JDev sharing Eclipse 3.3 projects.

Hi;
I am currently using Eclipse 3.3 with ejb 3 development.
I would like to use JDev as my second IDE (for now) and use it to work on the same projects I am working on in Eclipse. The question is; Is it simple and safe to use JDev on the same live Eclipse 3.3 projects? I will likely have JDev and Eclipse loaded at the same time. I intend to use JDev for UML reverse and forward ejb 3 engineering, while doing my editing/debugging/appserver in Eclipse.
Thank you much.
-nat

Shouldn't be a problem - JDev and Eclipse each has their own project file describing the project and they can share the same source directory.
You can use New->Project->Project from WAR file or Project from existing source in JDeveloper to help you set it to work with your existing source.
Fine tune it with the project properties->Content and sub nodes there and with the libraries/class path under project properties.

  • Import org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.Project ?

    Hello,
I have a legacy mapping file that is a Java file and its class extends org.eclipse.persistence.sessions.Project.
This file maintains the toplink mapping and is the only toplink configuration of the project. During its inception, the webgain workbench was used to create the file. Later, it was totally hand maintained.
Now, we would like to bring this to be managed in the JDeveloper Toplink workbench.
Could you please tell if this is possible.
    Thanks,
    Raj

  • Call DBAdapter created in JDEV from Eclipse?

    Hi
I tried to call dbadapter created in jdev from Eclipse. It gives me the following error:
Server returned HTTP response code: 502 for URL: http://localhost:9700/orabpel/xmllib/ws-addressing.xsd
    Any say?
A schema is automatically created and I think it refers to failure to read that schema.
    How to resolve this issue?

  • How to convert eclipse plug-in project to java project

I have one eclipse plug-in project which is Java and can be plug into IBM lotus Notes application. This Java eclipse plug-in project is working fine in IBM Notes and it has graphic pages. It used a lot of library like:
    org.eclipse.jface,
    org.eclipse.swt,
    org.eclipse.ui,
    org.eclipse.wb.swt,
Now we want to decouple this project from IBM Notes and make it as standandalone Java application. It could be eclipse dependent Java application, but is not plugin into IBM Notes. How to way we can convert it to standard alone Java application ? Please let me know the idea/main steps if you have any idea. I hope I don't need to rewrite every thing.
    Thanks

Use the file->import option to create a JDeveloper project from either existing source or WAR file.
An example of the approach is shown here:

  • Sharing / Importing iMovie 8 project in iMovie 11

I've shared an iMovie 8 project file *.rcproject with a colleague.  It is a template we duplicate over and over where we just swap out the radio show audio track.  My colleague uses iMovie 11.
When she downloaded the *.rcproject file to her User/Movie/iMovie Projects folder it didn't show up as a project when she opened iMovie.  So, she tried to use the IMPORT feature ( file | import | import iMovie HD) but the file was greyed out.
Is there a way to share the actual project file from 8 to 11 w/out converting it to a movie?  The project has dozens of storyboard pieces, like graphics, background music, and text overlays we'd like the ability to move around and edit, as well as exit slides that we like to swap out from time to time.  So keeping it in its original project format will be essential to streamlining this transition from me to her.
    Thanks.

I swear I saw on this board a while back instructions on how to open an iMovie 8 project in iMovie 6.
iMovie '08 projects are stored as a "text" file describing how the physical movie would be created from the resource files and how effects are to be applied. iMovie HD, on the other hand, only imports physical media files. You can, of course, export your iMovie '08 project to your hard drive as DV or AIC and import that file to either iMovie HD or GarageBand for audio editing (or share it to the Media Browser for audio editing in GarageBand).

  • Shared iMovie 9.0 Project using iDVD option did not work

I created an iMovie project and want to create a DVD. I shared the iMovie project using the Share>iDVD option. The file took about 1-1/2 hours to create. Once it was completed iDVD opened but no movie appeared. I only saw the standard 4 option splash plate you get when iDVD opens. The created file exists, I found it. I tried opening the file using "Open Existing Project" but the file won't open. I thought the file was too big, but reading other posts that is not the problem.
Why won't the shared file appear in iDVD??

ask the makers of this 3rd party plugin.
    try the free perian.org plugin.
… why that historic format anyhow …?
keep in mind: iMovie is meant for Camcorders.

