JRE 6u2 breaks 6u1 files

I have a program that uses an ObjectOutputStream to write some files,
I was previously using 6u1, when I updated to 6u2 my program fails to load the files outputted by 6u1.
Any newly created files using 6u2 work fine though, it just cannot read 6u1 created files. I am afraid if I just start over it might happen again with 6u3 or java7?
Can someone shed some light on how to resolve this. I am currently considering disabling automatic updates to allow the older files to keep working.

Can someone shed some light on how to resolve thisYour telling us what the error/reason was would probably be a start.

    Hi,
    Please refer to the following article :

    Cause:
    This issue may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
    The connection to the  server requires a certification authority (CA).
    You have not trusted the certification authority at the root.
    The certificate may be invalid or revoked.
    The certificate does not match the name of the site.
    A third-party add-in is preventing access.
    Solution:
    To examine the certificate, follow these steps:
    In Microsoft Internet Explorer, connect to the RPC server or to the secure server. For example, type
    https://www.<var>server_name</var>.com/rpc in the Address bar of the Web browser, and then press ENTER.
    Note The <var>server_name</var> placeholder references the RPC server name or the secure server name.
    Double-click the padlock icon that is located in the lower-right corner of the Web browser.
    Click the Details tab.
    Note the information in the following fields:
    Valid to
    The Valid to field indicates the date until which  the certificate is valid.
    Subject
    The data in the  Subject field should match the site name.

  • How to specify a JRE range in jnlp file?

    We have a java app which uses Java Web Start. The jnlp file is configured with [j2se version="1.5+"]. So if JRE 1.5 and 1.6 are installed, the app is run on 1.6.
    Now, we have requirement where the app should be restricted to run only within the range - JRE 1.5.0_07 through JRE 1.5.0_17
    [j2se version="1.5*"] will not work - it will always launch the app with the latest jre from 1.5 family.
    I can request an exact product version by including the href attribute. [j2se version="1.5.0_14" href="http://java.sun.com/products/autodl/j2se"/]
    But how do I specify a specific range of JREs in the jnlp file so that JWS picks up a JRE from that range only? So if 1.5.0_07, 1.5.0_17 and JRE 6 are installed, it should run the app on 1.5.0_17.
    Can JNLP really allow you to select specific range of JREs? Is there a good way to accomplish this? Please help.

    *4.6 Java Runtime Environment*
    Several JREs can be specified, which indicates a prioritized list of the supported JREs, with the most preferred version first. For example,
        <java version="1.3" initial-heap-size="64m"/>
        <java version="1.2">
          <resources> ... </resources>
        </java>So your app. would need more along the lines of..
        <java version="1.5.0_07 1.5.0_08 1.5.0_09 1.5.0_10 1.5.0_11 1.5.0_12 1.5.0_07 1.5.0_13 1.5.0_14 1.5.0_15 1.5.0_16 1.5.0_17 " />
        <java version="1.6+" />Actually you'd need the list of 1.5 versions reversed. Well, you get the idea hopefully. For more on versioning, see my [JWS versioning page|http://pscode.org/jws/version.html].

    I have made sure my browser is Java activated that that all issues in the FAQ are done. Is something else missing in my registry.

  • Topology Services Applet error: "No JRE found in configuration file."

    Is there an issue with IE7 and opening up Topology Services? Or can someone guide me in fixing this error message?
    I'm using LMS 3.1 and had uninstalled all of my Java versions and installed jre-6u5-windows-i586-p_withjacorb.exe on my client. However, when I clicked the Topology Services link I would get the Java splash window for a bit and then nothing happened (the next two applet windows wouldn't load).
    When I tried to launch Topology Services from another box using IE6, everything worked fine. I tried the same steps above on another box with IE 7 and that worked fine too.
    So I tried a few installs and uninstalls of different Java versions and found that if the version was other than 6_5, I'd get the Java splash screen with the first applet window telling me I had the wrong version. When I'd uninstall all Java versions again, reboot, then install the correct Java version, I wouldn't get anything past the first Java splash screen. After a few attempts at this, I now receive the following error when I click on Topology Services, "Bad installation. No JRE found in configuration file."
    How can I get to this configuration file on my client to let it know that I do indeed have the right version of Java on my box?
    --Jeff

    Campus 5.1 works just fine with IE 7.0 and JRE 1.6.0_5. It sounds like this particular client may be in bad shape. Typically, I recommend one uninstall all versions of Java from a client, reboot, then install the one version that comes with LMS. I also recommend that for IE, one adds the LMS server as a Trusted Site in IE. You might also try disabling anti-virus software temporarily to see if that helps.
    For Campus 5.1, you will also need to open TCP ports 42342 and 43242 from client to server.
    It may be that this client is in such bad shape that it will need to be rebuilt to get Java working correctly.

