Labview exe with HTML reports

Hi,
I am building an exe of a program that use some simple VIs to generate an HTML report (so I didn't need Report Generation Toolkit);
in the build I found a lot of VIs included in 3 directories: NI_HTML, NI_Reports, NI_StandardReport....are all of them necessary??
Is there any way to avoid this? Shoudn't the RunTime engine include them?
I am using Labview 2009
thanks

   Although I've used the Report Generation Toolkit for some projects, I have avoided using it for those deployed as executables ever since the LVOOP transition caused the distribution to blow up.  I'm looking for an html solution again for an executable.  Is anyone aware of a third-party html LV tool that can create simple reports and doesn't require the Report Generation LVOOP bloat in a distribution?
Thanks,

    There is a much more detailed guide here, which I reference below:
    1. First you will enable it in the settings:
    1. Open the properties for the application's build specification
    2. Navigate to the Advanced category
    3. Check the Pass all command line arguments to application box
    To pass the command line arguments to the application and access them in your code follow the same steps as for LabVIEW 7.x.
    2. Then you will use two hypens (--) to pass command line arguments to the VI.
    When you launch LabVIEW or a stand-alone executable from the command line, you can pass user-defined arguments to the application. User-defined arguments start after two hyphens (– –) surrounded by spaces in the command line. For example, the following command line entry will launch LabVIEW 7.1 and open test.vi from the root of C:\ and pass 2 arguments, 1000 and sine:
    "C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\LabVIEW.exe" "C:\test.vi" –– 1000 sine
    You can also pass a command line argument directly to an EXE without launching LabVIEW, as long as the machine has the appropriate Run-Time Engine and necessary drivers.  For example, if test.vi was built into an executable, it could be called as follows:
    "<build directory>\test.exe" –– 1000 sine
    3. Lastly, you will use a property node to wire them to your controls:
    LabVIEW passes the arguments from the command line to the block diagram of the VI or EXE you launch. You can reference the arguments in the block diagram by using the Application:Command Line Arguments selection in a property node, as shown below.

  • LabVIEW exe. with 2 USB Daq devices

    Hello All,
    I am trying to build a LabVIEW exe. with two USB 6210 data aquistion modules plugged into a USB hub installed inside a 19" rack. I used the DAQ Assistant to generate the LabVIEW code for the aquisition and it works fine. However, when I disconnect the USB cable from the development machine and reconnect later, my I/O are mapped to the wrong modules. Is there a way to map my channel names to the actual module, maybe in MAX, and just include the Max configuration file in my exe? Can I use the DAQ assistant,  or do I configure the physical channel names and create my own tasks in MAX and not use the DAQ Assistant?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Botman,
    Unfortunately you are in a unique situation in that you have 2 of the same type device that are removed from the system and reconnected to the system at the same time.  However, it is probably not guaranteed that one device will be detected before another consistently.  Given your situation I would recommend that you set up your application to programmatically discover the devices in your system.  There is an example program here that demonstrates how to do this.  In your case I think detecting by serial number would be ideal.  All you would need to do is include the LLB file in your project to ensure that all of the necessary VIs are included.
    Keep in mind that this will require some modification of your code.  You will need to use the lower-level DAQmx functions rather than the DAQ Assistant (which basically serves as a wrapper around the lower-level functions).  In the end, adding the VI from the example program above and using lower-level DAQmx functions will make your code more robust because distributing the executable to another system (or even using it on the development system) will not require the user to interface with MAX at all.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • HTML Report with images in LabVIEW 6.1

    I am generating an HTML report in LabVIEW 6.1 with an image. When I
    save the html file to disk, two files are saved, the report and the
    image. The report has the name I specified but the image does not.
    It is not readily apparent that the two are related. As a result,
    when I try and e-mail or move the report, the image gets left behind.
    Is there a way to embed the image file in the report? Or what is the
    best way to associate these two files so they can be e-mailed
    together?
    Tim Erickson
    Signature Control Systems

