Labview program works on one computer, but doesn't on another.

We have a laptop running a custom data aquisition program that was made with labview by an external company. It communicates via ethernet with a box full of national instruments hardware that is connected to some sensors. While it works fine on the laptop, attempts to install the software on other computers results in the following error message "An error occured while attempting to open the configuration file "C:\program files\(name of the program)\data\(name of our company)fieldpoint.iak"". This error occurs whenever we try to open the test settings page or run a test. I've checked that directory and the file is in fact there.
The new computers (we've tried several) always have difficulty connecting to the hardware via ethernet, and if you look at the network activity in windows you can see a whole bunch of packets being sent but only a few if any being recieved. I'm wondering if this is a network configuration problem? I've tried to match as many settings as I can find but to no avail.
The company that made the software isn't responding to emails.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I suspect that the problem you have communicating with the equipment is a configuration issue. You mentioned you see lots of packets going out but nothing coming back. Are the packets going out being sent to the correct IP Address?
I am not sure why you are not seeing the file since you say it is there. When you installed this application did you use their installer or simply copy things over to the other computer. There may be registry settings that are not there if you simply copied it. Also, there may be other support files that are not present on the other computer. You may also want to check the permissions on the files too. You will get an error if you try to open a file with the wrong permissions and this error is not always clear about what the issue is.

  • HELP!! WRT54G2 works for one computer, but not for the other

I have a WRT54G2 and it is connected to 2 computers. The internet works in one computer, but not on the other. The tech support said i needed to configure it or firmware or something like that. But my product is out of warranty and I really need the internet on the other computer as well. Please Help!!!

As your one computer is working fine then there is no problem with the router so far...
The computer which is not working...check the IP Address on that...
Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then type ping 4.2.2.2 and press Enter, if you get request timed out, then you need to upgrade your router's firmware...If you get 4 replies then type ping yahoo.com and press Enter...If you get replies for Yahoo then you should get the Internet after adjusting the browser settings...
Adjusting Browser Settings : Open an IE, click Tools >> Internet Options, then delete all files, cookies, history, forms...Goto "Connections", make sure Never Dial a Connection is checked, click on LAN Settings and make sure all the options are unchecked...Once you are done click on O.k...Close the IE and re-open it...
If yahoo times out then provide static DNS on your LAN Connection...
Click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>>Network Connections- Right click on the icon for Local Area Connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the Following DNS Settings' Preferred DNS 4.2.2.2 Alternate DNS - 192.168.1.1>>Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...You should be able to go online...

  • Implicit read with assembly module instance working on one computer, but not another

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up an on-site computer to run a VI which uses assembly instances for data communication, but for some reason I'm unable to establish a connection to the PLC.
I'm running the example vi "CreateAssemblyInstance.vi" to try and get the communication set up before I start using my actual program.
When I run this code on my development machine, I'm able to establish a connection to the PLC and read data. I then go into RSLogix 5000 and change the IP address to the on-site machine and try to run the test VI there, but I'm unable to make a connection. LabVIEW-side, the program thinks that it's established a connection and is reading/writing data, but PLC-side I'm getting a "Connection Failed" message in RSLogix.
I find it weird that LabVIEW thinks the connection was established just fine, which the RSLogix says it can't connect to the VI.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen. We aren't sure why the same VI runs on one machine but not another. We used RSLogix to change the IP address of the target machine, so we don't think that's the issue. And both computers are on the same network, so we don't think it's a firewall issue either.
LabVIEW-side, things should be identical. I'm running the same example VI that came with the Ethernet/IP module. PLC-side, we're changing the target IP of the module within RSLogix 5000 (and we're sending the updated information to the PLC) to match the machine we're trying to make a connection with. Are we missing any steps? This is the first time we've tried using an assembly module, so we're having a hard time troubleshooting.
Any ideas on why this is happening?

I'm pretty sure we're using a generic ethernet module:
I can communicate explicitly with the problem computer, it's able to use 'Tag Read' and 'Tag Write' to communicate with the PLC.
We started having another problem just recently too. The Tag Read and Write commands are almost always timing out. I keep getting the error message -251723752:
Detailed error info: Error -251723752 occurred at EthernetIP Tag Read REAL.vi;Details: The request response was not received in the requested timeout period    Possible reason(s):  Ethernet/IP Industrial Protocol: (Hex 0xF0FF0018) The request response was not received in the requested timeout period
I can't figure out what's causing this all of a sudden, could these issues be related?

