Labview 64-bit running with 32-bit addons

I ran into memory problem loading som data files, and I tried a workaround by installing Labview 64-bit, but found that the add-ons was not installed with it.
Now I needed to use sound and vibrations toolkit, so (being maybe a little too creative) I copied that toolkit over to the 64-bit Labview folder and everything seems to run.
I can load the files and do my data analysis with no errors.
Now the problem is that I don't really get how a 32-bit add-on can access the memory from the 64-bit core Labview. Does anyone have any ideas on why its running and why I don't get a memory access error.
The results looks ok, but I don’t really trust them, due to the above mentioned problem in accessing memory  between 32-bit and 64-bit.

Hi Henrik.
When using LabVIEW 32-bit on a 64-bit machine, all your VIs would run through the Windows-on-Windows emulation layer (WOW64) and this is also why we still have memory limitations on a 64-bit OS.
When you are using LabVIEW 64-bit, and using a 32-bit toolkit, what's actually happening is the 64-bit LabVIEW kernel is recompiling the 32-bit VI into a 64-bit VI. Doing this changes the inherent memory characteristics and performance of the Sound and Vibration VI's (and all 32-bit VIs, for that matter). The newly converted 64-bit VI's, then, are being executed in the native 64-bit LabVIEW kernel.
However, I would strongly advise you to install the toolkit the normal way. In the following document, you can see, that the Sound and Vibration Toolkit / Measurement Suite is in fact supported by a 64-bit version of LabVIEW.
National Instruments Product Compatibility for Microsoft Windows 7
After you install LabVIEW, you need to reinstall all your add-ons and drivers in order for that toolkit / driver to work with LabVIEW. When we install toolkits / driver, we only install support for the LabVIEW versions installed at that time.
I hope this helps.

  • How to install 32 bit program with 16 bit installer on Windows 8.1 32 bit

    Hi,
I have installed a 32 bit program that uses a 16 bit installer on Windows XP machines.  The software developer of this program is out of business.
Can Windows 8.1 32 bit run a 16 bit installer?  If not, any suggestions as to how I might install this program?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi
You need to  to install Windows XP in Hyper-V, because start from windows 8, they no longer support 16bit program.
     or you already try DOSBox?

Is it possible to use 32-bit firefox with 64-bit java plugin?
I'd like to use 32-bit firefox and I already install 64-bit java plugin.
Is that a right choice not to install 32-bit java plugin?
    Will these cause problem?
    Thanks in advance.

Nope - you need the 32bit Java to go with the 32bit Firefox if you want Java to run

  • Install new Dialog Instance on 64-bit Server with 32-bit database

I need to set up a new Application Server for our current ECC 5.0 32-bit Oracle 9.2.0.7 Non Unicode Database.  The new server is x64-bit and will have Windows 2003 64-bit OS.  I am reading SAP notes 785888 and 814834 and need help understanding how exactly to do this.  The database server is 32-bit Windows 2003 and so is all the other application servers.  Do I use the Oracle 9.2.0 client for 32-bit Oracle and do I use the SAP ECC X64 Install Master in setting up the dialog instance or do I use the 32-bit Install master?  Has anyone done this type of setup before?  Thanks.

    Hi,
all basic information is provide in note 785888.
you want to install dialog install on 64bit windows for 32 bit central instance for that you should consider following.
-> file system is accessible from both host  vice a versa for that you can create one use sapinst on 64 bit host with administrator authorization. and create same user on central instance with administrator authorization and same password.
-> perform dialog instance installation using this user  ( i.e sapinst)
-> if you want to use  dialog instance on 64 bit host with 64 bit kernel, install oracle client 10.2 for 64 bit on 64 bit host of windows. for media information check note 949116.
->use  non unicode kernel because central instance use non unicode kernel.
-> most important 64 bit dialog instance required 64 bit kernel, SAPinst installation screen ABAP System > Instance Directories, where you are asked for the "Location of SAP System Executable", you choose "Yes, locate executables on central instance host", before choosing "Next". The executables for the dialog instance are installed to
    <sapglobalhost>\sapmnt\<sapsid>\SYS\exe\<nuc\uc>\NT<AMD64|IA64|I386>*
so when you want to apply kernel patch you have to uncar the kernel package to this location.
-> maintain the kernel patch level same on both host.

  • Replace 32-bit files with 64-bit

    Hello!
2 years ago when I upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 not all system files were updated to 64-bit files - I still have some old 32-bit files. I have updated some of them successfully.
What is the best way to this? Make a clean install of 10.7, or is there a way to update all files to 64-bit versions?

Is there a reason you're looking at this?
Mac OS X 10.6 booted with the 32-bit or 64-bit kernel runs both 32- and 64-bit stuff just fine.
Mac OS X 10.7 boots 64-bit, and also runs both 32-bit stuff and 64-bit applications just fine.
This also ignores images that are built "universal", that contain the executable code for various configurations.
If you have a specific application you're interested in, you'll want to identify it.  (If there's a particular reason you need a 64-bit image, you'll also check with whomever provided it.)