    Tim,
    Unfortunately, HTML does not include images.
    A suggestion would be to create a GIF image, or to put everything in a zip file, or something to that effect.
    I had to work with HTML documentation for LabVIEW, and actually used LabVIEW to substitute the images for control types with words, such that images were not required. You can try this if your images are nothing more than representations for which text can be substituted.
    Alternatively, if your image is something like a graph, or the front panel, I might suggest creating a .gif or .jpg image out of it. This has to be done manually, but will make the page one single file.
    Good luck, I hope that helps.

  • LabView Exe Application file not launch Excel application for report generation

    Dear All,
    I created one LabVIEW application file for report generation (using Excel Template).
    While I run the program in programming mode it works well and create the report file in the specified path.
    After creation of the application file(exe), it gives the correct path of where the excel template is placed. The same path is given to New Report.vi, but it gives the error 'File Not Found'.
    Tell me, is any other configuration required for generating Excel reports? (During exe application mode)
    Give me the solution.
    Thank You
    Jegan.

    Hello,
    Most likely you are encountering a problem of stripping and/or building paths.  Probably the easiest thing to do is put a couple indicators on your front panel for the path or paths you care about, build your exe, and make sure you are really using the path you'd like.  If you always put the report at some deterministic place relative to the exe (that is, even it the exe is moved, it will go with the exe and remain in the same relative path location, then you can use the Current VIs Path funtion found in the ... File I/O -> File Constants palette as a start path (where you will want to strip at least the exe name off of course).
    I think this will bring some clarity to the issue!

    Hi,
    I tried your vi: I don't get any error message after removing the disk but LV7 keeps on accessing the drive at regular intervals even if you stop the vi and close it!!! This is not supposed to happen.
    The only way to stop it is exit LV7.
    If you don't use the file dialog and you wire a full path, you don't get any problem.
    I also created a very simple vi that conditionally writes a text file on a: and I got the same behaviour.
    This problem occurs only with LV7, I tried the same examples in LV6.1 and everything was fine.
    If anybody wants to try I attach this simple example,

  • Reports with HTML links to "sub-reports"

    Ray,
    I would like to have the sub-reports be the same format as the main report but it is not important if it has a header like the main report has.  I think that it needs to just make a report that will print on 50 pages into something easily readable.  I have already toyed with the idea of a database, but I would still have to create a report of some sort, so if I can modify TestStand's report sequence to do it, that would be even better.
    So basically I am dynamically calling a series of selectable tests.  If each of the called tests had their own report liked in to the main test where it was called, that would be great.
    So, I'm looking for something like this:

  • Problem with NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on different machines

    We have 5 machines here in our workgroup which have the same state regarding security patches and other system updates. We recently found out that there is a problem with the NIReport.llb\Print HTML Report using IE.vi on the different machines.
    If I would open the VI on MachineA the control could be loaded. If I would open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineB to MachineA and open the VI the control could not be loaded. If I would copy the VI from MachineA to MachineB and open the VI on MachineB the control could be loaded. MachineB could load the version from MachineA and MachineB but on MachineA only the own version will load. I have seen that both versions have the same GUID for the Microsoft Webbrowser but are different in some other aereas.
    Since printing HTML Reports is part of the application which will be distributed as application I want to know if someone else have seen such a behaviour or has got problems distributing an application.
    Also I want to know which additional information is stored in an Active-X container about the control beside the GUID.
    We have Win XP Prof SP2 with MS IE 6.0.2900.2180 on all machines in the workgroup.