  • -computername works for one computer but not multiples

    Hello,
I am new to powershell and I am trying to run a basic command:
    Limit-eventlog -logname Security -computername server1, server2 -maximumsize 6400KB
My computer and the two servers are both running powershell 4.
If I remove one of the computernames the command works fine...it doesn't matter which one, each one will work, they just won't work together.
The error message has nothing to do with the servers though:
"Limit-eventlog: the value supplied for MaximumSize parameter has to be in the range of 64 KB to 4GB with an increment of 64KB.  Please enter a proper value and then retry".
It doesn't matter what value I try (64 KB, etc )it is always the same error with both servers.  Remove one server and the command runs fine.
What is the proper syntax to use for multiple servers?
    thanks

  • Ipod works on one computer but not the other?

Can someone please help me? My ipod works on my laptop but not the desktop. When I plug the Ipod into the desktop it sometimes shows up in Itunes but says it's corrupt. Which it obviously isn't because it works fine on it's own when not plugged into a computer and it works fine when I plug it into the laptop. Also when I looked in my computer the Ipod would show up as drive j and it would flash on and off. Well, I tried plugging the Ipod into a different port and that worked as far as drive j stopped flashing on and off. I tried changing the drive name and it wouldn't let me because it always went back to drive j even after I changed it to drive z. Itunes is playing music and is up to date. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Please help.

  • External media files work on one computer but not on another

I have several MOV and MP4 video files that are stored in a specific folder, and some of my presentations display those videos in their slides. Because there are too many video files, they’re not embedded on the presentation, they are (I believe) only linked, or else the presentation file would just get too large.
I usually create the presentations on my home iMac and copy them to my MacBook to take to work. The folders structure is exactly the same on both computers, including the user name.
I upgraded to Keynote 6 (and now to 6.0.1) on both computers (both running on OS Mavericks). When I open on my MacBook a presentation that I created on my iMac, the app says the video files couldn’t be located, and it only displays a still of the video. But the video files are there! The folders are mirrored! This procedure worked fine with version 5.3, but doesn’t work with 6.0.1.
    Any suggestions?

I would suggest you revert to using Keynote version 5 and things will work as they did.
Make sure you use version 5 presentation files as files used with 6 will have been converted to version 6 files.
Once Keynote has been updated and is more mature and reliable, you could start using 6 again.

  • Wi fi works on one computer but is not being recognized by my phone and other computers?

    Shortcut Method
On your Mac, please open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Extreme icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window that appears
Check the setting for Router Mode. It should be set to DHCP and NAT. If it's not, change to DHCP and NAT and click Update at the lower right of the window and allow a full minute for the AirPort Extreme to restart.
Then, power off both the modem and AirPort Extreme
Wait at least 15 minutes, longer will not hurt
After the power down period, power up the modem and let it run for 5 minutes
Then, power up the AirPort Extreme
Check the network. If all devices connect, you are good to go. If connection issues still exist, you will need to move to the.......
    Start from scratch method
With the AirPort Extreme powered on for a few minutes, hold in the reset button on the back of the device for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the Extreme to restart to a slow, blinking light.
Repeat the steps above starting with the power down of the modem and AirPort Extreme.
The AirPort Extreme is automatically reset to DHCP and NAT when you perform the reset, so you do not need to check this setting.
This time, when you power up the AirPort Exteme again, you will need to reconfigure the Extreme again. You can use the same device name, wireless network name, etc that you used before if you wish, or change things up.

  • Updating software on one computer but register/library on another one?

I just purchased a new Nano and, having dial up internet at the house and having just seen my kids setting up their new Nano's this Christmas, I expect to spend the next few days downloading and updating the software on this Nano(Why doesn't it come with updated software is another question). But I was wondering, can I use a computer (with iTunes) at work that has a very fast connection to update the software on the Nano but NOT register it on this work computer?

You don't need to register an iPod for it to work and you can use it on multiple computers so you can use your work computer any time you want to update it. If you choose to register it, once that's done you won't be required to register it again on another computer. One thing you need to be aware of though is that if you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • My ipod is showing as corrupt on one computer but not corrupt on another computer

My ipod (5th gen classic) was working fine. I connected it to my desktop where i store my library but it showed as corrupt. I restored it as per suggestion but it still says it is corrupt. When I connect the same ipod to my laptop itunes recognizes the ipod and asks me to go through the new ipod set up steps. Why is one computer saying ipod is corrupt and the other computer is not?
I have tried bypassing the usb hub on my desktop and connecting directly to the usb card, but that did not work. I also went through the 5 R's twice but still does not work.
I also tried changing the drive letter for the ipod as per another article I found on line but that also does not work.
I could use my laptop if I could import my music from my media server to the itunes library on my laptop but itunes does not recognize the media server as a disk location. My music appears under Shared...but cant sync shared to my ipod (at least I don't think i can).
If anyone can help that would be great.
    Thanks.

