Java Objects for Oracle datatypeJava Objects for Oracle user-defined datatype

I'm trying to create a Java object that maps to VARRAY of numbers.
I created a type "NUMARRAY" which is a varray of numbers.
I also created a type "NUMCOLLECTION" which is an object and contains "NUMARRAY"
The plan was to create the java object to map to numcollection. My question is can I map a java type directly to the NUMARRAY type, or must it map to an object? (here I'm referring to 'CREATE TYPE NUMARRAY AS VARRAY" or "CREATE TYPE NUMCOLLECTION AS OBJECT" in sql.
Also, if I do need to write java objects for both types? And if I do, do both need to implement SQLData?

  • Can java use the Oracle user defined datatypes

Following the code snippets from the sample applications from the Oracle 9i manual,i have coded two classes:
    java.util.Map map = (Map) conn.getTypeMap();
    map.put("camr_owner.proc_test_type",Class.forName("testType"));
    conn.setTypeMap(map);
These three lines cause the program to choke.
    The exception thrown is :
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.AbstractMethodError: getTypeMap.
In one of the classes,i have a class that is exactly same as the Oracle UDT implementing the SQLData interface.
In the other,i mean the class where i have coded the above mentioned three lines,i have a main class which tries to make a connection to the database.I am using the java thin drivers(classes12.zip in the classpath).
Can anyone, point me what is the mistake in the lines.

    Hello "TPD"
The fact that I'm posting this on a Java newbies forum indicates that I have NOT a smarter approach (don't even have one). I just asked this question about using Java to integrate with OpenScript because I didn't find much information online and the Oracle Support Community Forums have proven to be very helpful for me in the past, that's all.
It doesn't seem from your reply you were intending to help but more to discourage me and other to use the Oracle Support Community forums.

  • Issue in passing Oracle User Defined Types to PL SQL from Websphere Applica

    HI,
I am facing an issue when trying to pass Oracle collection object(User Defined Types) from Java to PL SQL. The issue happens inside J2EE application which is running inside Websphere Application Server 6.x. My database is Oracle 10g and i am using ojdbc1.4.jar as thin driver.
The issue is that when i pass the Oracle Object from java side, the attribute values of the collection objects at the Oracle PL SQL side is coming as empty. I have tried the same java code in a standalone application and it works fine. The issue happens only when the application is running inside WAS.
Anybody has any idea how to pass Oracle User Defined Types from WAS 6.x server to Oracle PL SQL?

    Andy Bowes wrote:
    Hi
I am using WebLogic 8.14 & Oracle 9i with thin JDBC driver.
Our application needs to perform the same DB operation for every item in a Java Collection. I cannot acheive the required performance using the standard Prepare & Execute loop and so I am looking to push the whole collection to Oracle in a single invocation of a Stored Procedure and then loop on the database.
    Summary of Approach:
In the Oracle database, we have defined a Object Type :
    CREATE OR REPLACE
    TYPE MYTYPE AS OBJECT
    TxnId VARCHAR2(40),
    Target VARCHAR2(20),
    Source VARCHAR2(20),
    Param1 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param2 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param3 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param4 VARCHAR2(2048),
    Param5 VARCHAR2(2048),
and we have defined a collection of these as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE
TYPE MYTYPE_COLLECTION AS VARRAY (100) OF MYTYPE
There is a stored procedure which takes one of these collections as an input parameter and I need to invoke these from within my code.
I am having major problems when I attempt to get the ArrayDescriptor etc to allow me to create an Array to pass to the stored procedure. I think this is because the underlying Oracle connection is wrapped by WebLogic.
Has anyone managed to pass an array to an Oracle Stored procedure on a pooled DB connection?
    Thanks
AndyHi. Here's what I suggest: First please get the JDBC you want to work in a
small standalone program that uses the Oracle thin driver directly. Once
that works, show me the JDBC code, and I will see what translation if
any is needed to make it work with WLS. Will your code be running in
WebLogic, or in an external client talking to WebLogic?
Also, have you tried the executeBatch() methods to see if you can
get the performance you want via batches?

  • Some DB objects like User-defined datatypes being missed out?

