ITunes will not upgrade on Win 7 64 Bit

Hi,
I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-Bit.
I am trying to upgrade from iTunes 10.1.0.54 to the current version.
When I try to use Apple Software Update, it downloads but I get an install error and it tells me to try and download it separately.
When I downloaded iTunes from the Apple web site, the error I get was that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. I downloaded the 64-bit version of iTunes.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks!

but then I got a problem: the installation said I had a newer version of QuickTime then the one the iTunes.exe came with
It's okay ... we're still making progress. With these ones there's also (relatively) commonly additional trouble with the QuickTime.msi and associated installation configuration information that can produce that new error message. So there's a way forward, but there's a bit of awkwardness involved in getting the tools for the job.
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Quicktime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try reinstalling iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • My itunes will not start in Win XP. I get an error that says MSVCR80.dll can't be found. I am scared if I just reinstall iTunes that I will lose all my music and apps that are in the old itunes. What can I do.

My iTunes will not start in Win XP. I am getting an error that says MSVCR80.dll can't be found. I am concerned that if I just do a reinstall
of  iTunes it will overwrite or delete all the music and apps I have on the current app that won't start. When I boot the PC I get the following:
APSDaemon.exe - unable to locate. MSVCR80.dll not found. Reinstalling application may fix this problem. How can I get iTunes started without losing
all my music and apps? Thanks

It won't unless a problem occurs. Back them up, uninstall iTunes and all related components, and reinstall them.

  • ITunes will not launch on Win 7 32-bit

It was working fine a week and a half ago when I used it last, but now iTunes will not launch. It just shows up in the task manager Processes tab and nothing in the Applications tab. I have followed the instructions provided here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
and still nothing. I have also done a complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and Quicktime. I am pretty much at the end of my rope and I am hoping someone has a suggestion that works.

We could try renaming the APSDaemon.exe file.
In Computer, open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive your program files are installed on.
On a 32-bit version of Windows 7, open the "Program Files" folder.
On a 64-bit version of Windows 7, open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
    Open the "Common Files" folder.
    Open the "Apple" folder.
Open the "Apple Application Support" folder.
Rename the APSDaemon.exe file APSDaemonDISABLED (or something like that).
Does that stop the iTunes issue?

  • Itunes will not open on win 7 pc after oct update?

I am running a win7 pc-64bit os and itunes will not open since I updated it in Oct. I have attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the itunes s/w several times. I have tried without a firewall and with anti-virus programs disconnected. I do not get an error message. Itunes launches with a blank screen and the busy "spinner" spins until I reboot. Anybody with a similar problem or a solu

I don't know if this will help you  but I just went through this. After three weeks of thinking it was my firewall and making all the adjustments suggested by apple, I discovered it was my Net Nanny software that was blocking my way. I had one character wrong in the accepted lists on websites and so it looked right to me when I checked. It wasn't until I completely uninstalled the software and reinstalled, and re-entered all my lists that I realized the error. Now it is working great. So you may want to check your list of approved websites VERY carefully or re-enter them on you firewall software or any content blocking software you may have.
    Hope that helps.

  • Itunes will not upgrade MSVCR80.dll is missing

I run itunes on Windows Vista PC. I tried to upgade to the latest version but the upgrade failed. When i tried to open itunes i got a message that MSVCR80.dll is missing. Having seen various advice I tried to uninstall itunes. i have removed all that is advised but Apple Mobile Device Support will not remove. It gets almost to the end of removal process but then reverts back. I have tried reinstalling itunes but that wont work either. I only have basic IT knowledge so be gentle with me.

I know you've already fixed this one, Carol, but for other people reading this post, the following user tip might be useful:

  • ITunes will not upgrade my app store apps

I have several apps on my 3G iPhone and updating them over the air is fine, however when I sync with iTunes 7.7 this causes them to revert to the earlier versions. iTunes recognises that the apps have updates and places an icon telling me so in the Library menu on the left but when I click 'Check for updates' I get a message telling me 'No updates found. Check back later'.
This is driving me mad, I know I can tell iTunes not to sync my apps but I shouldn't have to do this. Anyone know of a solution? Cheers.

