Labview 2011 Installation

I was installing LV2011 (PN501400y-xx) on my Dell Latitude 830 when I got a blue screen..Don't think it was the blue screen of death.  I had just finished ( after an hour) w the 1st of 3 disks.  When I re-booted it didn't ask for the remaining 2 disks.  Windows log file doesn't indicate anything catastrophic happened.  LV seems to be working fine I just don't want to get in the middle of a test or writing vis and find out I don't have some features.  I tried to do a "Repair" ( ADD/REMOVE Programs> REPAIR) and that didn't help.  Any thoughts??  The only problem I've encountered so far is I tried to use the examples from the LV Help and its says something like the LV Server isn't running.
Thanks

Hi!
I had this problem also. There was a problem with MAX after upgrading from 2010 to 2011 and then uninstalling 2010. The problem was that since so many registryfiles where not removed during uninstall, the installer automatically assumed that some stuff was already installed when I tried to repair etc. So I had to reinstall windows and then install LV2011. You know, just to be sure everything was OK.

  • LabVIEW 2011 Student Edition on Mac Installation

    Hi
I installed LabVIEW 2011 Student edition on my Mac with the OS Mac OSX Version 10.7.1 Lion edition.
At first it wouldn't install (I had installation failure because Lion OSX is 64 bit and not 32)
I used the intructions as demonstrated in the link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3773
as I found in the forum thread of:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Installing-LabVIEW-2011-for-Mac-OS-X-10-7-Lion-fails/m-p/1653742?req...
After I changed to 32 bit, the apple terminal warned me by doing so I wouldn't be able to save stuff correctly.
The software installed after I used the directions for 32 bit mode, but for some reason it did not say I was in 32 bit mode on the Apple activity monitor, it said 64 bit.
I went to the terminal and used the instructions to turn the operating system into 64 bit (even though it already say it was in 64 bit, despite LabVIEW installing, which requires 32 bit). I rebooted the computer, and I was able to use LabVIEW 2011.
    My question:
Once LabVIEW 2011 Mac student edition is installed in 32 bit mode, can it be operated when the computer is in 64 bit mode?
    thanks

    Hi JoeGanser,
Booting your Mac into OSX 64 bit should still enable LabVIEW to run, even though it is a 32 bit program. You will encounter problems however when using NI-DAQmx Base, NI-VISA or NI-488.2 drivers while running in 64 bit mode.
I have found a KnowledgeBase Article, which explains why this is the case.
Please let me know if that answers your question, please post back if you have further questions.

  • Getting "setup.exe has stopped working" message when trying to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows 7 machine

I am getting a "setup.exe has stopped working" message when trying to install labview 2011 or 2012 on a windows 7 machine. I already tried running setup.exe as an administrator with the same results. I have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 installed on the affected machine. Could this be the cause of this issue? Or does someone know the root cause of such error?

Hi - are you getting it at the start of installation, during or after 100% progress has finished?
Is it just LabVIEW you're installing, or is it drivers too, in which case, what was the last large package that was installing at the time?
This could be caused by the NVIDIA chipset driver :

  • Why can't LabVIEW 2011 find my PXI?

I'm migrating some real-time Projects from older versions of LabVIEW (8.6 and 2010) to LabVIEW 2011.  For the older systems, I installed the appropriate Real-Time software (matching version numbers) on a PXI controller, which MAX saw just fine.  When I opened my Project, I chose a New Target and had it look for an existing Real-Time PXI -- it always found the PXI without trouble.
I've just taken another PXI controller (8176) and installed LabVIEW 2011 RT on it.  Curiously, during the installation process, MAX identified it (and still does) as a Generic Desktop PC, and when it finds it, gives it a PC-looking icon instead of a PXI chassis icon.  When I open my Project in 2011 and try to add this PXI as a target, it finds no Real-Time PXIs.  Why is this?
There's a VI called RT Ping Controllers that can find all the PXI controllers -- it finds my PXI, and identifies it (correctly) to me by the name I assigned it, so LabVIEW 2011 can definitely "see" this controller, even if Project (apparently) cannot.
I'm beginning some tests involving TCP/IP (and Network Streams) with this controller and configuration.  I've had success with doing this in LabVIEW 2010, but in a (single!) test I've done with this new LabVIEW 2011 RT system, I couldn't "connect".  I haven't beaten this system enough, nor done a side-by-side comparison of equivalent code on a LabVIEW 2010 and LabVIEW 2011 system, but would appreciate it if anyone (else) has had issues (or, better, successes) with PXI-related Real-Time in LabVIEW 2011.

