Just 'moved up'...can't believe it was so smooth!
Hey all, I just had to post this. I finally finished my upgrade to the latest EVERYTHING:
OSX2.1-->OSX4.5
FCP3.x-->FCP5.1
Drivers are still available for my antiquated hardware mostly purchsed in 2001:
gPort Serial Adaptor
ATTO UL3D SCSI card
G4 Mirror Door Dual 1.42GHz (more recent purchase)
Digital Voodoo D164AV (no longer in production, but still kick'n!)
Rorke UWSCSI drives, dual bay/channel using Apple's RAID software
There were so many forces against me when I started this I surely expected something to fail or be forced into buying new equipment. Much to my surprise, every software and driver installed perfectly!
I had to archive a lot of data to make room for all the new apps bundled with FCP.
It took some time to reset the various prefs, but FCP recognized the Digital Voodooo drivers and off I went. The system is still pretty fast too.
Now that's impressive!
Indeed! All hail the Mac! As a matter of fact, I decided to leave work early after that success. Hehe.

Sometimes FF has crashed and lost its "memory" of the tabs I had opened. I want to have a backup in case that happens, so I know what tabs I had up and can restore them.
Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or other menus like the Edit menu (Alt+E) and Bookmarks menu (Alt+B) and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
* "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.
* "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.

We just moved from the United States to Costa Rica. The first two days my mac worked great. Then all of a sudden I was trying to use a game application and the screen went black and there is a white cursor which I can move around, but I can't escape it. When I restart it seems okay and I see my main screen, but only for a second and then it goes black again.

Was your phone locked to T-Mobile? If so, it needs to be unlocked before you can use it here. I believe you can use it with AT&T or T-Mobile here, but you won't get 4G/LTE speeds.

Hi,
I just moved to a new place. I used to have my own internet setup and used my Airport Time Capsule as my router. Now that I don't need to use it as a router I would still like to use it as a storage device for my pictures. Can I still do that wirelessly or do I have to plug it into my computer? And if I do (which would really be crumby) do I just use a USB cable?
Please help. I have a lot of work stored on it and I am feeling pretty stuck at the moment.

CharlieYou can use your Time Capsule in your new network in a number of ways. One would be as a NAS device which I believe you are looking to do.
To do so, you would connect the TC to the new router by Ethernet. You would also want to reconfigure the TC as a bridge and disable its wireless radios.
You can do both of these using the AirPort Utility, as follows:
Run the AirPort Utility.
Select the TC, and then, select Edit.
Select the Network tab.
Change Router Mode to: Off (Bridge Mode)
Select the Wireless tab.
Change Network Mode to: Off
Select Update and allow the TC to restart. -
Ive gotten 3 responses from you guys. But still no help. Can't believe it's taken this long for apple to respond to this issue and I'm very disappointed that all I did was take precaution from left to my account info and my account has been disabled since. Sad that we can't do any updates to equipment I've spent so much money in. Hope this is resolved real soon.

If there is something you would like to ask - user to user - please do so. Otherwise, you are wasting your time complaining about Apple, since we are not Apple.

I've just moved in and everything is in the air at the moment, and tomorrow, at a good time, when phone help goes on I'l order my broadband.
How long roughly will it take for the internet to be switched on?
There was a phone signal coming through on monday, I phoned my mobile from it, but its since then been turned off, to me this suggests that because all the wiring and what not is already done that it might not take the whole 2 weeks, at least that's what I'm praying for as I work from home and rely heavily on the internet and the mobile AP I'm using currently is not sufficient enough for my needs (Uploading and downloading data-sheets).
I've been busy with medical emergencies in the family and traveling, I moved through a mutal exchange and it sort of got dumped onto me as the lady I was mutally trading flat with said she's got until 5 in the evening or she's going to be homeless, not sure how but I took it on anyway.
I'm in a very vulnerable place right now and I'm finding it hard to not have a breakdown and now learning that I might have to wait 2 weeks for the internet to be switched on this is really putting a lot of presure on me and I'm getting to the point where juggling work and real life and finding time to sort out my flat, and being on my own, is really going to push me over the edge.
Can someone please shed light on what can be done? I wouldn't mind at all at paying a little extra to have it moved up as it would save my job, almost literally...depends.
I used to have a BT phone line at my old address, which was for my Sky subscription and the lady I swapped with also had Sky, with home phone...Just trying to give as much information as possible as this is an extremely important subject for me right now and I just need things to be clear.

Help! I just moved my itunes library from a Win 7 computer to a new Win 8.1 computer following the instructions on the itunes website. Everything is good except I'm getting an error message on the Win 8 computer if I try to play a CD or get an audio file off of the internet. I get an error message that says "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. I don't know where to look for or fix the audio configuration on the win 8 computer. As far as I can tell the iTunes configuration looks the same as on the other computers in the house. At this point I don't dare plug my ipod touch into the Win 8 computer for fear it will get messed up.
I have the same problem and I know that it is due to my PCI Audio driver not being compatible with WIndows 8.1.
iTunes isn't the only program that can't direct sound to the built-in speakers anymore. The obvious solution would be to update the drivers, but unfortunately Dell does not provide an updated driver for my model, so I am stuck with that.
However, saying that, only my laptop speakers are affected by this. I can use sound fine on applications where I can choose the output device and direct sound to the head phones, but for some reason iTunes does not let you choose the audio device manually.
To listen to music I imported the iTunes Library in Windows Media Player and changed the audio output using the following instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/c00d11ba
However, I would also like to rent movie's from iTunes,

So I just updated to the newest update that was available for safari and iTunes but now it won't let me go on the Internet using safari and it also won't let me sync my songs ,,,,,(it takes forever to backup my iPad AND my iPod) so what can I do ?
If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
1. Quit itunes
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
4. press ENTER
5. Reboot your machine
6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync

I just moved my Mobile Me account to an iCloud account and can no longer sync between iCloud and this older iMac. I can post changes to my iCal on my other Mac's running OS Lion, but when I do so they don't appear on this computer in iCal. I can't upgrade this iMac to an OS greater than 10.5
Yes,that is the sad case, the only option other than a new Mac is to view iCal via Web on the older Mac & manually add changes to your old iCal.

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

Recharging my iPod shuffle (3rd gen.) on my 2009 iMac (OS 10.5.8) goes extremely slowly (via usb port at the back). This is mainly because recharging stops when my mac goes to sleep. I just can't believe that Apple doesn't have a sollution for this, but I haven't found it yet... What's the most efficient way of recharging?
Purchase a wall charger for it instead.

I have just upgraded to 10.6.7, and was browing the App. Store, I selected a product by mistake and it started to download, I cancelled the download, but it still registers in my purchases list, have I purchased that appl.? and how can I cancel the purchase in my purchases list?
I think that as soon as you click "Buy" and type in your details, the iTunes server is alerted that you have bought the item, even if it hasn't downloaded. Your "purchased" list is based on your account and not your computer so I'm afraid even if you haven't completed the download, you will be charged for it (but if you do now download it, you won't be charged again). This also means that you can't remove items from the purchased list.

I just moved all my itunes content to a windows 7 computer. I can only get "songs" in list view. Genre and Artist show as Album views. The box in preferences is checked so that all lists should show as list. How can I get a list view for Artists and Genre also?
Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox
