ITunes: Change Case

Hello,
I'm new to automator, i've had a good look around, but don't know any advanced stuff.. so please exucuse me if i say or ask something stupid
Basically, I want an Automator thingo (workflow/actionscript/whatever its called) to convert all the "ARTIST" info in iTunes music files to Title Case
I have already got Automator to convert all the Song Names to Title Case (a pre-defined action in automator), and I was just wanting some pointers as to where to start, or look for help
I'm guessing that i will have to do some scripting, which shouldn't be too big of a problem, because from what i have seen it looks very understandable... (i think i might have learnt this scripting language in year 10 even.. it looks really familiar)
is there a way to view the script that the pre-defined actions run? cos i think that would be of great help!

How can i stop itunes changing manually typed in genres when playing a track?

hi,
for a long time, itunes has been changing genre information that i typed in manually when playing a track, example giving "soundtrack" to "Filmmusik" or "rock" to "Rock" (i prefer lower case letters). until upgrading to itunes 11, it was able to edit the localizable.strings file and set the predefined genres to lowercase and "Filmmusik" to "soundtrack" and so on. now i had to install itunes 11 to run my new ipod, and the localizable.strings file looks quite different. it doesn't seem to be the file now where the necessary updates have to be done.
therefore, first question is if anyone can tell me where i can find the predefined genres and update them? then i will have a workaround at least.
actually, i would prefer to stop itunes changing track information in any case. i've spend more than a year to import all my cd's and used lots of time to have reliable track informations. i don't want the software to change my data without me committing any change. also, even worse, itunes updates the aac-file itself as well. i used to use the last updated information as a criteria in intelligent playlists, but itunes makes it impossible to get the expected result with its unwanted updates.
so, any help will be aprreciated. in case it should matter, i have an imac with os x 10.6.8. the problem seems to occur only in itunes, when i play the tracks on my ipod, the information remains unchanged. and since i read about similar problems with songs from the itunes store - all my tracks are imported from cd manually.

Dependent upon which view you are using to look at the album, they will be playing in the "view" order. For example, in the screenshot below, in the Songs view, I have a view of an album like this, while the song "Follow Me" is playing:
Look carefully at the picture and you will notice that the sort order for this view is in "reverse Last Played order", and if you now look at the Track No. column, you will notice that "Follow Me" is track 12, the last one on the album. If you also look at the Up Next list, you can see every track from the album, in the same order as they appear in the main window, so it will play in reverse order.
To play this album in the correct track order, I simply click on the Track No. column header (so that the arrow is pointing up) and then select the track at the top of the list, track 1, "Sunset Song". Look at this screenshot:
Notice that now, the tracks in the Up Next list are in track order and the album will play in the correct order.

The songs from the Sony MP3 player need to be imported into your iTunes library first before they can be synced or added to your iPod Classic.
Regarding the songs that didn't import into iTunes, what format are they in and what seems to be different from them compared with the tracks that did import?

ITunes changing the ID3 tags and deleting music after syncing or opening

After syncing (or opening iTunes), iTunes changes the tags in about 25% of my music (this time it was about 90% affected). It removes the total track number on some of the songs. This has been a consistent problem. I noticed that it also actually erased some of my music, random tracks in my library are now missing (gone in windows explorer also). I have reformatted my iPod and restored it, it's not that. What is going on!! Going through and fixing 7500 songs every time I sync is ******* me off

Forgot to mention that it also copied the artist field data to the album artist field... had to erase all of those too

Mine is doing the exact same thing. It happens every time I click on a song. Weird letter-number strings are inserted into the Comments field, my album art is gone, and the track numbers are messed up.
I've tried upgrading to the new iTunes. I tried reinstalling iTunes. I turned off my soundcheck option and deleting potentially comprised files. Nothing's worked.
I've tried emailing Apple directly and got no help. Anyone know what's going on???

