JWSDP 1.1 problem on WIN98

Hi!
I installed JWSDP 1.1
When I started the Tomcat server in the msdos window
I got this message:
" Bad command or file name
the JAVA_HOME enviroment variable is not defined "
Then I set the JAVA_HOME:
(set JAVA_HOME=c:\j2sdk141\jre\bin;d:\jwsdp\bin;)
and I got this message:
" Bad command or file name
Bad command or file name "
Can anybody tell me what's the problem?
But I don't understand that:
Why did the DEPLOYTOOL "delete" from the JWSDP1.1,
when JWSDP1.0's examples (e.g bookstore2) run with
the deploytool?
Furthermore the 'ant install' (on WIN98) attain the Tomcat
with URL in MSDOS Prompt. It's impossible.
Finally
Let's tell me: how can I do .war file very easy without DEPLOYTOOL!
Thanks

set your JAVA_HOME to c:\j2sdk141
this is not a classpath definition but only a reference path to your java home (as the name says).

  • Upgrading to JAXB/JWSDP1.3 from JAXB/JWSDP 1.2 -- problems

    I am seeing 2 problems after upgrading to the JAXB found in WSDP 1.3 (from 1.2)
    We are using JAXB in a client/server style app where the server is accessed via a web interface and the client is delivered via Java Web Start (JWS). Both the server and client use JAXB-generated classes.
    We have an ant build.xml file that invokes xjc and this was working for us as expected.
    For the JWS piece, we need to sign the jars we use and for testing purposes we were self-signing them, including the jar files needed for JAXB also self-signed. This is also coordinated through an ant task.
    After replacing the jar files in our lib area with the ones from my recent download of the 1.3 version of JAXB the following happens.
    1. I am seeing compiler deprecation warnings for the generated code -- this did not happen in our use of JAXB from 1.2. For example:
    [javac] /Users/jjs/Projects/SGS-Install-Fixed/sgs/src/com/gestalt/sgs/uobdif/impl/runtime/SAXMarshaller.java:259: warning: ERR_MISSING_OBJECT in com.sun.xml.bind.marshaller.Messages has been deprecated
    [javac] Messages.format(Messages.ERR_MISSING_OBJECT), null,
    [javac] ^
    I am using Java 1.4.1 on Max OS X (I know... not supported but this doesn't seem like a platform dependency) and these warnings go away if I revert back to the JAXB jars from the 1.2 release of WSDP.
    2. These are only warnings, so my build proceeds with ant. But, when I get to the jar signing step I see:
    [signjar] Signing Jar : /Users/jjs/Projects/SGS-Install-Fixed/sgs/lib/jaxb-libs.jar
    [signjar] jarsigner: unable to sign jar: java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry compressed size (expected 63854 but got 19845 bytes)
    I looked at the jar file using the jar command and there are entries there:
    4038 Wed Dec 03 22:16:20 EST 2003 META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    3303 Wed Dec 03 22:16:20 EST 2003 META-INF/SUN_MICR.RSA
    3780 Wed Dec 03 22:16:20 EST 2003 META-INF/SUN_MICR.SF
    0 Wed Dec 03 22:16:20 EST 2003 META-INF/pack.properties
    that suggest to me that perhaps the jar is now sigend by Sun and therefore can't be signed again. If I look at the corresponding jar from the JAXB/1.2, these SUN_MICR entries do not appear.
    Is this assumption correct? Can I deliver my app through web start with my apps own jars self-signed and the JAXB jars signed by Sun? I suppose I can un-jar the JAXB jars, remove the manifest material and then re-jar the files and sign those. I expect this might work.
    I am looking to share migration experiences (1.2 to 1.3) and to see what work-arounds there might be.
    Thanks
    Jim

    Replying to my own post.
    It seems that with the JWSDP 1.3 release, most (if not all) of the included jars are signed by Sun. You can NOT include jars with different signatures in the same web start application -- that's the error I get when I tried to do this.
    This means that if I want to package my jars using a self-signed certificate, I have to first un-jar all of the JAXB lib jars I want to include, get rid of the parts of the manifest that deal with signing, re-jar them and then sign all of the jars in my web start app using my own cert. More work for me, but not a show-stopper.
    I still am not sure why I am getting deprecated warnings from javac though.

