JEditorPane Not Reading Quotation Marks or Apostrophes from HTML

Hi folks. I used the following code to create and populate a JEditorPane:
          try
               pane = new JEditorPane("file:///c:/OverviewDocument.htm");

          JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(pane);
          add(scrollPane);
          pane.setEditable(false);The HTML file being read is simply some text with a bit of formatting. However, the pane is not showing the quotes or apostrophes, but is instead showing "&rsquo" where the apostrophes should be and "&ldquo" where the quotes should be. I'm sure it's something quite simple. Could anyone provide some suggestions? Thanks a lot!

back to them. But it sees the xml exceptions (apostrophes,
quaotation marks etc.) as html mark up when i email it back out.

I'm trying to connect a subVI with my VI, they both share common variables and the subVI is not reading one of the variables from the main VI...

I can't figure out why the subVI will not read this one particular variable from the main VI. How can I figure out how to make sure these two VI's are communicating properly?

i am getting below error in goldengate due to mount point full and i released the space and still the same error for all gg processes. i can see the *cpe cpr file become 0 bytes. so i deleted and re added the extract and repliacat and while adding the replcat i used add replicat checkpoint table because of that multiple entries of same replicat came in checkpoint table . my checkpoint details also present in ./GLOBALS. now my doubt is if add replicate with mentioning checkpoint table name will duplicate entry will be created or what is the work around for this.

When downloading text, quotation marks, commas & apostrophes are rendered as gibberish. How can I cure this?

I use IBM Lotus Symphony as my default word processor. When I download materials as .txt, all apostrophes, quotation marks and hyphens are shown as gibberish> How do I get them to download and display normally?

If you have a problem with display of fonts in Firefox, you can try to change font setting in Tools menu, Options window, Content panel, fonts section.

FIMMA - sync engine - not reading the new custom resource from portal

I added a new custom resource in FIM portal. I added 5 attributes to it. FIMMA refresh schema is not reading the new schema. It says schema is uptodate. I tried IIS reset and even all server restarts. What am I mising?

Did you add the resource to the synchronization filter? I believe it's administration->all resources->synchronization filter. Then do the IIS reset and sync engine schema update. Only resources in that filter can be seen by the sync engine.

AE not reading all the XMP data from DNG files

I'm working on a very large time-lapse for a construction company - I have a sunset that is broken between two folders and rendering the folders seperately makes Quicktime unhappy during playback and I get an ugly jump in sunset exposure.
So I combined the two folders in Lightroom (LR) from my RAW files (NEF) and exported the entire sequence as DNG files with simpler numbering. The sequence is about 1560 files and constitutes about 22 GB of data. I created a new LR library from the DNG sequence to make sure it all looked good and it does.
I imported the same DNG sequence into AE, checked a few frames in the preview and sent it out to render. Two thirds of the way through the QT movie, exported in H.264 at 30 fps, I start seeing problems. Huge sections look like the XMP data has not been read, then there's a good section and then bad again. I matched the movie time to preview in AE and indeed saw the same problems in the AE preview. So the problem begain in AE's reading the files from the folder, not in rendering.
I went back to LR for file comparison. There was no problem in LR. All the DNGs look great.
I'm on a MacBookPro Retina with 2.8 GHz Intel processor, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 Ram and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB graphics
I have the standard 69GB cache on an external drive and have 11GB RAM available for AE.
Installed CPUs =8
CPUs reserved for other apps = 2
RAM allocation per background CPU = 1GB
Actual CPUs that will be used = 6
I have the latest AE from the Adobe Cloud, although I haven't done the most recent update yet.
My thought was to break the folder up into smaller segments for rendering, but that's not the problem. I see the XMP hasn't been consistantly read in preview. To me it doesn't make sense that the folder is too large for preview because it's not even rendering it there, just reading the files...?
Any insight, solutions?

Hi Andy,
I dunno how best to get extracted xmp files into the raw folders, but if you are comfortable with exiftool, you can use it to extract xmp sidecars from DNG files.
If you want a turn-key solution which does not required you to futz with exiftool, then consider a free plugin I wrote:
robcole.com - xEmP
It will allow you to create xmp sidecars with all your DNG adjustments and metadata (which can then be applied to the non-dng raw files).
However, if you won't need the DNGs in your catalog afterward, then the easiest way is to convert them back to proprietary raw format using this plugin (also free, and I wrote it):
robcole.com - UnDNG
Conceptually, you can think of it as converting the DNGs to proprietary raw format, but note: it doesn't convert anything, it just allows existing raw files that are NOT in the catalog, to replace the DNGs that are in the catalog. All adjustments and metadata and everything else will be preserved (just like when you convert a proprietary raw to DNG format).

Ps4 Not reading discs after waking up from rest mode

I'm having a really weird issue with my PS4, it seemed to have started after the 2.50 update.
It's happened about twice and is starting to make me think something might be wrong with my disc drive, which I certainly hope isn't the case since it had no issues before.
The issue is pretty much described in the subject. Rarely, but enough to be an annoyance, when I start my ps4 from rest mode and change discs, the disc won't read. I've sat waiting a while and nothing happens.
I try cleaning the disc and all that but it doesn't fix the problem, the only way to fix it is to turn off or reset the console.
Any ideas? Hoping its a software issue, as like I said, it only started AFTER the 2.50 update. It's done it on 2.51 already. EDIT: I've seem to be able to replicate it, when the console is in rest mode and I swipe on the disc button and it starts up, it doesn't read the disc, but after waiting a couple of mins it seems to be reading the disc.

