ITunes reopens immediately after I quit it?
I'm running the most recent update for Apple that is available, Mavericks. iTunes is 11.2.1.
After I've been using my Macbook Air for a little while, iTunes gets weird- it won't let me turn the volume up past like 30%, and when I try to quit it (and command-option-escape) it reopens right away.
I have no idea what to do.
If I restart my computer the problem goes away for a while, but it's always back.
Any help at ALL would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
A third-party application or widget trying to communicate with iTunes is the likely culprit. (This includes the iTunes Dashboard widget.) Try disabling such items and see if the behavior stops.

It is very frustrating. I quit iTunes and it starts back up seconds later. It seems after I quit it 10 or more times, it will finally stop restarting. To my knowledge, this has only been occuring over the past few weeks and I'm pretty certain is was about the time I last updated iTunes. Maybe it's a coincidence and something else is to blame?
After searching this community, I found someone who had a problem like this on his Mac back in 2009 that turned out to be a third party widget he was running. I do not use any third party music related stuff on my PC (not a Mac). The only other music-related software I have is Spotify and Windows Media Player and they do not appear to interact with iTunes. I do not have any iDevice's (like an iPod or iPad) continuously hooked up that might be causing it to restart like this. I'm not wirelessly syncing my iDevices either.
I'm at a loss for what to do. I now have to decide if I really need to use iTunes at a particular moment, because I know I'll have to close the program up to ten times to get it to stay closed. Is this a known bug? Any solutions? I would rather not leave iTunes running in my system tray all day long and tie up resources.App purchases will require you to pay applicable sales tax.

My iTunes (10.2.2) application freezes immediately after opening. This is after having to check the library. I have left it frozen before for several minutes before force quitting. What should I do?

ITunes crashes immediately after launch
Hello,
Using an iMac running Mountain Lion with three profiles - myself, my wife and my oldest son. On my side of the computer iTunes starts just fine. When my wife and son log into their respective sides of the computer iTunes will load, and then crash immediately. I've tried to reinstall iTunes on each side of the computer with no success.
As an aside, the mac app store application crashes immediately after it launches as well for all three profiles on the computer.
Any ideas of what to do here?If you haven't tried already, uninstall your itunes completely (MacKeeper or CleanMyMac will do this) and reinstall the software. Possibly a glitch ocurred during your download. Also, make sure your system isn't too overloaded with junk (again MacKeeper and CleanMyMac), I ran into trouble with updates and downloads when my system was full of deleted software or reloaded software that left "fragments" in the system (not sure if thats the proper term but that's the only way I know how to put it).
Side note: simply putting Itunes in the trash isn't the best route to go. CleanMyMac was about $10.99 when I bought it, & MacKeeper is around $40 but is full of helpful operations and is definitely worth the investment, especially with its AntiVirus and help center.
Hope this helps. -
ITunes reopens automatically after quiting
This problem has been happening through the last few updates. I quit (or even force quit) iTunes, and it reopens automatically. It's a real problem now because it's actually preventing me from shutting down my Mac. I have no programs running with it except for TuneUp, but iTunes will automatically restart even with TuneUp disabled. Please help me.
I have the same problem over here, it is really annoying because i cant even shut down my mac,
i had to force shutdown on the button twice, because of this problem.
Does anyone else has this problem ? -
Lost ability to access iTunes via Airport after Force Quit - Network issue?
I am not sure if this is iTunes or networking related, but all other networking appears ok.
First my setup: multiple machines use iTunes library from an external HD connected to Airport Extreme, OS 10.4.11, iTunes 7.6.2.
I had been updating ratings in the iTunes library on the external drive connected to the AE and I was connected to the AE via Ethernet with Airport Card on PB turned off. I went to move the PB to another location so I turned Airport Card on and disconnected the Ethernet cable with the iTunes app and database open (dumb move apparently). The iTunes app appeared to lock up along with the PB, I was able to force quit thru it, and now I have an unresolved issue that has me stumped.
After numerous restarts of the PB, I can access the iTunes library on this AE server via the ethernet connection (as it was before attempting to move), and all of the ratings I had changed appear to have been saved. But I can not get iTunes to access the library via wireless (Airport Card).
I have restarted the AE and the connected drive both. I have restarted the PB numerous times. If I login on PB with ethernet connected there is no issue, if I login with airport active only there is an issue. All attempts to start iTunes and accessing the library wirelessly result in no success, sometimes can quit normally, sometimes must force quit. I can option start iTunes to access/create library on internal drive and also can create a new library on the external AE server. Also all other wireless networking activity regarding that server has no issue (access , copy, move files etc...)
I've tried removing iTunes pref files in user library and that didn't fix anything. The application itself works fine with the database when connected via ethernet or with internal library.
Anyone have any clues or suggestions on where I should turn to try and fix this? I can try to provide more details if needed, but I am stumped short of potentially aggravating the issue with re installs and other potential attempts that may not even be related to the issue.
ThanksNo disk maintenance recently. I have a week old backup of the entire iTunes folder along with the Library. I tried moving that backup Library (file only) into the AE server location but that did not change anything in terms of access.
I am on lunch break so no time to try your suggestions immediately, but will later this evening. I had thought about trying with a new user but hadn't gone there yet. I also have a G4 iMac ethernet connected all the time to the AE, but it has a AE card also typically not in use. I tried accessing with the iMac machine wirelessly, and although it progressed further (got the iTunes menu bar to display - never even got that on the PB), iTunes was not able to load which makes it almost seem not machine specific but rather something with the AE settings or the usb connected drive, but again all is fine there via ethernet.
Last night after original post, on the PB, I thought about a corrupted keychain type thing perhaps not allowing file access wirelessly, and I did have something to repair there, but it did not solve the issue.
Again, thanks for the suggestions and I'll try later tonight. Let me know if my additional info sheds any further light or if it would indicate that the suggestions were on the wrong track.

