Issuing commands and receiving data

I'm using a Stanford Research Counter (SR400) and trying to issue commands to it (specifically the SS command which queries the status byte). I want to receive the byte after I issue the command, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. I'm using a GPIB interface and have tried the GPIB Write and GPIB Read commands as well as the MISC ones and some others. I'm not sure how labview gets the data from the instrument, but when I query the status byte, it just get the default 0. Thanks for any help!

I've tried the GPIB Status and Serial Polls, but neither of them return the status byte that contains a bit that indicates whether there's data ready to be collected. I was thinking of using this bit to trigger my program, but now I'm not quite sure how. Thanks for the tip.

ajspurr, sorry to hear that you're still having some troubles here, but we want to figure this out. If you have already cleared the application cache and data and it's still giving you an issue, we may want to reset the device. By resetting the device we can ensure there are no underlying software issues. If you have the device backed up you can take a look here to see how to reset the device http://vz.to/1ucTCmE. TCODES FOR SENDINGIG AND RECEIVING DATA THROUGH ALE

Message type I can find for the following :
Equipment master: EQUIPMENT_CREATE
Work centre: WORKC2, WORKC3 or WORKC4
Functional location: FUNC_LOC_CREATE
but i did'nt find a transaction code for sending and receiving data through ALE.
For example: Send material T.code BD10,
Receive material T.code BD11.
Please give the solution.

If you have cellular data turned off apps can still send and receive data via WiFi. But why do you have apps that send and receive data if you don't want them to send and receive data?

             The control would be something like this for navigation in Get_p_xxx method u mention as link and u mention a event name which gets triggered on the click of this hyperlink. So your GET_P_XXX method would have the following code:
CASE iv_property.

      rv_value = cl_bsp_dlc_view_descriptor=>field_type_event_link.
    WHEN if_bsp_wd_model_setter_getter=>fp_onclick.

Now you have to create a method as EH_ONEXAMPLE at your IMPL class and within which you would give an outbound plug method. Within the outbound plug the target data would be filled in the collection and window outbound plug would be triggered.
This is a huge topic and i have just mentioned you basic things.

Get file name and received date & time

Hello experts,
We are loading around 10 source files(xml) on regular basis to Target table. I have to capture source filename & received datetime of those files and status of file whether it loaded successfully or not(I can care take care of status of file). I want to automate this process using BODS and load filename, datetime and status data into one database table.
For you information: File name looks like QAS_Wareneingang_20140328-190006-438. ( from file name ..190006-438 number is random number they are generating) and Date and time is constant for that day eg: 28.03.2014 19:00

I found a solution to find and move all related filenames with timestamp to file_names.txt file using the batch script below.

cd /D G:\BAUR
dir /n Auslagerung* > G:\Dev_Users\BAUR\file_names.txt
exit
After that I used the above file as source and formatted using query transform in BODS.

Join issue - Requestor and Approval data

Trying to show approval task information with requestor/customer information.
We are unable to show approval task information and requestor information in the same result. It appears that there is no join between requestor/customer and approval data. Is there any way for us to create this join.

This should not be a problem with the Custom Reports Data Model. For instance, one could build a simple informational report displaying Requisition Number, Service Name, Customer Name, Approval Task Name and Approver Name as follows:
ServiceRequestFact - RequisitionID (fact)
Service - ServiceName (dimension)
Customer - Customer Full Name (dimension)
Authorization Tasks - Task Name (fact)
Performer - Performer Full Name (dimension)
As an FYI -- In the event that you do need to build a report containing data on 2 query subjects that do not have an explicit relationship (not the case here), you can do so by building a Master Detail Report in Report Designer.

Telnet with TestStand (Send and Received data)

Today I found this DLL, which is free, it is part of a package extraputty.

I have written a .NET Telnet Compenent for Teststand and it even works well.
Most of the code i have found at Codeproject.com .There is thread called TerminalControl.
You can use this with only a few modifications. The major task you have to do is to add
the TS stuff.

Is anyone having issues sending and receiving downloads with messages?

I downloaded messages. But I'm having troubles sending and receiving downloads from others.
My friend has messages as well and we can send small files, like mp3. But when I tried to send him a movie that's 500mb it says that the file is too big.
When I get incoming files to download (doesn't matter if the file is small or large), I click it and my aim automatically logs me off and then back on. So I can't even accept incoming downloads. Anyone have any fixes?

I have one other thread where the person says there Login to AIM gets booted off when they try to accept Files in Messages beta.
Personally I have one Jabber Buddy who I cannot get Files from but they can send me AIM File Transfers.
I need to test with other Jabber Buddies to check this further myself. However I am not booted Off line.
I have sent Picture files in line and as free standing File transfers over AIM before, the largest probably being about 50Mb at a max.
I certainly have not sent a movie that big (I have sent smaller ones)
I have not come across a Limit before.
What do you see if you have the File Transfer window Open as well ?
This tends to show the sideways barbershop pole and a second downward arrow to start the download from there.
Mine fails when I click the arrow in the File Transfer window and until then it says Waiting.
The other thread has also tried Auto Accept with no luck.
At present I have not answers to this.
We have not tried Zipped files in the other thread.

