Line in with no rear speakers P7800

Is there a way to enable ALL rear speakers to play music (just want stereo) when using the LINE IN on the p7800 amp box?
when I use the LINE IN on the box the only speakers that play are the front, center, and subwoofer..no rear channels.
My sound card is a turtle beach riviera card and I have it set to 5.1 surround system.

Weird. I just installed Creative PlayCenter from the driver CD and after the reboot, line-in now comes out the rear speakers again. Must've been some system files updated or something, because CMSS is still off according to PlayCenter. When I turn CMSS on, the line-in stops coming out rear, but turning it off makes it work!!!! So it's sorted, but still have no idea why it screwed up and why I needed PlayCenter installed to change the CMSS settings.

I have tried everything that I can think of. It was working fine until I installed a program which screwed up my mixer settings. I have loaded the default mixer settings. Now my rear speakers only work for wave devices, but not line-in.
Is there a way to make line-in come out both the front and rear speakers, or set the rear speakers to duplicate the front speakers (losing the surround feature)?
Failing that I will have to resort to plugging both sets of speakers into the one socket via an adapter - I don't wish to do this as I had this working for many months.
    Please help.

  • V7.0.0.70 - Rear speakers not working

Having just updated to iTunes version 7.0.0.70, my rear speakers no longer work although they're fine with all other applications, just not iTunes. Even my Creative diagnostics say everything is fine.
I've been into QT and set the audio preferences so that "Sound Output" is:
    Rate - 44.1 kHz
    Size - 24bit
    channels - 5.1 (L R C LFE Ls Rs)
...and still nothing. The front and centre ones work fine.
Reinstalled QT...nothing....Did a repair install and got the rear ones working but then had terrible distortion. Decided to trash iTunes and QT and reinstall, and now I'm back with no rear speakers
I'm running XP Pro SP2 (fully patched)
    Anyone any ideas....please.

There seem to be loads of people with this problem, unfortunately there's also a deafening silence from Apple. Maybe their product testers are down the pub, where they clearly were when V7 was being developed. Are Apple the new Microsoft ????
I've gone back to 6.05 and HURRAH !!! all my speakers work again.
Moral of the story here is "if it ain't broke..." and if you must update then carefully reveiw the forums and web before taking the leap into the unknown.

  • Rear Speakers not functioning properly on X-Fi and Audig

Hello, I'm having an issue with my rear speakers. When I do a channel test, the rear outputs comes out the front speakers. It says "rear left, rear right" from the respected speakers in the front.
There is no sound that comes from the rear speakers unless I upmix it CMSS2 on the Audigy 2 and Stereo Surround on the X-Fi. When I do a channel test in this mode, it says "front right, rear right" from the right set of speakers and "front left, rear left" from the left set of speakers. There is no seperation of the individual speakers.
I also have this same issue with the output from rear speakers not functioning when I plug it into the onboard sound card and do a channel test. It's not the speakers because when I switch the green and black plugs in the soundcard, the rears work when plugged into the front output of the soundcard, so the the speakers are fine. I've even plugged headphones into the rear jack and get the same results.
    Here's my computer specs:
    Gigabyte GA-8NSLI ROYAL
    Pentium 4 640
    2xGB Patriot DDR2 700
    XFX 6800GT
SB Audigy 2 and SB X-Fi XtremeMusic(currently the X-Fi is installed)
    Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 500
    2xMaxtor DiamondMax0 300GB RAID
    2xMaxtor DiamondMax0 300GB
    Plextor PX-740A
    Lite-On LTR-4025S
    Kilpsch ProMedia 5.
I've tried disabling the TV card and the on-board audio, and that doesn't fix the problem. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers numerous times without any luck. It's driving me crazy not being able to play games or watch movies without true 5. surround. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I have the same problem.
I have a set of Logitech Z-5300s hooked up to a creative DDTS-00, and the X-Fi Platinum breakout box attached to the DDTS-00 via coax.
Front right is also rear right, and front left is also rear left.
There are other threads which have touched on the issue of digital streams like Dolby and DTS not being output in 5. surround (which is a bummer).
BUT, I am trying to do this using CMSS...is this not possible? I dont understand why CMSS wouldn't work over a digital connection, it's one of the selling features of the card!
Is the CMSS stero xpand option doable using the coax outputing to the DDTS-00? It would be really lame if it couldn't seeing as I upgraded from my onboard Soundstorm (which could do surround) to experience higher fidelity music while in surround sound...Message Edited by Ashram on 2-3-2005 04:4 AM

