IWork '05 re-install

This applies to both Pages and Keynote. I recently had to restore the software on my Mac, but when I try to re-install iWork '05 from the install DVD, I get all the way through the installer to where it says "INSTALL". I click on "INSTALL" and it gives me a error message that says, "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install." Argggghhhhh. Why isn't there anything to install. I need to use Pages again, but i can't seem to find out why it won't work. Any solutions?

That error message usually means the installer sees the receipt from the previous install & thinks the program is installed. Take a look at a tip I wrote not long after the iWork '05 trial was released with Tiger in April, 2004 - Can’t install iWork after using the iWork trial. The bottom section lists all the pieces that need to be removed before the installer will work.

  • If I can't find the start up disks, is there anyway to get iWork back after installing a new hard drive?

I had to install a new hard drive because my orginal one crashed. When I bought my macbook, iWork came pre-installed. Now with a new hard drive I would like iWork back on my computer, but can't find the start up disks, assuming I'd be able to do it that way. Is there anyway I can contact Apple and have them give me the iWork software?
(Overall, very upset about this since my macbook is only 2 years old and I lost everything. A friend of mine has been working on it for 3 weeks trying to recover some data.)

    - Did you restore from a backup that contained the photos?
    - The backup only contains photos in the iPod's Camera Roll album. It does not included photos synced to the iPod.
    - All you can do is try restoring from backup again.

  • IWork '09 Trial Install Help

I downloaded iWork '09 Trial Install twice and there is an icon on my screen but I can not get into iWork. When I click on the icon it only gives me the option to re-install not enter the trial program. Any ideas? I have a MAC OS X.

iWork is a series of Applications that includes Pages, Numbers & Keynote. If you want to run one of those apps you can navigate to the Applications folder and locate it or use Spotlight to start it. Personally I prefer Spotlight, just click the spotlight icon in the upper right of this screen (it looks like a magnifying glass) and type Pages or Numbers or Keynote depending on the app you want to run. The keyboard shortcut for Spotlight is Command + Spacebar.
Another way to open one of the apps is if you have an Applications folder on your Dock you can navigate to the iWork 09 folder click it and then choose the app  you want to run.

  • Uninstall iWork '08 before installing iWork '09?

What's the official / recommended way of doing things? Are you supposed to uninstall iWork '08 before installing iWork '09. I installed iWork '09 on a MacBook, but it didn't replace iWork '08. It installed alongside it.
Is there a proper way of uninstalling iWork '08, or do you simply drag the iWork '08 folder (containing the 3 apps) to the Trash?

You're not going to find an "official" way to delete from the other users here, but we can give our recommendations. Uninstalling is as easy as dragging the whole iWork '08 folder to the Trash & emptying the Trash. You can also use some third-party app deleting programs such as AppZapper.
For the moment, I have iWork '06, '08 & '09 installed on my MacBook Pro. I'm waiting for my boxed version of iWork '09 to arrive before installing it on my iMac. I want to see how installing from the CD/DVD is different than installing over the trial. I have not had '08 & '09 both open at the same time yet, but I have had '06 & '08 open at the same time in the past.

  • How do I find a serial number if my iWork came pre-installed?

I bought iWork preinstalled on my computer, through a discount service from my office. I tried using Pages for the first time and its asking me for a serial number. How do I get one? Why do I need one if this was supposed to have been installed at the factory? The registration message said it should be on a receipt emailed to me but I'm 99% certain I never received a receipt via email. What do I do?

There is no pre installed version.
Its just a free demo you asked Apple to put on your computer.
We don't ask them to install the free demo. As far as I know, it's factory installed on every machine or at least, there is an install CD in the box.
You paid for a registration code, no more no less.
I had purchased my computer several months ago, and because everything was in working order I no longer have the invoice.
How long is the machine guaranteed in the USA ?
In France it's at least one year. So, here everybody keeps invoice at least one year
As far as I know, iWork'08 was introduced in August 2007 so it was less than one year ago.
Does Apple have a record of my purchase and my registration somewhere so I can implement?
If you bought from AppleStore online, I'm sure that they have the references of your invoice but I don't know if they have a copy of your registration code.
    I wrote:
+If your order asked for a machine + iWork, there is a line notifying the iWork's price on your invoice _and you where sent_ a document with the registration number.+
It's the late document which you need.
The invoice is only a proof that your order was for a machine PLUS a registration code.
You may try to call them but get at least the serial number of your machine to help them to retrieve tracks of your order.

  • Can't see anything in iWork 08 after installing it on my new MacBook Pro

I recently reinstalled IWork 08 in my new MacBook Pro.  I was using it on my old MacBook Pro, which my wife now has.  When I open any of the programs, everything is white. If I double click any text that may be in the file, it can be viewed as highlighted.  But otherwise everything is white.  My Keynote presentations don't display anything; no themes, no backgrounds, nothing.
Could this be becasue it is still installed on my old machine?

