recovery and formatted/partitioned the drive.
(Note that the drive in the bay at the moment is a Kingston HyperX SSD, not the OEM Samsung HD as I am actually using that as my secondary hard drive in my CD drive bay, which has been working fine the entire time before and during everything)
    - Tried to reinstall Lion from internet recovery but it wouldn't detect the SSD.
    - Strange, so I decided to install Lion onto an external hard drive and installed Mavericks onto the internal drive from there, successfully too.
    - Same results (crossed out circle) upon booting into the internal drive (likewise for the recovery HD).
    - I pulled out the drive and popped it into an enclosure and it could boot up from there.
    - Took it a step further and purchased an additional SSD, partitioned it and installed Mavericks on it via the external hard drive (not the SSD in the enclosure)
    - I can boot up from the new SSD, however it is extremely sluggish and freezes every few seconds with the spinning beach ball.
I am about to reinstall a newly downloaded copy of Mavericks onto the new SSD to see if it will fix the issue (which I doubt)
Could it be a problem with the drives or is it the SATA cable that is malfunctioning?
I'm not sure whether or not it is worth spending so much time repairing it because I've already spent a good three or four days getting this far.
Are the parts, repairs, hard drive replacements worth it or should I just replace it?

Did you format the external drive for use with OS X?
Open Disk Utility. Does Disk utility see the connected drive?
Format it to "Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

  • Having sync issues with Outlook 2011 since upgrading to Mavericks

    Hi All,
My work Macbook Pro 13" is having issues syncing my inbox and sent mail automatically. It's a hit or miss if I recieve emails in my inbox in a timely mannor with out pressing the Send/Recive button (even when i press it takes minutes to update). My Sent Items can show up an hour later  even if I hit the Send/Recieve button.
All my mail is there and shows up/syncs on my iPhone quickly. I upgraded to Mavericks right when it came out and have only been having these sync issues for the last week or so.
I've cleared my mail cache and that didn't work. My calandar reminders and contacts don't seem to have any issues and no other apps have been preforming slow or strangely.... just my VERY important work email. My tech guys are stumped and I wanted to try you guys before they do a major rehaul of my system
    Thanks!

A new Outlook Identity will most likely solve your issues. If you have any data under "On My Computer" folders, see this link:
How to move your data to a new Identity
BTW, how much free space on your drive? Use Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities to find this info. You need a minimum of 10% free but 15-20% is recommended.
Outlook gets very sluggish when you are low on disk space. If you have a bunch of older Identities from previous rebuilds you can delete these to help free up space.

  • Issues with Word 2011/Lion

I recently upgraded to Lion and have Word for Mac (part of Office for Mac) 2011. I have an issue I have not seen elsewhere in the Lion forum. Within Word, if I go to File --> Open, I see no files listed; I can open files only by clicking on them in the Finder. Similarly, within Word, if I go to Insert --> Photo --> Picture from file, no files are visible in the folder I go to; to insert a photo, I have to drag it from the finder or from another app.
Saw in one forum that Lion recognizes only .docx files rather than .doc, but when I tested that and saved a file as .docx, I still could not see it when I went to File --> Open (plus, that wouldn't solve the Insert Photo issue).
(I also went to the Microsoft Word for Mac support community, but after a lengthy and intrusive process to register, I got an error ("technical problems") message).

  • Issues with Office 2011 on my OSX 10.5.8 Air

I recently purchased and installed Office 2011 on my first generation macbook air.  The operating system is OSX 10.5.8 and I re-installed that recently as well.
The issue I'm having revolves mostly around outlook, and that is that it STALLS like nobody's business.  Mostly when I am composing emails, but at other  times as well.  The spinning color wheel is all I see. I've noticed some stalling in word, too, but not nearly as bad.
I recently ordered snow leopard and am hoping that upgrade might help.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I use outlook for work and it's super frustrating to take 15 min to write an email....
PS, ran disk warrior and my computer doesn't seem to have any issues. I have 14.16 GB available.   Thanks for any suggestions!