  • URGENT!!!!! JDev is not showing my project (when I opened it this morning)

    Hello All,
I am using JDev 10.1.3.4 for the last 3 months and all was well. I worked in it yesterday night and everything was working as expected. I saved my work before logging off and when I opened it this morning, I don't see my application/projects. If I click on Re-open, it is empty (JDev does not have any thing in the memory.)
While JDev was starting up, I did get an error message to which I did not pay much attention and just clicked ok (as that was the only option) Since I was checking emails and stuff on other screens all I remember from the message is that it said something about UDDI (that it cannot access UDDI or something)
I need to start working right away as this is a critical time for us and code migration is this Friday.
    Please Help,
    Thanks,

    One more thing,
When I click View - > and any of the Navigators (Application, System, Connection etc.) nothing comes up. I don't see any of the panes. There is just 1 blue screen!!!
I found a post very similar to mine - "BUG Application Navigator is Empty". Shay Shmeltzer has suggested: If you start JDev using the \jdeveloper\jdev\bin\jdev.exe - are there any exceptions shown in the dos window?
I did this and got a long list of error messages. This first one is:
**** Unable to find class oracle.tip.tools.ide.pm.addin.BPELOptions.*
**** This object will be loaded as null.*
    java.lang.NullPointerException at orcle.ideimpl.docking.DockStationImpl.stateChanged(DockStationImpl.java:1854)
    at oracle.ideimpl.docking.DockStationImpl.initialize(DockStationImpl.java:258
And the error log goes on and on...
How can I paste a screen shot of the dos window here? I tried doing that but could not paste

Shay Shmeltzer has also suggested to see
From inside JDeveloper do help->about and look at the properties tab for the ide.user.dir attribute to figure out where the directory is.
For me this (help _> properties -> ide -> user -> dir) is empty!!!!!

  • Sharing a web dynpro project

I want to know few details about Web dynpro project
1.I have created a wd project and started working on it creating some views etc. Same is being done by another colegue of mine. for example he also had created same structure of the project started working on some views . What all ( files)should i copy from his system so that the views created by him is available to me.
How sharing of this works other than pvcs OR cvs
    2. Is it possible for me to update my model using a modified wsdl?

    Hi Sujesh,
For sharing the web dynpro projcts you need JDI(Java Develpment Infrastructure) installed in your server. In that you need DTR(Design Time Repository) service of JDI. For details on this try this link.

  • DSC VI won't connect to shared variable outside of project

My main VI will start up and connect to shared variable if I first have my project open.  It will not connect to them if I try to run it by itself.  I am deploying the library programmatically, but that doesn't seem to help.
Also, I can't get the main VI to run on startup.
    Thanks

    Hi Brian,
Thank you for the additional information. Let's put aside the run when opened issue and try to work on having your variables deploy and connect successfully.
When you run the VI within the project, are the variables successfully deployed as well?
Where are you seeing that the path to the library is blank? Where do you see that the data binding path for the variable in the working VI gets changed?
It would be quite useful for you to post a small example project, with one library, and we can tackle these questions individually, as with so many configurations (in project, not in project,  running when opened, deploying successfully), I am having a little trouble keeping them straight.

  • Developing an Eclipse RCP Plugin Project with CE and NWDI

    Hallo,
I want to know what's the best way to create an Eclipse RCP application and have the sources managed by the NWDI.
My problem is that development components within a software component can only be plain java projects and not plugin projects. Now I can convert a plugin project to a development component but when I try to build this dc it fails because the needed libraries for this origin plugin project (Plug-In Dependencies) are not available because is it now just a plain java project.
However I could create another dc with the needed libraries and add this dc as a required dc but then it is not the same as a standard plugin project and I don't know if that could create problems then.
In case anybody knows how to solve this problems, please give me a hint.
    Fabian

    Hi,
I fixed the java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError problem in the Eclipse 3.1 Plug-in: in the Run > Environment, set the CLASSPATH variable to the directory containing the target program's package hierarchy. Now the Trace program runs ok when invoked from the plug-in.
However, when I repeated the same configuration in Eclipse 3.0.2, I got the following runtime error.
    Unhandled event loop exception
    Reason:
    com/sun/jdi/connect/VMStartException
Isn't Eclipse 3.0.2 supposed to behave in the same way? Any help will be much appreciated!

  • Imovie 11 - how can I shared to idvd a project that I modified and finalized for the second time?

I finalized a project (iMovie 11), shared with iDVD just as a test. Then I came back to the project, included A LOT of things, finalized again and when I shared to iDVD i just show the first finalized project. How can I work with my hole project in iDVD?
I tried to save as my project, but there is not this option.
Please HELP me. The old iMovie was much better. :-(.
    Tks a lot
    Gil

Try first sharing to Media Browser from iMovie in the Large Size.
After it is finished, you should be able to see it in the Media browser on the iDVD side of things. Drag it into a new project and continue working in iDVD.

