Laptop for Data Collection

Does anyone have used Laptop with NI-IMAQ to collect data ? And if yes, what kind of hardware required (PCI, PCX...) ?  Thanks.

nimaq,
One of my more astute coworkers (a know it all, so he thinks, hehe), reminded me that we do sell a PCMCIA/Cardbus PXI Chassis controller and a ExpressCard PXI controller (if you have a computer with an ExpressCard slot).
Cardbus controller link...
NI PXI-CardBus8310
ExpressCard controller link...
NI PXI-ExpressCard8360
If you buy a PXI controller for your Laptop, a PXI Chassis, and a PXI digital frame grabber, then you will have a system that allows you to grab images from your digital camera via your Laptop.  If you have not yet purchased a Laptop, I highly recommend you purchase a Laptop with an ExpressCard slot (they have much higher bandwidth) which you will want for frame grabbing.
Below is a Link to a 4 slot PXI Chassis...
NI PXI-1031
Below is a Link to a Digital PXI Frame grabber...
NI PXI-1422
Buying these 3 products (PXI-ExpressCard8360, PXI-1031, and the PXI-1422) and the proper laptop, will give you a top of the line digital camera acquisition system.

  • Calculations for data collection

    Hi,
In 'formula' type parameter for data collection, for the first time when operator enters values, the formula parameter does the calculation and give results.
However, if later on the same data is edited, then the calculations donot take place and operator himself has to calculate and update the field.
foreg: P1 and P2 are 2 parameters under 1 DC group.
    P3=P1+P2.
When operator enters for the first time values for P1 and P2, P3 gets calculated. However, If later on values for P1 and P2 are edited through 'data collection edit' activity, P3 calculations donot change and operator has to calculate it and re-enter in P3 field.
This is my understanding, please correct me if these calculations automatically takeplace whenever the base values are edited .
    Thanks.

  • Planning & Consolidation Questionnaires for Data Collection

    Hi Friends,
I need some help on the following documents.
*1.Does any body have Planning & consolidation Questionnaires for Data collection (information gathering)*
*2.Document on BPC integration with Other systems
    Regards,
    Mcs.Chowdary

    VenK7337,
Could you show your python code. so we know what your are "writing" to the ethernet port?
That way we can see what you are receiving.
Parsing the incoming data (from the TCP-read) depends heavily on the device that sends it, and can not generically be described. LabVIEW has many byte (and even bit) manipulation functions to convert many different data formats to its own build in formats.
So after the TCP listener is connected, you are constantly reading from the established connection (until it gets broken of course). More advanced example would be the internet toolkit if oyu have it.
From the read characters (and I hope you designed a protocol with a clear starting character, ending character and maybe even a build in checksum) you parse the data and perform you action, and of course generate a reply. Again the internet toolkit is a good example. It parsed the input as it comes it, based on the HTTP format. Then generates the reply based on the request received.
These days I would suggest not to use binairy encoded numerics. Try and use XML formatted data. Yes, it causes a lot of overhead. But typically this is not an issue and makes the code a lot more portable and maintainable. Also makes it easier to interface with other languages/platforms.
Umless of course you are looking at Khz data rates, then XML is not th preferred choice.
    Hope this helps...

  • BPMon Setup: Check user for data collection

    Dear experts,
I'm trying to configure Business Process Monitoring in our Solution Manager system and I'm stuck in the step "Check User for Data Collection". See screenshot. I mark this row and click on "Execute Selected". A background job is scheduled and finishes after some 6 seconds, But this step is still marked as "Activity not yet performed". Any idea how this can be solved? I read the documentation, notes and the troubleshooting guide but found nothing about this specific problem.
    Many thanks for any help!
    Calin

    Hi Calin
The status will remain grey as long as there are clients in the managed system that have not been connected to the Solution Manager.
However, if there are clients the you would not like to connect to Solman on purpose, he can simply set the execution status to “manually performed”, then the activity will be set to green. I have attached some screen shots from a test system so you can see what I mean.

