Jabber 9.0.2 cloud deployment and Auto-Start options

We're getting ready to roll out Jabber 9.0.2 to about 2,000 users in a Cloud scenario (WebEx Connect + SAML).  We have our software deployment package set and tested, but we are unable to programatically tick the 'Automatically start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts' check box.  Since we're not running anything on-prem, I don't think we can do anything with a jabber-config.xml, can we?
Thanks!

Hi,
In the 9.1 release of Jabber for Windows, there will  be an option to configure it via jabber-config.xml file but that will  still require the manual start of client atleast once. So the only  seemless option is to add it to the 'Run' registry folder as Aaron  mentioned in the above post.
Selecting/unselecting the option "Automatically start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts" in Jabber options creates/deletes a system registry in Run folder:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
Key Name = Cisco Jabber
Key Type   = String
ValueData  = "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\Cisco Jabber\CiscoJabber.exe"
Thanks,

  • Partition failing and auto-starting

    Hi,
Can anybody help regarding this problem
We have problem in our production environment regarding the partitions.
one of our partition(partA) crashing and auto starting frequently.
We were not getting any information (exceptions) in the log files.
We set some flags(memory and user defined) and checked the log files
eventhough we haven't got any messages or exceptions.
The partA having 3 Service Objects doesn't have DB conections.
Client partition will call this partition(partA) and from
    here it will go to
the another partition(partB) to talk with database.
The partA doesn't have replicates and
    partB has 6 replicates.
All Server partitions running on UNIX
    Client Partition running on NT.

Go to System Preferences > Users > [your username], tap on Login Items in the right pane. If the app you want to load isn't listed, you can click the "+", navigate to the app and tap "Add". Is this the procedure you are following?

  • Notifications and auto-start for Droplets ?

there is no way to set a notification when a batch is done... it can be done in Compressor by selecting an action and running a workflow... which is cumbersome by the way, I mean, can't we just get a notification center alert automatically ? ... in droplets there is no way to notify when a batch is finished.. in droplets there should also be an option to start batch automatically, without having to see the droplet window and clicking on "Start Batch"..

We are all hoping that Notifications support is added to Compressor in an update soon, it is not yet supported as it is in FCPX.  Fill out the feedback form and request it.

  • STWB_WORK and eCATT start options

    Hi,
starting eCatt execution from test plan (STWB_WORK) the variants tab is missing in start options screen.
This is the scenario under which we face the problem described above:
    1. start transaction STWB_WORK - Test organizer
    2. select a test package from the available ones
    3. select test automatically (using the "vise" icon)
Starting execution from SECATT transaction the start option include the variants TAB; I attribute this behaviour to last Support Package's application (SAPKB70103).
Does anyone have encountered this issue?

  • How to turn off iTunes auto-start when iPhone connected?

The option "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" is disabled (grayed out) in iTunes 10. The grayed-out check box is unchecked, yet iTunes starts every time I plug in my iPhone 3G. I would like to be able to plug in my phone without iTunes starting. Is there a way?

Right. Un-checking the preference to prevent auto-sync re-enabled the auto-start option. Then I was able to check and un-check the auto-start option and re-check the prevent auto-sync preference. Now all seems well. Despite appearances (the un-checked option), the internal setting was in the wrong state and twiddling it seems to have set things right.
What a boneheaded user interface, where items on widely separated parts of the UI affect each other invisibly.

  • Oracle8i on Windows 2000 Server - Oracle Instance don't auto start

I've installed the Oracle 8.1.7 on a Dell Pentium III server running Windows 2000 Server operational system. During the installation the Oracle Instance was started up, but after I reboot the computer, the Oracle Listener service and the Oracle service was started in automatic mode but the Oracle Instance do not started though.
My Oracle DBA teacher ask me to run Oradim and edit the Oracle configuration startup parameters. I did, but it didn't solve the problem. The values on Windows registry of the ORA_<SID>_AUTOSTART key is "true". The Dba Studio also gets information form the Oracle server and all the fields seems to be correct with auto-start option, but it didn't work out.
Can someone point me to any text I can read about installation troubles on Windows 2000 Server ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I don't have an 8i db to test on but I think it works the same as on 9i.
Check the following parameters in your registry in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME0:

  • Auto-Deployment and Restarting Managed Server

    Hi,
We are using WebLogic Server 7.0 SP2 on Solaris 8. Yesterday, a developer copied
over a new WAR file into the applications directory. Then he ried to restart the
managed server. This appeared to hang, so he tried restarting the admin. server,
which also failed. Looking at the log, it looks like the admin. server is trying
to deploy apps. from the applications/backup directory.
After I removed the backup directory and edited config.xml to remove all references
to this directory, I was able to startup the Admin. server (though there were
still some errors; see later) and the managed server.
The servers are actually running in "developemnt" mode and have the Aut-Deploy
feature enabled, so my theory is that the auto-deployment was conflicting with
the managed server restart. He shouldn't have had to restart the managed server
    since Auto-Deploy is enabled, right?
I'm also wondering about these errors I got when I the Admin. server finally started:

The short answer to your question is that auto-deployment and multiple
    servers don't mix.
If you have a single-server domain and choose to use auto-deployment,
    that'll work fine.
Once you have separate admin/managed servers, you need to use
weblogic.Deployer, the wldeploy ant task (8.1), or the console to deploy
    applications.

  • Help!! Auto-Deploy and Check For Updates in an OPMN-managed instance

I'm trying to use the auto-deploy and check for updates functions in an OAS 10.1.0.3 but I can not make it work.
I don't Know if this functions are only availables for a standalone OC4J instance.
    Can anyone help me??
Thanks!!! and sorry for my poor english.