Using a TCP/IP Connection to REQUEST and RECEIVE data from a iDRX Signal Conditioner through a EIS-2B Server

First let me say that I am new to labview, please bear with me. I want to use Labview to querry a iDRX thermocouple signal conditioner using tcp/ip. The signal conditioner is wired to a EIS-2B server. The server is at 198.162.10.53 and port 2000. The data request command is *10x01\r and the expected data to be returned is 01X01+00064.6 (or whatever the actual temperature is). The conditioner and server are working and testing correctly using the iDRX supplied software.
My attached vi runs, creates no errors, but returns no data either. I can find many examples of how to set up a listener, but I need to QUERRY and then RECEIVE the data.

Hi Alyeska! Welcome to the forums!
I took a quick look at the VI, and I have four quick suggestions for
you that may give us some information about what is happening.
You may be experiencing an error that just isn't detected by the VI -
normally we add an error handling VI at the end of program execution to
report any errors that occurred. Also, it's helpful to have a way
to exit the while loop so that the program can finish executing if an
error occurs. Third, you may need to introduce a delay between
the query and the read command to allow the server time to process and
respond to the request. Lastly, if you already know how long the
return message will be, you should wire this length to the Bytes to
Read input of the TCP Read VI so it knows to return the data once it
receives that number of bytes. I've attached a modified version
of the VI incorporating these - give this a try, and let us know if you
still see an error, and if so, what error. Also, if you haven't
taken a look at it already, there are excellent resources for learning
LabVIEW at the LabVIEW Fundamentals page - it's a great way to introduce yourself to LabVIEW and get up to speed quickly.

Sending commands and reading data - RS232

Hello guys !
I have a special problem communicatin through RS232 with a PIC microcontroller.
The problem :
On push of a button i want to read a value from the microcontroller.
On another push of a button, i want to write a value to the microcontroller.
However, i get an error : "VISA: (Hex 0xBFFF0015) Timeout expired before operation completed."
I've tried to search the forum for similar problem, but i haven't found a suitable answer.
I also post my current code for reference. I'm using LabView 8.5.1.
The RS232 communication is working fine (i can read and write from the PIC).
I tested the connection extensively so i think that te problem is not there.
Can u help me ?

Are you waiting for a response from the device after you send it a command? Are you getting any data back? A simple delay is not a very good solution since your program may work for one given situation but the hard delay may not in others. You can use a VISA event to wait for data at the serial port. How much data are you expecting? If it is a larg eamount of data you may want to calculate the timeout for the read based on the amount of data and your given BAUD rate. If you expect a large amount of data you may not have your timeout set long enough for all the data to arrive, especially if you are using slower BAUD rates.
I noticed in your code that you have enabled the read to look for a termination character. Does your device send one? If not, you may be getting the error because you have not received the 1000 bytes you indicating you want to receive. If you will not be getting a termination character and you don't know how much data you will be receiving you need to create some type of algorithm to read data and decide when to stop. Th eapproach I use is to read a single byte. This read will contain the maximum timeout to wait for the data to arrive. Once a single byte has been read I continue reading chunks of data using a small timeout value. This value should be long enough to allow any small delay that occurs in the data as it is being sent from the device but short enough to indicate the data is complete once a timeout does occur. This timeout error is discarded since it is not a true communication error.
NOTE: You should avoid using controls as variables. You have your Byte to Read controls set as default values and hidden. Therefore they are nothing more then a constant. Hiding controls simple to hide "variables" is not a good coding practice. Either expose the controls to teh user or use a constant.

For those new to mail with issues sending and receiving mail

I was surprised that I did not see anyone referring to this amazing and invaluable tool, the Mail Setup Assistant:

This tool get's me through troubleshooting sessions more than anything else. Most problems are due to settings when it comes to Mail. Half the time issues with sending emails is just due to SMTP settings, sometimes you do not need to have Authentication for outgoing mail. Sometimes your password is just incorrect. Use Mail Setup Assistant it is pretty **** accurate I use it on a daily basis.
Sometimes the settings are perfect and sometimes you just have to erase mail completely by doing:
~/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist pull.
~ refers to your home folder!

My blackberry keeps sending and receiving data

and it is draining my battery!!!! My phone is just sitting beside me, not receiving any emails or texts and it isn't loading an internet page, so I don't know what it is doing. My battery is dying before 11:00 AM which shouldn't happen.

My battery is also draining...could it be a virus? I uninstalled twitter-facebook- and all those stupid time-wasting social networks, as well as a Google search application I deleted/uninstalled it too. My BB no longer seems to be freezing caused by sent/receive. This may have fxed the problem but will know by 5pm how low the battery will be.

It really depends on the vendor. RFC1795 defines TCP 2065 and 2067 for DLSw. However, Cisco routers only uses TCP 2065 in DLSw version 1 mode. Cisco routers support DLSw version 2 (RFC 2166) in 11.3T. If two Cisco routers with 12.0 software, Cisco routers use UDP 2067 on top of TCP port 2065.

Continuous data send and receive with unknown source

When I connect my ipad to the lightning cable, no matter if it is connected to PC or it is going to be charged, if the wifi is on, it will start sending and receiving data continuously and with a high speed.
I want to stop this thing from happening because it nearly consumed all of my internet account
