Joins in Desktop

Hi,
I'm trying to create a new workbook in Desktop and in the second wizard step when I choose a folder I want the workbook has it appears me the following error:
Cannot resolve join configuration. Reason: more than 1 detail folder uses no agregate items.
I defined two joins in Discoverer Administrator using the folder I mention in this lines and it was OK.
I would like to know why appear me this error and how I could solve it.
Thanks.

FYI.
Mentioned prob is resolved by selecting Disable fan-trap detection in Advanced tab.

  • How to find out what server the outlook client is connected to/change it automatically

    Hi,
I am performing a server migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2010 (the previous installation was installed by an outsourced provider and is rubbish so I'm configuring it properly). On the of things the existing server lacks is a CAS array configured,
so I have built the new Exchange 2010 server, configured a new DB and CASArray. I have created a brand new mailbox for a new user and the user's outlook shows it is connected to casarray.domain.local, I have migrated my own mailbox but internally my outlook
shows it is connected to oldserver.domain.local (under the account settings when you go to change the settings for the account), this is on a domain joined internal desktop. But at home on my personal laptop non-domain joined, it has appeared to reflect the
new casarray.domain.local. The outlook client is 2007 in both situations.
When I run the following command, it shows my mailbox is indeed connected to the new exchange server, but this is not true in outlook
    Get-LogonStatistics -Server "new-exch2010" | where {$_.clientname -eq "new-exch2010"}| ft username,servername,clientname
If I run the above command against the old server my name shows on that list as well. When I look at the connection status of my outlook it shows that it is connected to casarray for directory, but the old server for mail.
    A couple of other things:
Mailflow is now going to the new exchange server from the gateway over port 25, the autodiscover record in the internal DNS is now also pointing to the new exchange server, outlook clients and users computers have been completely restarted but still don’t
seem to pick up the new settings, both the old server and new server functions as a multi-role exchange having the Hub, CAS and MBX roles.
Now that you have all that background info my question is two parts:
What is the correct powershell command I can run on the exchange server to ensure that all my outlook clients are connected to the new exchange server for all connection types (or identify those which are connected against the old server)?
How do I get the outlook clients to automatically pick up the casarray servername once their mailboxes have been migrated?
I am considering removing the CAS from the old server which may force outlook to find it’s new server but am unsure whether this will work or not, and I think I should migrate all the mailboxes into the new DB before I do this.
Other than that, I am out of ideas.
    Appreciate, any help. Thanks
    Steve

I had already run the command Get-MailboxDatabase | FL Identity,RpcClientAccessServer
and it only identified the old database as being tied to the server name, the new database has the correct casarray and all mailboxes are in this new database. should I also set the old database to point to my casarray as the second command indicates? can't
    do any harm right?
also, I have outlook 2007 and 2013 at home and both of them had automatically reconfigured
themselves to point to casarray, my problem is with the internal clients.
today I have also noticed in DNS there is a Zone which points to autodiscover.domain.co.uk
and in there it points to my old server.
a few things to note about the above:
    1. the zone is pointing to the .co.uk domain not the .local - is this correct?
    2. should that zone even be in our internal DNS, i hadn't noticed on previous implementation
    of Exchange I have done
    3. if i change the record within that zone to point to my new server, will this likely show
up the popup message shown in this link http://www.rackspace.com/apps/support/portal/1218 I havent yet got a certificate for the new exchange server (few more days) and i dont want users seeing any kind of untrusted unsecure connection box or it
will only lead to panic and flooding the helpdesk
    many thanks
    Steve

IE 10 Update 2977629 on Windows 7 x64 SP1 repeatedly fails to install with error code 214794205 "Access is Denied".  This update is being run using an administrator account.  This is a systemic issue on all domain joined systems, desktops
not in a domain are not affected.  I cannot find any guidance on how to fix this, please help!