The speakers i am using are logitech Z-5500's. As i stated earlier, i can switch speaker connections at soundcard and get sound from the rear speakers. I have tried these speakers on another computer(audigy LS card) and they work on that one without any problems. I have tried the speaker settings console where it shows you a diagram of 5. layout and sound coming from each speaker as it goes around the diagram,it is showing sound symbol for rear speakers but, no sound out of speakers in rear. The creative diagnostics has been run and everything passes in it and shows no problems.

  • Problem with Rear Speakers (Inspire P5800)

    Hi,
I have bought the Inspire P5800 Sound System but I have a problem. When I do a soundtest with the driver software all speakers work but when I want to listen to music with Musicmatch Jukebox I don't get any sound on the rear speakers. I have on board AC97 sound on a Gigabyte K8NS motherboard.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks!
    robertthronhill

    robertthronhill,
That's normal as music are mostly in stereo and that's 2 channel only. Creative sound card have CMSS feature that upmix stereo to surround soundfield but since you are using onboard audio, you will have to check with your mainboard manufacturer if those audio card have similar feature also.

  • No rear speakers with quicktime update

Once I updated quicktime about 3 versions ago, I can't seem to get the rear speakers to play with videos. All four speakers work fine with music and any other file but just not with movies.
Anyone have similar problems and know how to fix this? So far I've just been reinstalling the old version which is a bit of a pain since everytime I update itunes it automatically installs the new quicktime.
I'm using a Dell 5100 with windows xp and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS card

Try installing the latest version of iTunes (7.0.1.8) from Apple's website. It fixed this problem for me although QuickTime is still showing version 7.1.3.

  • No sound in rear speakers with Sound Blaster Li

I have a Sound Blaster Li've sound card.. In win98 with older drivers it was possible to set the card to 5., but now (in winXP and newest drivers) there are these thrre optins: headphones, 2 speakers and 4 speakers... I use digital output and I have 5. speakers. I can li've with only 4 speakers but it does not work very good.
When i press the test button i hear the front left voice and the front right voice correctly in the front speakers, but i hear both voices in both rear speakers. But then the test is supposed to say rear left and rear right, but there is no sound. My receiver is a Harman/Kardon AVR 550 and is set to dolby pro logic and 5. speakers.
How do I solve the problem!

    All,
Are you using the Li'veDrvUniPack from our website or using the default Windows Driver? If you are using the default driver then there will be limitations. You will need to install the complete Li'veDrvUni-Pack from our downloads section to get 5. if you have a Li've! 5. card.

  • Audigy 2 ZS: Rear Speakers rather quiet with CMSS3D and Win

Hi there, my problem: using the new vista driver and enabling CMSS3D with the console I do get sound on the rear speakers (e.g. playing winamp), but they are rather quiet compared to the front speakers. I did not have this problem under xp. Controls are set to 0% (middle), and noise level are slightly under max. does it have to do with CMSS3D mode Under XP theres more options concerning CMSS3D, this might be the issue. Thx for any replies!

    Hi mikefrompoland,
For more information about 5.1 Surround Sound in iTunes, you may find the following article helpful (it is primarily aimed at Mac users, but the settings in Windows should be similar):

Note: For surround sound to work, the content being played must be encoded to support it.

  • Problem with rear speakers!

I bought new Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Card and I have problem. My rear speakers (DTT2200) don't work. They're connected well, I have newest audio driver and CMSS-3D is enabled. I tested speakers on Creative Control Console and only rear speakers don't work.5.1 speakers are enabled in control panel of WinXP.Please help,Albert.

Check its set to 5.1 everywhere, especially in the creative control (not 7.1 or stereo anywhere). Check your connections at both ends (sounds silly, but check theyre firmly in) and at the speakers too. Try hooking the rear connection up to the front output on the X-Fi to rule out a problem with the speakers. Check volumes everywhere, settings everywhere, etc. Things like this are normally just one small setting you have overlooked somewhere.

