Lack of customize presets in PrE 8

I wonder what would be the best solution for editing 23,976fps FullHD footage in PrE 8? Because of the lack of making own presets my only option is using 25fps timecode. When outputting I can choose the 23,976fps, but not in preset. :-(
Two related questions: have you heard that there would be a fix to get customize presets in this editing program? And does it really affectto the result  if I use lower resolution preset and 25fps instead of 23,76 as I thought it was a preview affected thing only...
Thanks for answering!
-Mike

I appreciate your answers. I have used very many video editing software (Pinnacle, Corel Video studio, Magix) but I really like the PrE becuase the "touch" of its big brother, Premiere Pro series. But I end up feeling that I will need in some point this "big brother" to do what I need.
But in the meanwhile ending to that, I try convert my h.264 format to more editable format with www.squared5.com mpegstreamclip-program which seems to handle converting quite smoothly and quick. I also will use only 25p mode in filming from now on, although 23,973fps gives quite nice film-like motion. I just wonder why my finishing rendering wont work; it doesnt render it smoothly even though whole process seems to end up well.
But well, it is totally a different problem. I just continue solving these problems cause I dont want to change my editing software. And not even sure that it would even help; every software I have used has had its own problems. And I really like this PrE 8 otherwise.

ps. odd, I found out that in dv-mode preset (same avhcd material) is finished and rendered fine! If we dont count the loss of pixels of course. Some how it just wont work in FullHD 25p project settings

  • Export preset not pre-selected. why?

I can’t figure out where the problem lies. We have set up a preset for our mxf exports, but it is not pre-selected in the Premiere export window. Instead one of the AVC-Intra settings is selected. Is there a way to change and save this?
I tried to select our preset, export from it, close the project and open again. But AVC intra is pre selected again.

OK, I've found a new work around that appears to solve the problem.
    - Under the Aperture menu, select Preferences
    - Click the Export Tab
    - From the Email Photo Export Preset drop-down menu select Edit
    - Click on the Email Small - JPEG (or whatever preset you want to use) and drag it to the top of the list. You will see purple bars appear as you drag it up. make sure this preset is first in the list of presets
Now whenever you open Aperture 3, and click Email, it will use the preset you've selected.
This still looks like a bug where the program always defaults to emailing pictures using the export preset that is on top of the export preset list.

  • HD footage is poor quality in SD preset. Why?

    Hi folks,
I usually work in HD and, hence, use an HD preset. However, in my current project I'm using mostly captured VHS, with just a little bit of HD footage here and there. I want the aspect ratio of the finished piece to be 4:3 (i.e. to suit the captured VHS footage). To accomplish this, I've selected the SD (720x480 DV) preset. However, the HD footage lacks clarity in this sequence pre-set (it looks fine if I use an HD sequence). Is there some other approach I could use to get my HD footage to look good in a 4:3 aspect ratio? Or, am I just doing something wrong?
    Thanks very much!
    Vixter

Thanks a million, Tom. I know one thing: digital is a lot more complicated than analog! A lot cooler, and a lot more powerful. But much more complicated. There are no standards! And, even if there were any, they'd be changed tomorrow!
Would you be kind enough to answer one more question for me?
I'm creating a video for my family for Christmas. If I was creating only one version (for myself), I would de-interlace and just show it to them on my HDTV. However, I would like to give each of them a copy on DVD. Do I need to make two versions? (i.e. a de-interlaced one to show on my HDTV and an interlaced one for them to watch on their regular televisions?)
    Thank you so much!

  • Premiere Elements 9 Preset & Plugin Issues

    Hey Forum!
I've recently upgraded from Pre 7 to Pre 9. All of my effect presets and third party plugins did not transfer over
from Pre 7 to Pre 9. I've copied my 3rd party plugin folder to Pre 9, and the plugins load, but they are no where
to be found on the FX screen. What am I doing wrong?
Also, I had about 10 user presets that I created in Pre 7, and would like to use them with Pre 9. I've tried copying
the VBR file (I saw this suggestion in another post), but that didn't work either.
If anyone could help me out, that would be great. I appreciate all of your time, efforts, and support. I normally can
figure this stuff out on my own, but I'm at my wits end. Thanks again!
    MichaelWarbux

Just a guess here, but many 3rd party Effects need an installation routine to function, though some can just be copied over to the appropriate directory. Which 3rd party Effects are you referring to here?
As for Project Presets (assume that is what you are talking about here), I believe that there are some differences between the Project Presets in PrE 7 vs PrE 9. Others can probably confirm, or deny that.
    Good luck,

  • HD 30p (progressive) export presets for download here

    Hello
A couple of days ago I asked about exporting HD  1920 x 1080  (and also 1280 x 960) in progressive mode. All the full HD presets in PrE 8 are interlaced.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/645628?tstart=30
Thanks to AT Romano guidance, I created all the export presets I needed, which I provide here for download, if anybody wants them.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U7IMK7NA
You have to un-zip them and put them here
    C:\Documents and Settings\your-username\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Elements\8.0\SC\Presets\PC\MPEG\HD
    There are 2 MP4 presets (H.264 + AAC) and 2 MPEG2 presets:
    HD MP4 1280x960 30p.epr
    HD MP4 1920x1080 30p.epr
    HD MPEG2 1280x960 30p.epr
    HD MPEG2 1920x1080 30p.epr

I have one questions concerning these. I am running Windows 7 64bit with PE8, Where should I put unzip these files too?
    the directory you described:
    C:\Documents and Settings\your-username\Application Data\Adobe\Premiere Elements\8.0\SC\Presets\PC\MPEG\HD
does not exist on my computer.
I tried to look and see if I had any comparable folders but i'm not finding them.
Anyone have any idea where a Windows 7 user can unzip these brilliant life-saving files too?

  • 720P 120FPS Sequence Preset

    Hey
I'm running Premiere Pro CS6 v6, Installed latest updates, Windows 7 64bit, My source footage is H.264 in a .MP4 format. I'm using a Go Pro Hero 3 Black edition at 720P, 120FPS.
Is it possible to create a sequence preset for the Go Pro Hero 3 at 720P 120FPS and/or for all the other Resolutions and FPS?
    Kind Regards
    Toby

if you interprat footage to 24fps then the whole clip is changed to 24fps. thats fine if you want to slow down the whole clip. But what if you do not.
as far as my comment "Not sure why people will always assume they know best instead of just answering the question"
It was becuase it seemed like the topic was getting off on a tagent of "Why would you want to do that", and "Most hardware will not support it" etc etc instead of just answering the question.
yes the only reason even I can think of using 120 or 240 its to for slow-mo but that does not mean you may want to slow down the whole clip, you may just not want to have to stop recording everytime and through your camra in 30fps for all your shots you dont want to slow down, if your wearing a gopro and think you may want to slow down a shot as you go off a jump or something, your not going to want to take it off to change the settings while your out there catching a wave, or skiing down a hill. You will record it at 120 and slow down the parts you want and keep the others normal.
But as the Adobe Staff parson stated....
Premiere Pro's renderer is framerate agnostic, don't let the lack of sequence presets stop you. Dragging a 120fps clip to the new sequence icon and internally it will be treated as 120fps.
Which is 100% correct by the way.
    this statemnet
No it doesn't - as I said it will create a 59.94 sequence and the clip will play back at half-speed.
    Is not correct.. AT ALL
If you create a sequence from a clip at 120 or 240fps it WILL create a sequence at that frame rate.
you can the edit your footage as normal, you can the slow down the parts you want and everything is there.
My point is was it seems a lot of people got of on a tangent of saying. "What would you ever want to do that for" instead of just saying how to do it.
and how to do it is "Create a sequence from the clip"
As the Adobe Staff person stated.
    well he said
Premiere Pro's renderer is framerate agnostic, don't let the lack of sequence presets stop you. Dragging a 120fps clip to the new sequence icon and internally it will be treated as 120fps.
but thats the same as right clicking on the clip in the project and selecting "create squence from clip"
Sorry If i came across critcal it was not my intention I was just making an observation.
And regard to putting a 240 into a 24, i was referring to doing that only after you had finished slowing down any of the parts you wanted to.
If you had a master squence at 24fps or 30 or whatever, that contained what would be the final version of all your clips put together, justt dragging a 240 fps to it would drop frames, but you had alreaded edited your footage on the 240fps sequence and you had already doubled, trippled or whatever any of the frames where you changed the duration of the clip so it will look fine when you move it to a 24fps seq after any time changes were done in the 240fps sequence.

  • PreE Templates to Encore

Does anyone have a step by step tutorial on how to "transfer", for lack of a better word, PrE Menu Sets. Converting those and even cleaning them up for use in Encore....
    Thanks!
I have PreE 8, and now Master Collection cs5......

Thank you SO VERY MUCH!! this is exactly what I meant, and I needed!

