Probably a windows error, but i figured id ask here.   anyone seen this before?

Did Jabber install after this message? If not you can try below steps.
     1) Click Start, type 'services.msc' and press Enter.
     2) From the window, locate the Windows Firewall service, right-click and click Start.
     3) Uninstall Beta version.
     4) Launch 9.0.4 installer.
This is a know issue in Pre-FCS builds.

  • Jabber 9.7 gdiplus.dll is missing

    Hello,
We are running jabber 9.7 for windows and we have a small problem that is difficult to reproduce consistently. Some of our users, when they start up their computers, sometimes they receive a message "GDIPLUS.dll is missing" and the Jabber application fails to start. This does not happen every time they boot their computer, but it is annoying.
If they try afterwards to start Jabber manually, the application starts correctly. I'm thinking that the issue is related to the timing of application/system startup but not sure.
The PCs are running windows 7
Nothing is written in the Jabber log file, probably the error occurs too early
    Any clues?
    Thanks,
    John

Jabber for windows - periodically tries to re-install and fails. After install Jabber works for awhile but then when trying to open another program(Outlook, IE Explorer) it tries to re-install.  If I go to the directory where the install files are and do repair it works.  This seems like a conflict with another application.
I see this in the Windows application event log:

    Hi,
Do you have WebEx Productivity plugin installed on the  machine? I can reproduce this problem after exiting Jabber, creating a  One-click meeting from Outlook and restarting Jabber. Please provide  further information to help me open a defect.
    - What was the version of Jabber on this machine prior to 9.1.0?
    - What is the version of the WebEx productivity tool plugin (if it is installed)?
    - Is there a particular sequence that you can follow to reproduce it everytime?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Jabber is attempting to repair itself from a conflict with the WebEx productivity tools.  However, it is looking for the original install file (.msi), cannot find it and therefore the repair fails.  To work around this problem you need to:
1 - Download the same version of CiscoJabberSetup.msi that is installed.  You can check the version by finding CiscoJabber.exe in your Program Files directory, right click, Properties and on the Details tab there is a product version.
2 - Copy this file to the location fro which you previously installed Jabber.  For example, if you downloaded the .msi to your desktop previously, do the same here again.  If you got this update as part of an auto update, then copy the file to "%temp%".
3 - Launch Jabber - it should successfully repair itself and launch.
    Thanks,
    Rob.

  • Jabber 9.1.2 missing DLL's with Win8 64bit and WebEx Connect

I realize that Windows 8 is not yet listed as supported operating system for Cisco Jabber for Windows, but I would like to make it work anyway I am trying to use Cisco Jabber for Windows 9.1.2 on Windows 8 with WebEx Connect. I am able to log in and IM just fine, but when I attempt to launch an Instant WebEx Meeting the first time, I receive the error
"WebEx Meeting is unavailable. Unable to connect to WebEx meeting server. Please try again later."
However, for any subsequent attempt to launch an Instant WebEx Meeting, I receive three errors in this order:
    1) The program can't start because atWbxUI14.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
    2) The program can't start because ATKBCTL.DLL is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
    3) WebEx Meeting is unavailable. Unable to connect to WebEx meeting server. Please try again later.
In both cases (fresh install and subsequent attempts) I receive an email letting me know that my meeting is in progress. So, I know that it has connected to meeting center and set up the meeting. It just can't seem to launch the WebEx interface. I have no problems launching WebEx by any other method that I have tried (e.g., Productivity Tools, from a browser, or if I uninstall Jabber and install the WebEx Connect client).
    Has anyone seen this one?

I had actually tried that already, but just for kicks I did it again. Webex Connect was not installed. I uninstalled anything that had the word webex in it. I uninstalled Cisco Jabber. I went through C:\ProgramData and C:\Users\[username]\AppData\, and I deleted anything that had the words Webex or Jabber. I rebooted the computer, I installed Cisco Jabber. I rebooted the computer again before starting the application. Then I went into meetings and clicked "Instant WebEx Meeting." It gets to the point where it is installing the webex plugin. Once the WebEx plugin installion completes, I get the same error as before.
Since Windows 8 is not listed as a fully supported operating system for Cisco Jabber for Windows, I suppose this kind of thing is to be expected. I was just hoping that maybe someone had found a work around.