  • Get Sound From Rear Speakers with X-Fi XtremeMusic card

Have the SB X-Fi XtremeMusic soundcard combined with the Digital I/O Module so i can get digital sound through my 6. Sony Amp. I have the Digital I/O module connected to my amp via a Coaxial cable. I have set the speaker set up to 6., and have run the channel test in the Creative Console Launcher. Now heres the problem im having, i get the correct sounds coming from the front left, center, and right speakers, but when it tests the rear left speaker, the sound comes from the front left instead on the rear left, for the center rear the sound comes from the front center, and for the right rear the sound comes from the front right speaker. Can someone tell me how i get the correct sound come from the rear speakers please?

The Xbox encodes the sound on the fly to form a DD stream. No PC game encodes DD by itself, even when the game is DD certified it needs a soundcard capable of encoding it, like the soundstorm on the nforce2. If your receiver supports analog inputs use them, the DD compression would probably degrade the sound at least to the same degree than an analog connection.

  • 5.1 sound in games with Creative Digital-Speakers and Audigy 2

    Hi!
I know that you can't have real 5. sound (only upmix) in games with Creative Digital-Speakers. Is it possible to connect, without the decoder box, the soundcard with the subwoofer (Line-Out -3)? I want to make the cable for LIN_OUT 3 by myself, but which of the 4 pins are for the subwoofer, center front or center rear (ground is clear)?

Go to Knowledge Base article SID3069 then expand the "7. Soundblaster Cards".
It is possible to have 5. digital sound in games if your Creative speaker system has a digital DIN connection.

  • 5.1 - Rear Speakers in CS6

    Hi,
Thanks in advance for your help. I took an online course in Audition, but there are a few specific things that were not covered (and that I can't figure out on my own). This is one of them.
(You may need to scroll all the way down to see everything).
For the purposes of troubleshooting, I have a track soloed.
When I set the 5.1 pan settings like this, I hear sound out of the rear speakers (as I should):
When I set my speakers as shown in either of the below pictures, I hear NO sound out of either of the rear speakers (front speakers work fine). Notice, the ONLY thing that has changed between Pictures 1 and 2 is the ANGLE. All I did in Picture 3 is set the radius to 0%.
Why is this? I'm thinking I don't get the concept of how this works. I thought the white lines basically signified relative volume levels from each speaker.
Moreover, in the above-right scenario (the one with 0% radius), I can hear sound out of the LEFT, RIGHT, and CENTER speakers, but when I click the L and R buttons to mute the left and right speakers (shown below) I now hear nothing out of ANY speakers, including the Center speaker, which worked fine a second ago. Also, do I understand correctly that when the radius is at 0%, the 'Angle' and 'Stereo Spread' knobs do nothing?

However, I would still like to know what exactly you are looking at within the specs to determine that it has true surround sound instead of fake surround sound. For example, below is a link to the cheapest card I could find. What (specifically) about the specs makes it unsuitable for what I'm trying to do (apart from it not being PCIe)?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829180005
It doesn't get a good write-up, and specifically won't work with XP. And from what's said, it's not clear whether it will do what you want or not.
What do the "Wolfson chips" do better than any other "chip"? The specs I'm looking at are showing that the DSX has an ASUS AV66 chipset.
How big of a difference is there between 192kHz and 96kHz sample rate? (That's the difference between the DSX and DGX.)
Lastly, is it for some reason ill-advised to just use a 5.1 USB headset for audio editing instead of speakers? It seems like that would give the best quality and proper spread of speakers, while avoiding having to buy a sound card. Here is an example of what I mean:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1XY0J70519
There are more differences between the DGX and the DSX than you realise... the DSX has the better-sounding Wolfson D-A converters. The sample rate question is sort of irrelevant, and isn't really a difference between the cards at all, as nobody would dream of using one at 192k. And indeed, if you're playing MP3s through it, you won't be using it above 48k.
You can either mix sound for headset use, and it will sound weird on speakers, or do it the other way around (where it won't sound quite so weird on headphones. The way headphones interact with your head takes no account of what a room with you in it does to the way loudspeakers project sound, and you can only mix for speakers on speakers. (Actually there is a way around this with headphones, but it's technically rather complex, and very expensive.)
That particular set of headphones uses a built-in decoder, and runs from a 2.0 (ie, stereo) output with coded signals.