    Subject: PreE Templates to Encore
PrE Menu Sets are but PSD files, however, they have slightly different naming conventions for the Button Layer Sets, since PrE does the authoring in a semi-automatic fashion. Also, they have the text for all Buttons in every supported language. You only need the language of your system.
The easiest way to "convert" those Menu Sets to the exact conventions used in Encore is to Open one of the two Menus (I'd start with the Main Menu to keep things simple to start) in PS, with the Layer Sets twirled Open. Go through each Button, and just Delete the Layers with the additional languages. This is not mandatory, as long as you change the Visibility of the ones that you need to the correct language, but it WILL tidy things up, and for the next step, you will appreciate that. Now, also Open one of the Encore Menus (choose one that has many of the same Buttons) in PS, and look carefully at the naming conventions of that Menu. You will see some other characters in the PrE version. Change those to match the naming conventions in the Encore Menu. Many of those characters help PrE decide which Buttons will be needed in the semi-automatic authoring. Encore will be lost with some of those. Use the Encore Menu as your guide.
When you have Deleted those extra characters, and checked that you have added any necessary for Encore, do a Save_As from PS, to a separate folder. Repeat for the Scene Selection Sub-Menu. The PNG's will not be needed, as they are in PrE, so I would not bother with those.
Check carefully that you have the correct settings for Standard, and WideScreen, so that the PAR's are correct for your Projects. Note: many PrE Menu Sets are designed for PAL, so if you are in NTSC-land, you will want to check how these Menus behave in an NTSC Project. Most are designed to just Crop in NTSC, and the design elements are within the Cropped area. PrE does this automatically, if one is doing an NTSC Project, but Encore has no automation, so watch for issues there. If you ARE in NTSC, I would actually Crop in PS to make sure that everything matches my Projects. I'd also make sure that I had a Wide and a Standard version, if one does some 16:9 and some 4:3 Projects. In Encore, choose the correct one, so that the PAR will be correct.
When all is done, and has been tested, just Move that folder, with your edited Menus, to the Encore Library folder hierarchy. I have one sub-folder, Hunt, in which I have all of my created Menus, and Templates, with their Assets. When I am in the Library Panel in En, I just choose it from the drop-down. For me, I only work on NTSC Projects, so will create my Menus with that in mind. If needed, I will create both a Widescreen and a Standard version. I also make sure to NOT have any spaces in my Menu names, and use the underscore (_) instead. Also, I keep the Menu file names pretty short too. Those in PrE are rather long, and many characters can usually be removed from them, and still have a logical name.
Also remember that in Encore, if you need, say 4 Sub-Menus, you will need to include all 4 in the Project. Back in PrE, the necessary number will be generated for you, based on the number of Chapter Markers in the Project. In Encore, you do that work.
Good luck, and hope that this helps,

  • Customizable AoTuV5 codec?

    Hi,
My name is Raymond and I am quite new with Adobe Audition and will be buying it as soon as the trial runs out. I had a question about saving OGG vorbis files. I think the pre-packaged encoder is all right, and I loved the customizability of that thing. But I'd like to start using AoTuV5 because of its med/low-bitrate tuning and q -2 support, and although I can find an AoTuV filter, all I get is control over VBR and ABR, min, target, and max bitrates. Is there an AoTuV filter that is more customizable like the pre-packaged encoder is, with control over the byt reservoir, lowpass filter, and things like that?
Thanks and have a happy Easter!

Well I did find something--a frontend for Ogg Vorbis called Oggifier which I am now using.

