Java Applet re-creation problem

Hi skilled,
At our project we use an Applet that resides in the iFrame. On the main page the iFrame is used to show an Applet.
There is a table with two cells, there is DIV in every cell with IDs �div1� and �div2� accordingly. The iFrame is in the "div1".
When we move an iFrame from �div1� to �div2� using the JavaScript code below:
div2.appendChild(
document.getElementById('myframe')
where �myframe� is the iFrame ID, the Applet destroys and new one is being created. This leads to the loss of data that was stored in the applet before.
We need to avoid such a behavior of the Applet somehow or find a workaround to this problem.
This problem reproduces on SUN JVM 1.5.0.11 and 1.6.0.x.
Please share your ideas/suggestions with me � you will help us a lot.

I can save the data from the old applet when it is going to destroy, however I cannot pass it to the new one.
Here is the problem:
- until the <iframe/> is moved, my browser has a right reference to the applet - I can use any public methods of an applet;
- then, I move an <iframe/> tag to another cell/div, JVM destroys my applet and creates a new one, however the browser have lost the reference (or it holds the reference to the old applet which is destroyed) - so, I cannot call any applet method from JavaScript anymore.
And one more thing, when applet is being recreated in this way, it is no longer re-draws itselft. Update and Paint methods are no longer called inside an applet even if to call them by hand (repaint function).
Btw, this is not reproduces on MS JVM :) That's strange problem...
Any help will be really appreciated.

Well I used HtmlConver utility to generate applet html code, so I assume nothing is wrong with Object tag. Do you know what could cause this problem on Internet explorer? To be honest, I spent last couple of days, but I am just lost. It absolutely works fine on Netscape.

Java Applet call javascript problem

Hi I have a web page as follow and embedded a applet. The applet call the java script, and instead of showing an alarm, the browser show the javascript code. Is that strange ? Any suggestion for this problem.

On first look:
I am not sure about the Object Tag, but the Applet Tag requires the MAYSCRIPT attribute before Java can call Javascript.

Problem running Java applets since Java update 2 (1.6.0_20)

Hi,
Since I upgraded to Java update 2, Java applets started having problems. The most noticeable ones are:
Non-modal windows appear behing the browser Window (tested Safari 4, 5, Chrome 5).
Double buffering not working as usual (slower, white boxes appear when dragging a window, etc.)
Slower rendering in general
The same applications run perfectly using Java Web Start. And they used to work very well also in Java update 1.

Our applications running in applets use the new plug-in 2 with JNLP files.

Since the last Java update on mac, all my OpenGL applets stop working and now just shows a white screen on Chrome, Firefox and Opera. They was working well on all browsers (Safari/WebKit,Chrome,Firefox,Opera) just before the update.
The trouble maker seem to be the java plugin 2 and the new offscreen rendering pipeline, as reported by jrhaddad with the disucssion linked to the different Java/OpenGL community forums.
This is a huge regression for me, and I think for all hobbies/ independent developers and all companies who are doing some Java/OpenGL develoment. All our work just stop working since this update.
If would really want to know from Apple if they are working on this problem and/or how this can be solved.
Should this be fixed by Apple with a new java update, or should the various browsers must upgrade their applet support plugins according to the new java plugin 2 changes ?

How to display a .exe file in java applets by avoiding the file downloadbox

I know that in order to display a any file(or)program in java applets you need to use showDocument().Where you cannot use exec() in java applets.
My problem is that when i use showDocument() to display .exe file.It is showing a file download dialog box.If we click & open only it is opening that .exe file.Here i want to open the .exe file without showing that file download dialog box in java applets.
Since,i am undergoing a project which involves it,it is quite urgent.pls.do provide the exact code in java applet without showing that file download dialog box.If it can't be done pls. do provide any other possibilities in order to be displayed on the browser.Thank U.