    Hi,
Based on your description, ED's suggestion is available. You could use gpresult command to export the group policy settings to check if there any group policy affect the installation.
About how to use it, please read the guide below:

  • I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, can't join existing wireless network with AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC wifi turned off.  How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. working fine with TM

I have a mid-2010 iMac and just purchased a 2TB TC, I just found out that it can't join existing wireless network with new AC standard so attached to iMac via ethernet with TC's wifi turned off.  How do i access TC now? not showing up in disk utility or on desktop. It is working fine with TM.  My cheeper seagate drives etc kept crashing, so i didnt trust cheeper back up options anymore.  Connected those drives to TM via firewire and could see the drives and access them.
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed.  I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc.  I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast. Getting over 50mbs downloads and over 30mbs uploads.  Plus everything in my home it connected to my fios router, airport express for music streaming, two apple tvs, vuezone camer system.  I really didn't want to monkey around too much with my system.  But are there other options to connect the new TC.  Can't find info anywhere for this and called apple who gave me the info above.  after hanging up, i see that i cant access my TC and I am wondering if i would have to reset it to turn wifi on again to make changes to the drive, turn off blinking light  or repair it in disk utility if it should become corrupted.
For other with similar issues i did solve some other problems: when i connected it to my ethernet port on my iMac wifi stopped working.  Found that I had to turn off the ethernet in the system>network screen, but then TM didn't see the TC so i restarted after changes and then it saw it.
Now a rant.  I can't believe in this wireless age that Apple would make a product that cant join a wireless net work.  The apple rep said i could return it and look for the previous TC that would join an existing wireless network.  Are we going backwards?
    Thanks!
    lennydas

Ok... it is getting a bit clearer but there are still some questions.
I connect to the internet via airport only and it is pretty fast.
I was assuming airport in this statement in your first post meant the TC or the Express.. but I now realise we are still in the mass confusion stage where apple calls everything wireless an airport. So what you mean is the airport internal card of the computer??
Also, I didn't want to bridge TC with my new fios router that I paid 100 dollars for, to get N speed and also paying 10 dollars more a month for fast speed.  I heard that bridging slows down everything and then there can be port issues with mail etc.
    I think this is mistaken.
Putting the TC in bridge mode plugged into your FIOS will not slow the network.. nor will it cause mail or port issues.. in bridge the TC is just a fancy WAP and switch plus the network hard drive.
If the computer is close it will be faster than the FIOS.
You can run both wireless networks with different names.. so it is clear which is which. But you can also setup roaming so the computers themselves pick which is the best wireless.
I tried extending the wireless net work and tried joining wireless network, but the TC kept crashing and I had to keep resetting the TC.  the Apple support person said these, extend wireless network and joint wireless network, are no longer a connection option with the new TC because of the new AC protocol.
    Thanks again!
You cannot extend to a non-apple wireless router.
You cannot use join a wireless network because when you do the ethernet ports will be cut off.
But that has not changed.. I don't think Apple support is correct.. there has been no change with the AC model.. it is simply a fact that apple routers do not work in join wireless mode other than as a dumb client. The same applies to AC as to the earlier version.. but I have asked another person to check this.
Join in the express is the only apple router that still allows an ethernet connection.
For now you best use of the TC is bridged to the FIOS. Wireless you can sort out between several options.

  • Lync 2013 Hosting Pack - cannot join external non federated meetings anonymously with desktop client

    Hello,
I Have a setup of LHP 2013. We have been testing federation and connections to external on-premises meetings.

From some old post I have read that was a bug in Lync client that did not allow fail-back to anonymous login with non-federated lync organization, but this has been fixed long ago.
If I do setup a federation beetween the organizations the meetings connect ok.
    Thanks for help!
    BR, Jouni

    Hi Johan,
Lync client in test has been fully updated.
I Think I found what was causing this. In my tests, I added and removed domains from allowed and blocked domains list, in tenant config.
First after tenant organization has been provisioned the AllowedDomains looks like this:
    Get-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -Tenant 10828ff2-165d-440f-9c00-6ce374ff0c6d
    Identity              : Global
    AllowedDomains        : Microsoft.Rtc.Management.WritableConfig.Settings.Edge.AllowAllKnownDomains
    BlockedDomains        : {}
    AllowFederatedUsers   : True
    AllowPublicUsers      : True
    SharedSipAddressSpace : False
And joining to non-federated meetings works correctly.
After fiddling with the allowed and blocked domains settings (adding and removing domains) settings look like this:
    Identity              : Global
    AllowedDomains        : Microsoft.Rtc.Management.WritableConfig.Settings.Edge.AllowList
    BlockedDomains        : {}
    AllowFederatedUsers   : True
    AllowPublicUsers      : True
    SharedSipAddressSpace : False
When I check what the "AllowList" keeps in, it is empty as it should:
    $tenant = Get-CsTenant | Where-Object {$_.Name -eq "tenantname"}
    $x = Get-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -Tenant $tenant.TenantId
    $x.AllowedDomains
    AllowedDomain : {}
If I set the AllowedDomain backup to original form meeting connections begin to work.
    $all = New-CsEdgeAllowAllKnownDomains
    Set-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -Tenant 10828ff2-165d-440f-9c00-6ce374ff0c6d -AllowedDomains $all
But now im just not very sure how I should setup the federation settings as per tenant/ExternalAccesspolicy/AccessEdgeConfiguration.. hmm..