This problem started after the 2.51 update for me. It will read old discs but not the two new ones I've bought ( and replaced after ps told me it was the discs). The only thing that fixes it ( and only temporarily ) is to go into safe mode and reinstall the update. After that it reads the disc but only for a bit, eventually it just stops running and tells you to check the disc. As I said these are brand new discs. The last thing I was told to try by PS was to go online and load system software on to a jump drive and try to reinstall whole system. Unfortunately I will first have to download all profiles games onto jump drives, unless you pay for PSplus. NIf anyone out there no of a better way to do this, or if there is a way to go back to the system before the 2.51 update, please let me know?

Itunes will not read some of me music from my external harddrive?????

I keep getting a(!) everytime I try to open up music that is in wma file, what do I need to do???

a wma file is a Microsoft file. it will only play in Windows media player and afew other players that have basicly paid Microsoft a fee to have there players able to play wma files. iTunes will not play wma files at all BUT itunes makes it easy as pie to convert those files into something it can play long as there not protected wma's you may have bought online. First goto edit, preferencs. Once there in the settings, hit the "Advance" tab at top, you will see 3 more tabs appear below. hit the "Import" tab there you will most likly want to set it to "MP3" so you will be able to play all songs u import or rip from CDs on iTunes and other apps. Below that you can set the bit rate. after that just rightclick all the songs with the ! beside them and select Import or convert section to MP3

Mac not reading internal hard drive, running from external

I have a Macbook Pro, that stopped working on me.
After some tinkering around, I was able to boot up after it crashed, but only by removing the hard drive and accessing it through the USB ports.
Two part question...
A- How do I see if the computer is recognizing the internal hard drive? (I purchased a new one and placed it in the unit)
B- How do I clone the old hard drive, now external, to the new hard drive?
I also was not able to partition the new hard drive yet

If the drive mounts through a USB, it should be OK. The cable connecting the HD to the logic board inside the system may be faulty. That service/part runs around $75 and can be had at the Genius Bar. Servlet Displaying Quotation Marks as Non-Printable Characters

I have a servlet which is reading an HTML file and displaying it's contents. My problem is that, in the output, quotation marks in the source html (" and ') are being reproduced as non-printable characters (). Furthermore, the same servlet prints the quotation marks fine under the Linux OS and Apache Web Server, but does not under the Windows (2000) OS and IIS Web Server (running j2sdk-1_3_0_02-win). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Code in question is below. "str" is the line from the file. :

Technically, you don't need to add the "\n" in there anyway. Newlines mean nothing to an HTML file if all you're doing is displaying that file. The lack of a carriage return, when the HTML is parsed, is completely irrelevant.
Also, when handling large String concatenations, it's always going to be more efficient to use StringBuffer.

InDesign CS4 quotation marks problems in epub

I use InDesign CS4 to create epub files. Occassionally I will have what I guess you would call a translation error from the InDesign file to the epub file. Quotation marks and apostrophe marks do not translate at all. It doesn't happen with every file. If I combine the bad export file with another file the quotation marks will be just fine. I have even tried inserting a special character from the Type menu and it does the same thing.
Example:
How it shows in the InDesign file -
You’re a fool, Grey.
"Miss Steele. What a pleasant surprise."
How it shows up in the epub file:
You‚Äôre a fool, Grey.
‚ÄúMiss Steele. What a pleasant surprise.‚Äù
Does anyone have any suggestions to keep this from happening?

My suggestion is to upgrade to CS5.5. The epub capabilities are light years ahead of CS4.
That said, where are you seeing the problem? ADE? iPad? Kindle?

Quotation marks in cuepoints

I'm using cuepoints to display closed captions for a
streaming flash (flv) video. Everything's working great, except
that the quotation marks (") and apostrophes (') are displaying as
code like "'". Curly quotes don't show up at all. I also
tried putting a backslash before the quote, and changing the
display box in Flash to display HTML, but no go.
Does anybody know how to display quotes in cuepoint files?

Language-Sensitive Inner/Outer Quotation Marks

According to w3c HTML 4.0.2 spec:
Visual user agents must ensure that the content of the Q element is rendered with delimiting quotation marks. Authors should not put quotation marks at the beginning and end of the content of a Q element.
User agents should render quotation marks in a language-sensitive manner (see the lang attribute). Many languages adopt different quotation styles for outer and inner (nested) quotations, which should be respected by user-agents.
The following example illustrates nested quotations with the Q element.
John said, <Q lang="en-us">I saw Lucy at lunch, she told me
<Q lang="en-us">Mary wants you
to get some ice cream on your way home.</Q> I think I will get
some at Ben and Jerry's, on Gloucester Road.</Q>

I am currently using unicode 201C and 201D to render outer quotes and 2018 and 2019 for inner quotes as shown in the picture at the link shown below:

I can change my parser to accept user-specified character like so:

but if there is a way to obtain the language-specific characters, it would be great!

Question marks replace apostrophes and quote marks incontextediting

Every time a client (www.edpilolla.com) pushes "Done" in InContextEditing, all of the quotation and apostrophe marks are converted to question marks.
EXAMPLE: "Please answer my question or I'll be stumped." Becomes: ?Please answer my question or I?ll be stumped.?
This only happens with one client (www.edpilolla.com). He is logging into incontextediting using a Mac running Mozilla Firefox 3.5.5. to edit web book: http://edpilolla.com/stories/geek_sex/geek-sex_ch01.html
What do I need to do so that this client can edit pages with incontextediting without quotation marks and apostrophes becoming question marks after he pushes "Done"?

In your HTML...
Change this line:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
to this:
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
