Lenovo Flex 2-15D -- Loose Compartment

Hello,
I recently purchased a Lenovo Flex 2-15D. Coming right out of the package, I tried out the 300-degree "tablet" stand feature, but when reverting it back to laptop mode, a compartment becomes loose and pops open on the right end. This happens every time I revert it back to laptop mode from tablet mode -- seemingly when particularly gripping the left side of the keyboard when flipping. I have attached an image to demonstrate this happening.
It snaps back into place, but it continues to happen. I briefly checked this forum to see if any other posts were made about this issue, but couldn't find any. Is this simply a manufacturing defect, or is this a common flaw with the Lenovo Flex 2? Is the simple solution here to just get the laptop replaced?
Thank you.

hi frustrated09,
Welcome to the Forums.
Depending on the part / area where the missing screws are, yes, the M2.5 (4mm, 4.5mm) and M2 (6mm) will work on the Flex 2-15 as they're listed on the hardware maintenance manual.
Hardware Maintenance Manual - Lenovo Flex 2-14, 2-14D, 2-15, 2-15D

I am trying to connect to a wireless HDMI adapter.  According to Microsoft I should be able to go to devices and then project and then choose wireless adapter.  I am up to date on windows 8.1
Does lenovo flex 2-15D Miracast support miracast?

    hi Pathfinder87,
It's a bit early to tell if the wireless card is malfunctioning (unless this has been an ongoing issue out of the box).
    Things that you can try:
    1. Uninstall and delete the wireless card driver from the Device Manager and in the Control Panel (icon views) > Programs and Features and reboot the machine. When finished, install the stock driver from the D:\Drivers\WLAN folder or try this driver from Intel:
    File name: Wireless_17.16.0_De64.exe
    Version: 17.16.0 (Latest)
    Date: 04/20/2015
    Size: 24.73 MB
    Language: English
    Operating Systems: Windows 8, 64-bit*
    2. Follow this "This device cannot start" Code 10 error in Device Manager in Windows fix (see Manually fix corrupted registry entries).
    3. Try booting in Safe Mode with Networking and see if the problem persist. If wireless card works fine in Safe Mode, consider doing a clean boot and observe the functionality in normal mode.
    3. If you got this problem recently (e.g., after a Windows Update) then you may need to consider rolling back the machine
How to Do a System Restore in Windows 8 and 8.1
    4. If doing a System Restore doesn't work, consider restoring the machien to factory settings by pressing the Onekey Recovery (Novo) button )note that any data on the system partition will be wiped).

  • Boot Fail after latest BIOS Update on Flex 2-15D

    Hi everyone,
I have a severe problem (I guess) after the latest BIOS Update. Windows 7 freezes during startup.
I own a 64-bit Lenovo FLex 2 15D with AMD A6-6310 and R4, 4GB RAM and a SSHD (8GBSSH). I purchased it without OS and installed Windows 7 - which worked fine so far.
I yesterday updated the BIOS with version 9FCN23WW (for Win7 and Win8), the latest BIOS update. A mistake, it seems.
After Reboot, I first had to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS, because it would not let me boot at all. I figured out how to get into the BIOS-Setup to disable this (press Enter 2x, press Tab when in the Boot Menu to access the "Apps Menu", then "SETUP" - just in case this helps someone).
Now Win7 begins to start up, but freezes during the startup process (the splash screen with the win flag freezes and looks a bit strange. I used the "protected mode" Windows Startup and saw that the process always hangs when loading "amdkmpfd.sys".
That is basically it.I guess I have to find a way to re-install the previous version of the BIOS, but I have no idea how!
    Any idea?!
Now about what I did to fix this (poor, but I tried):
If I try to start from a Win7 installation CD-ROM (actually it is one for Dell PCs, but I guess that is not the problem) and press a key to boot from CD, Windows loads files, shows "Starting Windows"  and at a certain point again just freezes. When I -do not- press a key, WIndows Boot Manager shows up and mentions that "Windows failed to start (etc.)" "File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD" "An Error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
I can't even boot into Linux on a USB stick, because the Windows "Error Recovery" (translated from German, sorry - my guess) won't let me when I try (just offers to boot to Win7 in protected mode - it could be that it fails immediately and jumps back to Win Startup).
Thank you for every bit of help!

    Go to Solution.

