Laserjet 4000 runs words/characters together when printing.

What causes my Laserjet 4000 to run words together and overlaps characters.  The same document prints fine on a Laserjet 4100.

Thanks everyone for their input. As far as the memory shortage, I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. I can create a document in Pagemaker of only 200KB that prints fine and the convert the same document to ID and it fails to print.
I think Dov is right about the 4000 because I remember when the printer was new, there were some incompatibility issues with Pagemaker that I had to work around. The Adobe people told me back then that Pagemaker and HP postscript printers didn't get along very well.
I'll check with HP again (I've already written to them twice with no response) and see if the firmware upgrade Dov mentioned is still available, however, even though this 4000 has been very durable and a real workhorse for me, it may be time to put it out to pasture and invest in a new Postscript laserjet.
Any recommendations?
Thanks again for everyone's help.

HP Laserjet 1022nw running with Win7 64 computer printing multiple copies - won't stop until you shut off.  It resumes printing when you turn the 1022nw  back on
    Have renistalled Driver
It worked fine with Vista and XP

    Hello @Astronav,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue of  multiple pages continuously printing from your Windows 7 computer to your HP LaserJet 1022nw Printer. However, in order for me to provide you with accurate support I do need to know how your printer is connected to your Windows 7 computer.
Normally the continuous printing issues are caused by your router. When you send the print command to your printer from your computer than the print command goes from your computer to your router and finally to the printer. If there is a conflict with your router it may constantly send the signal to the printer to 'print' a job. Or, if the printed text is garbled information and weird symbols that your printer is printing it could be commands from the router to your computer that are improperly being sent to your printer and resulting in a page of weird symbols printing.
Therefore, it is very important for me to know how your printer is connected to your computer as that will guide us in the what direction we need to be troubleshooting.
Once I find out how your printer is connected to your computer I will be able to provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to resolve this continuous print issue. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Characters missing when printing a PDF

    Hi all,
When printing a PDF file (word document converted and digitally signed with Adobe Pro XI) some characters are not printed, they are as blank spaces. The workaround is to print the file as image, with a significant decrease of printing quality. Is there any setting or option to change to avoid this?

If as in the past, this is an issue with an HP print driver. Printing as image is generally the solution, but a lot slower I think.

  • Applications run slowly and quit when printing on a G5

I recently migrated applications, documents, and accounts from a G4 to a G5., both running OS X Tiger 10.4.9. Since migrating, many times a day there have been problems with it.
Applications (mostly FileMaker and Microsoft Word 2004) run a little more slowly than they should. Of more concern is how these applications will unexpectedly quit when printing. They will quit just before the print dialogue box is supposed to appear. It doesn't happen every time, but it shouldn't be happening at all. The printers used are all shared printers but not postscript-based printers.
I've tried a number of things (deleting the printers and adding them again, repaired permissions, updated software, deleted corrupt fonts, uninstalled MS Office & reinstalled, zapped PRAM) and nothing has helped.
I thought I'd ask here for any suggestions (since this looks like it might be a common enough problem) before I resort to reinstalling everything! Thanks!

Reinstall if deleting .plist files doesn't help. Seems that crashing on launch is common enough after the recent update http://www.macfixit.com
Backup. And whenever you do a clean install, back that up there and then, sparseimage works fine, and keep it handy if you need to restore.
I'd run First Aid and Disk Warrior.
I thought my printing problems began with the Security Update 2007-004 and went back to earlier image. Have not yet reapplied to test whether it would or not.
After spending a couple full morning trying various fixes, a restore or reinstall did the trick. I'd suggest the same.

