JOptionPane desn't update the locale settings.

Hi, when I use Locale.setDefault the JOptionPane still uses the system defaults for OK, Cancel and so on.
What is wrong?
Any help is welcome.

The default button options for JOptionPanes are all hardcoded, as are many other little bits of text like tool tips for default components (window close/maximize/minimize buttons etc) in Swing. You need to set the text for these components manually using the UIManager, it's slow and ugly but AFAIK it's the only way to do it. So if you wanted to change the "Yes" button, to "Oui" (French locale) then you could do this...
UIManager.put("OptionPane.yesButtonText", "Oui"); The UIManager keys you need are sadly not (to my knowledge) documented anywhere, which means you have to rely on people here having found them already, or trauling through the source code for the component in question trying to find them yourself.

Dan - I am having the same exact problem. I'm using the restrict access and user registration and login - when attempting to use the Update Record wizard to allow users to change their password or email address, it doesn't change the record.

ITunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone

When I try to download and install the new carrier settings file, I get the message "iTunes could not update the carrier settings on your iPhone. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation." (I got a similar message when I tried to download and install the OS update.)
I've been able to work around the problem by creating a different user and installing from there. But I'd like to be able to find and correct the cause of the error message instead of using a workaround. It seems like there's a file or folder somewhere that has somehow become read-only. Does anyone know where iTunes downloads the carrier settings and OS update files?

Right after I posted the message I thought that the age-old placebo of repairing permissions might actually fix my problem. Because of your quick reply I found the ownership problem before repairing permissions. So here was the perfect chance for a test. Repair Permissions ran successfully but the owner of ~/Library/iTunes was still root. Repair Permissions fails the test.
I manually changed the owner to steve and was able to download and install the carrier settings.

How to download the Solaris 11.2 latest SRU in order to update the local repo offline

These are actually in zipped archive format rather than ISO. You will probably want the install guide patch that includes the script that will help apply the incremental SRU repo on top of an existing local repository:

Change the Locale settings when scheduling the report with an Excel format?

Hi,
My reports have been scheduled with Excel format, however, when the report is viewed in Excel, the date fields are in the format "mm/dd/yyyy" i.e. English(United States) and they need to be in the format "dd/mm/yyyy" i.e. English (Ireland).
I am wondering if there is any way to change the Locale settings within Business Objects?
For the time being users have been advised to manually change the format within excel, however, this is not the preferred option.
Any ideas?

The cell format is set as "Date dd/mm/yyyy" but it still runs as an Excel doc with the format mm/dd/yyyy.
When I schedule the report to run as a Web Intelligence document and then manually export it to Excel, the Date format is correct i.e. dd/mm/yyyy.
Any more ideas?

The JUNavigationBar don't works whit the locale settings (9.0.2)

I have a problem with JUNavigationBar, it ignores the locale settings. The application module configuration is set with "es" & "ES" locale properties. I check the locale when the app runs with:
Locale.getDefault();
app.getApplicationModule().getSession().getLocale(); app.getApplicationModule().getSession().getLocaleContext().getLocale();
and they are right ("es", "ES").
How can I get that JUNavigationBar uses the UIMessageBundle_es_ES which is deployed with the jar file?

1. Before first line at the main method :

2. Locale properties in the Application module configuration

JNavigationBar , it ignores again the locale settings.
JNavigationBar doesn't use the UIMessageBundle_it.

StraightTalk is not a supported carrier.
Contact them for support.
FYI, unless the device is officially unlocked from AT&T, you will not be able to use it on another carrier.

Why can't I see the Global Settings Manager - only the Local Settings Manager

I've had an issue with Facebook content for months following an upgrade several versions ago - can't see my own uploaded videos or certain other content although some you tube embedded stuff is starting to work since the last upgrade.
I've tried deleting various bits such as
%appdata%\Adobe
%appdata%\Macromedia
But no joy.
I wanted to see if anything on the global settings manager might have something to do with it but I get a blank where the various manager function screens should appear.
Any suggestions on how I can see MPG/MPEG/VID content, why my own uploaded stuff doesn't play and why I can't see the global settings manager bits and pieces.

Hi Chris - yep - for the first time, using chrome, I could see the settings manager.
Now is there anything there that might prevent my seeing my own uploaded videos on Fb - I can see some but not all youtube stuff but other embeds aren't working... original file format compatibility perhaps?

This error is typically indicative of a conflict with installed security software.
Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.

This might be related to a change in Flash Player 11.2 with multi threaded video decoding. Two things I'd recommend trying, first give our 11.4 beta release a try and let us know if it resolves the problem. If it does not, I'd recommend installing the latest 10.3 release and seeing it reproduces there.

When I download a jpg picture to Photoshop Elements Editor the file is stored in Documents & Settings/My Name/Local Settings/Temp but I cannot find this location on my computer.

The pictures are attached to e-mail messages. I can get as far as Documents and Settings and my name but there is no Local Settings folder shown. Using MS search with the name of the file gives nothing. I use Windows XP and Mozilla Firefox. The file appears in Photoshop Elements and I can save it as a psd file but I cannot find either the jpg or the psd files to move them into My Pictures.

The Local Settings folder is a hidden folder.
(1) If the file appears in the Downloads manager (Tools menu or Ctrl+j), you can right-click it and use Open Containing Folder to get directly to it.
(2) To be able to see hidden folders on Windows XP in general, try this:
Open My Computer or Windows Explorer
Tools > Folder Options > View tab
Scroll down and look for the checkbox regarding hidden files and folders and unhide them.
Hopefully this will resolve the issue. Any luck?
(3) By the way, you may be able to save the images from the email message to a more convenient location by right-clicking the links and using Save Link As. (Before you open them for editing.)

HT201270 IPad 1 repeated crashes: Will an update to carrier settings reduce the number of crashes and make my ipad 1 useable again?

Since updating to iOs 5.1, my iPad 1 crashes so often it is unuseable. It normally crashes when using Chrome or Safari - but also on other programs such as MotionX GPS. I've just "restored" it using itumes - and on the way out was invited to update the carrier settings. It has an old sim card in it - which I no longer use since my iphone can run as a mobile hotspot. So the question is - will updating the carrier settings help - or does anyone know some other majic that might work?

Carrier settings updates are small files that can include updates from Apple and your carrier to carrier-related settings, such as network, calling, cellular data, messaging, personal hotspot, and voicemail settings. You may receive notifications from time to time to install new carrier-settings updates.
Does your iPad crash for all apps and use or just specific things?
If it only crashes on specific apps make sure the apps are updated if they are not already.
Also you may need to look into doing a back up and restore to factory settings.

How does the local copy of the universes work?

We are using BO 6.5.1.Normally the local copy of the used universes will be updated from the repository when we open BO documents and select universes. However, recently we found that this "update" sometimes failed and cause an message windows full of garbage messages. We have to delete the universe we used under "C:\Documents and Settings\53170\Application Data\Business Objects\Business Objects 6.0\universes" and, then, the "update" resumes.
Please provide me with the knowledge about how the local copy of universes updates? And, how to avoid the above problem? Thank you!

Following information might help you to resolve the issue.
Whenever you alter and export the universe to the repository, Business Objects does not automatically update the local copies of the universes on each machine.
Only when the users access to the same (altered) universe next time or makes a report from that universe from there local machine, then Business Objects first compares the altered universe with that of old universe (local copy) stored in the machine, only then Business Objects imports the altered universe in the useru2019s machine or replaces the old copy with the altered one.
Solution:
In BusinessObjects, click on Tools > Options > General tab. Place a check in the box to 'Automatically import universes'.
End users will now import the updated copy of the universe whenever they open the report.