  • A desktop is failing to join in Domain over a VSAT link. Error: Network path not found.

    Dear Friends,
Facing an issue for adding a desktop in Domain over VSAT. When I say enter after typing the domain name which i want to join. I am asked for User name and Password. After User name and password is entered it waits for a long
time and then it gives an error as Network Path not Found. I am pretty surprised why is it happening like that.
In hosts file too I am mentioning the IP of the DC at my Data Center.
I have another site over VSAT which has worst latency and more RTO's than this one, but on that site I am able to add a desktop in Domain. I don't have domain controller at the remote site which is connected by VSAT.

Please do not hardcode the domain IP address in your HOSTS file. That will just create issues.
Please make sure that your client computer points only to internal DNS servers for DNS resolutions.
You can use NSlookup to make sure that DNS resolution for your DCs A and SRV records are working properly:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/241515?wa=wsignin1.0
Also, make sure that you have no connectivity failures between your remote site and the one having your DCs using

  • Webex sessions are joined but remote user can't see my desktop

When invited to customer support sessions for EMC and Symantec, I go to their webex sites. They give me a join
session url. I click on it. The session opens but the remote
user cannot see my desktop. I can see them. I have virtual
box windows xp and opensolaris 2009.06 running on this
system. windows is running 3.6.9 firefox. opensolaris is running
3.1b. On both of those virtual machines, the webex runs fine.
My system is openindiana 148 with firefox 3.6.8

I experienced the same issue - the problem appears to lie with the "content-disposition" field in the message headers. Apple Mail always seems to set this to "inline", regardless of what settings you change ("View as Icon", "Windows-friendly", "Attachments at end" etc.) and, for some reason, Outlook users are unable to save these attached images files.
Finally, I discovered http://lokiware.info/Attachment-Tamer which is an add-on for Apple Mail and which can force the content-disposition field to "attachment" so the receiving Outlook client is able to save the attachments as normal. I have literally just been testing this myself and it seems to have done the trick.
I am in no way affiliated with Lokiware and do not gain in any way from promotion of their product - I'm just a very happy user!

  • Remote Desktop Session Host on Server 2012 not domain-joined

I have a server 2012 which is running Remote Desktop Session Host role without the Connection Broker like described here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2833839
Now the client would like the Network Level Authentication (NLA) disabled. And since server 2012 does not have the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration tool, I have to use the server manager console.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/630cc818-69b0-4e1c-8d65-1b895b20e203/where-is-the-remote-desktop-session-host-configuration-tool-in-server-2012-?forum=winserverTS
But when I go to the remote Desktop Services of Server manager, it says “You are currently logged on as local administrator on the computer. You must be logged on as a domain user to manage servers and collections.”
So I tried finding some Powershell cmdlet could help me with the problem. I guess
    Get-RDServer
or Set-RDSessionCollectionConfiguration would be the ones but I can’t seem to make them work.
Any help, or a hint that I going in the right direction or not?

    Hi,
Have you configure the certificate for your server?
Add the user under Remote Desktop user local group, configure FQDN name of server. Please see that if we are using RDS server in workgroup then most of the tools provided to make managing/configuring RDSH servers easier in 2012 will not work in a workgroup
configuration including some PowerShell command. You can check the below article for information.
    Deploying a RDSH Server in a Workgroup – RDS 2012 R2
    Hope it helps!

  • Setting Up a Domain User's Desktop in a Joined Workstation

On my Server's Domain (Averihire.local) I have, among others, a user account named "AveriTwo" which w/be for an employee who is to have limited capabilities.  When I first logged on to the account I was presented with a somewhat
generic desktop (unlike the one I get when I log on to that account via RDS).  The shortcuts that are on this generic desktop are only for programs that are installed locally on the workstation itself (i.e. C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (X86),
and sometimes there are server resident programs that the operator will need to be able to execute.  I open File Explorer and browsed to AveriTwo>Desktop, and the only think I saw there is a "desktop.ini" file.  I tried creating
a shortcut to a server based program in that desktop folder, but it doesn't show up on the workstation's desktop (so what is that folder for???).  I then tried "New Shortcut" on the workstation's desktop, but when I browsed to the
server, the only things that showed up were; netlogon, sysvol and Users.  So my first question is, how can I add shortcuts to server based programs to the workstation's desktop?
My second question involves Documents.  I need the domain administrator (on the workstation) to be able to save certain documents on the Server (e.g. in the "Public Documents" folder(s)) and private documents in the local Documents
folder(s).  I don't know how to do that, nor how to differentiate between public and private documents.
I'll be very grateful for any/all help with this, and thank you in advance.
    Capt. Dinosaur

Hi Darren, thanks for the response, and second things first.  You cleared up for me on how to save the documents to the server's "Public Documents" folder from the workstation.  I shared the folder with the
Security Group to which the workstation user belongs, and set up the security for it.  Then, in MS Word and Excel, I set the default document locations to the Server's Public Documents folder, and that now all works fin.
Regarding my first question, however, right now I'm so totally confused and befuddled, that I need to start all over.  So here goes:
First, ignore my comments about the desktop in RDS; I only mentioned that because I was kind of surprised that the RDS desktop and the workstation's default desktop aren't the same.  That workstation's user won't be using RDS.
Now, to explain my confusion, I opened File Explorer on both the workstation and the server, and here's what I found:
On the workstation: There are two folders for user AveriTwo; one named simply "AveriTwo" and one named "AveriTwo.AVERIHIRE", both of which contain ONLY TWO of the
shortcuts that appear on the AveriTwo's desktop (specifically Word and Excel).  Then there's another USER named "Public" under which there's a folder named "Public Desktop", which contains the rest of the shortcuts (Adobe Reader,
Ccleaner, Malwarebytes and WinZip) which appear on the user's desktop.
On the server: There's a folder named "AveriTwo" which contains nothing but a desktop.ini file.  Then there's the user named "Public" containing a folder named "Public
Desktop", in which there are many of the shortcuts that appear on the server (Administrator) desktop, and here's where the fun begins.  Three of the shortcuts in that folder (i.e. Adobe Reader, Ccleaner and WinZip) are also on the
workstation's desktop, while others are not (i.e. Docsvault Client**, Firefox Browser and PDF Creator).  Malwarebytes is in the Public folder on the workstation, but in the Administrator's desktop folder on the server.
From the above, it would appear that the Public Desktop folders on the workstation and the server are not the same folder (e.g. for kicks, I deleted from the server's Public Desktop folder one of the shortcuts that appears on both, and that didn't affect
the corresponding shortcut on the workstation).  But here's where it gets strange.  Originally, when I opened File Explorer on the workstation, the Public Desktop didn't appear under the Public User folder. So I added the security
group (G_AvOPER) in which the AveriTwo user is a member, to the Public User folder ON THE SERVER and Voila! the Public Desktop then appeared in File Explorer on the workstation.  That, then, would tend to contradict the above, and imply
that the Public Desktop folders on both computers are the same.  So it seems now that those two folders are the same except when they're not (!?).
** Docsvault Client is one of the programs that has to be executed from the workstations in order to manage the Docsvault (electronic encrypted filing cabinet) which is the essential core library for our operation.  I added the G_AvOper
group - with Full Control - to the Docsvault Client shortcut on the server, but still can't figure out how to make it available to the workstation.
I really need some enlightenment to Capt' Dinosaur's (above) Epistle to the Computions.  I've offered a prayer to Saint BIOS, but he hasn't responded<grin>.  Would someone PUHLEEZE come to my rescue?

  • I bought a new laptop and i want to install lightroom 5, which i have purchased and have on my desktop.  I do not want to join the creative cloud!!!!!

How do I install it, since my upgrades were done online?

Download the LR 5.7.1 installer from
Mac: Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Win: Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows
Install then enter your serial number.

  • I joined Creative Cloud and now I have two versions of lightroom on my desktop?

One version is the CC version and the other is my old version.  Should I be seeing both versions?  Which should I be using?