I think you it's better to write a server socket program
in server and open a socket connection to server socket then
send exe file content via connection.
(I guess you know applets only have permission to open socket connection to their code base)

Problem Launching Java Applet with Plug-in: Version 1.4.2_01

Hello out there:
I recently installed j2re-1.4.2_01 on my home computer but have been unable to access Web sites emmploying JAva applets. The following is an email exchange with Jeff Hall of Lowell Observatory, manager of an educational site hosted by Lowell, trying to resolve my problem. The messages are better understood if read in reverse order.
I'm hoping that someone will recognize the source of my problem and can recommmend a solution. I would appreciate any help offered.

Well, I guess the problem lies with me somewhere. Here's my answer/status to your questions/suggestions:
1) I'm using MS Windows Me version 4.90.3000
2) I do have the directory C:\Windows\.jpi_cache\jar\, but the only thing in it is an empty folder labeled "1.0". The file LP.jar does not exist anywhere on my hard drive.
3) I tried several game sites that utilized Java applets and got the same results: the Java cup in the upper left corner followed a few seconds later by the red "X". So, evidently the problem is somewhere on my end.
I'm going to post our email exchanges in a Java Users Forum managed by Sun to see if anyone out there can solve my problem. However, if you have any more suggestions, I'll be glad to try them.

Rats! What version of Windows are you using? It's a little strange to
see the user directory set to C:\Windows; if you're using XP, I'd expect

I still have the Java "blues". I followed your instructions, but am still unable to launch a LOPARC session. After an initial failure, I uninstalled all three Java versions I had (1.4.0, 1.4.1, 1.4.2), then reinstalled 1.4.2_01 from the Sun website.
Now, when I try to launch LOPARC, I initially get a blank window with the Java cup in the upper left corner. After about 20 seconds, the cup changes to a red "X". During those 20 seconds, the following appear in the IE message bar at the bottom of the window: "Applet LPRemote notinited" (their spelling) which changes to "Loading Java Applet Failed..." when the red "X" appears.

Try it now. I think this problem has arisen because Sun just
released a new version of the Plug-in (1.4.2), and when we released the
public beta of LOPARC, only one relevant version (1.4.0) was available
and the LOPARC code was written to look for that by default. I have
just recoded the relevant routines so they should now cause your browser
to simply pick up the latest 1.4 version of the Plug-in you have
installed, whatever it is. I "broke" Java on my machine to replicate
your problem, and the code I inserted today did fix it. Hopefully it
will have the same effect for you. I am running IE 6 and plugin
1.4.2_01 (as accessed via Tools->Sun Java Console).
One broader problem: some (non-LOPARC-specific) users on the Sun
forums have reported the "JRE collision" you are seeing when multiple
versions of the Plug-in are installed on the same machine. So if the
fix I made to our code doesn't work, one option would be to uninstall
all Java components from your computer and do a fresh install of the
latest runtime environment.

I just helped my Dad set up his computer with a new
cable modem, and had the situation where we couldn't
access any secure Web sites. The cable folks had us
disable the proxy. It looks like the error message is
saying it can't find your proxy server, and the logs
you posted say that you've decided to configure your
proxy manually, rather than using the settings from
IE (which is how mine is set up in the plugin
control panel.)
Could that be the problem?

Problem with java applet and array of arrays

hi!
i'm passing an array of arrays from java applet using
JSObject.getWindow(applet).call("jsFunction", array(array(), array()) );
in every other browser than safari 4.0.2 it's no problem to iterate over this array. in safari "array.length" is undefined. is such construction supported in safari's js engine?

Thanks for the answer but the problem is the type of object of method and how from pl/sql is posiblle to call.
The method waiting a ArrayofAlicIva, but if i define this object is not posible to set the object inside the array because the wsdl not have this functions.
I need to define array of objects but the object is inside is the diferent type of array.
If i Define the array of object correct to object inside, the method expect that the other array type.
Is a Deadlock ??

Printing problem on java applet

Hi, I'm Korean and MacBook air user.
I'm very not good at English, please excuse me .
I use OS X 10.8.3 and jdk 7.
I make a simple java applet program includes printing functionary.
But, only browsers (Safari and FireFox) on Mac OS X not printing font correctly.
I use setFont() function and then drawString() function.