I'm in the process of setting up a podcast on iTunes for my church. Here is the feed. http://www.christcommunity.org.au/feed/?post_type=sermons
Now, when I subscribe to the feed in iTunes and download a file, I notice that two important ID3 tags have changed.
1. Album changes. In 'The Authority of Jesus.mp3', it is 'The Life of Jesus' on my web server but it is 'Christ Community Church » Sermons' when downloaded from iTunes.
2. Contributing Artists changes. In 'The Authority of Jesus.mp3', it is 'David Cunningham' on my web server bu it is 'Christ Community Church' when downloaded from iTunes.
Why do these ID3 tags change? Thanks.

Thanks for your reply to my post. I am not concerned about what appears in iTunes as such, and I understand how that relates to the <iTunes:> tags in the feed. The Apple documentation is pretty clear on this.
However, in the feed, the file is specified by:

Now, when I download the file from that URL and look at the ID3 tags, the Album is set to 'The Life of Jesus' and the Contributing Artists is set to 'David Cunningham'. When I download the same podcast episode through iTunes, using the same feed, the ID3 tags change, as specified in my original post.
The feed is created by Blubrry/PowerPress but this process does not alter the ID3 tags.
So the question still remains, why is iTunes changing my ID3 tags? Thank you for your assistance.

I just purchased a few songs from Itunes and could not edit the information in the Get Info section of the file. It's greyed out. Any ideas? Has ITunes changed and no longer allows editing.

Has ITunes changed its editing feature for songs, etc.? I just purchased a few songs and found that I could not edit them using the "Get Info" feature. The information is greyed out and does not allow editing. Among other things, I usually like to eliminate the word "THE" from group names for easier alphabetizing in my library. Thanks for any help.

Check permissions and ownership of the files. Maybe this helps....

"completion insight" and "change case as you type" won't work for sql file

Hi there,
Just updated to 3.1 on my Mac Lion. It's very likely a bug since it used the work with 3.0.
I have a "temp.sql" file where I store several queries. I start SQL Developer, open "temp.sql", connect to a DB but "completion insight" and "change case as you type" won't work anymore.
If I click in "Unshared SQL Worksheet", the new worksheet tab will work fine with completion and change case, but I want to use my temp.sql and save things there when closing the application.
To reproduce yourself the issue:
Open SQL Dev, connect to a DB (it will open a worksheet), do some queries and check that change case and completion are working, quit SQL Dev, but save the worksheet in a sql file before. Re-open SQL Dev and open the sql file. Connect to the same DB and try to change the queries or create another. Completion and change case won't work anymore.

Well, it's partially working, if your sql file is big (like mine), say with more than 1000 lines, then, maybe because of memory usage, the automatic completion won't work as expected, though, sometimes, after a while, crtl-space would stil work.
So, the problem may have been addressed, but I believe this feature can be definitely improved.

ITunes changes video/album info when I play video/songs

I have purchased movies, tv shows, and music on iTunes, and sometimes when I go to play a song or video I've downloaded iTunes changes the name/album/other info on the video/song, and it then changes where it is located in my iTunes folders, and album art changes as well. What is going on?! I've had it happen multiple times to both songs and videos. And unfortunately, even though it renames the files on my computer and in iTunes causing me to not be able to find them, I can not download them from the cloud because the cloud recognizes that those files are ON my computer (even though they're renamed and I would have to listen to thousands of songs just to find what it's been renamed to).
How can I stop this from happening and losing so much media that I've purchased on this computer?! I'm tempted to delete EVERYTHING, and redownload it from the cloud. However, what's to say it wouldn't happen all over again once I've done that?
Please let me know if you've experienced something similar and what can be done to correct the problem.