  • New Apple Java update breaks jnlp file association

    I thought this might be helpful for other people experiencing this problem.
    It seems that the latest Java update for Macs (10.5 update 4) breaks the file association for jnlp files. When you use one it opens up a text editor. To make matters worse they have moved the location of Web Start.
    The only way we have been able to fix this is:
    1. Control-click the jnlp file that was downloaded to the desktop and select “Get Info”
    2. Click “Open with” and select “Other…”.
    3. At the top of the window select “All Applications” in the Enable box.
    4. Browse to /System/Library/CoreServices and select Java Web Start.
    5. Click the “Always Open With” checkbox at the bottom.
    6. Click the “Add” button.
    7. Double-click the jnlp file on the desktop which should now launch the workbook.
    If anyone else has some more information or another solution, then please reply here.

    Thank you so much for this. I didn't find this post the first time I searched on this problem, and I was mired down in versions-specific directories with javaws--which appears only as a link that cannot be used as an association.
    MUCH appreciated!

  • Using packages breaks batch file

    Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me here.
    I've been continuing work on somebody else's previous project, and everything is fine except for the batch file used to run the program from non development. I decided to use Eclipse to develop as opposed to the previous JCreator, and Eclipse gave an error unless I used packages, however this breaks the batch file
    Here's the orginal text from the batch file -
    java.exe -Xmx256m -classpath C:\InsTra\JARS\ant.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\jaxen-core.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\jaxen-jdom.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\jdom.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\saxpath.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\xalan.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\xerces.jar;C:\InsTra\JARS\xml-apis.jar;c:\InsTra\code_files InsTra
    The batch file is located in C:\InsTra, the external JARS are in a JARS subfolder, and the java and class files are in Code_files. The main class is InsTra. I get the error NoClassDefFoundError
    I've tried making the last bit Code_files.InsTra in case it needed to reference the package, but I'm new to this I'm afraid so have little experience of this sort of thing.
    Any help is welcome
    Thanks
    Daniel

    Then either your compiled class is not on the classpath, or you have not used the correct class name. Or both.
    The classpath must point to the root of the package hierarchy.
    The class name must include the package name (which is dictated by the package line at the top of your source file).
    The compiled class file must be in the correct directory.
    Given the information that you have provided, your class file should have the following path:
    c:\InsTra\code_files\Code_files\It should also have the following line at the top of the .java file:
    pacakge Code_files;Class names are case sensitive. Remember that the class path points to the root of the package hierarchy, NOT each of the directories containing class files. For example, if your classpath is thus:
    c:\fooYour class file is in:
    c:\foo\foo\Spong.classWith a package of:
    package foo;And you execute it with:
    java -classpath c:\foo foo.SpongThen it will work. The following will not:
    java -classpath c:\ foo.Spong
    java -classpath c:\foo\foo Spong
    java -classpath c:\foo\foo foo.Spong
    java -classpath c:\foo\foo Spong.class
    etc.

  • How do I break music files into smaller pieces to save battery life?

    Apple claims that ipod battery life is improved if music files are less than 9mb for some reason that involves having to load music into the cache more often. Most of my music files are much larger than 9mb and I would like to break up the files into smaller pieces. How can I do this using itunes? Or do I need to use another program?

    Most likely the reason your songs are over 9 MB are because they were recorded or "Ripped" In a high bit rate. The bit rate is basicly how many bits per second are played. the higher the bit rate the better the sound is in most cases. in MP3's 128kbs is CD qualidy and is the average, theres also 160kbs and 192kbs. anything above 192 most humans can't tell the difference. theres 2 things u can do, if you have the music on CD u can take the time to rip them again at a lower bit rate MP3 in iTunes or you can have iTunes convert all your songs into the AAC format. If you convert them to AAC tho, you will only be able to play them on your iPod and iTunes only.
    You may be able to find free software that will convert all your mp3s to a lower bit rate or compact them more but there are other things you can do to extend your battery. Make sure your iPods EQ setting is off, shorted the amount of time the backlight is on in the iPod settings, lower the volume while playing ur iPod will save the battery. Another thing is to make a good playlist of all the songs u like, so your not constantly switching to other songs. every time u switch songs the iPod has to spin the harddrive inside it and thats a big power drain on the battery.