  • Premiere 8.0 vs. Premiere Pro

My collection of home videos consists of over 200 hours of video. Eventually, I plan to burn to DVDs and distribute to family members.
Obviously, the best quality and flexibilty is important.
Is the Pro verion worth the extra expense?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Steve,
For me, the difference is great enough to justify the expense, but that is a decision that you will need to make.
Based on the outline of your Project, I kind of doubt that it would be, but let me try to outline some of the pluses and minuses between the two programs. This will be rough, as I do not have a full feature list of each NLE program in front of me, and much will be predicated on how I use each program. This will also be based on PrPro CS5 and PrE 8. None of us knows what PrE 9 might bring.
PrPro offers Sequences, which are like mini-Projects under the umbrella of a master Project. PrE does not allow for this, but most do not really need the Sequences, as the single Project works well for them, and there are simple workarounds, if one wishes to burn a DVD/BD from multiple PrE Projects. For me, the ability to edit my "chapters/scenes" as separate Sequences is very important. I have one Project with 24 Sequences, which are the "chapters" in a family history. I do the same thing with most Projects. For many, PrE would still work fine, but for that big one, I would not want to give up my Sequences for anything, as it keeps me totally organized, and that is important, as I know none of the history of this family, or even any of the family members. One benefit of Sequences is that they can be setup for different source material, so that one can easily edit AVCHD along with HDV, or even RED footage, all in the same Project.
PrPro offers true Multi-cam editing, and that is a bit tougher in PrE.
PrPro has just added Presets for DSLR cameras, but I suspect that PrE will in the next version.
PrPro offers the Desktop Preset, which allows one to customize most attributes in a Preset. One has to write such custom Presets for PrE.
PrPro now offers the ability to just drag source footage to the New Icon, and the program will automatically write the necessary Sequence Preset and set it up, ready to go.
Import of source footage is very similar, but PrPro has more pro-level capabilities, like RED footage.
PrPro is ONLY 64-bit, so it is now quite fast, and will not run on a 32-bit OS - only 64-bit. PrE is a 32-bit app., and will run well on either a 32-bit, or 64-bit OS.
PrPro has more professional Effects than PrE, but many more "mainstream" Effects exist in each program. Transitions are almost the same. Some of PrE's Effects are Auto, while there is almost always a "manual" version too in PrPro.
PrPro has more Audio Effects, than does PrE. Also, PrPro will Export to DD 5.1 SS, but that does require an optional US$ 250 plug-in encoder from Minnetonka, the SurCode encoder. Both can Import and edit DD 5.1 SS, but PrE is limited to just 2-channel Audio Export, like PrPro without that optional plug-in.
There are more 3rd party plug-ins for PrPro, but then PrE comes with some that PrPro does not, like the NewBlueFX.
Much more is done by Presets, like Title animation, and even the application of Transitions, in PrE. In PrPro, almost everything is done by hand. That is the same as with the DVD/BD authoring app. Encore, but I'll cover that in a moment.
The views in PrE are a bit more limited, than in PrPro, where almost everything can be completely customized. Now, PrE allows some GUI customization, just not as much as with PrPro.
PrPro allows Track Locking, and can easily turn-on/off visibility, or can Mute an Audio Track from the Timeline. With PrE, one can do the Mute, but should do so from the Audio Mixer.
With DVD/BD authoring, PrE does things in a semi-automatic way. It is simple to do, and there are many graphic elements in the way of Menu Sets, but the authoring capabilities are limited. That is the trade-off for that semi-automation. PrPro cannot author a DVD/BD, but ships with a great program for that task, Encore. It is fully manual - you have to do everything by hand - zero automation, but it is extremely powerful. Many PrE users, who migrate to PrPro and Encore, really hate having to do even the most simple things by hand. OTOH, I like the ultimate control that Encore provides, and would never give it up.
In the end, it boils down to ease of use for common editing tasks with PrE, but one sacrifices the additional power of PrPro. However, if one does not need that extra power and flexibility, they have just spent money that will not give much of a ROI (Return on Investment).
Now, if your Video footage is highly mixed, then PrPro would be the better way to go. If it's miniDV tape, then PrE will do a fine job with it (plus many other formats too, but mixing them can be a real issue).
There are other features, but I'm not sure if any of those would figure into things here.
Hope that this helps your decision,
    Hunt

  • Metadata sets

Is there a way to create a metadata preset that hides from view all unused metadata fields, thereby showing only the fields needed for a particular project?

In the metadata panel, you can choose from different categories of metadata to be displayed, but these are not customizable presets.
A metadata preset in Lightroom is pre-filled values for the various metadata fields.

  • Renew subscription EVERY time I launch an app??

Hey guys, I was asked by the AdobeCare Twitter Account to post my issue in this forum, so here I am:
I recently subscribed to a Adobe CC membership and everything worked fine when I had the CS6.
Now since the CC Versions were released, I wanted to update of course. So I did.
Since then I am constantly haveing the same issue: I can not launch an app without having to do so many steps!
Here is what I have to do in order to open up any app (I have to do this EVERY time I launch an app..meaning when I open PS I do this, when I open ID I do this etc)
    1) I click on the icon of the app (in this example PS)
    2) I get the following "error":
(it is asking me to renew my subscription)
    3) I click on "try again" and I get this message:
(it says "Thank you, your subscription for CC is now activated")
    4) I click on "Continue" and get this message (again):
So I click on "Do you have another Adobe-ID?" and get to see this window:
... where I type in my Password and click on "Sign in" resulting in this:
and finally after clicking on "accept" in this:
...which basically is the same windows I get to see right at the beginning.
At this point I want to mention again that I have to do this  e v e r y t i m e  I start an app, for each app I have to run through all of these steps and if I close an app by accident and re-open it, I have to do this again.
I already tried to delete that file in the OOBE folder, did not work out.
Also, I am lacking all the presets in Premiere Pro (Digital DSLR etc) which makes me think, that all of my apps are running in trial mode..? At least I had this issue, when I launched Premiere as a trial in the past.
Don't get me wrong..But this is totally annoying and kills my workflow.
Any help? I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks and greets from Germany!
    Danilo

On the device that you don't want the apps to be downloaded on, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Automatic Downloads. Once you turn that off, your problem will be fixed.