I found our the solution to my problem with the help of SebastianLenovo ...
In the BIOS / Boot Mode, I switched back from "UEFI" to "Legacy". That's it. That simple. The BIOS Upgrade routine just did not transfer that setting from the old BIOS to the new.
Given the fact that 1. I did not change that setting, so it is default and 2. it would have been easy to avoid, if the BIOS update routine would be well programmed to transfer the current BIOS settings to the new, upgraded BIOS ...
Anyway a strange situation that a 64-bit system has a 32-bit BIOS. Actually no Linux distribution (except FatDog and rescue systems) are able to deal with it - Linux only running as a Virtual Machine under Windows. I think this is inappropriate and really taking away a part of the fun if you can not run this laptop as a dual boot system.
Thanks to Sebastian and I hope this solution helps someone in the future...

  • Lenov Flex 2-15D Ersatzteile

    Nabend zusammen,
ich habe heute ein Lenovo Flex 2-15D (Modell NR.: 20377) von einem bekannten bekommen. (5 Monate alt)
Das Teil ist ansich der Hammer. Muss man ja mal sagen.
    Mfg A.Wenig

  • Linux installieren auf dem Flex 2 15D - funktioniert nicht

    Hi,
    Tristam.

I don't believe that the Flex laptops are supported in Update Retriever. It's principally a Think system tool.

  • Battery life lenovo flex 14 - does not last long at all! (2h30)

Hello , I got a lenovo flex 14 last september so it's very new.
The battery lasts only 2 hours 45 when charged  fully.  I find it too short considering the computer is new and the battery is supposed to last between 5 to 8 hours on a lenovo flex 14.
I am very average user. i am listening to music, typing word document, searching on the internet..
I have already checked in task manager and no application seems to be running and "" eating" the battery.
Do you have a similar issue to mine?
Thank you for your help. I am wondering if my battery is defective...

Me too im regret to buy apple product. Battery NO GOOD

  • Lenovo Flex 2 15 warranty is incorrect

I bought my laptop on November 11th, 2014. I bought it at Futureshop in Canada. I looked up the warranty status and it has the wrong date on it.
I have called 2 times and they said it would be fixed in 24 hours. Today I check and it is still the incorrect date.
Can someone @ Lenovo fix this? I can show you the receipt.

I have a Lenovo Flex 2-15, and I want it to startup with Mozilla Firefox, but it opens Firefox as it is set to do in my startup file, but then it goes to Internet Explorer.  I think this must be a Lenovo thing, because know of someone else who has same settings, but they do not have this problem.  IE is not responding at this time, so it is a pain to get out of it.  Anyone know of any Lenovo settings that could be changed that override the startup instructions?  Or does anyone else have similar problem?  Help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

  • No wifi connections with Windows 8.1 on Lenovo Flex 2-14

I got me a new Lenovo Flex 2-14 with Windows 8.1 on it yesterday, but I can't connect to my wifi network. In the tray there's always the red cross (not the yellow symbol) and no network is found at all.
I read that a lot of users experience this, so I tried multiple drivers but none of them works. I tried the one pre-installed on the D drive, the newest one from the Lenovo website and also some that I found via Google when I searched for my wifi-adapter (it's a Realtek RTL8723BE). But as I said, no driver works.
Does anybody have an idea what I could do? It's a completely new notebook, so I didn't change any settings.
    Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Actually I have no idea what wireless adapter I have, on the Lenovo page both drivers are listed. When I install the Realtek driver I at least see an entry in the Device Manager, whereas when I install the Intel driver nothing happens at all. I deinstalled the Intel Tools and reinstalled the Realtek driver afterwards, but nothing changed.
In my router's settings I can only choose between channels 1 to 13, as far as I know these are at 2.4 GHz, right?

  • Lenovo Flex 10 touchscreen stops working after 1 hour of use.

Just bought a new Lenovo Flex 10 from a retail and it works perfectly except that after an hour of use the touchscreen stops working, the computer still works ok, but only with the mousepad. The notebook came with Windows 8.1, and I haven't installed any program on it. I need an urgent response please, since i've been looking for days in the community and other support pages, and still can't get a satisfactory answer and the period to get the a refund are about to expire.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi riglesias,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Once the Touchscreen stops responding, can you check the following:
    1. Open System Properties and see if the Touch functionality is still there
      - Link to picture (Touchscreen feature is not detected)
      - Link to picture (Touchscreen feature is detected)
If the Touchscreen feature is detected, proceed to Step 2.
    2. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, navigate to the Human Interface Devices section and uninstall anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen). When finished, reboot the system and observe.
    3. If the Touchscreen is still not working, hold the Shift Key and hit the restart button inside Windows and you should be able to see the image below then try to tap on the screen to test and observe. I
If the touch capability is still not functioning, I recommend you contact lenovo for service.