    Dear all.
I create an Oracle model for a captured SQL Server model and then right click -> click on 'Generate' to create the DB creation script.
    (1) But few objects like user-defined datatypes are missed out in the script.
    (2) Also, a simple stored proc as defined below missed out:
    CREATE PROCEDURE [SalesLT].[SayHi]
    AS
SELECT 'Hi I am a job scheduler'
    GO
    Rgds, Abhi

    Hello,
An OracleDI Dataserver connection to an RDBMS is, most of the time, defined with a single set of parameters: a user account name, a password and a URL.
OracleDI may need to access numerous tables on the RDBMS which may not all be stored in the same database schema, catalog, library, ...and for which access privileges may not be identical.
For this reason, it is necessary to ensure that the RDBMS user account has sufficient access privileges for these schema, catalog, librairies ...
The user account should have at least read/right access permission for any OracleDI Physical Schema referenced for the concerned Dataserver (depending on the project within which it is used, a Physical Schema may store both source and/or target tables).
Moreover, for project requirements, it may be necessary to use/create/drop certain RDBMS
components such as stored procedures, views, temporary tables, system tables ...
For this reason, make sure the user account referenced in the dataserver connection parameters is attributed sufficient privileges to any object it may manipulate with OracleDI.
2nd point: you can use any logical name for the data server Name.

  • Help needed for User-Defined Datatype

    Hi All,
I have one table which has User-defined Column Datatype.
Now Client wants us to rename the User-Defined Datatype for some Standardization process.
How to do rename of it, coz Rename old to new doesnt work in Oracle 10.2.0.4G for TYPES.
So we re-created it with the new names. Now our Problem is how do i re-assign the column datatype with the New User-Defined DataType.
    Regards,
    Prathamesh

The Only Solution that i could found was - Create a new column with new User-Defined Datatype, copy the old column values to New Column, then drop the old column and rename the new Column to Old Column
    ORA-22859:     invalid modification of columns
Cause:     An attempt was made to modify an object, REF, VARRAY, nested table, or LOB column type.
Action:     Create a new column of the desired type and copy the current column data to the new type using the appropriate type constructor.

  • 10g - cache, report contains oracle user defined function

    hi, experts,
    from http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2008/07/obiee-cache-management.html
Reasons Why a Query is Not Added to the Cache:
•Non-cacheable SQL element. If a SQL request contains Current_Timestamp, Current_Time, Rand, Populate, or a parameter marker then it is not added to the cache.
•Non-cacheable table. Physical tables in the Oracle BI Server repository can be marked 'noncacheable'. If a query references any non-cacheable table then the query results will not be added to the cache.
•Cache hit. In general, if the query gets a cache hit on a previously cached query, then the results of the current query are not added to the cache. The exception is query hits that are aggregate roll-up hits.
    •Result set is too big.
Query is cancelled. This can happen by explicit cancellation from Oracle BI Presentation Services or the Administration Tool, or implicitly through timeout.
•Oracle BI Server is clustered. Queries that fall into the ‘cache seeding’ family are propagated throughout the cluster. Other queries continue to be stored locally. Therefore, even though a query may be put into the cache on Oracle BI Server node 1, it may not be on Oracle BI Server node 2.
    I would like to know
if the request (report on dashboard) calls an oracle user defined function,  can the cache be created and saved for this report?
    thank you very much!

    Hi stephen,
if the request (report on dashboard) calls an oracle user defined function, can the cache be created and saved for this report?Yes,it is cached.....function defined in database is called in OBIEE is cached and saved.

  • Generate Java class from Oracle Type defined in Package w/ JPublisher

I was wondering if its possible to generate a Java class for an Oracle Type defined in a Package? I know passing the package name to JPublisher (SQL <package_name>) causes all Oracle Types in the Package to have a Java class generated for them but I'd like to be able to do this for an individual Type defined in a Package (something like SQL <package_name>.<type_name>).
Thanks for any information you can give me.

    Hi Marinel,
The support for XSD import is limited on 10.1.2. If you can, you should consider moving to the 10.1.3 preview as the support for document style web services has improved. The other option will be to inline the schema in your WSDL.

  • Dynamic webservice client for User-defined datatypes

    Hi All,
I have a webservices with user-defined datat types. I want to write a dynamic client that will work even if there are any changes in the wsdl, so that I do not want to recompile the client or make any changes on the client side.
I tried using DII but we need to modify the custome objects and recompile the same. Suggest me any alternative.
    Regards,
    Sanjay

Rob, unfortunately not. If I ever come across the solution, I will post it here.
The reason I wanted to use weblogic webservices was to take advantage of the asynchronous webservice functionality. I ended up using xfire instead for my webservices, as we already had that in place in the application, and then using polling clients to get the response. Not an ideal solution, but it works very good anyway.

  • Unifier Table name used for storing User-Defined Reports Information

    Hello Everyone,
I am looking for the table name that stores all the User-Defined Reports information pertaining to report creation details. I want to create a dataview that will provides all the user-defined reports the system presently had on file.
Does anyone know about the system auto-created table name for User Defined Reports. It might start with "sys_"
    Thanks

For custom reports, you can find them through data views - "sys_custom_report". I am wondering why UDR tables were not included.
The only effort left is manually copy pasting each name and information from Unifier on an Excel sheet. It will take a lot of time though. I will also log a SR meanwhile.
    Thanks everyone for your help.
