Itunes and windows xp not finding my ipod nano..anyone know how to fix it?

I got my ipod nano for xmas, and was really pleased
with it. But 3 days on, the computer couldnt find it
in my computer OR my devices.
Then itunes failed to find it. Im now totally stuck,
i have tried changing USB ports and basics like
that.. but it hasnt worked. Does anyone know how to
fix this?
Please get in touch if you do know how to solve this,
as im normally pretty good with technology, but this
one has totally stumped me!!

I had this same problem. I was reading another discussion that had this problem as well and they suggested unplugging your printer. I have a Lexmark printer connected through USB. I unplugged the printer and my ipod has worked like a charm. Strange!

I uninstalled itunes and all its folders, restarted the apple device services and changed the drive letter. Checked my security settings and everything else I can think of. Did you remove all Apple related software including QuickTime, Safari, Software Update utility for Windows, etc using the exact instructions in this Apple support document?

Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port and not a USB or similar? Have you tried different cables to help rule out a faulty or damaged cable?

Each time I try to connect to the iTunes store, this has popped up. I googled error (-3212) and also followed the steps on iTunes support. I downloaded the new itunes and chose "repair files" all to no prevail. I use iTunes on a daily basis and bought and iTunes card 2 weeks ago which I now cannot use. Does anyone know how to fix this?

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

- Reset all settings If yu can see the screen enough to do it)
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

When you jar or drop a hard drive when it's operating the heads strike the platters and ruin sectors and the data on them.
Your getting the spinning wheel because the OS has been damaged and/or quite possibly the drive.
You'll first have to determine if it's a hardware issue
Do #3 Hardware Test and #5 Disk Utlity Repair Disk/Permissions here (check the SMART status)
Step by Step to fix your Mac
If the drive is fine and you don't have a recent copy of your data off the machine then also do this
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
Then proceed with fixing the damaged software, likley by #8 your problem will be fixed.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
Report any errors it found for Disk Repair, don't need the ones for Permissions Repair.
Try it again & see if anything changed, but have Activity Monitor open & Show All Processes & sorted on CPU%, also have Console open if we can... maybe not when switching, but we'll see.

Got the latest Itunes (11, I think) and now it says that 'Itunes.itl isn't working because it's a newer version of Itunes' and when I go to my older Itunes, the F7, F8 and F9 buttons won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Okay, so I got the latest update and apparently it doesn't work. I had an icon on my desktop that wouldn't open because the 'newer Itunes' is apparently corrupt or something. Going into my applications, I found another Itunes icon and it opens up, but not the F7, F8 and F9 keys aren't working with it. I've already tried installing the latest version and that hasn't helped. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Do you have the Onavo app installed? If so, try removing it.
1. Go to your Settings app -> General -> Profiles
2. Locate the profile called "Onavo"
3. Tap Remove
4. Go back to your home screen and delete the Onavo Extend icon

I was downloading Skype for mac last night, and now my safari isn't working correctly (has a lot of popups and and words are hyperlinked on my webpages I pull up now. I think I have the 'DownLite' trojan but I am unsure of how to get rid of it. I saw a post in March that Linc helped with describing how to fix it, but unfortunately, it didn't work for me (because I think mine is in a different folder but am unsure how to find it). I have the UNIX shell script diagnostic scan if needed. Can anyone help me get rid of this?? Thank you for your help!

When I have a youtube video up and switch to a different window or program the video box shows up at the upper left of the screen and it does not go away. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

I also have it - I updated Firefox and Flash both today.
When a YouTube is running and you cover all of the image with another page, a copy of the flash output appears at the top left corner of the screen, on top of anything there, and persists as long as the video is covered.
The only way to get rid of it is stop the video and wipe another window over the flash ghost.
I'd guess somebody isn't telling flash to stop updating when covered, and it writes to 0,0 instead.
Might be in flash, or might be in Firefox.