  • Lenovo flex 2 can't connect to samsung LCD tv by HMDI

I got a problem te connect my Lenovo flex 2 to my Samsung T200HD tv. wen i connect it says no signal... and yes i know i need to activate it from my computer. the thing is t doesnt find it. it says connect to screen by VGA... I dont have a VG poort, and i have no option to change it HDMI. The support desk of samsung say it my laptop software.... The thing is.. when i connected my laptop with the same HMDI cable to a other Samsung tv it works instantly. I have tryed all kinds of things and lloked on forums.. nothing worked... not updating the drivers... not reinstalling them.. i think its the combination between the useless Intel HD software and the Geforce software...  Does anyone has the same problem and a fix!

    Update:
I can connect through the IE Tabs extension on Chrome. In other words, when Chrome simulates an Internet Explorer browser tab, I'm able to connect. I'd still like to find a fix for this problem since I can't configure Outlook. Can anyone help me out?

  • Lenovo Flex 10 SSD upgrade

    Hi,
This is my first post. I have just brought a Lenovo Flex 10 with a celeron n 2807 chip. I asked in the shop if they could do an ssd upgrade and they said they wouldn't recommend it because the celeron n2807 chip is not good enough to run an SSD internal flash drive. Would anyone recomened upgrading the interneral storage from the 5400rpm hard drive to an SSD?

Pardon my lack of confidence in your shop, but that's a joke. SSDs will improve PC's right back to the beginning of the SATA offering. I have a NUC with the following Celeron:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/79052/Intel-Celeron-Processor-N2820-1M-Cache-up-to-2_39-GHz
There is a huge performance gain from running an SSD on these. The only factor in whether or not to get an SSD should be if the size within your budget will hold all your data.

  • LENOVO FLEX 20 WI-DI

    Hi,
I just received my Lenovo Flex 20 today and i was very dissapointed to find out that wireless display was not supported. I thought it will be compatible as i checked the Graphics card and processor prior of buying it but unfortunately it doesnt have a compatible wireless card. I really need widi for my job as i want to present everything wirelessly on another compatible WIDI TV .
I was wondering whether if i buy The INTEL 7260AC wireless card and upgrade the system if i will be able to use widi. Will the system accept this wireless card? And if yes will i then just be able to install WI-DI software and make it functional?
I just wanted to add that i already tried another 2 x card (which i took out from my laptop - A Railink card made in 2010 and from an old HP MINI netbook - A Broadcom card) and they had been accepted by the lenovo flex 20. What are your thoughts then?
Will INTEL 7260AC be accepted by Lenovo Flex 20? If yes will this be enough to enable widi after installing appropriate software?
    Thanks for your kind help!

Hi BLueArMy, welcome to the forum!
I don't know if you can install a Intel 7260AC wireless card in your Flex, however: if you are running Win 8.1 (update 1) you shouldn't need to upgrade the card. Win 8.1 has the ability to use Miracast, to wirelessly connect to your compatible TV.
I have the Lenovo A520, with a Realtek RTL8188CUS Wireless card, and it connects well with my Belkin SreenCast F7D4501 unit. I bought the Belkin ScreenCast to connect, via WiDi, my Y470 with Win 7. After I received the A520, and updated the  Win 8, to Win 8.1, I noticed that I had the "Connect To Another Wireless Device" in the charm bar Devices display. Just make sure you have the WiDi unit (or the setting in your TV) turned on, and the TV input is selected.
It may take you a little tweaking to get it all set up. IIRC on the first setup, my A520 needed to download some Windows updates during the process. After that, all of the remote display settings are under the Intel HD Graphics manager.
Let us all know how it goes.

My lenovo flex 2 14 touchpad is saying tham I have 4 fingers on the touch pad (which is evidently effecting it as i cant use it what so ever), when I dont. This occured out of no where, and no software, or system changes have occured to cause this issue, and I haven't the slightest cluse as to what caused it, furthermore when I touch the touch pad on the top left corner, it goes down to 2 or 3 fingers.
    im on windows 8.1.

I'm having this issue as well except on my Yoga 2 Pro. I have the pinch to zoom feature disabled (which is frustrating since it's a useful feature). Usually it zooms in when scrolling down, often to percentages between 800 and 900% view.

  • Lenovo Flex 2 14 display touch

Hi all, I broke display touch of my lenovo flex 2 14 inch, can anyone tell me where I can purchase online a new touch for display ?

I've found assembly display+glass+touch digitizer. But I don't buy it, it is the newer version and I think it does not compatible with flex cables on my laptop. On my laptop digitizer board is on the bottom side of the display, but here it is on top. I'm tot sure but flex cable can be not too long to connect.
