  • ITunes won't see my iPod, syncing

Hey, I just upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and my iTunes will no longer see my iPod when I plug it in via my USB. I know the USB port works fine (everything else plugged in there always works). If I re-install iTunes it will usually see my iPod but I really don't want to keep re-installing iTunes just to sync my iPod with my music.
    Any ideas?

    HI and welcome......
    Mac OS X (10.6.3)
If you forum profile is correct, update the Mac OS X to v10.6.5. If you didn't repair permissions after upgrading to v10.6, you should do that.
Click your Apple menu / Software Update...
    Then repair disk permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see any warnings re: SUID messages, they can be safely ignored, information here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US

  • ITunes won't backup iPad when syncing

I've had the iPad since May. Soon after, when syncing, the back-up phase seemed to stop progressing. iTunes hadn't frozen - it looks like its doing something... but the green bar stops moving.
When I click the little (X) on the itunes display, it then skips the backup phase and continues to sync. This is how I've been doing it for a while.
With iOS 3.2.1 and a backup is mandatory, once again it sits... no ipad upgrade for me.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it easy to correct?

Yesterday I put the iPad in to backup immediately. 5hrs later i got an error message after the bar had got 50% along... "itunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later.
This article clued me in: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2690
I have Endpoint Protection for a clients network I VPN into. I uninstalled the checkpoint programs and voila!, backup took about 15min and then another 10min to upgrade to 3.2.1
I wouldn't say this issue is wrapped up... next time I connect to this VPN the Endpoint Protection will re-install itself, which I will have to uninstall to backup and sync the ipad... and round n round it goes.

Did you try reinstalling the app and contacting the developer (there should be a contact link on the app's description page in the store) ? If you don't get a reply from the developer then you could try
'report a problem' link from the purchase history on your computer's iTunes instead of on your iPad : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • ITunes won't connect iPad

I have hooked up my iPad to my laptop but iTunes won't bring it up as a device. I am using Windows 8.1, and the latest versions of iTunes and I have the latest version on my iPad. I do see my iPad as device in my laptop directory so I know my USB cable connection is good. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Itunes won't detect ipad 2

I've installed and re-installed the latest itunes 64bit on my win 7 machine. yet itunes will not detect it.
I've tried multiple usb cables. tried differnt usb ports yet to no avail.
every so often it will detect and let me sync but 99% of the time its an everyday battle to get my ipad to detect on itunes.
I have an iphone 4 that seems to detect fine. yet i can't figure out why ipad 2 wont detect. I've even restored my ipad 2.
I've tried everything I can think of.
I even formatted my computer, download itunes and install it on a fresh system and same problem.
I'm at my wits end. I can't understand why its so hard to detect it.
device manager sees it fine. but itunes locks up when i connect the ipad 2. if I disconnect it, itunes becomes available. Everytime I connect my ipad itunes throws a fit and becomes unusable for like 5 min, a very long pause as it thinks about something.
anyone have a workaround for this?
I went to the apple store and a tech there told me, buy a mac, that will sole your problem....seriously?
then he said or uninstall and reinstall. which I've done several times, that does not fix the problem.

So glad I stumbled on this particular post. And unfortunate that no seems to have a solution. I have the EXACT same symptoms: brought back an iPad 2 tonight, and it took me about 10 times to connect/disconnect the USB cable, change port on the PC, change the USB cable, rset the iPad, etc, before iTunes would see it. The PC recognizes it fine, but iTunes freezes until I disconnect the USB cable. Very annoying.
I've also tried starting iTunes before and after connecting the iPad 2, to see if it would make a diff.
I was able earlier tonight to have it recognized, to sync everything up. But now it's acting up again.
PC runs the latest iTunes 10.2.1, iPad is now on the latest 4.3.1, and the PC as well as iTunes sees the iPhone 4 fine everytime, and runs smoothly otherwise for everything. I do believe the 'handshake' between iPad 2 -> iTunes is somewhat not working.
[ADDITONAL COMMENT] Forgot to mention: I had a iPad 1 before, and it was also working fine every time.

Hello! I reinstalled windows on my notebook and i have next problem: itunes did not see my ipad. In manager device i deleted this driver, reconnected ipad and windows saw it right, but itunes did not see the device. Connect your Device to Computer. Select your iPhone under "Devices" on the left Pane. On the right Pane, select INFO tab. Scroll down to make sure SYNC CONTACT box is checked and select Windows Mail option. Then click the SYNC or APPLY button on the lower right Window

  • ITunes doesn't "see" iPad

I have a new Macbook Pro 2.66 / 8 GB, 15" and an iPad and an iPhone. The problem is that every now and then - about once a day or so, iTunes doesn't see the iPad or iPhone when they are plugged in. The device starts charging but there is no indication that a sync is occuring.
Following the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747 I reinstall iTunes and replace the AppleMobileDevice kexts and then things are fine, but after another day or so the problem occurs again. I have not been able to determine what might be causing that. Any idea?

This totally does not address the problem. I have had my iPad for only a few days and I'm about to return it. I've been able to sync it once, after installing a new OS, then uninstalling iTunes... and then it just grabbed everything/apps from my iPod, most of which I would not have put on the new machine. Now I want to sync the apps I've purchased on the iPad and some music/movies and the computer doesn't "see" the iPad at all.
Users should not have to wipe/restore the machine. If Apple insists on using iTunes as a portal for all things iPad, then iTunes needs a serious overhaul. It's a music tool now being used to hobble a much more dynamic machine.
Anyhow - I like the iPad, but Apple isn't really letting me use it if I have to sync via iTunes, but iTunes isn't a functional tool.
Thanks - please give me an option other than reinstalling iTunes many times a doy or returning my iPad.

  • Computer won't see ipad

I just purchased a new ipad.  itunes doesn't see the new ipad.  My old ipad shows up in devices, but the new one won't.  When I hook it to the computer the computer does ask if I want to download videos so I know the cable is working.

This doesn't make sense to me. What videos is it asking to download? From where? Or is the computer seeing your iPad as a camera and asking if you want to import movies from the iPad to the PC?
You might find some help here.
