ITunes update corrupt

The recent iTunes update is corrupt!  do no install!!

I tried to install the latest version and had a problem with the install. It would not start one of the services and kept trying to. I tried installing thru apple updater and downloading my own copy, still no go. I restored my drive to a time before the attempted installation and ran a repair of the previous version that was installed. I won't be trying this again either! I hope the next version is better tested than this one.

Can anyone help me? The iTunes update corrupted my program. I uninstalled, and then reinstalled iTunes; only to find an error message about iTunes Helper. After several fruitless, repeat attempts, I am at a loss. Please help…

    Many thanks.
With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • ITunes update corrupted some of my music files so iTunes can't find the file, nor music I  bought from the iTunes store.

After an iTunes generated update of iTunes, some of my music can't be accesed any more. When I try to play the file, iTunes says it can't find the link. This also happens with music I purchase from the iTunes store, so I've lost all this music; do I have to re-buy the purchased music again? My iTunes program is on my C drive, and the music library is on my D drive. In iTunes, I've set the ripped music to be placed in my D drive. The lost links are on some music files, but not others which do play music. Some compilation music files were split up into individual files, usually without LP art attached. Some album art was placed on wrong albums as well. Music with lost links have a ! mark beside the song name. File info says the link is on my C drive, but I can't find it there. Any ideas on how to get these lost files back. Thanks, Moizy.

    Try this...
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Latest itunes update corrupted my itunes!  Tried to download itunes and computer won't accept it!!

Just updated itunes to latest version.  After update, installed, I tried going into itunes and it was corrupt and stated to download itunes again.  Tried that and it failed.  Itunes will not install on my pc.  Up until the itunes update, ALL WAS WELL!

My previous version of iTunes was working fine!  Then, I attempted to download the latest version now 3 times with it failing each time.  I got the corruption error message one time and it hung up two times.  Now I have no iTunes!  This is the first time that I have ever had a serious download problem.  Something must be wrong with the Apple software.

  • ITunes update corrupt. Will not update

I downloaded the update for iTunes 11.0.3, when I try to open it I get this message:" this copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes."
I have tried downloading from app store and directly from apple. It says the same thing.
I do not know what to do!! Please help!

So you're saying that you restored as new, then tried to backup again and iTunes will not complete the backup - correct?
Perhaps you have a corrupt backup in iTunes that is causing a problem. Without connecting the iPad to your computer, launch iTunes and go to Edit>Perferences>Devices. If you have multiple backups, delete all but one. If you only have one backup, delete it. Click OK. And then quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer and try to backup again.

  • Itunes update corrupted my computer

I updated iTunes yesterday and it caused my computer to turn itself off after 2 mins each time I tried to use it.   I have had to uninstall it to get my Computer to work.  Is this a known fault and have I lost my music?

  • New iTunes update corrupts ipod and BSOD on win7 laptop

I upgraded my iTunes this week. I bought some songs this morning. I then connected my ipod to transfer them. My ipod corrupted. Windows then crashed and on startup, the Blue Screen of Death then appeared. This is incredibly annoying and I regret not using amazon mp3.

meh. i am tired of itunes. there is my solution. uninstalling it once and for all, as it is a memory hog and has always given me problems when i update it, and so forth. never had these kinds of issues with it, but i need my music and need to be able to listen to it, so that's my solution. thanks.

  • TS1538 Today's iTunes update corrupted my Windows 7 PC - anyone else?

So this morning (Jan 24th) I openedmy Dell (Windows 7) laptop and as usual (a weekly event it seems) there was the good ol' Apple software update window.  I ran the update and get the following messages when I try to start iTunes:
"The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing..."
    and then "Error 7".
It was running fine before this update.
    1.  Has anyone else had this happen?
    2.  Does anyone know of any way to get this information to "someone in charge" at Apple?
    Thanks!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • TS1717 I am on Windows 7. Yesterday I ran an update on iTunes, today when I try to launch iTunes I get the following message: This copy of iTunes is corrupted or not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. I am worried that I have now lost my music

I am on Windows 7. Yesterday I ran an iTunes update and today I receive this message when I try to launch iTunes: This copy of iTunes is corrupted and not installed correctly. Please re-install iTunes. I am woried that I have already lost my music and don't want to re-install.

I found this on another discussion board and it really helped, I didn't have to uninstall anything and didn't lose any music
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".

My Windows XP software recently had an automatic update and now when I open iTunes, I receive the message "This copy of iTunes is corrupted or is not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes."
I have not used iTunes for several weeks so the issue may not be related to the last Windows XP automatic upgrade.  I have never had problems with iTunes in the past.  Is this a real message or perhaps a virus?
Before I reinstall iTunes, any thoughts?

    It's a real message.
Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:
Can you launch your iTunes now?

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.
