Java Won't run on AOL browser

AOL has told me that they pull from the internet explorer, however I am unable to run the Java Runtime on AOL, therefore I have to use the internent explorer, which I do not like. I am unable to play games on AOL, it's not letting the Applets load. Does anyone know what is going on. I have reinstalled AOL, made sure my security settings are correct. An AOL does not have an answer either.

After you download the jre file click on it to install it. I'm not sure why AOL isn't registering and the internet explorer is.
Try putting this into your autoexec.bat file (if your running on windows operating system).
set classpath=C:\ProgramFiles\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\bin;%PATH%
Make sure the file path is correct. It's the path to the java.exe file. This ensures programs that use java.exe file to find it.
You have to restart your computer after changing the autoexec file for it to register.
Good Luck!

  • Java won't run

I think I may have got a virus on my computer.  My java won't run at all.  When I put on the Flashback Checker it said it was clear but I still can't run java or update it.  I'm on an OSX so the new updates won't go either.  I'd really like to run java programs

It came with 10.5.8 and is updated using Software Update.
All you need to do is make certain it's enabled in both Java Preferences (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and in your browser preferences.

  • Java won't run after latest update

I just installed the latest update for Mountain Lion and now my java won't run.  I have tried all of the hints from Java's site and am stumped.
    Any ideas?

This explains why. You need to download the latest Java from Oracle's site.

  • Java FX apps won't run on the browser with Linux

This is my current system configuration:
    Opensuse 12.3 x64
Nvidia Gefore 9600gt with Proprietary drivers
Tried both the Oracle Java 7u45 and 7u51 (Installed according to: SDB:Installing Java - openSUSE)
Google Chrome and Firefox (Latest versions for both)
I am not able to run any Java FX browser app. When the app starts loading, i just get a gray box inside the browser screen. I've reproduced this with the JavaFX Ensemble sample app as well as my own apps. This is the exception i get on the Java Console when trying to load the Ensemble app:

  • How do I roll-back to the previous version of Firefox? An auto update occurred and now one of the programs used at the office (ACT! v6.0 SwiftMail) won't run with the browser.

The office I work in uses a very old version of ACT!, an accounting package. This package has a component called SwiftPage, an antiquated email system that enables us to email from the ACT DB. SwiftPage runs via the web browser.
Firefox just did an auto update (that I will have to find out how to turn off) and now SwiftPage won't run as it is not compatible.
Can I "roll-back" my version of Firefox or do I have to uninstall and try to re-install an older version?
    HELP!

Try loading and using the add-on from this link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Many add-ons do in fact work if you force them to run. The procedure to roll-back is given in this article: [[installing previous versions of firefox]]
Unfortunately the official Firefox policy is that you downgrade to 3.6 which is supported for a while longer, and not the now unsupported Firefox 4. If after installing and running the ''add-on compatibility reporter'' you still have problems there are ways around the official policy.
I think it is absurd that Firefox 4 may be used by tens of millions of users one day and a few days later those that upgrade to Firefox 5 should be not only told not to use a now unsupported browser, if they need to revert due to problems, but are actually obstructed in attempts to do so. • Java won't run in Safari, FF, or any other browser

I need to use a lot of Java pages for work. They used to function fine with Safari and Firefox, but now, neither browser can access any page with Java content on it. Firefox gives me a dreaded "red X" with the error message that "Java Applet notloaded" and Safari actually hangs on the page that leads to the page with Java.
    Any suggestions? I'm desperate!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
The cache files for Java may need to be cleared.
Go to your Applications/Utilities/Java and select Java 1.4.2 Plugin Settings.app Double click. Select Cache panel. Then "empty cache".
Also, in the same Java folder double click on J2SE 5.0>Java Preferences.app
The panel ought to look like this:
If it doesn't make corrections as needed. Note the position of J2SE 5.0 and Java 1.4.2. If they are reversed, drag one to the correct position.
Restart the system. See if that helps.
Post back and let me know if that brought Java back on line.