  • Embed the JRE while creating exe file

    I am using jar2exe software to create the exe file from the jar file. The exe is created successfully using this software. However it requires the JRE should be present on the machine where we are going to install the software.
    Is there any body who knows how to embed the JRE while creating the exe so that there should not be any need to have the JRE on the machine?
    Is there any other approach by which we can create the exe file from the jar and JRE should be there in the exe file?
    Thank you.

    All jar2exe does is use a JNI (C to java) wrapper around your call. That means a VM is still required.
    The Sun VM at least requires a number of shared libraries and jar files to run. The shared libraries must either be in the file system or already loaded into the application.
    You could put those as a resource into the shared library but you would then need to figure out, via OS calls (not java) how to load them.
    Is there any other approach by which we can create the exe file from the jar and JRE should be there in the exe file?Options
    1. Find another tool besides jar2exe
    2. Install the VM - it need only be in the exe directory.
    3. Forget the exe idea and just use java.
    4. Figure out, which might be impossible, how to load the shared libraries and jars as resources from the exe. Again this is NOT something you can do in java.

  • Photoshop 13.0.1 breaks mxi files API

    This worked in CS6 13.0.0, and is only showing up after updating to 13.0.1.
    Our MXI file has the following files that are bundled with the plugin.
    <files>
        <file destination="" file-type="CSXS" products="" source="Dashboard.zxp"/>
        <file destination="$presetsfolder/Actions/Kubota set-up Actions 2.atn" products="Photoshop,Photoshop32,Photoshop64" source="bundled/Presets/Actions/Kubota set-up Actions 2.atn"/>
        <file destination="$presetsfolder/Scripts/Activate Kubota Dashboard.jsx" products="Photoshop,Photoshop32,Photoshop64" source="bundled/Presets/Scripts/Activate Kubota Dashboard.jsx"/>
    </files>
    When installing our plugin after updating to 13.0.1 we get the following error.
    Can't create folder 'Drive:Applications:Adobe Photoshop CS6:Presets:Actions:Kubota set-up Actions 2.atn'.  After hitting OK the installation rollsback and prevents the installation from occuring.

    It turns out this issue was specific to Apple OS X Mountain Lion.
    However, we figured out how to work around this.
    Instead of using $presetsfolder/Actions and $presetsfolder/Scripts, we use the $actions and $scripts tokens instead.  Not sure why this would break with a dot update, but there it is.

  • WDS on server 2008 std breaking .WIM files

    Hi,
    SUMMARY - 'Importing images into WDS seems to break them'
    I'm a bit green so i appologise if I'm being stupid. I'm installing and configuring WDS and MDT deployment within a mixed MS 2003 domain environment. We need to be able to deploy 32 bit images and the server will be used for servicing images as well
    as deploying and so (I think) I need to use Server 2008 standard as creating catalogue files on x64 systems for x86 images doesn't work.
    So - the system is:
    Server 2008 standard x86 edition; WDS Deployment Services Role; MDT 2012 Update 1; ADK 8, config manager tools for trace32.exe.
    I have imported win7 boot and install images directly from the original DVD .iso files, both x86 and x64. Both capture and setup images work ok. I've added network drivers to these successfully. I can deploy vanilla win7 x86 and x64 using WDS - this works
    fine.
    So my issue is: I've deployed vanilla windows 7 to a desktop, installed applications, updated config as nessecary etc. Booted using the appropriate capture image and captured a .wim file. I've copied this to my WDS server and imported it as an install
    image. When I try and deploy the image it fails just after the 'expanding windows files' stage. After looking in log files the error seems to be 'selected image file does not have a resource section'.
    I've gone back to the WDS server, exported these image files and tried to mount them using DISM - I get the same error: "1812 The specified image file did not contain a resource section"
    Mounting fails.
    Now I've tried mounting the .wim files using dism BEFORE I import them into WDS and they mount without any issues. As soon as I import them and export them again they will not mount any more.
    Please help, I don't know what else to try! :)
    Some things I've thought but can't find answers to: Can you use 2008 standard to deploy Windows 7 at all? (server is earlier version of windows)
    Is the apparent importing into WDS issue a red herring? Could it be that these images are broken from capture? Is there a way to test this without deploying the image using a USB stick instead of WDS?
    I've tried uninstalling the ADK and installing WAIK instead. Exactly the same result. Here are some choice extracts from dism.log:

    Hello JPNhingy,
    How to do you capture the .wim file?
    About the question: Can you use 2008 standard to deploy Windows 7 at all? The answer is: Yes, you can use the Windows Server 2008 to deploy Windows 7.
    You could create a capturer image in WDS, for more information, please take a look at the following article.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/11680.creating-a-capture-image-in-wds.aspx
    Additionally, you could use the sysprep to generalize the install image.

