Lightroom CC does not start

I have an evaluation copy of Lightroom CC which has been working fine on my Mac, but now suddenly refuses to start. I see the splash screen inviting me to continue the trial, but after I say Continue, that window closes and nothing more happens. I've tried logging out, then logging in, from the CC app, and also deleting preference and cache files. What would be the next thing to try to get it working again?

My effort on Windows 8.1:
* I installed LR5 trial version the day before LR CC 2015 was released.
* I upgraded to LR CC 2015 but could not launch it.  Could still launch LR5 trial.
* I uninstalled LR 5
* Multiple efforts at signing out, rebooting, uninstalling LR CC2015, Adobe Cloud, reinstalling same - No Joy
** Note that it still indicated "29 days left in trial" even though it was now 28 days. hmmmm
* Uninstalled LR CC2015 and this time said [x] Remove preferences
* Reinstalled LR CC2015 and signed out of CC as previously noted.
* restart of LR CC2015 now shows me 28 days !  yay!  but still goes away right after I click "Continue Trial"
In the end, I got on the chat with the Adobe Live Support just like karens79496233 suggested and as noted before, had me delete some lingering cache files
in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache and C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore
And we are off and running !!

    After installing lightroom CC you need to log out from the Creative Cloud and once again Sign in.
    Do this by:
    Preferences>Account>Log out from the Creative Cloud.
    Let me know if worked.

  • Lightroom cc does not start. logout and login in creative cloud does not help. Have a test account, 2 days more to go (and want to decide whether to buy PS & LR CC or to stay with current desktop solutions.)

    I installed lightroom cc. But it did not start. Tried the solution, that seemed to help many others (logout, login) but it did not help. Even did logout, restartet pc (win 8.1, 64) and logged in again. tried to log out and log in in the cloud panel and in photoshop cc. nothing helped.
    Maybe it has to do with the fact, that i have a test account and only 2 more days to go? but i need to launch lightroom cc first before i can decide to purchase CC.

    Thanks for your reply. I was able to find help through a tech support chat session and the person helped me edit my /etc/hosts file and it solved the problem.
    For anyone else experiencing this issue (Mac OS X):
    Close all other programs and sign out from the Adobe Desktop App
    From the Finder, Go > Go to Folder...
    Type /etc and hit enter
    Find "hosts" file (only "hosts", there were similar files such as hosts.config but only open the one that says "hosts"
    Open the file, and replace the entire content with ### Host Database## localhost is used to configure the loopback interface#
    Close the file, sign back into the Adobe Desktop App
    Problem solved!

    I downloaded the version of Lightroom CC for Mac and start the program makes an attempt to get the initial welcome screen and the program closes. Made several attempts and does the same. I uninstalled and reinstalled and behaves the same. Lightroom 5.0 is working properly and my system runs at 64 bits with 16 GB of RAM. Can anyone give me a solution. thanks

    Could you try to logout - and in again from the Creative Cloud app.
    Then relaunch Lr Desktop.

  • Lightroom 3 does not start after hard drive replacement

    I have just recently replaced the hard drive on my IMac. All files and applications have been re-installed from the time machine back up drive. LR shows up on the dock but when I open it it comes up with:
    "The Lightroom catalog named “Lightroom 3 Catalog” cannot be opened because another application already has it opened" and "Quit the other copy of Lightroom before trying to launch."
    Do I have to reinstall LR3 from the LR DVD? I do not want to use loose the catalog structure and edit info.
    Any advise?

    Look in the folder that contains your catalog and see if there is a .lock file present. If so, delete it and try again.

    I installed Lightroom CC via creative cloud. The system says it is installed allright.
    But when I click the new icon, Lightroom just does not start.
    I then  removed Lightroom and reinstalled it.
    This did not help. Lightroom CC just would not start up.
    All other updates (Bridge, Photoshop CC 2014) worked allright.

    Installed Adobe lightroom cc 2015 a half an hour ago. Unfortunately it does not start. No error message - just nothing. Tried various compatibility modes. I'm logged into Win 8.1 with admin rights. Does anybody have an idea?

    Try signing out of the Creative Cloud app and then sign back in.
    1) Click on the gear icon.
    2) Select 'Preferences' and then sign out in the 'General' tab.
    3) Sign back in.
    4) Retry launching LR CC.

    Have you tried a different web browser?  It is likely your plug-ins, toolbars, or security settings are interferring with the download process.

  • PS CC 2014 does not start up correctly

    hi,
    I'm trying to rum PS CC 2014. After starting it stops quickly giving the message "could not initialize Photoshop due to a program error". I tried all not to technical things like reinstalling, logging of, ... Even tried to find the install log but couldn't find it.
    Lightroom runs perfect. Had the same problem with PS CC previous version. Did use CS5 because I had no time to solve the problem. Now I m eager to use PS CC but it does not start up.

    make sure you have no 3rd party plugins starting and reset your preferences by holding down shift-ctrl-alt (win) or shift-cmd-alt (mac) while starting ps.  if done correctly, you'll see a confirmation dialog.
    if that fails, uninstall, clean and reinstall per Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