  • Eclipse Confusion: Different project types

I have a JSP project that I'm working on in Eclipse. It's such a pain because I need different project functionality like JSP, JSF, JBossIDE, etc...the problem is that each functionality is part of a different project type.
i.e. When you select File -> New -> Project, there are different project types. Any project can only have one type (or can it?). So if I need multiple functionality within a project, how do I make this happen?
Obviously you wouldn't limit yourself to just one functionality because of the IDE's limitation...
Is it possible to combine multiple projects into one complete project? This seems like such a disgusting and difficult solution...files split apart into different projects just because one uses JSP and another uses JSF and another uses EJB...
How do you deal with this?

    Is that possible?
If no,what else solutions can I have for choice to achieve the goal.
Can make against the reservation and do goods movement into different accounting subject.

  • Eclipse: why cant project A see project B?

i have a project called 'Exceptions' in a folder of the same name. in that folder is a package called 'exceptions', and in that package is a class called 'EndRunException'.
I also have another project called LOG, with a class inside it called LOG. This class compiles no problem.
However, when i try to include this class in my
EndRunException class I am told it cannot be found. I
added LOG to the project->properties->java build
path->projects screen and it still says it cannot be found.
Other projects can see the LOG class, but not this one.
The only thing I am thinking is that Eclipse has problems
seeing other classes from a package. Does the fact that
EndRunException is in a package have anything to do with
    it?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

No, it's got to do with the fact that you don't know Eclipse well.duffymo,
you may well be right that I don't know eclipse as well as I
think I do. However, I think it's erroneous to say I am better off
without it just because I am having troubles upgrading.
Anyways, I do know how packages and CLASSPATH works. I
think my problem is how projects are handled by Eclipse.
    Here is a new example:
I just tried an experiment. I made a new project called ABC in
my Eclipse workspace (totally arbitrary name). Then, in the
'src' folder I created a new class called practice.java and
added the LOG project to the ABC project. I then instantiated
a LOG object in the practice class. I then opened a new
package in that same folder and put a class inside the
package called MyClass.java (once again, totally arbitrary
names!). Inside that package I tried to instantiate a LOG
object and get an error saying the LOG type cannot be
resolved, EVEN THOUGH the project is already added in
the current project and other classes in the project can see
    it.
That is why I suspect there is something going on with
    packages and Eclipse projects.
    Am I nuts?

compare with ecplise netbeans is best it have
    1) xml gui tool, verification and validation
    2) no need to create web.xml
    3) debug also easy and user friendly.Eclipse also offers this.
After all, just install them both and try them both out. If you want my opinion: Eclipse Europa for Java EE or IntelliJ IDEA.

  • How to deploy Shared Variables with aliases (Project Variable), when some machines are offline?

    Hi all,
I have a distributed application (PC + a few CompactRIOs). My PC contains variables that have aliasing enabled -- they are bound to variables on the cRIOs.
One of the cRIOs is currently offline. I'm trying to deploy some changes I've made on the PC side. Unfortunately, LabVIEW refuses to deploy my PC libraries, because it can't connect to the cRIO that the variables are bound to.
How can I bypass that check, and force my PC to update? (I don't see why it's compulsory for the cRIO to be online for this :-/)
    Thanks in advance!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for responding, Esteban!
    To answer your questions:
No error codes. The deployment dialog just says, "Failed to connect to Real-Time target". That's expected, because the cRIO is not connected to the network.
I'm binding simple numeric types only.
The cRIO has been taken offline for maintenance. I'd like to update my PC .lvlib files, and test some modified PC code, but I can't because LabVIEW won't let me deploy my PC libraries or run the VIs if it can't find the cRIO. (Here's another common use case: I'm developing software before I've received my hardware, and would like to test my VIs without a cRIO connected)
I've attached a minimal example (LV 2012 SP1). I have a VI on the PC that plots data from the cRIO, and processes local data. I'm trying to run the PC VI when the cRIO is offline.
Expected outcome: The VI should run, and "PC Output" should change according to "PC Input". "cRIO Output" should have a default value, and the PSP LED should be red -- mousing over the LED should say "Bad Quality".
Actual outcome: LabVIEW refuses to run the VI completely, saying "Failed to connect to Real-Time target".