  • Captivate and Flash

    Hi,
I have set up a navigation bar in flash rather than using the
in built captivate navigation bar, and then I load my captivate
into the flash movie. For the next button I am using
rdcmndNextSlide = 1; and for pause rdcmndPause = 1; etc.
I want to have a button that will open the menu in captivate,
does anyone know if there is a command I can use in Flash to
achieve this? The only menu related command in captivate I can see
is cpLockTOC which locks the menu into position, but not one to
    open or close it.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Unfortunately there is no command / variable to open or close
the TOC menu. You are stuck with the way it was programmed by
    Adobe.
I recommend that you suggest the feature to Adobe using this
    form:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=5
The TOC and lack of customization possibilities have been
discussed alot amongst Captivate users so the more people that
report these issues to Adobe - the better the chance of getting a
    fix ;o)

I strongly recommend you use compressor to do the conversion (if it will open the files - since quicktime will open them, it will more than likely do it.
Compressor allows you to customize presets and save them and apply them to multiple files.  Although the interface may seem daunting, it's actually pretty simple.
Even if you can edit the avi in fcp, it's not a good idea.  Liable to cause problems down the road.

  • Looking for iPhone Security App Similar to Droid's Lookout Mobile Security

I'm a droid user, and because of the iPhone's one button and lack of customization I will most likely always be one. My sister however (even though she loves the droid) kept getting phones that after a few months stopped working. We aren't too sure why, I've never had a problem, but she always does.
Anyway we decided she should switch to iPhone and she is loving it. However I know my sister and she loses her phone constantly. On Droid the Lookout App allows you to locate your phone, back up your phone, 'scream' (in which your phone flashes it's LED and emits an increasingly louder siren to help you find it), lock (making it unuseable if stolen) and a 'wipe' feature that wipes out all your information from the phone if it lands in hands you can't retrieve from.
Now I saw on here that there is already phone backup provided by Apple and a few of these features already but I'm mainly looking for an app (or apps) that can perform the screaming, locating, phone lock and phone wipe feature.
Does anything like this exist? I know a lot of people seem to feel that what LookOut provides isn't needed on the iPhone but I just would feel safer if we could get these features on her new phone.

  • Photo Gallery page on iWeb - Sharing some experience....

I am an Aperture user and my starting point was to create nice web photo galleries from Aperture...
    - I got quickly frustrated with the lack of customization of the standard Aperture Web pages (font, color, size...).
    - Aperture 2.1 MobileMe galleries are a bit better but not what i wanted either.
    - Then i found out that i could easily export photos from Aperture to iPhoto, and then from iPhoto to iWeb, and that iWeb would offer me more customization options.
    - Following that route, i imported my Aperture photos into iPhoto, then used the Share/Send to iWeb/Photo Page function.
    - Having some experience using iWeb, i was able to customize the template somehow, but got frustrated by the apparently fixed web page size, which at first seemed to stick to a 700x480 format for the photo gallery... and i would like to show the pics at around 1200x1200....
    - Until i played with the Album style pop up window and found that depending on the style chosen, the photo gallery size could expand up to 1200 pix width ! (that with the Album style which is on 1st column/3rd row). But then double clicking on thumbnails would randomly expand the given picture to between 700 and 1200 pix width...
This is where i got to. Now a few questions, if you're still with me :
    - Am i correct to assume that there is no direct interface available between Aperture and iWeb, and that i need to use this iPhoto intermediate step?
    - Has anyone found a way to fully customize the size of photo galleries in iWeb (both for the thumbnail display area and for the magnified picture area)?
    - If not, can someone point me to a comprehensive resource detailing the iWeb template creation steps ?
Thanks in advance, and to add a wish : could Mr Apple think of standardizing/optimizing/improving the web gallery generation process across its platform for the next versions ?

I've read in this forum that Aperture has a setting to make it's photos available to other iApps, see this post, via the Media browser but not galleries created by it in the Web Snippet menu, see the last post in this topic.