  • Generate HTML report with ANT

    Hello,
    I'm  new to FlexPMD. I have just generated my firsts reports. I try to generate HTML reports.
    I browse the documentation, this forum and the web and I find informations to :
    - generate documentation with Hudson
    - generate documentation with Maven
    - generate documentation with XSLT pmd.xml -> html
    Ok, I try to keep it simple. So I don't want to use Hudson.
    I'm using ANT, and I currently don't want to install/learn Maven.
    I'm using FlexUnit with ANT. And It's really simple to generate reports :
    <junitreport todir="${report.flexunit.loc}">
                <fileset dir="${report.flexunit.loc}">
                    <include name="TEST-*.xml" />
                </fileset>
                <report format="frames" todir="${report.flexunit.loc}/html" />
    </junitreport>
    I'm really new to FlexPMD, so I don't have currently a big knowledge, but it seems impossible to generate a HTML report just like junitreport. (1 line in an ANT task)
    I test the XSLT transformation found on this forum (thread "XSLT pmd.xml -> html"). It's really cool. But it's seems difficult, for example, to extract the wrong code part and add it to the HTML page.
    So, what is the simpler solution to generate HTML report just with FlexPMD/ANT ?
    Thanks !

    Hello,
    Currently you generate a PMD report with ANT  like this :
    <! -- define taskdef  -->
    < taskdef name="pmd"  classname="com.adobe.ac.pmd.ant.FlexPmdAntTask"  classpath="${build.pmd.loc}/flex-pmd-ant-task-${flexpmd.version}.jar">
             < classpath>
                 < path refid="flexpmd.base" />
                 < pathelement  location="${build.pmd.loc}/commons-lang-2.4.jar" />
                 < pathelement  location="${build.pmd.loc}/flex-pmd-core-${flexpmd.version}.jar" />
                 < pathelement  location="${build.pmd.loc}/flex-pmd-ruleset-api-${flexpmd.version}.jar"  />
                 < pathelement  location="${build.pmd.loc}/flex-pmd-ruleset-${flexpmd.version}.jar"  />
                 < pathelement  location="${build.pmd.loc}/plexus-utils-1.0.2.jar" />
             < /classpath>
    < /taskdef>
    then generate XML  report like this :
    < pmd  sourceDirectory="${src.loc}" outputDirectory="${report.loc}"  ruleSet="${build.pmd.loc}/rules.xml"/>
    The  XML contains some file nodes :
    < file  name="/Users/user/workspace/AS3_UTILS/src/utils/align/gridAlignSpaceNumber.as">
           < violation beginline="22" endline="22" begincolumn="0"  endcolumn="27" rule="adobe.ac.pmd.rules.naming.TooShortVariable"  ruleset="All Flex Rules" package="utils.align"  class="gridAlignSpaceNumber.as" externalInfoUrl="" priority="5">This  variable name is too short (3 characters minimum, but 1 actually).  Detects when a field, local, or parameter has a very short name<  /violation>
    < /file>
    The  message is in the text node  < violation>TEXT< /violation>
    For  me, we miss an important part of the message : the portion of the "bad"  code.
    It could be very usefull if PMD can generate  something like this :
    < file  name="">
           < violation beginline="" endline="" begincolumn=""  endcolumn="" rule=""  ruleset="" package=""  class="gridAlignSpaceNumber.as" externalInfoUrl="" priority="">
            < description>TEXT< /description>
            < code><CDATA[MY CODE
    MY CODE
    MY CODE]>< /code>
        <  /violation>
    < /file>
    With this, we can  generate "full" HTML report with XSLT transform easily.
    I  understand that it modify the standard XML schema of the output.
    So,  perharps it could be an option like this :
    < pmd fullDescription="true"  sourceDirectory="${src.loc}"  outputDirectory="${report.loc}"  ruleSet="${build.pmd.loc}/rules.xml"/>
    What do you think ?
    Thanks !

    OK, thanks. I guess I'll end up living with it the way that it is because
    using either method seems to also have the side effect of causing the output to become double-spaced and
    the only reasonable place to implement the change (so that it did not also impact the "standard report" output) would be within the report generation VIs and I'd rather not be modifying them.
