Lightroom 3 Beta tethering issue

Hi I am testing out Lightroom 3 beta to see if it will fit my everyday needs in photography. I have run into a few bugs and wanted to know is this because of the BETA program I am running. I am using it on a new iMac computer. When I plug my camera into the computer , lightroom can see photos if I use it for downloading . But when I set up the camera for tethering it does NOT see the camera at all. Is this because I am using a BETA version ? When will Lightroom 3 be out for MAC? I am also thinking the reason in the web part of Lightroom I can only see one photo in the galleries, correct?
I would love to know because I am hoping its not a camera issue
thank you

You almost certainly mean Beta 4, and discussion of Beta issues should be on the forum devoted to them:

Please take your answer there.

  • Lightroom 4 Beta Download issue

I have OS X 10.7.2 and am trying to download LR4 beta.
It gets about half way through then quits before it's finished downloading the 412mb file.
I've tried downloading this about 4 times now to no avail.
I used a really old machine of mine to download the dmg yesterday which worked. Annoyingly that machine is 200 miles away from where I am as it's a remote server.
I then tried to shove the dmg onto my idisk so I could download it via a different server. That didn't work either.
I have verified my disk and all of my external disks where I attempted to copy the dmg and they are fine.
I also checked my permissions too, all fine.
Any clues, have I missed something totally obvious?
    Regards
    David

  • Lightroom 5 auto import issues with nikon d90

Hoping someone can help answer my question - I am wondering if Lightroom 5 has any issues with the auto import or tethering feature using a Nikon d90? I was using Lightroom 2 and the auto import feature has no issues with my d90. After I installed Lightroom 5 (Cloud App) and ran it for the first time, the first thing I used was the tethering feature and it worked great for 4 shots. I turned my camera off and then back on again and LR would not recognize my camera any longer for tethering. What's strange is that it will detect it for "Importing from Device" option. So, I went to plan two which was to auto import and that wasn't working at all. I am at a loss. I have a shoot coming up this weekend and need for one of these options to work. Any help is appreciated!!!

I use a D90, but I have never tried tethered shooting with it. Other users might have some suggestions for you, but looking at the list of supported cameras for tethered shooting the D90 is not "officially" supported in Lightroom. So you're probably on your own to find solutions. I know this isn't a lot of help.

  • D610 tethering issue. No Camera detected.

    Hey All,
I have searched around this forum and cannot find an answer. I am having an issue with LR not detecting my D610. If i remove all SD cards, switch off, then back on, it will detect the D610, but only for one shot, then loses detection. I am operating LR ver. 5.7.1 and Mac Yosemite 10.10.2.  This is driving me nuts. I have also turned off the auto import feature on the D610, as suggested in another post, but it still does not work.
    Please help.

    More suggetions here:

If it worked before something has changed–The above suggestions should help resolve the issue by process of elimination.

  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working [Lightroom 5 Beta]

I was looking for a Lightroom 5 Beta forum but am unable to find one.  Today, I downloaded and installed LR5 Beta on my new HP Envy 64-bit Windows 8 machine.  After running an installation, I started the program.  At first, it asked about opening a catalogue during which time I created a new one as I have no intention of using my LR4 catalogue for LR5B.  After creating the catalogue, it stated the following:
"Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 64-bit has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
After it closed, I tried opening it again.  Same result.  No matter how many times I tried, the program would not open.  I tried reinstalling the program to no avail using the "repair" feature.  Finally, I just removed the program.

  • What happened to the Lightroom 5 Beta forum? Deleted, not archived or merged?

What happened to the Lightroom 5 Beta forum? I understand that LR5.2 is now in full release, but it would be nice if the Beta forum was locked and archived for reference. It seems to have been completely deleted, along with some detailed feedback by myself and other Beta testers. (I can't find it if it is archived, anyway.) None of my many, many LR5Beta forum contributions are listed in my "Content" tab in my Adobe profile. All of the links to the LR5Beta discussion in which I contributed to (such as http://forums.adobe.com/message/5271729#5271729 ) lead me to this message:
    "Unauthorized
It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake."

Big thumbs up for Pete.Green and Daniel T! Thank you for this incredibly fast response! I worked very hard on explaining my "Advanced Adjustment Brush" proposal back in May 2013, and I am glad that it is again available for reference... in fact, even better, as it appears that the thread is now fully unlocked and availble to reply to. I still firmly believe this proposal is the way forward for Lightroom's local adjustment tools in the future.  I hope that the remainder of the LR5Beta forums will eventually be brought back for reference.

  • Lightroom 5 Beta - Most Thorough + Detailed  Reviews?

Hi. Where are the most profound and deep reviews  or introductions of Lightroom 5 Beta? I do not need general reviews just touching the highlights (such as in DPR).
I'd like a deeper look at interesting details such as this look at the new crop functions:
    https://holycrop.wordpress.com/2013/04/15/holy-crop-lightroom-5-the-crop-enhancements
Again, general overviews are not needed. Only deep-diving general reviews or reviews of certain aspects (especially image editing and image managing).
Is there anything to read that's interesting even after having digested all the headline news? I am also interested in "Still Missed" lists and in reasonable speculations about features that might still show up in version 5. I'd prefer a written review over video.
    Thanks for all links!

The LR5 beta has been out for 2 days and there are a few “what’s new” lists.  If you want things about “what’s old”, you mention image-management which hasn’t changed much if at all in LR5, then find an in-depth LR4 review after looking at the “what’s new” for LR5 so you can tell what is different.  In general, because it’s a beta there may or may not be any descriptions of LR5 as if you’ve never heard of LR, before.  If you don’t want to watch videos, get a LR4 book, that has the space to go through things step by step as a video would show you.