ITunes reopening itself after I closed it.
I clicked the red X button to exit iTunes, but after a few seconds, itunes will automatically reopen itself once again.
Any help to solve this issue will be appreciated =D
EDIT: Just tried ending the itunes*32.exe process.. it managed to solve the issue. but are there other easier methods to solve this ?

nullis your ipod connected? if it is, i noticed it will reopen non stop for me. other reasons ive found for reopening are things like the dell dock or object dock. basically any program that uses itunes can make it open randomly. its pretty lame. just look at everything that uses it and eliminate them one by one till you find it. (i disconnected my printer and it worked...no i dea how that has anything to do with itunes but you know what whatever works lol)

ITunes reopens itself after closing
Greetings,
Since version 5 I and many others whom I know cannot close iTunes. It closes then immediately re-opens itself. Even using Task Manager to close it, it simply re-opens itself again, and in the end the only way to close iTunes is to re-boot the computer.
I have sent Apple about 50 emails with regard to this problem, as have many other people I know, but none of us has ever received a reply.
I believe this is a common problem.
I have managed to ascertain that the first opening of iTunes uses the path C:\Programs\iTunes, but that all automatic re-openings thereafter carry a suffix: C:\Programs\iTunes\ -embedding.
I have disabled all my security software and the problem persists.
Please does anybody know how to resolve this problem?
Thank you,
nippaulsPROBLEM RESOLVED!
Here is what I did and it has fixed the issue of iTunes continually re-opening itself after closing with reference to DCOM and embedding.
I disabled DrWatson by editing the following registry key from 1 to 0:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug = 0
I disabled DCOM by editing the following registry key from Y to N:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLE\EnableDCOM = N
Then I restarted the computer.
Then, using Control Panel, I removed iTunes and restarted.
Then I went to C:\Programs and deleted EVERY folder relating to iTunes and iPod. If a folder refuses to be deleted, open Task Manager and terminate the relevant iPod process then it will be possible to delete the folder.
I then cleared my Prefetch folder, temp folder, and then recycle bin.
I restarted the computer, and re-installed iTunes.
PROBLEM RESOLVED
Hope this helps other users with similar problems.

ITunes freezes immediately after i open it.
When I open iTunes it freezes almost immediately.
This article is a good starting point for freezes:

Also have you been downloading podcasts from the iTunes store? In the past problems downloading podcasts have caused freezing. -

ITunes crashing immediately after launching.
I opened iTunes this morning and after about 3 seconds windows gave me the "iTunes has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution" message. This is about the same interval it takes for iTunes to ask me if I want to upgrade (I'm on 10.2.1.1). After about ten seconds of the Windows message, I get this error:

Last night it was working just fine. I haven't tried reinstalling yet-- wanted to see if there was a fix that didn't involve that, but if I can't get it up and running before evening rolls around I figure that that's my next step.Tried reinstalling it, I'm getting the same error message as before.

ITunes crashed immediately after purchase -- songs never downloaded.
Yesterday I bought two albums and a single from the iTunes store. They were put in the download queue, and four songs from the first album were downloaded successfully.
Then iTunes crashed. Thank you, verson 7.
When I reloaded the program the four songs I downloaded were in the Purchased area of iTunes, but the rest of that album, the entire second album, and the single were nowhere to be found. They weren't in my Shopping Cart, they weren't on my machine.
$22 for four songs. Wheee.
I sent in a support ticket from the purchase history area, but I received no confirmation email or anything to indicate that anyone was even aware of the problem. It's impossible to find a human being to talk to, and I have no idea how long it's going to take.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Any pointers? Any chance that I might get a refund? Because really, $5.50 a song is ridiculous.Fro-Man,
The best way to get support on an iTunes Store issue is to fill out their support webform.
Go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/download/
and tell them what you told me and they'll get things straightened out for you. They can get it put back in your download queue.