    I installed 6 operating systems on my pc (WinXp Home Edition Turkish/English,WinXP Pro Turkish/English,Win98 Turkish/English) and tested it, but every time i meet the same thing (MS Blue Screen Of Death Sux...).I checked the WinXP`s logs and searched for error code`s meaning from microsoft knowledge database. They are saying nothing about this problem but the problem`s root is coming from a bad device driver. It seems to be a generic problem for all operating systems cuz all of them were restarting themselves randomly, before i close "auto-restart on critical errors" option.After i saw some messages on forums , i searched for my RAM maker`s home page then i learned that my RAM is assembled with VIA KT Series and SIS chips & optimized for them. I think nForce is too picky about rams.But i aint sure about where the hell is this problem coming from. If you guys are sure about that is an unsupported ram problem and knew the list of ram marks&models that supported by MSI K7N2 Delta -L ,please help me about this damn problem. Thanks for your help.
    Note : I tried Asus Ati Radeon 9200SE 64mb g.adapter (some peoples told me thats about g.adapter), but problem continued.

    If I read correctly in your specs I see only 11 Amps on the +12v Rail. Is this correct?
    If so, I'd advise a PSU that has at least 18 amps on the +12v Rail, perhaps as low as 16 with the other rails to match as shown currently in your spec.
    11 Amps is just way too underpowered for that rig. I am surprised it even boots.
    At what point does the BSOD occur?

    This is happening because WLS already contains the JWSDP classes, but
    an older
    release. The jars in your web applications are not used if other jars
    containing
    those classes are found first.
    Technically, you should be able to set the "prefer-web-inf-classes" parameter
    in your weblogic.xml file to make it "prefer" classes found in WEB-INF.
    There's
    one not very well documented aspect of this that would be a problem for
    trying
    to override particular classes, but it shouldn't be a problem for your
    case. The
    issue is that the ClassLoader that ends up being used if you set "prefer-web-inf-classes"
    (it might not be a different ClassLoader, but just imbued with modified
    behavior)
    actually does not allow classes in certain packages to be overridden.
    I can't
    remember all of the paths, but I do know that anything in "javax.xml.*"
    is specifically
    ALLOWED to be overridden.
    However, when I went down this path a while ago, I ran into other more
    obscure
    exceptions that i was unable to figure out. I ended up concluding that
    using the
    JWSDP included with WLS 8.1 was the path of least resistance. I never
    did try
    altering the global classpath of the appserver to include the jwsdp 1.3
    jars to
    override the classes in weblogic. This is another alternate approach,
    but I have
    a feeling that this will cause other unexpected problems.

    Hi folks, I am having some problems with the JWSDP package.
    I have the fellows programs:

    - jwsdp at directory C:\jwsdp-1.1
    - ant at directory C:\jwsdp-1.1\jakarta-ant-1.5.1
    like the default installation of respective software.
    I set in my autoexec.bat file:
    - set JAVA_HOME=C:\j2sdk1.4.2
    - set JWSDP_HOME=C:\jwsdp-1.1
    - set ANT_HOME=C:\jwsdp-1.1\jakarta-ant-1.5.1
    When I try to execute the tomcat by the menu start/Prgrams/Jwsdp/start
    tomcat I receive a error message ("Out of Environment Space"), and to
    solve this I change the "memory settings" of my .bat (like at site www.moreservlets.com).
    After made this alteration the Tomcat execute normaly by the start menu,
    but don't execute by the prompt (C:>catalina start). I receive just the
    same message when I try execute without change the "memory settings".
    The another problem is, when I try execute the 'ant build' command on
    the prompt I receive the same message ("Out of Environment Space") and the message
    "ANT_HOME is set incorrectly or ant could be not located. Please set ANT_HOME".
    I waana know, why I receive this message if I just have set the environment variables?!!?
    and what I receive the message "Out of Environment Space"!??!
    Or even better, how I can setup the my programs at the jwsdp on Windows98SE?!!?
    thanks, any tip or advice is very welcome.

  • Java 1.4.2 install problem on Win98

    Hello!
    I have the following problem: I downloaded JRE1.4.2 offline version (j2re-1_4_2_05-windows-i586-p.exe). When I try to install in on Windows98 the machine gets stuck. I see the following message:
    I see that all the files are extracted successfully.
    "Finishing installation. This may take several minutes" Or something like that. The progress bar does not show any progress. The system hangs completely (even does not react to keyboard). I waited about 20 minutes and then reset the system. I tried installing several times (first uninstall previous version completely throung "Add/Remove programs"). By the way, there are no problems with uninstalling.
    Another question - why the JRE installer does not ask me where to install the jre. It installs to "C:\Program files\". I heard that Windows98 complains if the file name contains spaces, but I have no choice :(
    Thanks in advance

    I wonder that nowbody from Sun would help the users. If JRE didn't work on the Users machines the will not use it!
    I have similar problems since I reinstalled win98se.
    For me it's impossible to install any JRE Version. I tried 1.3 and 1.4 (different Versions).
    Some times I got an error message within the installation process, sometimes not.
    Overall Java doesn't work at all!
    Would someone from Sun so kind to find out what the heck is going on?

    http://java-virtual-machine.net/tech-faq.html
    is a great link.
    It claims to have a newer, fixed version of problem DLL, SYMCJIT.DLL . Try that.
    The page has an Intel link that is out-of -date. The current Intel link is
    http://support.intel.com/support/processors/pentium4/sb/CS-007990.htm
    "CPUID detection for Intel Pentium 4 processor system"
    In two lines, they recommend:
    dir /s SYMCJIT.DLL
    ren SYMCJIT.DLL SYMCJIT.OLD
    Of course, Java will run slower, but JIT is a machine-specific concept and this *.DLL was coded to fail if it did not recognize the CPU type. Maybe not a great decision, but there you are.