  • Lightroom 4 Beta to Final Book Transfer

    Hi,
    Using Lightroom 4 64bits on Win 7.
I created a large book in Lightroom 4 Beta and would like to export it to Lightroom 4 (Final). I understand Lightroom is storing book as "special" collections so I would be happy to re-import a collection in Lightroom 4 - but ideally I would like to import the "layout" only and map photo files to my existing library - with locate pictures or something similar.
Could you someone explain how we could migrate books from beta to final version ?
    Many Thanks,
    Jean-Philippe

Exporting as Catalog and importing as Catalog works - however I end up with duplicate pictures in my main catalog.
There is an option "Import collection only - no file" but it's greyed out, and it is not possible to "locate" files from my main catalog. So the book is in but I can't change location of files to my main catalog.

  • Lightroom 4 beta-Import?

Why am I getting so many photo duplications when I want to import some of my photos into a new catalog in Lightroom 4 beta? On my first try, I tried to Import one of my old catalogs into Lightroom 4 beta's new catalog. My photo count increased from aroung 4000 to over 9000. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    HPB

  • Importing images form Lightroom 5 Beta into Lightroom 4

I have been using Lightroom 5 Beta for the last few months and have inputted a number of images. When I look for these with lightroom 4 the lightroom 5 library is empty.  Has anyone found a way around this or is there a way to rimport all of these files and their adjustments as I am now locked out of my Lightroom 5 Beta?

You have to import the photos to LR4.
If you haven't saved the metadata from within LR5beta, your LR5beta changes are gone, and even if you have saved the metadata, some new features (like Upright) will not be recognized by LR4.

  • Can I download and use Lightroom 4 beta if I do not have lightroom?

The good thing is you can use it until the end of March before deciding to purchase.

  • Assertion Failed alert when exporting in Lightroom 2 BETA

Please help! I am currently using the Lightroom 2 Beta on a Mac (OS X 10.4.11) and installed a plug-in to allow for a graphical watermark. Unfortunately, the plug-in wouldn't work properly (showed an internal error even though the plug in manager said it was working fine) and when I removed the plug in (through the plug in manager) I now cannot export at all through the export button in the Library mode. I get an alert saying "assertion failed". Technically I can still export through the file/export option but cannot get to the settings window (filenames, folders etc) to show what folder to put them into or specify the export settings.
Console report: "2008-04-08 10:21:19.413 Adobe Lightroom 2 Beta[308] Oops! An untagged string (assertion failed!) got thrown far enough that we display it to the user. This shouldn't happen."
I tried reinstalling but must have missed a file as the same error keeps appearing.
Can anyone give me a hand?

See the notes on the beta forum. Post this there.

  • When will Lightroom 4 support tethering for Canon EOS 6D?

    Hi, all...
The Canon 6D is not in the current list of supported cameras for tethering in Lightroom. When will Lightroom 4 support tethering for Canon EOS 6D?
    Thanks
    Steve

To be clear: Lightroom 4.3 now supports Canon 6D Raw files
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/12/lightroom-4-3-now-available.html
Lightroom still does not yet support tethering for Canon 6D

  • Lightroom 4 beta 32-bit on windows 7

I have downloaded lightroom4_p1_win32_011012.zip, and run the installation. I copied a few DNG files (taken on a Nikon D90) into a separate directory and opened Lightroom 4 beta. I can see these files in the Library module and also as a slide show and in the Book and Print Modules, but the moment I try to switch to the develop module, Lightroom crashes.
I'm running Windows 7 32 -bit with all updates installed, 3 Gb of RAM, 250b of free disk space and Intel Core 2 Quad CPU. I have not difficulties running Lightroom 3.6.
    Is this a known problem?

OK, I now realise that the DNG files had been modified in Lightroom 3.6. If I import the same pictures straight off the camera SD card, there is no problem working on them in the Develop Module

  • Lightroom 4.4 video issues, I think it may be a windows 8 issue.

I am not sure when this started happening or what has changed.  I went to import some video and in the import dialog box all my video files show "Preview unavailable for this file" in the thumbnail in the grid view.  And if I try to import them i get a dialog box with a message that says Import Results > Some import operations were not performed. > There is a problem with the video file (1) > [Filename].AVI
I am currently using windows 8 and I have imported video to this catalog before from the same camera.  The video plays fine in the video players(windows media player, quicktime, and the new video app on windows 8 that is the default player in the OS).
I went throught the http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/troubleshoot-video-issues-lightroo m-4.html and did all those suggestions.  I am now turning to the forums before I reach out to support.
Has anyone else run into this issue or a simililar one that may be able to give me a workaround or solution?
I am a cloud subscriber and all my programs are up to date.  Windows is current, all players are current, and this specific catalog has .AVI files in it from the same camera and the firmware on the camera has never been updated since I started shooting video.
    Thanks,
    Alex

I had the same problem -- also on Windows 8. I was trying to import .MOV files from an Olympus OM-D E-M5 into Lightroom and got the error you mentioned.
I believe it was a problem with my QuickTime installation. I was using an unofficial distribution of QuickTime called "QT Lite", and apparently it doesn't play well with Lightroom. Uninstalled that, installed the latest QuickTime and video imports started to work.
Unfortunately I then ran into this other problem, which sometimes causes video editing to fail: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/972420