  • Jabber 9.2.3 Group Chat Will Not Start

We're having an issue where about half of our Jabber installs cannot start a group chat.  When you right-click and select "Start a group chat", you receive the message that you are about ready to start a chat with x number of people and to select continue.  Once you select continue, nothing further happens, whereas on the installations that function, the group chat window then launches.  Error message from logs below...

Searched online and only found a few solutions that talk about enabling multi user chat on Presence... which of course it alreay is since half our client workstations can start group chats successfully.  Tried uninstalling/reinstalling and removing the user/groups and readding with no success.
    Thoughts?

  • Jabber client mysteriously importing photos

Thanks for the forums, they've been a helpful resource setting up Jabber.
We deployed the Jabber for Windows client 9.1.2.12936 recently, and have gotten reports that photos are showing up for contacts that people never published in AD or Jabber.  One user reported that a picture was added next to two people's names in her Jabber list, despite that they were not in her contacts nor are they friends on any social media sites.  The photos that showed up are potentially from Facebook and were saved as:
    [email protected]_jabber_thumb.png
    [email protected]_jabber_profile.png
    [email protected]_jabber_phone.png
The Jabber log file on their PC shows a lot of entries similar to this one:
    013-03-07 14:55:37,484 DEBUG [0x00001844] [rs/directory/ContactAvatarCache.cpp(125)] [contactAvatarCacheLogger] [GetImage] - Local URI: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Photos\xxxx@domain_jabber_thumb.png
But no indiciation where the photo originally came from.
We use UDS for a Directory Server.  Can anyone suggest how we track down why this is happening?  Users are understandably alarmed.  Thank you.

The photos do not appear to be in the local Outlook contacts nor do I see any outbound connections to Facebook when I reproduce the problem.
Anytime I delete the photos they come back pretty quickly.  I've done packet captures and used Process Monitor to troubleshoot, and think ContactSearchPlugin.dll is responsible for this behavior but can't see exactly why yet because the connection to the Jabber server is encrypted.  No external requests are made but perhaps they were in the past and are cached somewhere other than the Jabber photos directory.
Only one user has reported this problem so far and her machine scans clean for malware and viruses.
PersonManagerForensics.txt has a lot of info but no smoking gun.  Is there any additional debugging I can turn on specific to contact retrieval?

  • Jabber - 9.2.2 outlook integration

Hi - we have  integrated the CUPS - 9.1.1 with CUCM 9.1.2 and all the End users are manually created not sync through LDAP.
But the User ID is same in both CUCM, CUPS which is in AD.
When ever user logged in to Jabber with the Domain they able to search user which is AD.
Now client want to get the status of each user in Outlook and they want to Initiate IM though outlook.
I checkd the DOC where it says CUCM need to integated thorough LDAP to get this done.
Is there any alternate way where I can acheve this, Also i checked few doc it  says i need to update
SIP:<cupuserid>@<presencedomain> in AD for each and every user is that only config i need to peform to achieve this or Is there anything more i need to follow.
    SIVANESAN R

Yes, you will need to have a SIP URI in the proxyAddress attribute. This is a Microsoft design that Jabber is integrating with, not Cisco-driven behavior. The Office suite and the SharePoint DLL query for the SIP URI and then feed this to a local API that Jabber registers to on the local PC. Office feeds the URI to that API, Jabber checks the contact list and if necessary does a temporary presence subscription to get the presense and contact information (e.g. phone numbers to call). This is fed back to Office through the API which then gets populated in the Persona Menu.
LDAP authentication is psuedo-required for other reasons, mainly the sanity of everyone involved by providing a single password. Not doing LDAP sync/auth is a great way to generate a ton of helpdesk tickets. There are some situations that make LDAP sync/auth flat-out mandatory but the Enhanced Directory Integration (EDI) of Jabber for Windows has alleviated this to some extent because Jabber can use the Windows ADSI to do queries instead of doing a native LDAP bind.
I would challenge you to think of reasons why you shouldn't do LDAP sync/auth; I would be surprised to hear of a legitmate one. This is esspecially true in CUCM 9.x where you can still have local users in addition to the LDAP-synced ones; it's no longer all-in or all-out.

Quick info, we run Lotus Notes 8.5.3, Jabber 9.0.4 and SharePoint 2010.
When we install Jabber 9.0.4 on a client, the presence doesn't display correctly on our SharePoint site. We can see the correct presence pulled from Jabber in Office (in the "author" field in the Info tab under File on any document) and if you hover over the presence icon that doesn't display correctly in SharePoint, the contact card DOES show the correct presence (weird!)
    [see "blank contact card.png"]
It is only when we install the full Outlook 2010 client that it displays the presence properly:
    [see "with outlook.png"]
This doesn't make sense... What does Outlook install that is "special" in order for this presence bubble to work, whilst every thing else works regardless? It's nothing to do with adding a SIP entry or the name.dll is missing. It calls the NAMECONTROLSERVER.EXE process everytime, but it depends whether Outlook is there in order to pull back the presence status.
It must be said though that this is an improvement over CUPC 8 which didn't work at all! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

"Your Cisco Guest Login is not entitled to use Bug Toolkit." ...apparently.
Since it's a known issue (I'm presuming since I can't see this) is there an impending fix in a future release?

  • Entry Point Not Found "pluginutils.dll"

Upgraded to Jabber 10.5 and now users are getting "ciscojabber.exe - entry point not found"  can not be located in the dynamic link library PluginUtils.dll.

In our case, problem was in previous version of Cisco Jabber. Jabber 9.6.1 was not uninstalled correctly. Old Jabber client was successfully removed and problem is gone.

  • Can I get Cisco Jabber 10.6.0 to work on Windows XP Pro SP3?

We are implementing the new Cisco Jabber 10.6.0, per a requirement, but we still have some Windows XP Pro SP3 users. The issue is that with this new client the app will not load due to error:  CiscoJabber.exe Entry Point Not Found: the procedure entry point inet_ntop could not be located in the dynamic link library ws2_32.dll.
I understand Windows XP is "not supported", but since we are forced to upgrade to this version I was hoping for a work around for our Windows XP users until they can upgrade to Windows 7.
    Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks for your time.

Thank you for the suggestion. Here is what I did:
    Uninstalled 10.6
Removed all folders and file traces of the install
Tried to install 9.6 - got hung up during install so had to reboot
Tried right-click on exe / uninstall and got message it was only used if installed, so it never really installed even thou I had a broken link to jabber on the desktop
Tried install again. Second attempt was same thing. It gets hung on the windows installer - preparing to install... had to reboot again
Right-click exe / repair and got message it was only used if installed
Removed all folders and file traces of the install
    Redownloaded the exe
Same issue, will not install. Hang right after registering product completes.
So i'll be looking into why this is not installing now. :)

  • Jabber Options - Phone Accounts - Voicemail -- "Spinning Wheel"

Been trying to resolve a nagging issue.   We currently have CUCM 8.6.2-20000-2, CUPS 8.6.4-10000-28 and just put up Unity Conn 9.1.  Jabber Win clients are 9.2(1).   Several people have not been able to integrate voicemail into the Jabber client.
We are totally MS AD integrated.   In CUPS, I had Applications -> Cisco Jabber -> Settiings  Credentials Used For Voicemail service set to CUPS so the user would not need to supply credentials.  To help me debug, I went and changed this setting to "Not Set" so that the Phone Accounts option appears in Jabber 4 Win client.
So far all the people who do not work access the Phone Accounts setting in the Jabber client see the "Spinning Wheel".   They can't see the fields to enter their AD creds and the voicemail server.   Reinstall of the client does not seem to help.  There seemed to be a bug that described this but I think it was fixed in 9.1(2).  You can't display the Bug description because it contains proprietary info.
I have attached a screen shot of my Jabber Client Phone Account -- when I enter the credentials, I log in fine.
Anyone seen this or know how to fix?
    TIA --- Perry