I'm having the exact same issue, and it's driving me crazy. Like you, it's been happening for a while, through several updates. This can get confusing, so let me use actual titles to keep this straight. Went to play Lady Gaga "Bad Romance". The album art totally changed to Swell Season and the song "Back Broke" started playing even though the track was still labeled with Lady Gaga info.
So, I tracked down Swell Season "Back Broke" and played that, and it morphed into a completely different song! I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole with my songs. AND even though the Lady Gaga track renamed itself to Swell Season "Back Broke" and plays Swell Season "Back Broke", it still sorts alphabetically as if it's Lady Gaga.
My favorite incident so far has been a song with track info A, album art B, and the actual song that plays is C. Three in one combo! All of these have been with purchased songs.
Deleting and downloading the incorrect tracks from the cloud doesn't do anything. Problem remains. When I tried to redownload Lady Gaga "Bad Romance" from previous purchases in the store, it said that it was "not available in the US store." ????? Should I abandon my itunes library and thousands of dollars worth of purchased songs and just do a monthly thing like Spotify? Because the only solution that has worked so far is REBUYING songs I've already purchased!!
Ridiculous. Apple, find a solution and break it down for me step-by-step. Because I know I'm not the only person with this issue.

If I understand correctly, you want to know the shortcut key combination to switch the case of words in column headers of a tablix in Reporting Services Report Designer. As far as I know, there is no such key combination. In Microsoft Word/Outlook/PowerPoint,
we can use the Shift + F3 to change case of words. However, this doesn’t work in SSRS Report Designer.
To change the case of the words in column headers, you can either copy the text to Word and perform the case change there or use built-in functions such as LCase, Ucase, or StrConv to perform the case change by using expression. Here are the examples for
the three functions:
Expression: =LCase(“Sales territory country”)                           Result: sales territory country
Expression: =UCase(“Sales territory country”)                           Result: SALES TERRITORY COUNTRY
Expression: =StrConv(“Sales territory country”, vbProperCase)   Result: Sales Territory Country

Change case in paragraph style option

I use different types of headng styles in my document. I use ALL CAPS for my first level heading and TITLE CASE for second level heading and SENTENCE FOR third level heading. It will be helpful if I have change case options in paragraph sytle
Upper case
Lowera case
Title case
Sentence case
in paragaph style just like "BASIC CHARACTER FORMATS".

I think that's the wrong paradigm.
Styles are for changing the look of text -- not the content. the way change case works (in every app I've ever seen) is by changing the encoding of the text.

I have always kept this option unchecked. I've looked again just now and the option has remained unchecked. For some reason iTunes 'selected' 4 (that I've noticed) out of my 1775 albums and did its automatic update anyway. I guess this is a bug in the latest version, perhaps during the updating process.
I've changed the album art back to what I want and will keep an eye on them. I'll feed back to this thread if iTunes changes the art again.

Have you signed in to iTunes? You may need to reinstall iTunes. Try syncronizing your apps from your iphone or whatever you are using to your computer. Otherwise I really can't understand what you are asking. Please be more specific next time.

Can iTunes change DVD's into a .mov format ?

So can iTunes change the format of a DVD into the format it needs to be put onto the video iPod cause this kid at my school says you can...But I put a DVD in and tried to import it and everything and nothing happened so am I doing something wrong or can iTunes convert DVD's to the iPod format?

Yea I figured you couldnt but maybe so I asked...So just google it for what I already have 2 converters but one has a watermake that says "Trial Version" and the other one only converts 5min of the DVD and that Videora has to install online and keeps saying "Server Timed Out" and then I have to restart the installation process for it. So what should I google?

Changing case in a style ?

In IDCS2, is there a way of using a style to change case of a piece of text, or would this have to be done by scripting?

You're right, mate, and I realise in hindsight I was inspecific in the wording of my first post.
What I was hoping to be able to do was toggle the case between lower, upper and title case, as needed.
I'm out of my depth with scripting -- I wouldn't have a clue where to start. But in any event, am I wrong in thinking that, except in cases where the required change was regular and predictable, a script would have to be invoked manually anyway ? For my purposes, for ad-hoc sub-editing and formatting, I'm guessing it would be just as easy to use the menu.