If you installed iWork from the disk, did you run the updates?
If you copied the app over from the old Mac you would also need a copy of the iWork '08 folder which is in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support

  • The latest versions of iWork are not installing from the AppStore

I have a new iMac with the bundled copies of Pages 5.0, Keynote 6.0 and Numbers 3.0
The AppStore showed Updates so I updated these and AppStore now things I have Pages 5.1, Numbers 3.1 and Keynote 6.1 installed.
However the versions in my Applications folder stubbornly remain the old versions.  When I open the Apps they say "A new version is available" so I click on Update which takes me to the App Store which says the software is all up-to-date!
How do I get the latest versions
(Other apps seem to owrk OK - e..g latest update to iMovie worked fine)
    Thanks

Pretty much the same - https://discussions.apple.com/message/24697344#24697344.
Today, the App Store is again offering me updates to these iWork apps (for the 4th time, now) e.g. Pages 5.1. etc
Although it said it had updated to 5.1 last time, the /Library/Receipts/InstallHistory.plist indicates that Apple downloaded 5.0.1 again! So of course when I opened it after updating, it was still 5.0.1.
These forums seem to be quite angry still about these latest versions of iWork vs the previous '09 versions, see also this in the Pages forum https://discussions.apple.com/message/24701724#24701724. Not sure that there is much interest in getting 5.1 issues solved?
    Cheers

  • Unable to open files made in iWork '08 without installing original software

After re-installing my original Mac OSX to try to cure another issue, I find I'm unable to open my Numbers '08 files unless I re-install the original software.
The following message appears: Files that iWork needs are missing. To restore the missing files, use the iWork Installer to re-install iWork.
I can't remember whether I actually bought the disks, or whether I downloaded the software on line, as I'm unable to find any trace of software in the house.
Is the iWork '08 software still available, and if so, where can I download it from?

As far as I know, the answer is No. I have also found it safer to re-build all my MS1 concerts in MS2 rather than importing them from MS1.
It doesn't cost too much to upgrade from MS1 to MS2.

  • IWork 09 Disc install not activated after running iWork trial!

Can anyone help me with an iWork 09 disc installation?
I downloaded the iWork 09 trial onto my MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2010) and used it successfully for the 30 days. I then purchased the iWork 09 boxed DVD.
(Before inserting the DVD and installing iWork 09, I removed the iWork 09 trial, as well as the previous iWork 08 licensed version. I think I made a big mistake doing this!?)
After installing iWork 09 from the disc and launching it, it keeps requesting me to buy a serial number online! I have already followed the instructions of inserting the DVD again and reinstalling.... it just overwrites the existing files. Still the same problem on launching Pages, Numbers or Keynote!
iWork 08 was much better when they shipped a serial number with the boxed disc!
This new iWork 09 without a serial number in the box is just stupid!!??
How are you supposed to activate it??
Should I not have removed the trial version before installing from the disc?

  • IWork 09 not installing on MacBook but installed on MacBook Pro

I recently purchased a copy of iWork 09 (family pack) from the Apple store.
It installed fine on my MacBook Pro and I can see a new folder called iWork 09 in Applications.
But when I try and install iWork 09 on any of my 3 MacBooks, the installer completes, the MacBook reboots and there is no trace of iWork 09.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Robert

I don't remember seeing a reboot at the end of the install process.
Is the iWork '09 CD a bootable one ?
When you do the installation, are you in an account with administrator privileges ?

  • Can IWork 08' be installed in 2 computers if needed be?

Is it possible to install IWork 08' into 2 laptops or would I have to purchase another software bundle?
    Thanks for any responses!

I haven't been using Macs quite as long as you, only since 2000 when I got my G4 PowerMac, which was my first computer.
The only Apple software I've bought prior to iLife and iWork have been OS upgrades and I've only needed to install them on the one computer (PowerMac from OS9 to Jaguar, Panther and then Tiger; both my Mac Mini and MacBook came with Tiger). I've bought the Family Pack for Leopard, though so far have only installed it on my laptop, with the others, both mine and my husband's, to follow when we've upgraded otherwise incompatible software (and hardware in the case of the PowerMac).
I was unaware that Apple didn't have the same policy with program software as many other companies, who allow installation on one desktop and one laptop.
I said "perhaps it's time" because nowadays more people, myself included, have both a desktop and laptop for individual personal use than used to be the case.

  • Can I delete iWork'06 after iWork'09 retail install ?

I see that my iWork'06 folder at Applications is ~1.95Gb which I would like to free from the HD. Is there any problem if I do that? I've already installed the retail version of iWork'09

KeyNote '09 can no longer save to Flash.
Other things have changed as well. Some for the better.

  • Iwork isn't installing

i'm new to this apple computer, i got it from a friend.
i'm trying to install iwork and trying to connect to my app store. it keeps wanting me to put my bank details in so i do that and apparently i needed to make a payment and that it's failed. what do i do.

iwork '09 will not remove '08. You will need to do that manually. There are pieces/parts in applications; home/library/application support; library/receipts; library/application support and perhaps some others.
I would suggest first saving any custom templates you use. Templates are in user/application support/iwork. Save them to your desktop. Then download easyfind from www.devon-technologies.com (under downloads at the bottom of the page under freeware). Then do a search in easyfind for iwork and delete folders and files that it locates. Then install '09. You should be good to go.

  • IWork update not installing on Lion

I got Lion today. One of the features I was most looking forward to was Auto-save and Versions. But then I learned you had to update iWork for these features to apply in those programs. So i went to the Apple update site and downloaded the iWork update. When I went to install it, however, it said:
"An eligible Keynote application was not found in the location /Applications/iWork '09."
I checked and Keynote is entirely up to date. So what's going on? I would really like to be able to use the new features as soon as possible. Thanks for any help!
    Cheer,
    Jellyfrank

I found the answer in another discussion. I had moved the iWork applications out of the iWork folder so I could acess them more quickly. However, the installer was looking for a folder called 'iWork '09', which no longer existed. I hope people can learn from my mistake!

  • Trial iWork won't install

My iMac came with a trial of iWork but I have not been able to get it to install. It starts to install & then says "There were errors installing the software" " Please try installing again". I have tried 4 or 5 times with the same result.

    Hi,
Yes, it's a brand new iMac. No, the iWork package is just a trial one. Since I'm also having problems with my Appleworks, I have only the 30 day trial of Microsoft Word that I can use for word processing!