  • Reload Win98 on PXI8156

    After having serious problems with Win98 and LV, I started reloading Win98 from the Images directory but the registration # is not the Win Product Key and I can't continue. I need this key. What should I do?

    Hi David,
    When you purchased your controller, you are given a Windows 98 Product key with all of the official Windows and NI documentation that you are supposed to keep since each one is unique.
    If you are unable to locate your original sticker, you can contact your NI Sales Representative to discuss acquiring a new key.

  • Problem with GF4Ti4600

    I have a MSI GF4Ti4600, DirectX 9 and latest drivers. There is one problem, though. When I play Direct3D-games there screen flickers with many lines when I move. (This concerns ALL Direct3D-games)
    Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I have tried to lower and higher the screen Hz, but no difference. I am grateful for any help.

    3D games seem to run into a SW compatibility issue on my system with XP, device drivers (AGP and Nvidia most likely) and my MSI Ti4200 card. The XP crash report indicates a device driver issue but is unable to identify which one.
    In Windows XP Pro SP1 -
    No One Lives Forever 2 crashes to BIOS consistently.
    Tried DirectX 8.1 and 9.0a.
    Tried latest VIA AGP 4.41a driver but it was less stable; consistently crashed in 3DMark2001. Didn’t bother trying a game. Rolled back to 4.30a driver which came with MB.
    In Windows 98 SE -
    No One Lives Forever 2 is rock solid, no crashes.
    Get similar results with Splinter Cell.
    Other interesting characteristics: Cannot access the MSI properties tabs in XP, crashes to OS, ended up replacing with Nvidia version; no problem in Win98. MSI Live Update doesn’t work in XP, works fine in Win98.
    Suggestions welcomed.

  • Wsdeploy needs development classpath: JWSDP-1.3

    I recently upgraded from JWSDP-1.2 to JWSDP-1.3. I noticed
    that the way wsdeploy functions has changed in that I now
    have to pass my development classpath to wsdeploy to avoid a class not
    found error when wsdeploy runs.
    In JWSDP-1.2 I called wsdeploy.bat via Ant like this:
    <target name="create.war" depends="prepare.war"
    <exec executable="${WSDEPLOY}" vmlauncher="no">
    <arg line="-o ${war.file} ${prepare.war.dir}/${prepare.war.file}"/>
    </exec>
    </target>
    This worked fine and produced a working deployable web service.
    In JWSDP-1.3 if I do the same thing, on the same web service, I get a class not found error when wsdeploy runs because wsdeploy goes looking for all of the imports defined in my web service Servant file.
    I can work around this JWSDP-1.3 problem by calling wsdeploy
    like this:
    <taskdef name="wsdeploy" classname="com.sun.xml.rpc.tools.ant.Wsdeploy">
         <classpath refid="compile.classpath"/>
    </taskdef>
    <target name="create.war"
    depends="prepare.war">
         <wsdeploy
              keep="true"
         inWarFile="${prepare.war.dir}/${prepare.war.file}"
         outWarFile="${war.file}"
         verbose="true">
         <classpath refid="compile.classpath"/>
         </wsdeploy>
    </target>
    Where the compile.classpath contains my Eclipse development classpath.
    Why does JWSDP-1.3 suddenly need to use my development classpath when JWSDP-1.2 did not?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tony

    Tony,
    This is because in JWSDP 1.3, wsdeploy will not override existing
    classes. Therefore it tries to locate all classes reference by
    the service endpoint interface. You may be using a class in your
    service endpoint interface that is in your developement environment.

  • Kt3 ultra2 unstable in win98 se

    i've been using this mobo for almost half a year now, and i noticed that it has become unstable under windows 98 se (my system is dual booted with win xp pro)
    during xp sessions, i don't have problems... everything runs well but not in win 98 se.
    does anyone here have an experience with kt3 ultra2 problems with win98 se?
    by the way, all my drivers are the latest - from video card downto mobo chipsets
     ?(

    is that so... ok...
    the instability occurs only when i setup my pc as a dual os system (winxp pro and 98se)
    if 98se is left alone in my system... its completely stable...  :] but not good for gaming.  :(
    so it simply means that my mobo is not the culprit... did i get it right?  ?(