  • Create New Operations for data collection(View Object)

ADF data collection(View Object) supports Create, CreateInsert, Delete, etc operations.
And would like to add more operations like clear, etc. How do i create my own operation and add it to data control for all the view objects in the data control.
    Thanks
    JP

    hi esjp2000
I'm not sure what kind or "clear operation" you are looking for, but I recently asked about a "clear search" in this forum thread:
" ADF BC : "clear search" using executeEmptyRowSet() "
ADF BC : "clear search" using executeEmptyRowSet()
It is about the executeEmptyRowSet() method, and that might not be what you are looking for. (It might not even be what I am looking for because it is undocumented and that is what my question is about and I haven't had an aswer yet.)
But ... it does provide an example of a "service method" Shay is referring to, in the example application:
    http://verveja.footsteps.be/~verveja/files/oracle/ClearSearchStuff-v0.01.zip
(So, the specific service method implementation, "ScottServiceImpl.executeEmptyRowSetOnEmpWithParamsVOVI()" in the example, would be different in your case, depending on the specific "clear operation" you are looking for.)

  • Use of Audio In on laptop for Data Acquisition

I'd like to use the Audio In on a laptop to acquire 500 point per second data in a biomed experiment. Where to I get a driver or whatever code I can use to access the audio in on my laptop (a HP). I'm using Labview for windows.

I've used the "audio in" to determine a fan's RPM, using a microphone. The problem I see with your application idea is the slow sample rate required. I believe choices are 11K, 22K or 44.1K samples per second for the audio input drivers - at least the version I've used. An example of an ocilloscope using the audio sound card drivers can be found at:
    http://www.yelmtel.com/~joej/vis/scsco.zip
Perhaps you can modify this to suit.

  • Interfacing two SAP systems for data collection

    hi,
A scenario. i have two sap systems, one is 4.7 and another is ECC. based on one value in 4.7 i want to collect data from ecc. this has to happen thru XI. so shud i write a function module in ecc which takes as parameter the input value and picks data from database and exports the same and enable this function module as RFC ?
so then from XI this function module can be called with the required input parameter ? can anyone give me the code/steps or how to do this ?
    thks

    Hello,
why do you want to use XI? I would create a RFC-enabled FM in the ECC system and a RFC destination (transaction SM59) in the 4.7 system (calling the ECC system). Then create a report in the 4.7 system, getting the value and calling the RFC in the ECC system via:
    CALL FUNCTION <RFC function> DESTINATION <RFC-destination>

  • Acrobat 9-Want to use single form, not for data collection

I have created a form that I want to give to my employees using Acrobat 9 Pro. The only options I see are to send the files and let them use them to re-submit. I don't need the information back. This is merely a checklist of information that they can keep for themselves for the project they are on. It will be stored on the file server accessable and editable at any time. If I save the form and open it from somewhere else using Adobe Reader, I can fill in the form fine, but if I save it after having changed it, it loses its "Advanced" form functions (mostly checkboxes and textboxes) and I cannot edit the form anymore.
I just want to be able to create a form that can be opened, then "save as" for each employee to save their own copy per job.
    Thanks!

  • Data collection table in database

    Hi,
In our SAP ME WIP databse we are not able to see the parameter values for data collection ,as entered by operator.
We tried searchin in WIP db as system rule setting for '
Store Data Collection Results in ODS ' is false.
Are there any other settings apart from those mentioned in "how-to-guide" for datacollection that stores data in ODS database?
Or are we going wrong somewhere?
Attached is the reccomended landscape that we have used in our project.

I think this post is in the wrong forum, but what table are you looking in for your data?
Did you figure out the answer to this problem?