    It looks like not all functions of liveconnect (JavaScript invokes Applet) work anymore. You can see that on the following Oracle Page, the demo is supposed to output a response which is produced by the JRE. This response worked in u17 but does not anymore in u21 (and it also breaks my business application by this).

    For the demo page it looks like myapplet.Package..... does not work anymore. What else is not working?
    (The Demo page is not https protected, in the case of my business application however, it is a https page).

    Hello,
    I saw some lines in the release sheet of Java7u21:
    Area: deploy/plugin
    Synopsis: Per-Applet/Global Packages, Java and netscape Keyword support removed
    Starting in 7u21, the support for calling from JavaScript to Java via global java, netscape and Packages JavaScript keyword for Firefox/Chrome, and also the per-applet Packages keyword for IE, are all removed.
    Please, can you confirm that the support of the "myApplet.Packages" key word has been removed ? There is no longer a way to call a public method outside of the Applet class ?

  • How to break the file and send it to 2 different formats??

    Hi PI Experts,
        My scenario is i have a file with multiple records on the sender side and i have 1 receiver business system and have to  receive the data in 2 formats, one is in JDBC and other in xml format. my condition is if field is equal to 'ECC' then the data should be send to JDBC and if element is not equal to 'ECC' then data should be send to xml format.
    for example, if a file has 2 records('ECC & ECC1) then 'ECC' record has to be stored in JDBC and 'ECC1' record should be send to xml format.
    tell me what to do in the mapping side. hope u guys understood my problem.
    if possible send me screenshots of the mapping.

    HI Srini,
    Just use two different message types in ur mapping!!!
    Write the condition if (A = ECC ){Map to Structure A}
                                  else if (A = ECC1){Map to Structure B}
    Once you are generating all the required ECCs in Message Type A and then All ECC1s in Message Type B,
    It is just configuration stuff where you will have common sender Agreement, receiver determination and also interface determination but the only thing that will separate these two is your receiver agreement.
    You have to use two service interfaces for this, one for Structure A and another for Structure B.
    I have done similar stuff  2 yrs back!!!
    Please let me know if you require anything on this.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Break .mov file into multiple jpeg files

    Hello all,
    I've already put together a program that jams multiple jpegs into a .mov file, but is it possible to do the same thing in reverse?
    I have a .mov file captured from a camera. I need to decompose it into a ton of jpegs.
    the purpose is that I have a real-world video file of an event occuring. I have a computer simulation of the same event. I want to overlay the two into a single video.
    My basic plan was to decompose the real-world .mov file into jpegs, then take each individual jpeg and draw my simulation stuff on top of it. Then I would combine it all back together into a movie again.
    Another possibility...somehow use processors? I'm not sure how to do all that and I think this solution is simpler if I can somehow figure out how to split the file.
    Thanks for you input.

    I'm just very impressed, is all.About a year ago, I thought up the idea of creating a web site where musicians / music fans could go, create a chatroom, and pay music for people live over the net. Through the course of research, I found out that the only 2 ways of doing an application like that were JMF or Adobe Flex/Flash... Seeing as how I'm a Java coder by profession (and hate Flash applications), the choice of which to go with was easy...
    And then I realized that JMF is, on the surface, quite complicated and while these Sun forums are full of experts on just about everything else, there weren't really any JMF experts. So I sat down, went through the JMF example code peice by peice, wrote out the components, figured out what each one did, and I wrote my application from scratch. I wanted to make sure I understood my app, of course, and wasn't just throwing out something "that worked" because, well, all those years of college told me that's a bad plan.
    Anyway, I figured out the nuts and bolts of my project, and then just started trying to answer the questions on this forum that were going unanswered...and that's how I become so knowledgable, because with something like JMF, whenever you work with someone, a lot of times you learn nearly as much as they do.
    Plus, I most just like helping people and JMF had a giant opening for a resident expert...