    Hello,
What version of Measurement Automation Explorer and the NI-DAQmx driver do you have? Also, here is article that you may find of some use:
Why can't I add my Real-Time Target in Project Explorer?

  • LabVIEW 2011 Development System fails to install

I have just tried several times to install my new copy of LabVIEW 2011 Dev Suite, but get an unknown exception (with no details - see attached picture) right at the start of installing the development system (English 32-bit).  I have rebooted and closed all applications including virus scanning but still the same.  I am using WinXP Pro SP3, and already have LV 8.6, 2009, and 2010 installed.  I'm completely baffled as this type of problem has never occurred before and there is no information about the cause of the exception.

  • Error installing LabVIEW 2011 on Win 7

I'm getting an error installing LabVIEW 2011 Professional:
I found a thread concerning missing MSIs, which suggested that one run setup.exe with the /log function, so I did, but I don't think it actually says anything useful.
I also found a Microsoft download page for WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe, which is the thing that's supposed to be missing. This seems to be an old version of the installer (most recent compatible OS = WinXP SP2), so I don't really feel like installing this on my Windows 7 system.
    Help!! Thanks in advance.
    -- Philip

    Hi Keller,
I'm Jamie an Applications Engineer at NI UK.
It does seem that you are missing some of the necessary support files required for the installer to run correctly, the details of which are available in the KnowledgeBase article here. Did you download the install files or are you installing from disk?
In addition to the setup.exe file, ensure that you have copied the following folders to the target PC or destination folder when creating an installer with LabVIEW.
    bin
    license
    supportfiles
Hope this helps get you up and running with LabVIEW 2011, let me know if you experience any further issues.
    Thanks

  • LabVIEW 2011 WSN Module?

I just received a NI WSN Starter Kit and it came with LabVIEW 2010 evaluation disks and the WSN Module Pioneer 2010. On my work laptop I have recently removed LV 2010 to upgrade to 2011. The WSN Module won't install without LabVIEW 2010...
Is there a walk-around or a new version of the WSN Module for LabVIEW 2011? Or do I have to install LabVIEW 2010 again?
    Thanks.

    Hello GrigS,
This is Andrew Brown, an Applications Engineer from National Instruments. There is a newer version of the NI-WSN driver (1.3) that is compatible with LabVIEW 2011. You do not need to install LabVIEW 2010 again. The download page for the driver is:
    NI-WSN 1.3 - NI Wireless Sensor Networks - Windows 7/Vista/XP x86
Please note the installation instructions on the page are:
    Installation Instructions
Perform the following steps to install NI-WSN 1.3.0:
    Install LabVIEW
Install LabVIEW Real-Time Module (required for NI 9792 and NI 9795 support)
Install NI-RIO Driver Software 4.0 or later (required for NI 9795 support)
Download and run the self-extracting executable NIWSN130.exe. This will install NI-WSN 1.3.0 and all necessary driver files.

  • Application built in LabVIEW 2011 installed successfully but not running on windows 8.

    Hello all,
We have been using labview 2011 to develop datalogging applications. We have built the installer package for one of the applications by choosing the option 'windows XP or later' in 'Advanced' category. The installed application works fine in Windows 7 and earlier versions. But it doesn't seem to work in windows 8. When we try to run the application, the application doesn't load itself or show up but runs in the background consuming 75% of memory (as seen in the task manager).
Then we tried rebuilding the package by selecting 'windows 7 or later' option from advanced category. The problem persists. Running the application in compatibility mode of windows 8 did not help.
Please let us know how to fix this problem.
Kudos are always welcome if you got solution to some extent.

What is "AMD only"? Do you have the exact processor model?
LabVIEW 2011 has problems with some AMD processors, and some of the issues have been fixed in 2011 SP1 f1. I don't know if built application had similar problems.

  • LabVIEW 2011 compiled application icon missing

Previously when I built an application the VI Icon would appear in the top right corner exactly the same in the compiled executable as it did in the VI.
Since upgrading to LabVIEW 2011SP1 all I get is a blank/question mark, icon missing indicator.
This happens for all of my compiled applications regardless of what icon I specify, even if I leave it as the default.
VI icon looks like this               Application icon looks like this.
Just to be extra clear, there is no problem with how the exe icon appears in windows explorer and shortcuts.
I am ONLY talking about how the front panel icon in the top right corner appears.
The application works, it just looks ugly/unprofessional.
Is this a bug? Do I have something configured incorrectly? Is there a workaround? Has anyone else noticed this?