  • Captivate 7 32 bit compatibility with 64 bit

I work on a 2-person development team. Both of us run Captivate 7 but I run a 32-bit version while my team mate run the 64-bit version.
We have noticed issues when trying to open and edit eachothers projects. Does anyone know if this could be the result of using the different bit-versions?

I don't think there will be issues. What kind of issues do you face? It might be because of some other reasons.

  • Linking 64 bit objects with 32 bit library(.so)

    Can we link x86 64 bit objects(*.o and *.a) with x86/32 bit i.e. ELFCLASS32 library (.so)?
I tried to do this but snagged in errors -
    cc -fast -xarch=amd64 -o ABC a64_1.o a64_2.o L164.a -l32bitlib
ld: fatal: file lib32bitlib.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32
Is any workaround available to solve this issue?

You cannot mix 32-bit and 64-bit code in the same program. The entire program, including shared libraries that are linked, must all be 32-bit or all 64-bit. This rule applies on Solaris and Linux, on all platforms.

  • ITunes replacing 256 bit songs with 128 bit songs

When I downloaded new applications from the App Store today, I noticed that my downloads in iTunes also downloaded six songs.  Upon further inspection, it replaced three Peter Gabriel Songs from the Album "So" with 128 bit versions, and moved my 256 bit versions to the trash.    I purchsed six songs, total, off of that album, but only three were replaced and deleted.
In addition to moving the above songs to the trash, it also sidelined a handful of songs by copying new versions, including:
I've been Everywhere, Johnny Cash, Unchained
Baby Baby, Amy Grant,  (no record of previous purchase from this same album)
New York, New York, Tony Bennett, Fifty Years (previously had a 128 bit version, and it downloaded a second 128 bit version)
Anyone else experience this?  You can easily check after the fact by sorting on recently modified songs, and see if you have any 128 bit versions, or if you don't empty your trash often, by looking for the "Original iTunes Purchases" in your trash.  This will show any files that have been deleted, but not sidelined.

I saw ginbear's post and looked again.  I had two more replaced files.  Appears they were replaced on 1/22 and 1/24 of this year.  I have a couple thousand iTunes tracks, and it only seems to replace a couple ever few months.  Luckily, I was able to retrieve the files.  One from a recent backup, and the other from a one-off copy I made just in case, the last time it happened.
Here's the response I received from Apple after pursuing it for a couple weeks the last time it happened.  They looked at specific tracks iTunes had downloaded.
I'm not sure what the representative is trying to say, but I was glad they looked into the issue.
    10/13/2011
Name, this issue is one that does not occur often (I myself have only encountered one other instance of this happening). This may have been caused by a technical error in the iTune Store itself resulting in the pre-upgraded file to download automatically to your account which has been only been known to happen on very rare occasion.
The other explanation may have been an error in iTunes, or with your iTunes library file that caused the 128-bit DRM files to replace your 256-bit DRM free files. For example, if your iTunes library was restored from an iTunes library file before the upgrade was made.
In any case, it is not the iTunes Store's intent to replace your music with pre-upgraded files so I am very glad to hear that you were able to recover your iTunes Plus music, and do not appear to have any files missing.
I want to make sure that you are able to enjoy your iTunes Plus music, so please feel fee to let me know if there is anything further I can assist you with in regards to your files. Thank you for your continued patience name. I hope you have an excellent day!

  • Labview 2012 32bit running in 64 bit windows

    Hello Sir/MAdam,
I have recently installed LabView 2012 on 64-bit windows 7. It seems LabView is 32-bit. When I run a simple code for reading digital inputs, it does not response while when I run this code on LabView 2010 running on a 32-bit PC it works!
Could this problem be because of 32-bit LabView 2012 running on my 64-bit windows. I also installed drivers which support 64-bit.
I attached the simple code I am using for reading digital inputs.
I appreciate in advance your kind help.
    Thanks,

    Soroush,
At this point it's still a little hard to say what may be causing this problem. Have you tried running any other I/O examples included with LabVIEW? Are these also unresponsive on the 64-bit machine running LabVIEW 2012?
Are you able to see any values using the Test Panels for the simulated cards in the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)?
I don't think this is related to the 32- or 64-bit architecture of the computer, but hopefully we can help you figure something out.

  • Installing 64-bit ColdFusion with 32-bit Apache web server on Windows Server 2008 64-bit

This is related to another discussion that had a solution of using an unofficial 64-bit Apache, which is not permitted in my situation.  The discussion is here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3580001.
I’m having trouble running the Apache and ColdFusion services after connecting the two with wsconfig.  I’ve tried replacing the 64-bit mod_jrun22.so with the 32-bit equivalent and the Apache service will then start, but the ColdFusion services error when loading the jvm.dll.
    Anyone familiar with this?
    Apache Web Server 2.2.22
    ColdFusion 9
    Thanks.