Well, I had TAC look at this issue. Short story is that it was an issue with one of the *many* local cache files which hid the real source of the problem.  I actually had the Mailstore misconfgured in CUPS.  I used the Exchange server's CAS IP instead of Unity Connection.   We created new Mailstore definition that used the Unity Conn IP's, created a new Voicemail Profile and associated the user to that profile.   She worked....
I deleted my all my Jabber for Windows local cache files and I then received the "spining wheel" issue.  I moved my ID to the new Voicemail Profile with correct Mailstore and I could connect fine.   TAC spent an hour pouring through files on my PC and could not find the reason why my ID was working.   TAC indicates that in 9.x, a lot of this configuration moves to CUCM and hopefully cuts down on these issues!  PRT files from the Jabber client really did not assist them in locating the problem.
    Hope this helps....

  • Running workbook from .bat fails to start application missing CORE40 dll

I have been running several workbook via windows task scheduler / vbscript &/or bat files.
I now have a new box which I access thru Remote Desktop Connection, so I can run all these automated updates without having my screen blinking everytime a shedule workbook starts.
If I click on the actual Discoverer icon, or the discoverer workbook shortuct, all works well.
If I click on the .bat file, or try to run the workbook via the cmd , it gives me the following error:
DIS4USR.EXE – Unable To Locate Component
“this application has failed to start because CORE40.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”
The dll is under c/orant/bin/core40.dll, which is where I've read it should be, and it works fine in my regular box...
    Please help! URGENT :)
    Thanks!

    Hello
Check the PATH environment variables for the machine you are on and the one you are connecting to.
You might not have Discoverer's objects in the PATH.
Another possibility is that you have more than one piece of ORACLE software on the machine and you may need to also set the ORACLE_HOME within the BAT file.
    Best wishes
    Michael

  • Setting up Chat Room with Jabber

I am trying to create a chat room for multiple users all using a Jabber (gmail) account within ichat.  Is there a special naming protocol to creating a chat room or do you need to create an address somewhere before joining this chat room?
I have no problem doing it with my .me account but for work everyone is on gmail so we ideally be able to use the Jabber accounts for group chats.
I did mange to "create" one called [email protected] (our domain) but when I tried to join I get the grey spinning wheel and don't get any further.
Clearly I'm missing something so any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Sarah

    Hi,
GoogleTalk is supposed to allow group chats.
These tend to be called "Conferences" on most Jabber servers.
Most Jabber servers have a section of additional itme your can "register" for and Login to.
However to do this takes a third party app like Psi.
This can then do "Service Discovery" on the server in question and show what features you can sign up for.
These can include "Transports" that allow you to add Buddies from different services and Conference calls.
Having said that if you do Service Discovery on GoogleTalk you find nothing
Many apps also presume the server name is the last part of your user ID and for Google with it's @gmail.com and @googlemail.com this does not work properly in some of these apps.
This page has Instructions for how to set up a Transport to MSN using Psi and you can see the Service Discovery panel.
Essentially a room has to be given a Name and this is coupled with the Jabber server name it is on so that it looks something like this:-
    [email protected]
The room "ralph" is on the conference server at the jabber.org.uk server.
Substituting [email protected] does not seem to work as a room name.
It may pay to start from a  Web Browser login and see if a room name becomes apparent that way.
    Edit
The last two "links" I have tried to remove the Links but they keep get added back

  • Intergrating Unity Voice-mail with Jabber

We are currently looking at using Jabber and have installed Jabber V 9.2.4
We are running Unity voicemail 7.1.3.
I think we have Unity all set up to use voicemail and we can indeed forward our phone using the computer to our voicemail but we are not seeing anything in Jabber to allow us to access VM from the Jabber client.
I have gone through checks and the following IS set up:
Class of Service in Unity is set to allow users to access VM using IMAP
Unity Voicemail Server is set up
    Mailstore is set up
    Voicemail Profile is set up
    CCMCIP Profile is set up
CUP is set in the credential source for VM. We have also removed CUP and used "Not Set".
We are now getting the Voicemail icon and the Phone Accounts option in the Options menu but we still can't get connected.
    Any pearls of wisdom?