  • Report Manager - Data collection

    Hi,
I'm having problems with data collection on a number of servers.
Essentially, I've configured data logging on a number of servers
by creating a job in the 'Manage jobs' window, using the task type
'data logging' and running it against a number of hosts.
Unfortunately, when I look at the 'data collection' window via report
manager, a number of host entries have an excamation mark attached
which implies that data has not been collected. If I look at the attribute editor for one of the logged entries on an affected server, the history tab
clearly states that the 'Save History as Disk_File' is ticked.
    Any ideas?

I have also seen this issue. Some of these issues were fixed by checking
DNS. For data collection to work both forward and reverse DNS must work
for the agent. If there is a mismatch or missing DNS it doesn't work.
If there is a mismatch in DNS sometimes a re-discovery is required.

  • Data collection task in Update mode is not posible with Original list

    Hi Friends,
When I try to Execute the Task for data collection in sa38.I am getting the Error with in 9 sec.
UPDATE MODE IS NO POSSIBLE WITH ORIGINAL LIST
    Message No. UCS0111
    Diagnosis :
If you select the indicator"original list"the current task status is ignored. In this case, the system simulates a task run in with all of the organisational units are not yet blocked. Thus, setting this indicator is meaningful and valid only if the task is executed in test mode at tthe same time.
procedure : select the original list & Test run together.
My problem is I can not select the Test run in production  server.
Can any one please help me to solve the Issue.

I Thank you all for Responding to me.
    Hi Dan,

Iam trying to run the task with SA38 for Data Collection.
    Hi Lucio,
When I Check the Fields Both the  Log & Original list . The programe gives an error message "UPDATE MODE IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH ORIGINAL LIST"
Even when I tried with Log,Test Run & Original List Iam getting the Same error Message "UPDATE MODE IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH ORIGINAL LIST"
I can run the task Successfully with selecting the Log option only. But my Client need  to Use both Log & Original list ( as they used to run in BIW 3.5 ) Now it we are using BI 7.
    Hi Christopher,
We are running the programe UCBATCH01,with the T code SA38.

  • SAP ME Data Collection setup

    Hello Experts!
We are trying to set up data collection for following scenario:
Typically our order quantity can vary from 1000 - 5000 pcs and we want to create only one SFC per shop order. We want to collect data after a fixed number of pcs are reported, for example, after every 100 pcs reported. So in above example number of iterations for data collection could vary from 10 - 50.
We see that there are two fields "Required Data Entries" & "Optional Data Entries" in the Data Collection parameter detail tab but looks like those are for static values but we want this to change based on order quantity.
Also we noticed another issue with these fields for our scenario, if we use "Required Data Entries" field then user has to collect all the iterations together but that is not possible since we are collecting after reporting a certain qty. If we use "Optional Data Entries" then system allow the user to collect multiple times but the pop-up does not indicate how many iterations are already collected which is confusing for the users.
Has anyone else had any experience with a similar scenario?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Venkat

    Hello Venkat,
To collect data against the same SFC several times you should enable the corresponding System Rule 'Allow Multiple Data Colelction'. The "Optional Data Entries" rather controls the number of optional entries that you can enter (i.e. you measure temperature of SFC and need to enter several measures for a single Data Collection).
As long as you enable the system rule, it will be up to you when to collect it. But there is no standard functionality to force it after certain Qty of SFC processed. You'll need a customization for it.
    Br, Alex.

  • ECCS : Data Collection tasks

    Hello Gurus,
I want to customize my system so that manual entries tasks, flexible upload and rollup tasks are the ONLY available tasks into the "Data Collection task".
However, the system default an option called "Additional financial data" where "supplier data" can be imported whereas I did not customize anything about this option. I don't find the solution to delete this option into my "data Collection task" layout.
Do you have any solution for me?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Best regards
    Pascal

Hello Dan and thank you for this first reply,
    - For "data collection" task group I don't have the possibility to define the tasks to be used or not (the system apply his logic depending on different custo parameters).
    - Regarding the "profit-in-inventory" option into the dimension, the system only gives the options to set the product group usage as as an independent characteristic or existing custom characteristic but there is no option that indicates the profit-in-inventory as not being implemented...
Is there anything else I should check? If yes, could you please give me more details?
Thank you in advance for your help
    best regards

  • Data Collection Set 'Server Activity' Failure Waiting on a kernel object(s) failed. Inner Error ------------------ The handle is invalid.

