LCM - Batch Utility

Hi,
Looks like there is a LCM Batch utility. To go with that there are some sample XML migration files in the LCM_HOME\samples directory. Unfortunately I have no access to the Shared Services server. Thus was wondering if anyone has a sample XML migration file? Or when you use the Shared Services Console GUI to define a migration, does it actually build a XML file in the background somewhere? Then could you in theory hijack that file and use that with the utility? If so, where exactly does the Shared Services Console create the file?
Trying to research the XML file format while access is being granted. Just want to see what one of these files looks like.

I did a simple one and got the below. Wondering about the user and password section... So I want the artifacts to goto a file named 'samtest_022111'. Can I path that to a different location like our SAN? What is the directory on the server this file would be located at? Is it /Application Metadata/Planning Applications/TS_EMBUD/Planning Application Properties ???

Lcm batch utility issue in 11.1.1.3

"Utility.bat" is currently unable to execute multiple Definationmigration.xml files from the batch mode
In the batch file i have called multiple Definationmigration.xml file
The batch file is in this format

Hi. Have you assigned the classes to the entities within the metadata? If so, how are you checking that there is access or no access - data grid? The user may still see the other entiies in member selection dialog boxes unless you've checked the enable metadata security filtering within application settings.
Regarding [default], have you assigned classes to EVERY metadata item? If not, and it's common not to, then give All access to [default].

Missing data in SWF files created with Batch Utility SP1

Hi All and happy new year !
I have a problem using Xcelsius 2008 batch Utility SP1. On the new SWF file, some of my data are missing. I used a grid component to identify the problem and there are no data where it should have some.
Is there a table size or data range limit?
Or another solution for my problem?

Library conversion was smooth. Logic performed(seemingly)flawlessly.Samples sound great.Used #3 dither. I converted the Giovani Edition by Bela D. Most of what i do is fine to my ears at 16 bit & my rig never ever even flinches. Many of the new great sound librarys out there are 24 bit & now i can choose which bit world to be in depending on the project.
Rohan, i poked around your site.Really great music.But it was late that night & i was kind of chilling & was digging the "Peter Pan" cue & then the Coo Coo clock scareded me out of my seat.

Batch Utility for FR - Documents

Trying to find some documenation on how to use the ScheduleBatch.cmd, hrcmd.cmd, FRSetenv.cmd, ManageUserPov.cmd utility programs. Any ideas on if there is any or where it might be. thanks

Found what I needed but still having an issue with getting it to work the way we want it to.
- In the doc it describes the bursting file where you list the User Names you want to give access to the snapshot. It sayes "comma-spearated Financial Reporting user names who are granted access to the snapshot". Then I try to make the bursting file I am not able to list more than one user name. Any ideas on how to get two or more per POV value. We have reports that 10 or 15 different people out of 400 get so I need to be able to only generate the report once and have the select 15 view it. We use the bursting file becuase we have about 40 different POV's per report and different people get each different version of the report.

Export Dimensions using EPMA Batch Client

Does anyone know if there is a way to export the dimensions from EPMA using a command line tool like the EPMA Batch Client. I have gone through the guide and there are commands to import the dimensions but none to export them from EPMA. We are on EPM 11.1.2.1 version and all our apps are using EPMA with planning so unfortunately i cannot use the planning outline extractor tool either. Thanks

You can use LCM to export a hierarchy, and that can be scripted LCM batch utility. Create a migration to the file system with LCM. Select the hierarchies you want to export. When you get to the point where it asks you to execute the migration, there is also an option to save an XML file with the options you selected. You can use that xml file with the utility. The exports are in the import/export folder under the ID of the person executing the migration. The folder/files can be copies anywhere.

Help - LCM Utility Error - Could not connect to source - Null

Has anyone successfully used LCM to extract BI+ objects to files under 9.3.1?
I've configured it as per the doc, and it seems to connect to HSS Ok, but fails to connect to BI+ even though I've used the Project name and App ID as shown in Shared Services.