Was your old Lightroom the stand-alone version or the CC version?  I discovered installing the new CC version does not automatically uninstall a standalone version of 5.x  The catalog is copied and upgraded but the application and its original catalog stays intact.  Both versions are fully functional but an image imported or an edit done in V6/CC will not be visible if you launch the old version or vice versa.  After I upgraded I played a bit with the new CC version to verify my catalog came over properly and everything was working then uninstalled the old standalone version using the Control Panel app

  • Cannot connect desktop (wired) & laptop (wireless)

I've been at this for days, scoured much info and many threads, and tried many things; so I could go on and on for days about all I've found and tried.  I'll try to be concise, but I also want to be thorough.  Every other forum I’ve posted in has asked the same questions, so I’m just going to try to get it all out there right off the bat.  I apologize if I come off as curt.  I’m usually good for some laughs, but I’ve been at this for way too long and am feeling pretty deflated.
GOAL:  Achieve connectivity between my desktop and my new T520 - be able to swap files without fumbling thumb drives or emailing myself.
    SYSTEM SPECS:

    Network adaptor drivers: updated
    Router firmware: updated
Router has been restored to factory settings
Power cycles performed multiple times at various points
Tried static ip addresses (presently set to dynamic) - shared ip addresses not the cause
Sharing options have been enabled both in general network settings and specific folders
Pinging results in either "Request timed out."  or  "Destination host unreachable."

When I create a Windows Homegroup on one machine, an invite to join is never extended to the other.
I installed TeamViewer as alternative to Homegroup.  After setup, the program claims to have a working connection, but any attempt to access the other gives an error.
Now, the name of my laptop will sometimes appear under Explorer>>Network, but clicking on it gives an error message (can't think what it says & the laptop isn't visible right now); while my laptop has never shown my desktop.  However, if I hardline my laptop to the router, suddenly the two are best friends - connecting, accessing folders, swapping files, trading recipes, sharing steamy cups of Maxwellhouse International Cafe.
Does anybody have any insights into this situation?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I’ve wondered if perhaps there was some pre-installed Lenovo software that interferes with networks the way firewalls or anti-virus programs can?  I've tried calling both Belkin and Lenovo tech support - played their little choose your own adventure games.  Belkin's final word is that its a software issue.  I'm at a complete loss.
I'm always asked for ipconfig and ping results at some point, so I'll go ahead and post them below.  I've also found some errors in Administrative Events on both machines that may provide clues:
Dhcp-Client (both)   -   The IP address lease 192.168.2.2 for the Network Card with network address 0x6CF049E337F0 has been denied by the DHCP server 192.168.2.1 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message).
bowser (desktop)   -   The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer GLADOS that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{4F23028C-E9A3-47B6-94A5-025192E2DBE0}. The master browser is stopping or an election is being forced.
BROWSER (laptop)   -   The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport ....  The backup browser is stopping
I don't really know much about Windows services and events, but they sound like they could be related, and they're the only lead I have to work right now.

Just throwing this out there: I had a cash register which bafflingly refused to talk to other systems on the network, except for just a few minutes after it booted. The problem was cured by unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the Power Management tab of the Realtek ethernet card Device Manager Properties.

  • Cannot join time capsule airport network from iPad 2 or iPhone 4

I have recently setup a new time capsule airport base station network with my new iMac (27-inch, late 2012) running OSX 10.8.2. Wi-Fe network works fine for internet access and printing from the iMac but I cannot join the wi-fi network from our iPad 2 or iphones. The network is seen in the wi-fi setup when wi-fi is turned on with the ipad and phone but does not establish a connection. An IP address and subnet mask show under the DHCP settings but the connection is not established. (Continuous revolving wheel).
    Any help would be appreciated.

The airport utility in Mountain Lion is a toyland version.. see bottom of post for installing v5.6 which improves the ability to actually make the TC do what you want.
For whatever reason the iphone/ipad seem sensitive to wireless channels.. which Apple auto rotate.. I think it is bluetooth connection stuff.
Anyhow jump in and set the following.
Wireless should have strictly SMB names.. short no spaces, pure alphanumeric.
    Use WPA2 Personal security.
Lock the wireless channel for 2.4ghz.. try in the following order.. 11, 6, 1 (those are the only non-overlapping channels) you can try in turn for which is best but if 11 works well stick to it.. Outside USA you can also use 13.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.
