[JS- CS3] Before Export Set pdfExportPresets

I am having trouble setting the pdfExportPreset with a script I am using to do things before the Export Dialog box shows up.
I can set the pdfExportPreferences.pageRange with no problem. But can't get the pdfExportPresets to work.
Var myPreSet = app.pdfExportPresets.item("PDF Preset1");
with(app.pdfExportPresets){
name = myPreSet.name;

Hi David,
To make sure that your script always uses a certain PDF preset you can do it like so:
//Your PDF Export Preset is the name of your PDF preset as you see it in the user interface.
if (app.pdfExportPresets.item("Your PDF Export Preset") != null){
   myDocument.exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, myFile, false, "Your PDF Export Preset");
else {
   alert("Your PDF Export Preset is not installed");
   exit();
If you want to set the name of a preset as default in a dialog, you can do it like in this example:
myDoc = app.activeDocument;
fileNameWOExt = myDoc.name.split(".indd").join("");
var myPDFExportPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item("Your PDF Export Preset");
var myPresetIndex = myPDFExportPreset.index;
pdfPresetDialog = app.dialogs.add();
with (pdfPresetDialog.dialogColumns.add()) {
  with (dialogRows.add()) {
    with (dialogColumns.add()) {
      staticTexts.add({staticLabel: "Choose PDF-export preset:"});
      with (dialogRows.add()) {
        pdfDD = dropdowns.add();
        sl = new Array();
        for (i=0; i < app.pdfExportPresets.length; i++)
          sl.push(app.pdfExportPresets[i].name);
          pdfDD.stringList = sl;
          pdfDD.selectedIndex = myPresetIndex;
    dialogColumns.add().staticTexts.add({staticLabel: " ", minWidth: 15});
    with (dialogColumns.add()) {
      dialogRows.add().staticTexts.add({staticLabel: "Name your file:"});
      pdfFileName = dialogRows.add().textEditboxes.add({editContents:fileNameWOExt + ".pdf", minWidth: 100});
    dialogColumns.add().staticTexts.add({staticLabel: " ", minWidth: 15});
pdfPresetDialog.show();

  • Set Field as text before exporting to excel

    HELLO GURUS,
    i have a program which exports material numbers and other relevant data from sap tables to excel sheet.
    certain material numbers contain text 'E' in between the material number (Eg. 17700E0056). When such data is exported to excel, Excel treats these as exponential numbers and converts them to scientific notation (1.77E+60).
    How do I export the data as it is?
    Is there a way that i can convert it to text format before exporting it to excel..?

    Hi,
    try moving the values to a CHAR field before download to Excel
    or
    when building your field catalog , specify the field length same as of that fields data element.
    eg. your material number is of char 10.
    so set yout outputlen eq 10.
    g_flcat-outputlen = '10'.
    this works.
    Thanks & regards.

  • CS3 H264 Export Issues

    I have got an Issue with exported videos through Premiere Pro CS3. I know I am using an old version but I felt no need to upgrade.
    I am facing an issue I haven't faced before. I am exporting a video (no footage, just one music track with still images with fades and effects); when I play the video back in all media players, I get strange play back issues. The preview before export plays fine, so it is definitely after the export. The first time I exported the video, it would play find up until a certain point, the video would seem to freeze but the audio contiunes. When I skip through the video, the sync issues become worse. I though if I just played through the who video with no skipping, maybe it would be fine. But it would always freeze at a certain point. I thn exported the video again, this time it was 1080p. I had the same issue but not it was even worse. The video would freeze much earlier in the video. I though possibly I was having issues with playback on my computer, if I uploaded the video to youtube, it would playback properly. There are still issues with playback on youtube, the first 3 minutes seem to be cut off, and at the end of the video, the video would finish, but there would be another 3 or 4 minutes left to allow the music track to end. I am getting audio sync problems but not in the tradition sense, where maybe they are playing at different speeds. The problems seem to be much more complex and the video just freezes at certain point. It;s all very confusing and hard to explain, and I have found no help. I am thinking maybe it's codec problems, but this is the first I have encountered it.
    Premiere Export Settings:
    Both video's are MP4 exported with H264 codec

    The timeline wasn't pre rendered, but I have never done that and never faced problems before.
    Here's the uploaded youtube video of the first export:
    Leeds Reunion 2015 Mix - YouTube
    As you can see, the tracks do not match up with the songs, if you skip to 41:06, the video starts it's outtro, but there is about 4 minutes left to allow the audio track to finish.