LCM Utility

I am in the process of setting up a port everything from env.A to env.B and have run into two issues..... they appear to be connected.,
The config. and installs are all identical .... except for the server names.
Here is what I have been able to do so far ....
CSSImportExport got Shared services running without issues.
Replicated DBs and can accesss HFM using HFM CLient.
When I try to login to Workspace I get the "Enter a Valid User Name and Password" error.
Yes ... the core is running without issues ...
No .. I am not able to test with .... http://<your server>:19000/workspace/browse/configInfo

When I run the LCM Utility it gives me the GSMNotfound error .... twice ...before quitting ...

LCM vs IMPORT/EXPORT utility

what is the better option for importing a planning application? LCM or import/export utility? Which one should i folloow? Which is more error-prone??

Thanks John... you perhaps remember i faced some problem in importing the access rights for certain data forms and task lists of my application using LCM. It could not find the appropriate data form or task list... Then i tried the utility and the import operation was 100%. And John... i was able to import the application into a whole different application( different name), even whose owner is different as well. I am using v11. But the LCM is very disturbing. It might show Completed, but one has to search through the application dimensions, forms everything if all the components and security have been imported properly.
John you said that obviously there are going to be some problems with LCM, then also what makes you recommend LCM over utility? I mean is there anything that LCM provides and utility does not?? Or it is just the GUI and easy to execute??

LCM’s utility.sh is called from inside Reporting and Analysis’ defined LCMUtility.sh script and always from a pre-specified location. To avoid this, do not run utility.sh outside the bin folder.

Acrobat 9 Pro: Batch Export Form Data to TXT?

Is it possible to use Acrobat 9.0 Pro's batch processing utility (Advanced > Document Processing > Batch Processing...) to export a bunch of PDF forms to individual .txt files (Forms > Manage Form Data > Export Data...)?
I can't find access to the Forms menu in the built in Batch utility wihen I click "New Sequence...", so I imagine it might take some custom JavaScript, which I'm not super experienced with, but I muddle through reading JavaScript code and understand it.
So, if someone can give any direction, I'd appreciate it! Thanks!

I don't know the correct syntax for filepaths in JS... does it get wrapped in double quotes?

Batch append a single keyword

We enter keywords using Photo Mechanic when ingesting, but would like to add one to files processed from raw using the batch utility or a script.
In File Info you can append a keyword, but if you record this step for an action it translates as set keyword to "x". Therefore it removes all the other keywords.
Can anyone help or point me to a script that can be ran from within the batch?

I don't think it can be done, well not in Photoshop CS4 maybe with CS4 as that has access to the metadata. If you need to have it working for both CS3 and CS4 you would need to have Bridge open so that the keyword list could be fetched.
You can add keywords using templates but append only works in CS4 but then it does not work via an action.
Options use a script just for CS4 or have bridge running and use script that should work on both.
Anyway I'm sure someone will come up with a solution.

Converting PDFs to forms and FAPs by batch !

Hi everyone,
We can convert a PDF into FAPs with the Conversion Wizard available in documaker Studio.
Just curious to know whether this whole process can be done in a batch (or automation).
Whenever i upload a PDF, it needs to get converted into FAPs without manual intervention. Do we have any such utility ?

(Ofcourse, there are functions like AddmultiPageTIFF where we can attach the external file along with the output. However, we need these external file (PDF or TIFF) in FAPs - to save memory space of the outputs)

The utility converts a PDF into an image file is that what you require? There is no batch utility for this purpose.
To convert a PDF into a text based FAP, I'd recommend a tool called SolidPDF or you can use teh included Adobe conversion. SolidPDF does a very good job of retaining the fidelity of the document - especially if it was converted from word or some other text based tool.
If you are trying to use the PDF in stream (one time dynamic use), I would recommend the ADDMULTIPAGEBITMAP rule instead. An example of this woudl be to include a copy of a signed application in a policy package. You have to stage the PDF where Documaker can pick it up.
If you are trying to save space in the output, you are better off going with the SOldiPDF conversion process. The comversion of PDF or inclusion of PDF as a bitmap uses the same process which converst teh PDF Into a bitmap, so either of these options will not necessarily save you and space in the print spool.