  • Hp color laserjet 2600n, very dim grayish film when printing black only

For some reason, my hp color laserjet 2600n has started printing with a very dim grayish film over each page. I've had this printer for about a year, and it didn't do this at first. Does it no matter what program I print from. I'm sure it's a setting issue, but haven't been able to figure it out. Any ideas?
And, when I select to print in black only, it still prints the color on web pages. Is there a way to print from only the black cartridge? These are the options in the printer dialogue box under color: print in grayscale, black only, 4-color. Under these settings are other options, edge control, half-tone and RGB color. I've tried each setting individually and still the gray film. The only other possibility I can see is under Print Options, it has draft quality or image quality. I've tried both and still the film.
    Have any ideas.

    1. take out all of the ink cartriges and look at the big black roller on the door for streaking, if streaking, clean with a lint free cloth dampened with windex (window cleaner) then close the door.
    2. let it run to initializing.
    3. open the door and look and the black roller on the door to see if you have streaking. If no streaking put one cartridge in and close the door and repeat the steps until you find what cartridge is causing the problem.
I did this and found that my cyan was creating the lines on my paper. I cleaned the cyan roller with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol and it works fine now, no more lines on the paper.
    Cheers

  • Keeping Groups and their Details together when printing a report

So I created my Groups...[Claim #], [Rec #], [Line #], and [Service_Date] and set the Group Properties Page Break and checked
Between each instance of a group. I also made the
Keep Together property to True for all my Row groups and details then.
When I run in Preview it looks PERFECT!. Then when I actually go to print the report, the grouping is printing on one page and the details on the following page. This is unacceptable.
Then I Googled and found this...
    https://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/428595/keep-together-property-not-working-in-ssrs-2008
Which makes it seems as though the Keep Together Property has a bug. Unless the
Keep Together implies in Report Design View. But it does say
KeepTogther Indicates whether to keep all sections of the data region together on one page. Yeah...but "page" meaning viewable page or printable page...
I also found this work around which I really don't understand as to what I'm supposed to do.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is this still a problem in SSRS? And can anyone please help me with the work around?
Thanks in advance and am hopeful for a reply.
    ITBobbyP85

    Hi ITBobbyP,
According to your description, you have Groups [Claim #], [Rec #], [Line #], and [Service_Date] in the report, and added Page Break to the groups. The report looks normal when you preview it, but when you go to print the report, the groups displayed on one
page and the details on the following page.
Based on my knowledge, the issue is due to report size. Page orientation of report is Portrait(8.5in X 11in). If the width of tablix is larger than report page, the groups and details will be displayed on different pages. In this case, we need to change
paper size to a certain value, please refer to the following steps:
Right-click outside of the report body and click Report Properties.
In Page Setup, select a value from the Paper Size list. Each option populates the Width and Height properties. You can also specify a custom size by typing numeric values in the Width and Height boxes. Click OK.
For more information about setting page size, please refer to the following document:
    https://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/magnetismsolutionscrmblog/archive/2013/10/30/ssrs-using-page-size-and-interactive-size-to-manage-printing.aspx

  • Color Laserjet Pro M277dw making weird noises when printing

Hello Everyone, At my office we bought the Color Laserjet Pro M277dw printer last week, and since then everytime we print, the printer makes really weird noises. We checked inside but everything inside looks to be okay . Here you have the link with an audio I recorded with the sound it makes. Thank you very much and it would be great if you guys could help us to find a solution! Best, Lorena

Grinding can only mean physical damage to the printer.  You need to isolate the sound and replace the part to resolve the problem. The good news is that this is a new printer and will be covered by the warranty.  Contact HP directly and have them run you through the options.  It shouldnt cost you anything, but you do need to contact them directly.

  • Some characters missing when printing a PDF on Canon MP560

    Hi,
I was not sure where to post this. I have a 15" MB Pro and a Canon MP560. I just went to print a PDF invoice and the printed invoice was missing a few letters/characters in random places. They are not missing when viewing the invoice on my Mac but they are if I click print preview.
    Odd... Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • HP office jet 6500 running out of space when printing

I cant get written articles to fit on the printer paper.. It cuts off some words on the end of the paper??