    For the jerkiness go to your preferences and change the live draw to delayed, or if that doesn't help, maybe never.  The place to go is Edit > Preferences > General.
    When you try to past from CS3 to CS5 do you have both open in CS5?  Might sound a dumb question but if you have one open in CS3 and one in CS5 it isn't going to work, so even if you have a document you want to keep in CS3 for the purposes of copying just open it in CS5, it wil convert to a CS5 document and you will be able to copy and paste between them.
    One last tip, when converting docs to CS5 from CS3, particularly larger ones, there have been quite a few reports of instability, sometimes leading to corruption, but mind you we only see the problems on this forum.  To prevent this happening the best route is to export from CS3 to inx format and open that in CS5.  YOu can do that automatically with whole folders (and sub-folders) of files with the batch convertor script that is my latest favourite, it is made by Peter Kahrel and is free, you'll find it here.  With that you can use it in CS3 to convert a whole batch to inx, then use it in CS5 to convert those inx files to CS5 indd.  Super handy, really fast, and great for mass exports too.

  • Another Bug in Photoshop CS3 or a setting Im missing?

    Another Bug in CS3 or a setting Im missing?
    This time in Photoshop.
    If I add a solid colour fill layer and pick a Pantone colour from the Colour Libraries I fill it with a Pantone colour and then save the document. When I re-open the document the Pantone Fill layer reverts back to a CMYK setting when I double click on the layer.
    I ran a test on CS2 and this definitely doesnt happen in CS2 so why in CS3?
    Its a massive problem and in my eyes makes Photoshop CS3 unusable in a professional environment.
    Please tell me its a new setting i'm missing and not a bug.

    No I don't want to use channels. I want to use a 'Solid Fill Colour' layer. If you click on the little icon at the bottom of the layers palette you get a little menu and at the top of that menu you can select 'Solid Colour'. Then you can select the 'Colour Libraries' tab and apply a Pantone Colour as a Solid Fill layer.
    Photoshop definitely DOES support this method because we have been using it here for the last few years, its quite standard practice to work like this before going into channel work or DCS work.
    It means you can double click a layer to reveal its intended Pantone colour rather than cmyk match.
    As I say it works fine in CS2.
    Well it seems its another bug in a very poor update. I just hope CS4 doesn't have the same problems.

  • Pre-activities in source system before export

    Hello  Experts,
    Please share reason why following activities needs to be done before export:-
    1) No switching of operating modes takes place while a system is being copied
    2)  No upgrade-prepare is performed
    3) No incremental conversion is in progress
    4) No canceled or pending update requests should be in the system.
    Thanks
    S.BASIS

    Hi
    Refer below for details;
    When operation modes are switched (based on the definition from its time table), the work processes (WP) are redistributed in the active instance.
    This means, when WP used as a dialog process (DIA), it can be switched for use as a background process  (BGD) or vice-versa, i.e. depends on the WP type defined in Operation mode.
    While switching Ops Mode, WP may not be switched immediately instead WP is set to be switched when next possible ( if WP is busy in its current status, with either DIA or BGD) but this switch is more risk and or possible to get into error mode while system (means, WP) is busy with its export or upgrade activity. So SAP advise to deactivate Ops. Mode switch.

  • DPI export setting - no difference seen?

    Hi,
    I'm preparing a number of images for print at 40x30. I'd used the TIFF 16-Bit Original Size preset before realizing the default DPI setting was 72.
    I duplicated the export setting and then changed it to 200 dpi, and re-exported the image. It's now reporting in Preview as 200 dpi, but the file size is identical to the 72 dpi version.
    I'm probably fundamentally misunderstanding something basic here, but isn't the idea that the 200 dpi version should have more information in it than the 72 dpi version, and should be substantially bigger?
    If so, given it's exporting at "original size" and 200 dpi, shouldn't it be bigger? Or what am I doing wrong in the export?
    Thanks,
    Geoff

    Geoffn,
    Simply, the higher DPI, the more information in +one inch square+, not in the entire image.
    Let's say you have a 2000x3000 px image. That's the amount of particles (pixels) you have. In 72 dpi, you will put small quantity of particles in one inch square. Since you have so many particles, you will be able make many squares which will make up the whole image eventually, meaning the image size becomes larger but less vivid.
    in 300 dpi, you are putting much more particles in one inch square. Now, you aren't making as many squares because you're putting a lot more in only one square. Thus, the images size becomes smaller but more vivid.
    Either way, you are using the same amount of particles; thus, the size of the file remains same. However, depends on how many of them you are allocating in one inch square, the quality and the size of the image varies.