Looking into the same issue myself. Can you elaborate on this? Which version of the JVM did you upgrade to and did you configure it in the CF Admin to use that jvm?
Using the web connector, I get an error message that the mod_jrun22.so is not a valid win32 application.
    Thanks

  • Can Oracle Forms compiled in 32-bit run in 64 bit without recompile ?

My customer has a development machine running on HP-UX 10.2 and a production machine running on HP-UX 11.0 installed with 9IAS form server. Can Oracle Developer 6i be installed on the HP-UX 10.2 32-bit machine and the oracle forms compiled in a 32-bit machine be run on a HP-UX 64-bit machine ?
    Can somebody help ?

Boy, this was a long time ago and not intended to reply to this particular question but for sharing my experience with 6i client/server development on linux 32bit and running (client/server deployment) on 64bit linux. I don't believe there is a 64bit 6i forms developer - it is 32 bit, so development must be on 32 bit and when you run on 64bit, then you will have library (missing) problems. My solution was to create a custom runtime which included all the related system libraries from the 32 bit for the client/server. This forms 6i custom runtime for client/server also included the patchset 18 and the 10g R2 instant client for sqlplus (to support xquery). All the forms development modules, make files, graphics, docs, etc was stripped out and then it became a lean client/server runtime for Linux (for both 32bit and 64bit). This custom runtime for client/server is technically not supported by Oracle and the 6i is close to its obsolescence (2008) - but it has been tested against 8,8.1.7.4, 9.2.0.8, 10g (R1 and R2) and XE and works like a champ. This does NOT work for 6i web deployment.

  • 64 bit Powershell with 32 bit Tidal

Hi All, I'm wondering if someone could assist me. Here is my scenario:
I have a powershell script that is performing a P2Vof a server. It runs locally on the tidal server and connectes to the SCVMM server to perform the P2V.
I have a batch script that calls this P2V script
When I run the powershell script locally on the Tidal server it works fine and the P2V is created
When I run the batch file that calls the powershell script it works fine and the P2V is created
I created a Tidal job and pointed to the batch file. The job runs but the P2V isn't created
I have added some debugging into the powershell script which is dumping stuff into a text file so I know the powershell script is running
It seems like the script is functioning fine except when it comes to the P2V creation portion
I have read other posts and it seems to me the issue may be in that my powershell script has to use a 64 bit SCVMM snapin which means I have to use the 64 bit version of powershell. Tidal is a 32 bit application so I think its having an issue using the SCVMM snapin even though its calling the 64 bit powershell version.
Does anyone have any suggestions I can try to get around this?

    Is your server 64 bit?
what are your tsagent.ini settings for on the server? this can have an impact on quotes and powershell in particular
    our is
    [config]
    substticks=n
you could specify the 32bit version of Powershell if you needed to on the command line
    %SystemRoot%\syswow64\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe
    %SystemRoot%\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe

  • LabVIEW 2009 program runs with no issues .exe does not

    Hello,
We have been doing some new LabVIEW development.  We started turning them into executable.  Errors occurred during the build in a File I/O vi.  This was resolved by copying the diagram into a new vi.  This seemed odd given that it was the same vi.  Any thoughts on this?
There are problems with the program operation once we create and run the .exe.  The vi runs fine.  Hum? Some of the issues are......  (1) some of the setup .vi for our test equipment no longer setup the equipment correctly (2) sub .vis that were set to show must be set in the vi properties of the vi instead of in the calling vi.  I've read that the executable run quicker than the vi.  ....most of our communication to instruments is through GPIB.  Are there any suggestions on how to control timing when using GPIB?
    THANK YOU!

Why can't I run an executable created in LabVIEW 2009 and later, and how do I fix it?
Theres a good KB article that should set you straight.

  • SL SDK, 32-bit DLL with 64-bit db

Trying to retrieve a UNX universe using the 4.1 Semantic Layer SDK.
Apparently, we need to use the 32 bit DLLs if the universe is uses a

  • Nik Collection does not work with Photoshop CC 64-bit but with 32-bit

    Hi,
though the Nik-Collection-Filters are listed (and installed) in PS CC 64, they do not work properly. The first visible difference is, that the "panel" of the various filters is not displayed when I start PS, but it is in the 32 bit version.
Even if I want to apply an Nik-Filter on an image nothing changes, but it does in 32 bit mode.
Is there a solution for this problem?
    Thanks!

Hello, I found a Post. I tried this and it works perfectly, you don't have to re-install CC or install CS6   all you have to do is that you install the Nik Collection in Photoshop CC (32bit) (plug ins)   then you copy the "Google" File and that is the important one !!
    into:
    Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Panels\ ...........
    it works perfectly.
