Lightroom Slideshow on Second Monitor or Projector??

Is it possible for me to edit/print photos while presenting a slideshow of the same images on a second monitor or projector?  If so, how do I go about doing this in Lightroom?  Thanks!

It seems to be possible.
Bring up the second monitor by clicking the "2" button in the lower left, just above the filmstrip.
Select "Slideshow" on the second screen.
Select play on the second screen (upper right corner).
Edit your images on the left screen.
Be warned that having the second monitor up can make editing kind of sluggish.

  • Slideshow focus blur second monitor

For my weddings, I sometimes develop some pictures on my laptop and show them on a 17" apple monitor.
In LR3 I could only use fullscreen slideshows without any text, lines or shadows, or it would blur my pictures.
In LR4 this is still the case!
    What am I doing wrong?
The only time it produces sharp pictures is with one monitor, or with a picture fullscreen but I want a line around them!
Not sharp with a slideshow on second monitor, even with 'blank other screens'.
And yes, I'm letting it make previews.
    Help?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Mark, The Netherlands

    Hi Victoria,
I use prepare previews in advance.
Then, all pictures are crispy sharp when I use 1 monitor.
But when I use the second monitor for showing the pictures they are blurred.
Do you mean I have to make 1:1 previews in advance, before LR makes the previews in advance?
    Thanks, Mark

  • Lightroom 5.4 jumps to second monitor when attempting to edit an image in Photoshop CS 6.

    Hello,
I have a brand-new HP z620 with an Nvidia Quadro K 4000 display adapter and apparently a software and/or hardware conflict.
I am experiencing an issue with Lightroom 5.4 window not working correctly with my second, not primary, monitor. When Lightroom is working on the second monitor and I need to edit an image in Photoshop cs6, I want Lightroom stay where it is and Photoshop to open on my primary monitor. And this has worked well for me on my previous system which was also a Windows 7 64-bit machine with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 570.
When I click the Lightroom option to "edit in Photoshop CS 6” The Lightroom window will move itself to the primary monitor for no apparent reason. This is the problem I am seeking to remedy.
No other external editing programs opened through LR behaves this way, such as NIK or OnOne Perfect Photo Suite, and I really need LR to stay on the second monitor on the extended desktop.
I’ve tried every monitor cabling setup I could think of to try and even unplugging the primary to make windows identify it as the 2 monitor in the screen resolution settings, but that does nothing for me. My new workstation is running the same OS version and a K4000. Monitors are currently connected to the display ports via dp to dvi adapters. I’ve already tried moving the connections around and plugging one into dvi, there doesn’t seem to be a setting I can change within windows or adobe to change this behavior.”
On a related note, I have similar instability in software made by X-rite that supports the use of a colorimeter allowing me to build profiles for monitors and evaluate colors precisely. During the profiling process I place the colorimeter in the designated place on the secondary monitor and direct the application to begin showing the colorimeter different colors on that monitor. At this point the colors jump to the primary monitor while the rest of the interface along with the colorimeter is a secondary monitor. I have a workaround that I'm using for this particular problem but I am fairly sure that the issue that causes the problem with Lightroom is also the source of my trouble here and I need to eliminate it.
    thanks for your time,
    Larry Garvey

  • Watching movies on projector hooked up as second monitor

Hey all, here's a real good question for you. I currently have a projector (nec lt84 OLD!!!) and love it. It's hooked up to my G5 DC 2.0ghz with the 128meg geforce 6600lt (the stock video card with the dual core 2.0ghz). The projector's resolution is 1024x768 (it's native resolution is 800x600, but it runs interpolated at this higher resolution.) as I have it mirrored to a second monitor (LCD PANEL) that's at that resolution native. My projector is dying, and I'm getting a new one. I can't really afford to get one of the 1280x720 models, and I don't really watch anything on my projector except movies; which are a native 720x480. So the projector I'm looking at is a 854x480. The problem is I don't think the OS will really work well at that resolution. So what I'm wondering is, is there a way to make only the movies appear on the projector, and have the os and everything else run on the monitor at 1024x768? The projector will probably be DVI and the LCD PANEL is VGA (which I already have an adapter for to hook up to the DVI port on the G5.)
    Good luck in answering!!