That's because iOS 5 is only compatible with 3GS, 4, 4s ipad ipad 2 and itouch 3rd and 4th generation

  • Itunes will not upgrade, won't sync with ipod

One day everything was fine, the next day, when I tried to synch my 80G ipod classic, error msg said I needed version 7.6 or newer. I tried to download version 7.7, it says I need to check with system administrator. (that would be me). What gives? It used to be fine. I can still add music to my library, but cannot synch them to ipod. Also, for awhile I couldn't open itunes until I removed quicktime then downloaded version 7.7 of itunes (with quicktime). Now I can open itunes, but still no upgrade or synch. Any ideas. I think apple screwed up big time

I tried uninstalling itunes. It won't allow it. Says older version is preventing it.
What's the precise text of your error messages please? In particular are any of them mentioning an iTunes.msi file?

  • ITunes will not install on a 64 bit PC Win 7

iTunes will not install on a 64 bit PC running Windows 7 with all updates.
Most answers send you to a "cleaner" of somekind that check for errors in you PC and then wants to charge you to clean it.  My PC is CLEAN.
Something is keeping iTunes from installing and running.  Tried 64 bit, 32 bit and all help desks.
Same error message "This version is for a 32 bit computer, yours is a 64 bit!"  I know that and only install the 64 bit version!!!

Same error message "This version is for a 32 bit computer, yours is a 64 bit!"
Doublechecking ... by any chance did you migrate a 32-bit version of the iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support and Bonjour programs to the 64-bit machine from a 32-bit machine using the PC Mover utility?
(Your symptoms are consistent with that ... the installer service throws the message when trying to uninstall the 32-bit itunes and related 32-bit componentry prior to installing the new 64-bit versions.)

  • I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searxhed evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason.

I have windows 7 64 bit but the new itunes will not install because it can't find itunes64.msi.  I have searched evertwhere on my pc. In addition, I can't uninstall the itunes and reinstall for the same reason. I can't upgrade for my icloud account.

    Try the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Follow the instructions from Apple article listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 to remove all components
    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

Oh, you do have the C2D! That's great!
I'm no technical expert, I just like to help out whenever or wherever I can so... I don't know if this can help you, but let me tell you about how I got my Snow Leopard to run in 64 bit mode. When I got my (late 2008) iMac it was running in 32 bit mode under Tiger (2.4 GHz/Core 2 Duo). I eventually upgraded to Snow Leopard & it was running in 32 bit mode (by default) w/1 GB RAM.
Somewhere along the line, I happened to watch a YouTube Video that showed how to upgrade an iMac's RAM, so I ordered two - 2GB sticks of Crucial RAM and then - under the guidance of the 14 or 15 year-old young man who posted the video on YouTube; wearing a rather fashionable static-electricity-neutralizer-wrist-strap, I removed 1GB of RAM & plugged in the 4GBs of RAM. So - boom like that, it was like I bought a brand new machine.
It was over a year later when I stumbled across a way to boot Snow Leopard into 64 bit mode. Turns out that if you boot while holding down the 6 & 4 key combo (the ones above the QWERTY keys), then the machine runs in 64 bit mode. Go figure. Now my Snow Leopard and just about all of my applications - with the ironic exception of iTunes - runs in 64 bit. iTunes seems fine though; if there's a performance bottleneck, I really can't tell.
    Well, that's about it..
I hope that something I've mentioned can help you achieve your overall goal.
Finally, it's hard to jump onto a train, a large cat, or a surfboard that's already moving. But don't be surprised when someone a fraction of your age shows you how to.
    Best Regards,
    mm~

  • I just downloaded Itunes 11.1.4 (64-bit) and am running Windows 7, Itunes will not open and I get an error message about Microsoft runtime and I get an error R6034 and 1114 which says Itunes was installed incorrectly. Can anyone help?

I just downloaded Itunes 11.1.4 (64-bit) update and am running Windows 7.  Itunes will not run after installing this update and I receive an error message R6034 on Loading Microsoft C Runtime Library incorrectly.  Also Error message 1114 the Itunes Installer was installed incorrectly.  Is there an new update for this problem? Is anyone else having this problem?  Please help.  Thanks.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