Points/questions.
It is a lot easier to debug these things if we can see the applet. Is it on the net? Can you give us the URL?
Have you considered launching this applet using web start? (If it turns out to be related to security, the web
start JNLP API has a neat way to sidestep that problem.)

My web page uses a Java Applet to allow my visitors to replay chess games; the Chess Viewer Deluxe applet was written by Nikolai Pilafov some time ago and has been working properly for some time (until recently). I don't monitor this part of my site regularly so I am not sure when it began to fail. On his web site [http://chesstuff.blogspot.com/2008/11/chess-viewer-deluxe.html] he has a link to check LiveConnect object functionality (which fails for OBJECT tags). His recommendation is to "seek platform specific support which might be available from the JRE developers for your platform".
I have been getting java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ZeroApplet.class and java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JavaToJS.class crashes with JRE version 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425 VM executing a Java Applet. Until I checked the LiveConnect object functionality, I was unable to identify the source of the console error messages. This does seem to be the smoking gun.
Is Apple aware of this problem? Are these classes no longer supported? Has anyone else had this problem? You can attempt to recreate the problem locally by going to my web page: http://donsmallidge.com/DonSmallidgeChess.html

I just went up to check the LiveConnect object functionality page AND IT WORKED THIS TIME! I must confess, this is very mysterious. I will do some more checking and reply here if I can determine why it is working now (and more importantly, why it didn't work before).

When using Java Wizard with Firefox 3.6.23 on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 it keep getting an error message: "The Java Wizard cannot run. Please configure your browser to allow Java applets to access the filesystem." Have NO idea how to fix this problem.

When trying to upload files I received the following error: "The Java Wizard cannot run. Please configure your browser to allow Java applets to access the filesystem."

If the problem is with a site that is hosted using MOVEit DMZ by Ipswitch, please notify the site owner of the issue and ask them to apply the patch that is available on the support site to resolve the issue.
This is a better resolution than downgrading your version of Java that was updated due to security issues.

Java Applet Panel problems with CardLayout

Hi, I have a problem a I have been stucked for 2 days.
I created 3 Panels to use with CardLayout. I would switch between those 3 panels depending on user interaction. I have some textfields and text areas on the 2nd and 3rd Panel. On the 1st panel, I would like to use g.drawstring to write some stuff on that panel, but the words would be blocked off if it goes to where the components are on the other panels.

SSL Load Balancing (Java applets problem)

Hi,
I have implemented loadbalancing of two webservers using CSS 11503.
Servers are containing SSL pages which need to be loadbalanced.
I have tried configuring the content rule for ssl using
port 443
application ssl
advanced-balance ssl
commands.The site opens properly using the VIP address (checked the SSL certificate issued by one of the servers. ) and I am able to see all the TABS on the same.The real problem starts when I am trying to upload a file to the server using the VIP address.
The moment I try to upload a file the session shifts to the second server and prompts for new certificate issued by the second server.
One more thing which I would like to mention here is that while uploading the file, JAVA is used.
i.e.the files are being uploaded using JAVA applets.
If anybody has encountered this kind of problem kindly suggest on the same.

HI Pankaj,
depending on your Java applett it might be possible that the applett opens a new connection. therefore depending on your total configuration it might be possible taht another server is used.Even worse if you do SSL-offloading the applett might tell the user to do http instead of https. I suggest that you check with a sniffertrace what is happening:
1) is there a new connection setup while the applett runs
2) is it again http or https and if https is it a new https session which will be again balanced not depending on the original https session.

i think it should be the java security problem and i have try to get the solution from internet. i try to solve by using the fllowing method:
keytool -genkey -keyalg rsa -alias yourkey
keytool -export -alias yourkey -file yourcert.crt
javac yourapplet.java
jar cvf yourapplet.jar yourapplet.class
jarsigner yourapplet.jar yourkey
but the command prompt ask me to enter the keystore password. i try to enter any password. but i show me the error:
keytool error: java.io.IOException: Keystore was tampered with, or password was incorrect.