  • Using Premiere Pro CS3 When exporting as flash file poor picture quality

    I'm using Premiere Pro CS3. I shoot green screen in HDV and work in 1440 x 1080. I have been capturing files in Premiere and sending them to Serious Magic Ulta 2. I use this program for keying and adding virtual backgrounds. I save these files as avi. with a resolution of 1440 X 1080. I then bring them back into Premiere Pro for final edit. When I export these video's encoded as mpeg2 theyplay very clear. I am now trying to export as flv. with alpha channel background and the resolution is poor. I working on the transparent background with walk on spokespersons that overlay the HTML page. When In try to play them on my computer the adobe media player is what comes up. I have downloaded flash player but it doesn't select it to play the video. I'm running windows Vista Business platform. What am I doing wrong.

    Thanks for the reply.
    The capture and editing have already been done in 1440 X 1080. Should I use this resolution rather than trying to bump it up to 1920 X 1080.
    Thanks

    Computer playback generally prefers square pixels.  Make sure to set your output resolution to 1920 x 1080 using a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 1.0 or Square.
    See if that helps.

  • Can I make 1080i into progressive before exporting to DVD?

    This excellent post explains how my HV20 1080i60 footage can be made progressive by using the ProRes setting:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306389
    However, doing this sextuples the file sizes, and I have 50GB of footage on this project and needed it all on my MacBook, so it was a no-go.
    Is there a way to apply this ProRes now that I have my project edited in timeline (4 minutes) before exporting to DVD? Or could I somehow use the ProRes setting itself (rather than one of the DVD export settings) to export the project to burn on a DVD in DVD Studio Pro?
    Or is applying a Deinterlace filter going to do the same?
    I would keep the framerate at 29.97, as it is destined for broadcast.
    Thank you,
    MaW

    Thank you very much for superfast replies.
    You are right about the broadcast, I just checked the Viacom submission specs, and for HD it says “MTVN requires delivery of 1080i (16 x 9) aspect ratio program material, at 29.97 frames per second (59.94 fields/sec) for broadcast.”
    It would be quite silly to go from i to p to i.
    I just wanted to do everything I could to make it look less sharp and videoey (being a $1,000 CMOS camera...)
    I am now trying to add some grain with the CGM plug-in...
    Very interesting about the Deinterlace Filter vs. Frame Controls.
    Which one of the four should I select?
    (Fast (line averaging), Better (motion adaptive) Best (motion compensated) and Reverse Telecine)
    I would want the best possible result, of course.
    Also, should I leave the ‘adaptive details’ box checked?
    For future reference, if I wanted to export 1080i timeline and make it progressive, could I still follow the article instructions and select Reverse Telecine (I’d probably keep the framerate at 30)?
    This would seem so much easier than having to do the pulldown on ALL your footage before starting to edit...
    Thank you
    MaW

  • Any way to determine .mov size before exporting?

    Is there any way to tell how big the file size will be before exporting?

    Is there any way to tell how big the file size will be before exporting?
    If you are using one of the matrix preset options, yes. Simply hover your cursor over the "info" icon for the preset you plan to use and the last item on the displayed info line will be an estimate for the output file size. If going with the "Export Using QuickTime" option, you will have to estimate the file size manually by multiplying the combined total audio plus video data rate in KB/s or MB/s times the duration of your file in seconds.

  • Do clips need to be rendered before exporting project to video camera?

    I am in the process of exporting an Imovie project back to my video camera for storage on a tape. When I start the export process I get a message that says clips need to be rendered prior to exporting. When I click the button to render clips Imovie goes through the process of rendering the clips and after several minutes the Imovie project starts to export to the camera and runs for about 2 seconds and the Imovie quits.
    Imovie also gives the option of not rendering the clips.
    Do i need to render the clips before exporting them to my video camera?
    iMac4,1   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Intel Core Duo, 1.83 GHz

    Does the project reside on an external drive? If so, make sure the drive uses the Mac OS Extended disk format, which iMovie requires.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=4176921#4176921
    The crashes are most likely occurring because of external factors, not because of a flawed rendering routine. These can include the wrong disk format, QuickTime add-ons and obsolete iMovie plug-ins.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2920540#2920540
    Do i need to render the clips before exporting them to my video camera?
    It may depend on what type of clips they are. If they are photos imported with the Ken Burn checkbox turned OFF — which are not rendered as they are imported — iMovie will ask to render them. Do NOT allow iMovie to render the photos at this time for there's a bug that adds lots of jaggies to the images, reducing their quality.

