Laptop works BUT the screen will not turn on

I have a Macbook Pro 15'' intel from 2007. Two days ago I closed the top and when I re-opened it a minute or two later the screen was black. Thinking it was just asleep I mashed on the keys - nothing. Yesterday I feared it was a issue with the computer. Thankfully though I have successfully log in (blindly) and was able to use a hot key to open iTunes and start playing music, proving that the computer itself was alright, but the screen was busted.
Does anybody have an idea of what I can do to get the screen back on? Could it possible be a problem with the activation switch that turns the moniter on and off? (is this problem covered in my Apple Care warrenty?)

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Apple won't replace an iPhone under warranty if the iPhone has been opened/tinkered with by you or by a 3rd party, but they may under Apple's out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price.

The simplest operation your Mac can do is start up with the Option key held down. The code is all in ROM. It uses a One size fits all resolution to light up the display and draw an icon for each potentially bootable Volume.
The most effective thing your Mac can do when confused is to start up using the Shift key. It does one pass of Disk Utility "Repair Disk" then boots up with minimal extensions loaded and ask you to login. But if your Mac is really sick, it may never get there.

- Reset iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

- Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod

Make an appointment at the genius bar are your nearest Apple store. At this point there is nothing you can do without a computer, so if you don't have one and don't know anyone who has one that you can use the Apple store is a good fallback.

I just got a new hd tv im using the mac vga port but the screen will not centre?

i selected best display to fit screen and its off centre, there is a large black gap on the left of the screen, the resolution is great but
i cant work like this, i can change it to a lower res to fit the screen but it looks terrible, i could use hdmi but again this is not a great resolution

Mac book goes into sleep mode it won't always come out the keyboard lights up but the screen will not

it seemed to start after i updated to OS X lion.

I have this same issue. When experiencing this issue I connected a wired mouse and selected/reviewed bluetooth device status which showed blutooth devices not connected. Trying to reconnect and/or restart the bluetooth devices (keyboard, mouse, and trackpad) did not work. Only a reboot solves the problem. Reseting the hardware does not prevent this issue.
Apple support informed me that this is a known bug and they are working on it. There is a bluetooth issue with supporting three bluetooth devices that manifests after sleep. My work around was to use only bluetooth keyboard and magic mouse. This solves the problem. After each OS patch is applied (in future) I plan to check and see if the issue is solved. I did not upgrade yet to to patches released in Feb. 2012 - so it might be fixed there (as part of the wifi sleep issue solution).

The problem is that I can Slide to Unlock and hear sounds, it's fully functionall. Except ONE thing. The screen is constrantly Black!
I have tried to reset it to DFU mode etc.
NOTHING seems to work!
