JMenubar hidden under JScrollPane

Hi,
JDK 1.3
quick question... is there any way to stop JMenuItems in a JMenu, displayed on a JMenubar at the top of a Swing application from hidding behind the content of a Frame below it?
I.e. when the FILE JMenu option is selected the drop down menu is hidden behind the content of the Frame.
is there anyway to ensure the JMenuItems are always displayed 'on top'?
The Frame is used to encapsulate the platform's WWW browser, displaying webpages. The class used to build this native frame extends java.awt.Canvas (this is the only way we could get around NT proxy server authentication) and therefore cannot be changed to use a JEditiorPane or JPane.
Any ideas?

All SWING components are lightweight. But you can make all popup menus to be heavyweight (like in AWT) for this call first the static method javax.swing.JPopupMenu.setDefaultLightWeightPopupEnabled(false);

  • JMenuBar hides under Canvas

    Hello,
    I am doing a program that has a JMenuBar and Canvas,
    The Menu Bar shows but when i click on it the JMenuItems are not shown they are hidden under the canvas which is stretched on the frame,
    when i dont add the canas the menu bar works .
    Thanks for help.

    Don't mix AWT (Canvas) and Swing (JMenuBar) unless you have very strong reasons and know what you are doing. Instead of a Canvas, can you use a JPanel? Hopefully all is in a Swing root container such as a JFrame or JApplet.

  • Adobe Acrobat Pro text box not printing and is hidden under box highlight.

    Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.13.  I am completing a form with text box throughout the document. I can no get the text box to printing and the text is hidden under box highlight.  I have tried printing with the print feature 'Comments & Forms/ Document and Markups' with no luck.

    It's doing that because you have field highlighting enabled. YOu can either turn it off or make the field read-only (if it's only used for display and not entry).

  • Top 2-3 files displayed in Finder are hidden under Finder's menu bar. How do I modify view to correct this?

    Recently updated to Yosemite 10.10.2 on MacBook Pro (early 2011) and now when I open a folder in Finder, the top 2-3 files displayed are hidden under Finder's menu bar. I can scroll up to see the files, but they snap back under the menu bar preventing me from selecting or opening them. This problem occurs in the following Finder view preferences, "icons" "in lists" and "in columns" but not "Cover Flow".  Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

    This sounds like a Windows thing ( You can post a photo and I can tell you for certain). Those folders are Windows system created folders that your computer has had since it was installed, all Firefox does is use the Windows File picker, which is what you see when you open that window. So, to customize you'd have to do that from Windows Explorer (not Firefox).
    The Window should however remember what folder you were in last.

  • New Desktop files hidden under Dock

    I recently upgraded to Tiger. Since then, new files on the desktop (copied from elsewhere or downloaded from internet) frequently land underneath the dock (at the bottom of the screen). Every time this happens I have to 1) move the dock, 2) move the file icon, 3) replace the Dock.
    Very annoying!
    The folks at the local Apple Store have no answer except to avoid putting files on the desktop, which is not a very satisfying answer. is this actually how it's supposed to work in Tiger?
    Thanks!
    Ps. tiger was first installed with archiving (something like that). Then reinstalled to clean hard drive after I reported all the problems I was having (including this one). Apple store genius bar did both installs.

    "Are the items forced to go there because all the other space is taken up?"
    Well, yes and no. It seems to like columns, and some columns are full. But there is room for more columns. I've tried various viewing options.
    My dock is too big to see a file over the top of it. I'd like to keep it that size.
    The other suggestion they gave me was to "hide" the dock. I'm trying that now, but I don't like it much. It's too slow to bring it up again. That is, I move my mouse to the bottom and have to wait for it to respond (I'm an impatient kind of guy).
    Yes, I heard about the performance hit. I'll take steps to minimize my file/folder count on the desktop.
    ..... Never mind...
    I just found the answer, although it still seems like the desktop should be smart enough to not put files under the doc:
    I had the desktop view option set to "keep arranged by..." As soon as I turned that off, the files will now go anywhere(?). At least not under the dock.
    Thanks for your help. I just got rid of most of my desktop files and folders, too.

  • Window hidden under toolbar

    Is there a way to make Photoshop stop hiding the top left corner of my images under the toolbar, when the toolbar is parked by default at the top left of the workspace? If not, is there a way to suggest to Adobe that they fix this, so I don't have to move each and every window when I need to see the entire image at once? It would also seem natural to have Photoshop be smart enough to know that I have side palette windows open and to not put images under toolbars, palettes, etc. Anyone out there have the same problems when zooming in and out on images?

    Thanks for the support Ramón. I find it annoying that Photoshop (as advanced as it is in many respects) lacks such a seemingly common sense idea such as allowing the user to see the full window without dragging, moving, using command keys, etc. When you are working with a lot of images day after day, it really is something that Adobe should fix. Where are the beta testers and are they working photographers?

  • Calenders hidden under Windows pane

    I noticed in ICal two of my entourage calenders are located in the windows pull down menu under availiability. When I select them these calenders pop-up but they do not show under the calenders in the main window. How can i transfer these back to the main calender window.

    Hi,
    Under 10.6 you will find the option to include them in iCal's Preferences > Accounts tab > Delegation. Put a check next to the ones you want to see in the main window. (Your details show 10.5.7 though)
    Best wishes

  • When link is opened by clicking middle button, it appears in tab toolbar;but when opened via left button (set to open in new tab) it is not shown - hidden under BACK key? I'd like left clicked tabs shown. & use mid.button for Enter.

    Windows XP; FireFox 4.0
    Would like not to have to use any keyboard shortcuts.