All of the system data collection sets have been running for 6+ months without any issues, couple of weeks ago the 'Server Activity' collection set failed to restart after a planned maintenance server reboot.
When attempting to manually start the collection set it indicates "success", but after refreshing the collection set it showing as stopped. Viewing the logs for the Data Collection (Server Activity) I am getting the message:
Waiting on a kernel object(s) failed. Inner Error ------------------>
    The handle is invalid.
After some research into this really unhelpful message I came across one posting where this error has been found to occur in SP1. We are running SP2 which include the fix so this shouldn't be the problem (ref http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/585210/sql-server-2008-data-collection-execmasterpackage-timeout).
To see more detail on the root cause of the error I enabled the additional tracing for data collection (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlagent/archive/2011/07/13/enabling-additional-tracing-for-data-collector.aspx). This provided an exception stack which indicated
that the issue was thrown to what looks like an existing file, referring to a location (e:\) which doesn't exist in our system.

I am now stumped as I haven't found anyone else experiencing this issue.
    Any ideas, please help??

Thanks for the pointer Eileen, problem solved.
Can't believe I missed it, but after reading the last section on system hangs it occurred to me that I hadn't checked that all dcexec.exe processes were killed when I disable the data collection service.
For anyone else experiencing this issue I identified the dcexec.exe processes using the following in cmd line:
    TASKLIST /SVC /FI "IMAGENAME EQ DCEXEC.EXE"
On the default setup of the data collection there should be two dcexec.exe processes constantly running, one for "Server Activity" and another for "Query Statistics". On our server there were five running with the data collection disabled.
After killing all of the processes and restarting the data collection problem solved!!
Still need to understand why the processes didn't shut down cleanly when the server was restarted, but at least I know where to look now.

  • Is there any one who knows how to apply machine learning algorithms to the spectrum data collected using ni usrp for ism band to use spectrum efficiently by link adaptation

    Hi,
may i know any one working in cognitive radio research and applying machine learning techniques using the spectrum data collected from NI usrp kits

Can't edit my message anymore, so for the tldr crowd (too long didn't read), here is a shorter version:
    The good:
E4200 worked fine for about 15 hours with great throughput and link quality (with one brief disconnect in the middle - online gaming software shows brief disconnects that otherwise go totally unnoticed).
    The bad:
Wireless on the E4200 stopped broadcasting entirely (to a Windows 7 laptop with a 802.11n 2.4 GHZ USB adapter).
I had switched between two adapters that use the same chipset, same driver and in fact show up as a single device in device manager) without rebooting the router but it worked (fine) for an hour after I swapped the adapters.
Right before I rebooted it, I checked and the E4200 was not hot to the touch and wired internet was still working after the wireless radio stopped working.
A reboot of the router cured it.
The open question as to the root cause:
Now I want to know whether this wireless radio ceasing to broadcast (requires a reboot of the E4200) will happen daily?
I.e. I want to know whether it it really is overheating (then again why would only some have that problem needing to reboot daily while others have gone weeks with the E4200 without a single reboot being needed and without any problems occurring) or whether it had to do with changing the adapters back and forth without rebooting the router. Keep in mind that the router worked fine for an hour or so after I stopped swapping the adapters.
    Extra question:
Will getting a Cisco AE1000 USB adapter perhaps help? (I know this is a loaded question and their is no easy / sure answer, but even a "maybe" or reasons why it might help at this point would be better than nothing.
Any similar experiences (with the router needing to be rebooted to get wireless radio back on) would be appreciated as it may help myself and others experiencing these types of issues.