So you are plugging your iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port that is directly located on your PC's motherboard?
My suspicison is that is somesort of driver or software conflicts with iTunes your iPod that is causing iTunes to not properly recognize the device.  Have you tried removing and re-installing all Apple related software?  Use the instructions in this article to walk you through the process.
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
There is a link in that same article in case you have Windows Vista or 7.
It wouldn't hurt to also check and make sure all the BIOS, firmware, drivers, and chipsets are up do date on your system.

  • Hello!  I have an iMac that I lose the audio output for certain profiles.  The audio output will work on one profile, but when switching to another profile, I lose the audio output.  I've reset the NVRAM/PRAM and that hasn't solved the problem.  Help!

    Hello!
I have an iMac (running iOS 10.6.8, not upgraded to Lion) that I'm having audio issues with.  I have 5 profiles on this machine.  The audio output will work fine out of one profile, then when switched to another, the profile will not have any audio output at all.  Rebooting the machine will occasionally solve the problem.  Administrator permissions are not the issue since this has also manifested itself on the administrator profile. I've also reset the NVRAM/PRAM and that hasn't helped.  All my software is up to date and I recently upgraded the RAM to 2x2GB sticks.  This problem was existing prior to the RAM upgrade.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tony,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Creative zen plus works on one computer but it will not connect to my lap

I am trying to connect my creative zen plus to my laptop. I have been using it on my desktop. When I plus it in, I click open songs/files in folder, and it is as simple is that (I drag my songs into and out of my MP3 player).
I just tried plugging it into my laptop, and nothign happened. I then installed the software. Now, when I plug it into the laptop, I get a "found new hardware" message, but I cannot open up the folder to view the files like I do on my desktop. When I click the zen organizer, it says "device not found." Is there something that I need to install or update? I am sure that there is a way for me to be able to use this on both computers. Thanks for the help!

You need to install the software on the laptop before plugging the player in. Uninstall it then load it up again. If that doesn't work, this is the advice I got and it worked first time out:
. Please connect the player to another USB port. Use the ones on the
back of the computer. Remove all other USB devices. If you have another
computer, please try to test the player on that too.
    2. Ensure that you are logged in as Administrator or have Administrator
rights assigned to you on the computer.
    3. Check Device Manager and see if the player is detected.
    a. Click Start and Control Panel (or Settings then Control Panel)
    b. If the Control Panel is being displayed in the Category View (the
option Switch to Classic View should appear in the left pane), click
Performance and Maintenance and System. If the Control Panel is being
displayed in the Classic View (the option Switch to Category View should
appear in the left pane), double-click System
    c. Select Hardware and then Device Manager.
Your player should be listed under Windows Portable Devices. Please
check if the computer sees it as a MTP Device.
If there is an error or a yellow exclamation mark next to the device,
right click the player listing and select Update driver.
Alternati'vely, you can uninstall the device, and reinstall it. Highlight
the MTP player listing, and press the Delete key on your keyboard, which
will uninstall the MTP device; click Actions ,and then click Scan for
hardware changes. Windows will install the necessary drivers.
    That worked fine for me.

  • Keyboard works on one computer but not the other

I have an aluminum wireless keyboard that came with my Mac Pro (Early 2008). Some time ago, it just stopped working. I tested the bluetooth mouse and a few other bluetooth peripherals to check that it wasn't the Mac Pro's bluetooth that was malfunctioning. I was convinced that the keyboard was broken, and was about to take it to the Apple Store to get it fixed when I thought that maybe I should test the keyboard on another computer. When I did that, it worked perfectly, but it still does not work with my Mac Pro. I've tried changing the batteries and removing the pairing from my Mac Pro. When I try to re-pair it, the Mac Pro is unable to discover it. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • My home share is not working i have tried everything it works on one computer but not the other help!

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes i have tried messing with my avast and I cant get anything to work please help me! it works on another computer in the house but everytime i try to click on his library it says it loading his library and then stops and goes to my music. plz help!

When normally powering the phone, there would not be a loading bar, you would just see the Apple logo. You can try a reset of the phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot.
You can take the phone to Apple, by making an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the hardware checked. Apple handles warranty and post-warranty issues, not Verizon. Have Apple look at the hardware to see if there are any problems.

  • ICal Subscription Works On One Computer But Not The Other

I subscribed to a web based iCal subscription. The subscription refreshes on my Mac Mini but not on my desktop, which is connected to my iPhone. The iPhone therefore doesn't get the subscription contents either. I've tried deleting and resubscribing but nothing works.
