JSR-75 on PalmOS - umlaut in category names

Does anyone have an suggestion how to handle categories with umlauts in the JSR-75 on PalmOS (Garnet)?
Detailed description of the problem:
I get the list of the categories defined for a PIMList (ContactList). The call to getCategories returns an array of String. Some of the entries contain an umlaut. The umlaut is correctly "converted" into the Java string object.
Now I create a new entry in the PIMList (createContact). I want to assing the newly created contact item to a category with an umlaut in it. I use the string returned by the getCategories method. The call to the method isCategory of the PIMList returns false. Why? I got the exact name of this category before with the call to getCategories.
I can create a new category with the name I get from getCategories. This category is created on the Palm. But instead of the umlaut I get a "two byte character".
I suppose that the name of the category is converted to utf-8 when calling getCategories. But there is no "backward conversion" when calling isCategory / addToCategory.
Does someone know this problem or even help me? Thanks!

The properties you mention are not defined in the JSR-75 specification so you cannot count on them being available in other devices.
Nokia is, however, specification lead of a new interesting JSR called Mobile Service Architecture for CLDC (JSR-248). If you take a look at the draft available for public review (at www.jcp.org) you can see that the properties you mention (and some others) are defined in this JSR.
Devices implementing this new JSR will likely have the properties available.

I'd like to recreate the chart below in Keynote. The chart below is an excel line chart with the lines removed. In excel I can opt to show category names instead of values for the data labels. Can I do this in Keynote?

You can select member name or alias or both in the Dimension property while creating the form.
It is in the same window as explained earlier, you need to just select both the Member and its Aliase to be displayed on the form.

Can we change the category name in oim 11g

Hi All,
Can we change Category name of default categories present in OIM 11.1.1.5 User Attribute Form.For Eg:-
Provisioning Dates to Important Dates.

I think I saw the category names somewhere, check Agent.properties inside oracle/iam/configservice/agentry/resources in OIMUI.jar and see if it's there. This prop files has labels for user attributes and so categories should be there, if not there was some jar which has properties file which has those label listed out. Don't have access to any env now myself but you can try searching urself too, may be you will find it.

Change a category name in numbers

I am trying to set up the personel budget and want to change or add category names. I cannot do this, would anyone know how? Some of the names there are of no use to me and do not fit my needs, thanks

I don't know why you would not be able to change or add a category name. I assume you are talking about the list in the budget table and the accompanying chart.
To change a category name, double click on the cell, type something else, hit Return.
To add a category name and keep the table in alphabetical order, the easy way would be to
Click on the little disclosure triangle next to the row number of the row above where you want to add your new category (see the screenshot below, the triangle next to the "7").
Select "add row below"
Select everything on the row. Copy, Paste to the new row. This will copy the formulas to the new row
Overwrite the category with whatever you want it to be and type in a budget for it.
The chart will automatically pick up the new category
You/we/all of us will get out of beta when Apple releases a non-beta version.

I still don't know why this hasn't been done yet. I requested for this functionality number of times and it's been like 3 years but it seems that all my effort have been ignored.
Well you can manually type category names and list items like this
Category1
{ module_some from category1 please }
Category2
{ module_some from category2 please }
However what would you do if you need to display all items together in one form but still need to style them differently ?
You can do workaround in WebApps by adding additional field (Though double amount of work when managing each item and especially clients hate it) but with News or Events you cannot do it. Say you want to decorate different events in different categories on calendar view, how would you do it ? Well there are few workarounds I can think of but doing it for myself and asking clients do it are completely different story.
I don't know how BC system is comlicated to modify but to put it in a nutshell it's just a matter of adding another value to be rendered from the database, isn't it ?
Even that function is already on "Detail Layout" only, why can't we use it on list view ?!

Change of Room Category Names

Hi,
The current category options as default_category, category_1, category_2 and category_3. If this needs to be changed to HR, Marketing, Sales and Corporate, is there any configuration that can be used to changes the category names?

Hi Arun,
You can add/change Room Categories.
Go to Content Administration --> Collaboration Content --> Go to related links (Left below). Select configure room categories.

Goto the layout styles and go to the cooresponding itms(quickpicks,etc)
goto the region content prioperties and turn off the group by (make it as none).

Big problem with relation for category name

I using this view fnd_flex_values_vl for relation with this table mtl_categories_b for display category number and category name but I can't find any value set for make the relation good and number y name of category

Your question is not clear.
Have you tried the category_concat_segs column in mtl_categories_v ?

    I think for 4.6 C <fn> must be declared as an internal table and the field names should be given as records and not as one single record.
   the fieldnames internal table should contain records as :
   Field1
   Field2 .... and not as Field1 Field2 ....

Framemaker link to Robohelp 8 generates umlaut in file names - How to remove?

I'm linking translated German Framemaker files into Robohelp.
The heading 1 and heading 2 topics in my Framemaker source files often contain umlauts in the words/phrases.
Unfortunately, when linking to Robohelp 8, the umlauts appear in the topic file names.
And the umlauts are not allowed characters in file names.
How do I remove the umlauts and yet keep a single source construction to my Framemaker-Robohelp project?
(To remove them for the source files would of course be tedious and render the words incorrect.)
(To somehow strip them from the file names would create numerous broken links.)
Our manuals are translated into several languages. I really need the single source aspect of Frame to Robohelp 8 to work properly.
Any process/procedure would be very appreciated!

By default RoboHelp creates topic names based upon the paragraph(heading 1, heading 2 etc.) text on which the FrameMaker document is split. However, this setting can be manipulating the "Topic Name Pattern" option.
To access this setting please follow the following steps.
1. Click File->Project Settings menu to open the "Project Settings" dailog.
2. Go to "Import" tab.
3. Click "Edit" button for FrameMaker conversion settings.
4. Click "Other Settings" on the left tree.
5. On the right you can set the "Topic Name Pattern" settings.
This field allows you to define the pattern based upon which you can generate topic names. One can also insert some specific text to be included in the topic names.

Lost category name in "Finder"

On the left of "Finder" where it says applications, movies, music, documents, pictures, etc. I accidently removed "movies". I still have all the movie files on my hard drive but how do I put the name of that category back into Finder? At the moment, I can only find those things through "spotlight."

I've just edited this reply, to say the Sidebar preference in the Finder
does not appear to change the area you mention losing the Movie icon
from; so I wonder if there is a default preference that could be restored
by removing a .plist; yet I am not sure where to look to find said item.
Thought I had an idea, and after checking further, that was not the case.
And rather than post a nearly empty post (it won't let me do that once I
edit, or time out in a post) I am noting this.
Not sure if you can drag an item back into that Sidebar; or if a keyboard
command would need to be used while dragging with the mouse.
I've seldom used the sidebar in the User account to navigate anywhere;
in part due to never using the User account that way in any OS X so far.
From what I recall having read, you should be able to drag iMovie into
that Sidebar to get the equivalent of an alias restored back into it.

Address book - category names on cards?

Is it possible to get each card in the addressbook to show what categories the card is assiciated with, or do I really have to look inside each category looking for the card to find that out?

By categories do you mean which Address Book Group or Groups a contact is associated with?
If so, select a contact in the Name column and press the Option key.
Address Book highlights the Groups the contact belongs to in the Groups column.

Urgent help needed in Using German Umlauts for Table names