I tried building on another computer. It works properly.
My usual development machine is running Windows XP SP3.
The other computer I just tried a build on is running Windows 7 and that works fine.
I'm trying a repair of the XP installation now (I'll get back to you in a couple of hours!).
One other possible difference is that on the XP machine I installed the LabVIEW 2011 SP1 f1 patch.
Now I can't remember if I uninstalled it again afterwards. How can you tell if the patch has been applied or not?
I can't remember if I did it on the Windows 7 machine too???

    Hi,
You can do this under Destination in the Installer. There you can add folders, which are created on the target. Under Source Files you can add your files to the folders you've created. Enclosed you will find a small screenshot.

  • Labview 2011 Won't load !! :(

I just downloaded Labview 2011 and installed it.
The install process worked just fine.
After I rebooted my PC I clicked on labview and it wasn't coming up.
The CPU was at 100% on one core
I looked in the task manager and saw labview.exe*32 at the top of the list hogging my CPU but no Labview windows.
I thought it was possibly just taking a little while but after 5 min to 10 min I lost patience and killed the process.

It sounds like something has currupted during your installation.  LabVIEW 2011 supports Windows 7 x64 and your hardware should not be an issue.  I would try uninstalling from "Add/Remove Programs" and reinstall - usually does the trick

  • Sound and Vibration Spectral map not working in LabVIEW 2011

I recently installed the latest development suite with LabVIEW 2011 and sound and vibration toolkit.
Previously I have successfully used the express function "spectral map" without a speed profile for plot type "frequency-time". With the installation of LV2011 I get an error saying "OA Speed Profile attribute not found" when using the function.
The setup is pretty straight forward with express functions "Simulate Signals", "Spectral Map" and "Color Map" in series.
Is there a bug fix or workaround for this problem?
    Attachments:
    Spectral Map Error.png ‏30 KB
    Spectral Map VI.png ‏36 KB

No, I haven't been able to make the Sound and Vibration Spectral Map express node work in LabVIEW 2011.
A workaround is to not use the express function for a spectral map. You can find the spectral map node under "Sound and Vibration"-"Order Analysis"-"Spectral Map".
I guess the speed profile should be the same for both the express and ordinary function. If so you need to input a cluster of 2 1D arrays, not a waveform. Array1 contains the time in seconds and Array2 the associated speed.

  • Labview 2011 always disconnecting over wireless Ethernet bridge!

Hello, we recently upgraded from labview 2009 to labview 2011. We use a Labview cRio-9014 and FPGA backplane 9114. For connecting the cRio to our laptop we use Digi XPress Ethernet Bridge: Multipoint 900MHz industrial wireless part# XEB09. This program worked over our wireless link running labview 2009 with the old cRio software.
After upgrading the desktop, upgrading the cRio's software and recompiling the FPGA code we tested our setup via a wired ethernet connection and ran it all day with no problems. However once we switched to using our wireless ethernet bridges the cRio disconnects always 2-3 minutes after starting. It also does not allow us to reconnect without powercycling the cRio. The radio modems show a solid connect and no problems the whole time. Now I've searched through known issues and all over the forums without finding anyone having a similar issue so I hope someone can chime in and let me know if something else in LV2011 changed or what.
My current hypothesis is that labview 2011 uses UDP packets for status/keep-alive and our radio modems are not guaranteed to recieve all UDP packets. Please correct me since this is only a guess and I don't know what's going on under the hood on the cRio side.
P.S. I've captured the packet data using WireShark on the laptops side from deployment until disconnection but can't find any obvious problems. It's a fairly large file so let me know if it's needed and I'll try to find a way to upload it.
    Hopefully someone can help.

I currently have LabVIEW 2011 installed and working OK on my laptop. Each quarter it seems like we receive a new set of DVDs from National Instruments. Presently we were sent a package of DVDs for the first quarter of 2012.  Should I simply use these DVDs and reinstall them over the present LabVIEW installation, or should I remove the current version before installing the new updates from the new set of DVDs. If I currently have MAX configured for a group of devices and tasks will they remain the same without the new installation erasing them?  Also, I have a couple of tools, like the code capture tool, circular buffer, etc installed on the laptop, will they still be in the new updated installation or will I have to go back and reinstall these tools?