The machine specs for the G5: 2.0ghz dual core, 1.5gb ram, 160gb hd

Actually those extra lines make all the difference in the world. Some windows in the OSX enviroment can't be resized. So, you end up dragging the windows around the screen to get to the top or bottom of the window. If you haven't noticed, you can't drag a window past the top of the screen. Try it. So if the particular window you have is bigger than 480 pixels tall, I won't be able to click anything lower than 480 pixels. A good example of this is the system preferences pane. If you have to click an apply button or something, no go. So, is there a way to make the movies go full screen on the second monitor?

  • Lightroom 3Beta slow to load to second monitor

I have been blaming a slow computer for this problem but I compared the loading to lightroom 2.5 and it has no problems.
I hsve a nvidia 512mg card which my hardware guy said should be more than enough.
My photos are kept on an external drive but this is no different from 2.5.
    Any suggestions.
I also have an export problem to CS4 but have read you are working on that.

I apologize, I'm a little confused by your response.
Are you saying your primary monitor is a wacom, and is viewing an image in Loupe mode?
If so, what is your second monitor, and what are you viewing there?
Also - what size is each monitor, and what resolution do you have set for each?
    If I'm misunderstanding, please clarify.
    Thanks,
    Becky

  • Lightroom in second monitor

Does anyone know of a way to cause Lightroom to open with the panels in my 2nd smaller monitor so that my previews always show in my larger monitor? It's just a minor pain to move the panels to the second monitor every time I open Lightroom.

Drag the main Lightroom screen to whichever monitor you want it on.  If you ext LR and restart, it will still be on that window.  It is with me, anyway!

  • Slideshows on external monitor

Probably silly question, hopefully simple answer...
I was trying to create a quick slideshow on my Macbook Pro with a digital projector connected. What I was expecting was to create the slideshow on the laptop screen (so the audience couldn't see the work-in-progress) but the completed show to display on the projector.
What a fuss! I had to change the projector to be the main display in the System Preferences and do all the creation on the big screen (using an 800x600 desktop instead of 1400x900).
Surely there's an easier way? Am I missing something?
    Thanks!

iPhoto doesn't support a second monitor. I don't know if you could have exported the slideshow as a QT movie and played it with QT Player on the second screen.
Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • Slideshow on 1st monitor (while in dual monitor mode)

Apparently, Lightroom expects you to always use the second monitor for slideshows and does not allow you to use the first (no options available as far I my research went).
My 1st monitor is bigger and would be my choice for slideshow presentations. I am sure I'm not the only person with this setup.
(BTW: I don't quite understand why there's two shortcuts for slideshows on a Mac - "Cmd + Return" and "Shift + Alt + Cmd + Return". In dual monitor mode they do exactly the same, even though the distinction suggests they would have something to do with the target monitor...)

me too originally! Until I remembered that LR never works like that!! The module system can sometimes get confusing trying to remember which things apply throughout LR and which things only on a module...however there is usually some way round every problem in the end,and one of the joys (or frustration dependant on  how busy I am) is discovering it.

  • How to use an iPad as a second monitor with Bluetooth?

I know there are several apps that will allow me to use my iPad as a second monitor over my wifi connection. But is there a way to us it over blue tooth or with a special cord?
    Thanks!

I use a projector as a second monitor for a desk top. When the shutter is closed it is hard to minimize or exit a window. I would like to use my iPad as an additional second monitor so I can tell what I am doing.

  • New 13" Macbook Pro trying to connect to a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 as second monitor. I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. The Macbook does not sense the second monitor (TV). Help?!

I've been a Mac since 2008, so I know my way around the system pretty well. This issue, however, has me stumped. I had an iMac until now and only now am I experiencing some difficulty with my new MacBook Pro. The model I have is the newest 13" Macbook Pro model and I'm trying to connect a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42" HDTV as a second monitor via the Thunderbolt port.
It worked the first two times and hasn't worked since, after 10-15 attempts with different configurations, turning things on n off, restarting the mac, unplugging the cables, adapters, TV, resetting the P RAM, etc... I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. No matter what I do, the Macbook does not sense the TV as a second monitor anymore.
I took the MacBook Pro to the Apple Store, and their "genius" there had it working fine with a DVI connection to a regular monitor. The Panasonic TV I have has HDMI connections and one VGA connection which does not support HD, but no DVI option. I want an HD connection to mirror or extend my MacBook Pro screen. At the Apple Store, they didn't have a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, so he could not try that out for me.
Anyone else have this configuration or another similar one with a Panasonic HDTV?
    Ideas? Suggestions? Anything?! Help!!
P.S. I'm running Mountain Lion, if that wasn't already obvious. Everything is up to date in my App Store as well.
    Thanks!