That is exactly how the list for system protection should look by default.
One thing has caught my attention and that is one particular folder on the E: drive: Ashlyn-HP. This looks like the same naming format used for the user profile directories. Somehow, a user profile has been assigned to drive E:. The problem with this is that user profiles grow in time as this is the default location for personal files for that user (downloads, photos, documents, music, etc.). A lot of people use the default location for simplicity and this causes their user profile folder to grow.
The E: is meant for HP diagnostic tools and is not designed to handle this kind of growth. I always recommend not using the E: (HP Tools) drive for any storage of any content for this reason. If you could, right-click the Ashlyn-HP folder and select properties. What is the size on disk?
Is Ashlyn-HP the main account used or is it a secondary or alternate account?

  • 4000 x2248 photo is cropped when printed

With my new 12 megapixel photo/ 4000x2248, I cannot print the whole picture on a 13" x 9" paper. There is no way to scale the photo with IPhoto contrary to the possibility we have with a simple document. Please, help because my photo is beautiful but I want all of it on the paper. Thanks.
    IPhoto 11
    Epson printer R1800

The reason you can't get the photo to fit the paper is that the two are different size ratios. For a 13x9 paper size you will have to use a custom size of 12" x 6.744" in order to get the entire photo to print.
If you printer supports borderless 13 x 9 prints then you can use a custom size of 13 x 7.306.  You still won't get a total borderless print but will get the full image on the page.
    For a 13 x 9 paper size this is what you'll get:
Since my printer doesn't support 13 x 9 borderless this is the best I can do with that size paper and image.

  • Lightroom 3.3 having problems keeping pan position when printing

Has anyone else run into the problem when printing from LR 3.3 that was fixed in LR 3.2. - namely
Print: Image loses “pan” position when placed in cells that are not big enough
When LR 3.0 was out they released 3.2 and fixed the above problem.  Recently when printing from 3.3 I noticed that it could not retain any image pan whilst in cells on the sheet that are not big enough. It does not matter whether or not there is one image of multiple, it seems to suffer from the same problems, with all images defaulting to the right hand margins.
I can confirm that 3.2 did indeed fix the issue, but it seems to be back in 3.3
Can anyone else confirm this issue?

  • Printing from a 32 bit client in a 64 bit environment (laserjet 4000 n with windows 7)

I have a HP laserjet 4000n connected to a 64 bit windows 7 machine.  Another client (32 bit) on my network wants to print to that printer.  I saw on the support website instructions for how to do this:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=...
So far, I have installed the 64 bit driver (just re-installed and I can print from the 64 bit server).
I then downloaded the 32 bit driver files (for PCL 5) and saved them.
I then went to the printing properties of  the printer and chose advanced drivers and checked the box "x86". The instructions called for finding the file "hpcuXXXc.inf".  In the printer driver folder, there were 2 subfolders - one marked 64 bit and inside that folder was a file "hpcu112t.inf" (file ends in "t" not "c") - so I chose that file and pressed ok and got the following error message:
The specified location does not contain the driver HP LaserJet 4000 Series PCL5 for the requested processor architecture.
I then downloaded more drivers (for PCL 6 - even though my printer is labelled PCL 5).  This time, I got no 64 bit subfolder (only one folder labelled windows vista).  However , there WAS a file labelled "hpcu112c" this time - so I chose that and still got the same error message.
    Help!?
    Thanks.
    Janc

    Phychopomp1,
Windows 7 64 bit is able to run 32 bit programs. However, some programs will have issues.
Have you checked your programs against the Windows 7 compatibility list: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=2394
This should tell you if they are compatible or not with Windows 7 64-bit.
There are compatibility settings that you can try once you have installed the software also. Right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then go to the compatibility tab and try the various OS settings.
If those things fail, then you should try Windows XP Mode (convenience link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). This will allow you to install your programs in a virtual copy of Windows XP SP3 using Windows Virtual PC. Once XP Mode is installed, when you install your software into it, you will get a shortcut to use the program from your Windows 7 start menu without even seeing the XP Mode window.
    Hope this helps,