    No. The Tab bar is a regular toolbar in current Firefox versions, so you get the normal right-click context menu of a toolbar if you right-click the tab bar.
    You can double click on empty space on the tab bar to open a new tab if you do not want to use the new tab button.<br />
    You can drag a link on that new tab button to open that link in a new tab.<br />
    You can also drag the new tab button on another toolbar if you would like that better.<br />
    Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"<br />

  • Can I have an image "hidden" under each bullet point?

    Is there a way to do a standard highlighted bullet point build-in such as:
    |
    |  Native trees in our area:
    |     - Poplar
    |     - Oak
    |     - Maple
    |
    but when I play the presentation, after each of the bullet point is highlighted, the next slide is a photo of the item in question.  In other words, the slides would play as such:
    1:
    |
    | Native trees in our area:
    |     - Poplar
    |
    2:
    |
    | <show photo of the poplar>
    |
    3:
    |
    | Native trees in our area:
    |     - Poplar
    |     - Oak
    |
    4:
    |
    | <show photo of the oak>
    |
    etc...
    Right now I am duplicating the main text slide multiple time and adding a new bullet each time manually but I was wondering if there is a more efficient way to do that.  Just like when using the Highlighted bullet Build-In feature but with a photo in between each bullet.
    Thanks for any help.
    Bo

    However,  a larger photo, can accomodate text of 8 lines with plenty space to display a full hight single photo.
    each line would be animated in as a build while the picture is static througout:
    Indeed.  But I need to photo to change with each bullet point.
    Thats allready covered in the first post, but I made a complete set using 8 bullet points for 8 full screen pictures.  The first bullet point and picture are shown with the build details.
    If you want a list of settings for each item or a copy of the Keynote so you can see how it works let me know with a contact email address.
    Very nice.  Is Robing Hood still hiding in that forrest?
    I looked but couldnt find him.

  • Dropdown Menu bar being hidden by the Textarea

    My problem is that the menu bar does show up, but the text area is over the dropdown menu. You can see the drop down menu start but then is hidden under the textarea. I hope that a good enough discription.
    The frame is a typical JFrame that contains a BorderLayout. My class TheFrame is an extention of JFrame. In the CenterPanel I have a Text area. In the south panel I have another BorderLayout with a text area as the center and a button for the east panel. The menu is going under the text area in the center panel. This might be a bug with the borderlayout?
    public TheFrame(){
    super("Com");
    getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout());
    JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar();
    setJMenuBar(menuBar);
    menuBar.add(getMyMenuBar());
    getContentPane().add(getCenterPanel(), BorderLayout.CENTER);
    getContentPane().add(getSouthPanel(), BorderLayout.SOUTH);
    pack();
    private JMenu getMyMenuBar(){
    JMenu menu = new JMenu("File");
    menu.add(createConnectItem());
    menu.add(new JMenuItem("test"));
    return menu;
    private JMenuItem createConnectItem(){
    JMenuItem connect = new JMenuItem("New");
    ActionListener listener = new ConnectMenuItemActionListener(com);
    connect.addActionListener(listener);
    return connect;
    }

    I don't see the textarea in the code you posted.
    But I know that the described problem comes up when
    you use "TextArea" unstead of "JTextArea".
    "TextArea" is an awt component and "JTextArea" is
    the corresponding swing component. You should not
    mix awt and swing components in the same GUI.
    However, "TextArea" has the scrolling facility already included.
    With "JTextArea" you must use JScrollPane if you need
    scrolling.
            JScrollPane scrollpane = new JScrollPane();
            JTextArea textarea = new JTextArea();
            scrollpane.setViewportView(textarea);

  • HT4928 my purchased apps do not show up on my mac book but they do if i log in on my iPad,they are not hidden either, why is this?

    I have purchased loads of apps on my Ipad including pages and numbers, I want to use then on my new mac book pro so i logged in to my app store account and none of the apps I can access on my ipad show up in my "purchased" area. they are not hidden under my account settings either, how do i get them on my mac book, I have logged in to the app store via my ipad and theey are all on there, am I being a dumb fool? this is the first Macbook i have ever owned and dont know my way around, any help please!?

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    Apps for the Mac and apps for the iPad are different and they can't be installed on the other one. Also, the iPad apps you purchased are on the App Store, and the Mac apps you purchase are on the Mac App Store, so you can't get your iPad apps on the Mac App Store.
    In your case, you have to buy Numbers and Pages for Mac on the Mac App Store, because OS X and iOS are different operating systems

  • Safari top of page hides under browser bar?

    Every time I go to a webpage (Facebook as you can see here) for some reason the top of the page is hidden under the top of the web browser search bar. I just got my MAC this past week and installed the latest update. I didn't have any problems before doing so. Also, it only happens when I full screen the browser page. When I minimize it to a floating window it works fine.
    Any idea how I can fix this as it is very frustrating?
    Thank you.

    From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

  • Camera Roll Icon has Hidden!

    I have been adding and removing photos from my iphone4 photo album and when I saw you couldnt delete photos from within the photo album (only by sync) i decided to remove it. Now when I go into photos the Camera Roll Icon / Bar is hidden under the title Albums and I cant access it?

    I've had this problem for several days but picked up an answer from another post. To "reveal" your Camera Roll Album from beneath the grey "Album" Title Bar just hold down your sleep/wake button for 15 seconds and power off. Then simply restart your iPhone, click on your Photos App and - now you should see Camera Roll revealed again. My problem started when,following a Sync session, I tried to open my Photos app a bit too quickly and i may have (temporarily) corrupted some command or other. Seems to me that if in doubt try a hard restart is always worth trying first

  • Video Player Control Bar hidden by OSX's Menu Bar

    The iTunes video window's control bar is hidden under the menu bar. So I can't move the window or close it.
    I can't find a way to reset this (or figure out how it happened).
    Here's a link to a screenshot to help explain:

    I played with the window size and eventually the window reset itself.