For what its worth, I consigned Outlook to the trash. It is a slow memory hogging unstable program on every computer I've tried using it on
That is even true on a Windows XP machine...this morning Outlook changed, on its own, an addressee on me from the one I had entered to another

  • RDP issues with SBS 2011 after reboot

I'm having trouble RDP'ing back into our SBS2011 server after doing a reboot on it, trying to re establish the RDP connection fails. I can't get back in until I call and have someone onsite physically log the server back on, then I can RDP back in just fine. Ideas?

    Hi:
Failed updates were once a no charge call to MS for assistance, so I would try that and see how they react.  Also, most failed updates will install on the second pass or you can visit the KB and download and install manually.
Just for others reading this... it is an excellent idea to reboot the sever before installing updates just to check that there are no issues.  We have found that updates get blamed for things that have crept into the system before the updates were applied.
For the case at hand... I would not expect to see failed updates result in the behavior you are experiencing.  May I suggest that you find the time to start the server with a clean boot (use msconfig to stop all startup items and non MS services
and restart).  Then try the updates again, one at a time.  If that does not work, try safe mode that will even turn off such as network drivers and even change the exchange services to disabled for this test.
If there were hardware driver updates installed, remove them and drop back to those you were using before.  Make doubly sure the drives are not full, and that the RAM is not totally used.
Examine the event logs for clues, and run the SBS BPA - fix anything it finds.
And maybe let us know, in this last case, if dot net 4.51 was installed and what updates failed to install.

  • Screen/graphics card issue with Late 2011 MBP (13")

I've got a strange thing (not sure if it's really an issue or it's normal with this device) with the screen or the graphics card of my 13" MacBook Pro.
The issue resembles some kind of dithering, but only when high-contrast parts of the screen are moving. It's therefore most obvious when scrolling through websites, but it's also apparent when moving windows or watching video's.
It seems like, when you have a horizontal row of pixels, the even pixels change at a different speed than the odd pixels, which results in the impression of a lot of dots on screen when scrolling.
I've already tried to find if this is a common issue but couldn't find a similar issue. I'm also not able to determine if it has something to do with the graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 3000) or the screen (couldn't find the type of display that's used).
What i'd like to know is if it's actually an issue and I need to go to an Apple Store, or that it's just part of this machine and I shouldn't be worried about it.
Please take a look at pictures i tried to make of this, it might be hard to see as you also see a lot of motion blur, but hopefully it gives a good impression. All screenshots are made while scrolling a webpage.

The outside temperature in my house is at 71-72 degrees. If I am using it in my lap I have a Targus lap mat that has two fans in it. If I am using it at my desk I have it in a BookArc stand with the hinge UP so the heat may rise out of the top, using it in clamshell mode (which is supposed to HELP with heat). If they are designed to work UPTO 35 C then I am DEFINITELY having problems. I am at 50 c right now and all I have done since turning it on an hour and a half ago is write a 3 page word document, look at one email and now I am replying to this. Is it possible that SmcFan is incorrect?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

  • I'm having multiple issues with my 2011 intel based macbook pro

It's the i7 with the gigabyte nvidia card and a terrabyte hard drive and 4 gigs of ram i have no idea why its crapping out on my after only 6 months but when gaming my screen will randomly go to sleep and this is kinda of solved by pressing the esc key or power key but i would prefer it did not do this mid game, my mac book also starts making a loud buzzing/humming noise at random times even sometimes when the system is idle, it comes from near the left speaker (not through it)
i am not covered by warrenty and im really hoping i can fix these problems conviently or cheaply
another important note is that i am dual booting windows and mac os x

    Don't install MacKeeper.
It sounds like you're having a lot of different problems. Rather than trying to troubleshoot each one, you should first boot in safe mode by restarting and holding down the shift key until the Apple logo appears. Some things won't work in safe mode, but you should at least be able to tell whether things are better or not.
If things do get better in safe mode, then at least some of your problems are being caused by third-party software you installed. If there's no improvement in safe mode, then you should back up your data and reinstall the OS.
In order to back up, you'll need another Mac in working order with a Firewire port. Start up the MBP in Firewire target mode by holding down command-T when you reboot. You can then connect it to the other Mac using a Firewire cable, and it will function as an external drive