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Daisy Chain a second Monitor to Thunderbolt Monitor

I purchased a new Dell S2040L HDMI Monitor and I would like to Daisy Chain to my Thunderbolt. I plugged the Dell Monitor into the back of the Thunderbolt monitor and my Mac Book Pro (OX Version 10.9.4) will not reconize the Dell monitor as a second monitor. Is there a display setting that needs to be changed?

You could use a USB to DVI converter

but performance will be severly limited by USB and some functions won't work

  • Connecting iBook G3 as second monitor for iBook G4

I want to know if (and then how) I can connect my iBook G4 (running on OSX (10.4.5)) to an iBook G3, ultimately connecting the iBook G3 to a data projector, so that I can use presenter tools in PowerPoint.
iBook G4, iBook G3 Mac OS X (10.4.5) iBook G3 will be connected to the data projector
    iMac G5; iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

If I understand what you want to do, you want to use another iBook as a second monitor. Is that correct? If so, there's no way to get video into the second iBook. There's only a video output. You can connect your iBook to another monitor now or to a video projector. The image on the second monitor would mirror the iBook's. Screen Spanning Doctor allows you to have the desktop span across two monitors. Be aware though that SPDr is a system hack and could void your warranty if you use it.

  • Keynote 6.0 won't show on second monitor

I have update to Mavericks and Keynote 6.0.  I'm on a 15 inch Early 2011 MacBook Pro, and connected to a LG Display via VGA through the Apple VGA adapter.  When I try to play a slideshow, it only shows on the Mac Book Pro with the Presenter display behind it.  I tried clicking the switch monitors thing, but that does nothing except get rid of the Presenter display behind the show.  I hit the 'x' key to get the presenter display back.  I looked in preferences and other places, but I do not see a seting to show the show oon the other monitor.  The Apple help files are no help at all.  The weird thing that happens, is that I can drag the keynote app to the second monitor and hit "play" and it will work with the presenter display on the second monitor and the show on the MacBBook Pro.   Hitting 'x' gives the desired result, but when connecting to our projection system, or monitor, we do not want the app on the second monitor.  For what it's wooth, Power Point does work (Office 2011) as desired.  My question is; How do I fix Keynote to work properly?

I was teaching my first class post-Mavericks upgrade and was having a fit finding out, in front of my class of 33 graduate students, that my projection set-up wasn't working. I had read something about getting rid of the menu bar on a secondary display in Mavericks and decided to try it. Since then, I've also read that assigning Keynote to all desktops, with the "Displays have separate spaces" box checked, might also do the trick, but I won't have a chance to test this until Monday afternoon. Glad you got it working!

  • Viewing preview slideshow on two monitors

When I have two monitors working at the same time (20" apple flat + my 12" powerbook I have this problem: i go to view a slideshow from preview, nothing appears but a blank black screen. When I press the index sheet button, all the pictures appear in the index format clearly visible. I then press a picture from the index sheet and the selected photo zooms in to fill the screen where for a short moment ( say 1 second ) it stays before disappearing again to the black screen. Could anyone be so kind to let me know how to rectify this problem. But when I just use the powerbook to use preview's slideshow, it works. Please does any one know what the problem is here, and if there is a solution?

    Sorry if I was unclear.
Like the screen saver, I wish to play my slideshow on 2 monitors simultaneously (not either/or, one at a time, as your suggestion does).
Screen saver alternates between my 2 monitors, zooming and panning à la the Ken Burns effect. With hundreds of pics, it can go through them in half the time, without having to cut the individual slide duration in half.
I then go to iTunes separately to start a playlist playing.
It appears that when Aperture says that it can make use of 2 monitors, it's only one at a time. I use shift-s to create a quick slideshow that I show to customers; I have to hem-and-haw when they ask, "Why don't you show it on both monitors? Even Screen Saver can do that. I thought Aperture was a pro application."