Auto-Deploy is not really designed for an OPMN managed instance -- in earlier releases, this would not even work correctly since deployments where stored in the DCM subsystem and any subsequent configuration changes made via DCM would overwrite the config and you'd lose the "auto-deployed" application.
In 10.1.3.x where DCM is no longer in the picture, and the auto-deploy polling is a function of Oc4J itself, it may work. Be aware that this is not something that is tested in OPMN managed environments.
What configuration changes have you made?
You need to ensure you have modified server.xml so the attribute check-for-updates="all" and you've added the attribute application-auto-deploy-directory and have it pointing at a directory to watch.

  • Auto Deploy and Kickstart - pros and cons

I have an existing kickstart setup I am able to use for deploying a basic installation of ESXi as well as other OSes. For this, we PXE boot a server, go through a menu, and choose the appropriate option.   I'm evaluating using Auto Deploy.  Can I specify as a menu choice an option to use Auto Deploy instead of using kickstart?
    Also,
    - will VMware be replacing kickstart as an option with Auto Deploy?
    - any advantages/disadvantages between the two methods?  From what I've seen online, they seem comparable.

Thanks, this is helpful.  We do use Host Profiles, but we also have kickstart as our standard deployment method for physical servers, primarily for Linux, but it's also working for Windows and ESXi, too.  However, using it for ESXi means we deploy a server with a basic setup, and currently need to apply Host Profiles manually.  I'd like to use the existing kickstart infrastructure, and update the current ESXi install/upgrade choice to trigger an autodeploy of ESXi 6.0 to the hypervisor.
There seems to be some overlap between the two (e.g. both use TFTP and can use DHCP, and both deploy an OS onto the server, albeit with different methods).  What I specifically need here is:
    a. a way to, in the kickstart section to install ESXi 6.0, to trigger an auto deploy; I'd imagine I'd specify the auto deploy server as an option, e.g. ks= ... install=http://auto-deploy-server-ip-here/install/...
    OR
    b. a way to, in the kickstart ks.cfg configuration (in vmware's documentation, e.g. vSphere 6.0 Documentation Center, it refers to them as scripts), point to an autodeploy server to finish what kickstart starts.
    Thoughts?

Purchased Creative Cloud, deployed it, clicked "Install.pkg" and received "The Installation Failed" message.
I am installing on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6.8.
    What now?

This is how we resolved it. Used a 32GB Flash Drive formatted the drive HFS+ and then copied the PKG folder and files and then brought them to the target Mac and copied the files over and ran the PKG and Exceptions install. Everything seems to be installing fine now.

  • Cannot login to Cisco Jabber 10.5.1 over Mobile and Remote Access

    Hi,
We have deployed sucessfully VCS Expressway-C and VCS Expressway-E with only 1 zone which is "Unified Communication Traversal" and is for Mobile and Remote Access only. VCS-C and VCS-E are communicating and in statuses everything is active and working. Also VCS-C can communicate with CUCM and CUP (both version 10.5).
Problem is when I deploy Cisco Jabber 10.5.1 on computer outside of LAN and without VPN it start communicating with VCS-E, ask me for accepting certificate (we have certificate only intenally generated on Windows CA) and after that it is trying to connect and after few seconds it will tell me that it can't communicate with server.
Did any of you had same problem or can you advice how to troubleshoot? In Jabber logs there is only something like "Cannot authenticate" error message, but when I startup VPN I can authenticate without any problems.
    Thanks

On Expressway-C are your HTTP Allow Lists setup properly?  By default, and auto discovered CUCM and IMP should be listed via IP and Hostname, but if not, you'll need to insert manually.
Also, you can look at the config file your Expressway-E would be handing out to Jabber via this method.
    From the internet, browse to:
    https://vcse.yourdomain.com:8443/Y29sbGFiLmNvbQ/get_edge_config?service_name=_cisco-uds&service_name=_cuplogin
    Where:
vcse is your Expressway-E hostname (or CNAME/A record)
    yourdomain.com is your own domain
The first directory is your Base64 encoded domain name, remove and trailing equal signs (=)
The XML returned is basically the DNS SRV record information available as if internal for _cisco-uds and _cuplogin
TFTP DNS SRV is optional if you configured TFTP in IMP for your Legacy Clients.

  • Slow site, latency between cloud service and SQL Azure?

We have a web site that works pretty swiftly in a local development environment. But once deployed to Azure it slows down to a crawl (even for a single user). Some pages take 30-60 seconds to load. Even the simplest pages take between 5 and 10 seconds.
The app is rather data intensive, so the way I see it, there is a slow connection between the cloud service and the SQL node. We currently use S2 instance, the S1 and S0 didn't work at all because of timeouts. When we execute queries directly against the database,
they all return within milliseconds, so it is not a query performance issue. It seems that there is a big penalty on establishing the connection between the web node and SQL node.
I am not sure if this is a provisioning issue. At times it actually begins to work a bit faster. Not quite as fast in a local environment, but barely acceptable. But then it goes back to excruciatingly slow. Any advice is appreciated.

    Hi Mimo,
Is this a 5-20second load time something that occurs every time you load the page or just on the first time you load it (cold start)?  The default website  settings might tear down your site after a period of inactivity and I'm wondering
if that might be what's causing the performance issues.
Couple of things you might want to check :
    - Increase the Instance count
    - Check the Monitor Tab in Azure Website to see how much of CPU, DataIN and Data Out time is taken for a request to the site.
Recommend you to see this thread discussion on  Failed request tracing
for troubleshooting on Slow requests  and a video  on
Troubleshooting Slow Requests with Failed Request Tracing that might help troubleshoot the slowness of website.