    Hi Rob,
    From the screen shots it looks like your script is not formatted properly (you may refer to 'Paladin Script' in 'Sample Project' to get an idea of how the script should be formatted.).
    Further please follow the steps mentioned below to use Story to PP workflow.
    Create a new Film script in Adobe Story
    Create  scene heading – INT. LOCATION – Day (these will show up in the outline view panel on left hand side)
    Hit enter, hit TAB
    Enter the name of the speaker, hit TAB or ENTER
    Copy over the transcribed text
    Build your script this way
    Number scenes from the production menu
    Export ASTX file for your script : File->Export->.astx
    Open Premiere Pro
    Create a new project, bring in media
    In the project pane, find the "Scene" column
    For the clip that contains the spoken text, assign the same scene number to the clip as you have in the story script (lets say both are scene 1)
    Click out of the scene box in the project panel in Ppro
    Right click on the scene that you just assigned a scene number to and select – attach Story script
    Select the .astx fle you exported in step 8
    Click ok
    You should now see the script data in the metadata panel for the clip in the metadata panel.
    You can now run speech to text based on "Embedded Script metadata" to time align spoken word to the script.
    Let us know if this is helpful.

  • What is the best export setting from QuickTime Pro 7 for standard DVD

    I have several AVI movies I took and want to import them into iMovie, so I can create a DVD that will play in any DVD player or computer. (Along with a bunch of pictures.)
    Should I convert them with QuickTime Pro 7 (QTP7) to another format, and if so, what is the best export setting.
    I have export them using *_QuickTime 10_* and QTP7 to *MOV, MP4, & M4V* and the output is *+bad bad bad+*.
    I have tried both export and save-as. Neither has done a good job.
    The internal information of the AVI movies are: (as reported by QT)
    Format: Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions, 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz
    I have used several settings with not much luck including:
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz, MPEG-4 (Perian), 640 x 480, Millions
    MPEG-4 Video, H.264
    Should I be using a better application then QuickTime?
    Is there a way to just use iDVD with the original AVI movies?
    These are wedding movies and pictures that people are waiting for.

    Should I convert them with QuickTime Pro 7 (QTP7) to another format, and if so, what is the best export setting.
    That depends on your specific work flow and the codec(s) involved. Generally speaking, if the file plays in the QT Player and is "conversion" compatible, then the file can be added directly to iDVD (i.e., unlike iMovie '08/'09/'11 which requires the file to be "edit" compatible with QT).
    I have export them using QuickTime 10 and QTP7 to MOV, MP4, & M4V and the output is bad bad bad.
    The quality of your output file will depend on a number of things: primarily the quality of your source file, the efficiency of the target codec, and the specific settings used. (About which you did not elaborate.) The rule of thumb here is that your output will never be better than your input and each re-comprssion of the data has the potential to degrade the quality to some degree.
    I have tried both export and save-as. Neither has done a good job.
    The "Export" option re-compresses the data while the "Save As..." option only places the original data in an MOV file container. So if this output is "bad, bad, bad," then I suspect your source file(s) are not of high quality to begin with. (This seems to be confirmed by the very low audio sampling rate which implies the video data rate was probably also low to conserve file storage space.)
    The internal information of the AVI movies are: (as reported by QT)... Format: Apple OpenDML JPEG, 640 x 480, Millions, 8-bit Unsigned Integer, Mono, 11.024 kHz
    The basic codecs here appear to be both playback and conversion compatitible with QT (other than the very low sampling rate which some QT apps may not like). Thus, if your work flow is to simply burn DVDs that can be played on commercial players, the AVI could most likely be dropped to iDVD for authoring. On the other hand, if you are editing in a recent version of iMovie, then that app may not like the AVI file container. In this case, the best quality you can likely expect would be to use the "Save As..." option to place the data in an MOV file container and import to iMovie.
    Unfortunately, editing in iMovie '08/'09/'11 is done "by reference" which means your output file will be created by exporting the impoted source data to another compression format. The default would be H.264/AAC which is a highly compressed format which in turn would be re-compressed again by iDVD to multiplexed MPEG2/PCM content further reducing quality by using a less efficient video codec. My recommendation for export from iMovie in this case would be AIC/Linear PCM. (I.e., to export your edits to the Apple intermediat video codec using the original file size and frame rate with just a bit of "sharpening" and using 16-bit/48 kHz Linear PCM audio (which is what will be used to create the DVD).
    Should I be using a better application then QuickTime?
    How much are you willing to spend?
    Is there a way to just use iDVD with the original AVI movies?
    Yes. Simply create a new SD project, select your theme, drop the compatible AVI content to the appropriate "drop" area(s), add photos as desired, preview the results, and author the DVD if/when satisfied.