  • Quiz projects won't run in a browser

I'm running Captivate 7, and I can save my non-quiz items and view them in a browser without issue.
But my quiz is a separate project. I can preview it, take it and post the results when I preview it in a web browser, but when I preview as HTML in a we browser, it won't post and says undefined for Adobe user and PW.
The core problem is that I'm completely unable to view quizzes when published as anything other than and exe file. I've updated to the latest flash, but when I click on the browser icon to launch the quiz in a browser, I get nothing at all.

It's a JApplet, it needs the java plug in....
If you've already got the plugin installed you'll just need to change the tag you're using to load the applet... it'll either be an embed tag or an object tag.. (embed for Netscape, Object for IE)...

  • Java won't be activated in Browser

    Hi, there!
After ugrading to Mavericks, I can't activate Java in Java's Control Panel and Safari no longer has the option to activate java in it's Preferences.
Any idea? Did Apple banned Java for good? Do I need to use another browser? (Chrome doesn't work for what I need).
I still need to use Java. I hope I won't need to use Windows for that.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Maha-M,
If you are having issues activating Java in Mavericks, you may want to try installing the following recent Java release:

  • Java won't run on my OSX 10.7.5 can anyone help?

I have done EVERYTHING to get the latest version of Java to run. Java is "running" when I check it in system preferences, I have it enabled in my browser but when I return to Java, it doesn't detect it. I have restarted my computer and still nothing. Help???

Run through the steps listed in HT5559: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5559
This is take you back to Java SE 6 that Apple developed and has helped me with many of todays Java issues. It is not going to mess anything up and you can always try to re-install the latest version again if you want to try a newer version, but this should get you going on whatever you are trying to do for now.

  • Java Applets not running in Any browser

    Hi,
I have JRE / JSE (1.6.17) installed on a windows 7, 32 bit Intel Machine.
I am able to do all the programming and stuff (in Java), but when i try to open a web page with a Java Applet, it just does not show.
The page gives a message saying that an additional plugin is required.
I tried, Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer...all have the same problem.
The environment variables are correctly set.
This is something completely new for me, so would appreciate some help

Actually i think its more related to JRE.
I was actually referring to general applet loading.
I cannot open any applet in any browser.

  • Java won't run / can't find file

i'm new to using java so any help is usefull
the files are in the same directory, they are all named correctly. do i have to compile the java class file first or can i just point to it using a html as i am doing?
    this is the error message:
    load: class Scribble.class not found.
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\JAVA\Scribble\class.class (The system cannot find the path specified)
i see the CLASS.CLASS at the end but thats not the path the file is located in. its making its own path

You're probably giving a class file name where a class name is expected.
So if you say "Scribble.class" (a file name) in a place where a class name is needed, then the JVM will look for the class file, which (given that class name) would be "class.class" in a package named "Scribble".
Try removing the ".class" and try again.

  • Java runtime environement won't run

I have a Lenovo T430 Thinkpad.  I have Java (7u67) installed.  The applet will run through the browser (firefox), but JRE won't run through the command line.  I have a program that uses Java, but that program won't run because JRE won't run.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.  I'm running Windows 7 enterprise.  Any help would be appreciated.

    ic, thanks for the clarification.
In my classpath, I didn't include the path to java's core classes/packages (java.awt, javax.swing, etc.), how would it know?
The above questions arise when I get an error running the jar executable. In this jar files, I included all the classes (but not the nttp and the core java packages). It complains that nttp is not found. I guess it knows where the core java classes but beside those, I need to include any other packages/classes within the jar file itself?

  • When using Java Wizard with Firefox 3.6.23 on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 it keep getting an error message: "The Java Wizard cannot run. Please configure your browser to allow Java applets to access the filesystem." Have NO idea how to fix this problem.

When trying to upload files I received the following error: "The Java Wizard cannot run. Please configure your browser to allow Java applets to access the filesystem."

If the problem is with a site that is hosted using MOVEit DMZ by Ipswitch, please notify the site owner of the issue and ask them to apply the patch that is available on the support site to resolve the issue.
This is a better resolution than downgrading your version of Java that was updated due to security issues.
