Linking to local existing webpages

I know this topic has been raised before, at least for earlier iWebs, but I wondered if anyone has found a neat way of linking in existing local webpages (for example created by GraphicConverter) to iWeb-created pages?
FTR file-linking the entry pages (eg 'catalog.htm') in to iWeb results in the catalog page (without images etc) being imported into the iWeb home folder, linked to there and renamed. To get the intended linkage means manually editing the iWeb-created html link after publication to restore the correct relative (not of course absolute since that would often fail) link address, in a suitable text editor. OK but tedious.
It would be great if someone were to offer a gizmo to do this automatically! Or of course if iWeb were to import the pages intact - but this is not possible I think.

I don't know what you're doing sorry... But you don't have to edit anything manually post-publishing to make links...
If you're using .Mac
1. Create a folder in your iDisk/Web/Sites folder.
2. Name it something like 'pages' or whatever (important: if you name that folder pages be sure to not have a site in iWeb called pages)
3. Copy your .html files created in other applications that folder
4. web.mac.com/username/nameofthefolder/nameofthefile.extension is the address at which the file will be stored on the web
Example: http://web.mac.com/username/pages/nameofthefile.html
You now know the url so linking to that file from iWeb is really easy: you just have to make
Link to: an external page => http://web.mac.com/username/pages/nameofthefile.html
Again no need to edit anything post-publishing... You could also embed those pages into iWeb using an iFrame... This way they would look exactly like all other pages...

Correct link to local folder in excel

I have a datebase of materials in excel document with cells that have paths to folders where the materials are stored
I want to link my local folders from my network to these certain cells in Excel so that my friends both from PC and Mac could quickly access them.
Unfortunately, when I add folder address from my local network that starts from smb:// - the system doesn't understand that and turns it to local.
What is the right thing to do?

As far as I know it is not possible directly. I made a workaround though which implies making a webpage that does the trick (you'd need access to some webserver).
Make a simple webpage, eg http://www.yourdomain.com/excel2path.htm with this source code:

Then in excel the formula for the hyperlink should be something like:
=HYPERLINK("http://www.yourdomain.com/excel2path.htm?smb://serverx/folderx/filex", "friendly name to click on")
(with the CONCATENATE function you could dynamically build the smb-path)
Done. If you now click on the hyperlink in excel, the webpage should load which takes the smb-path from the URL and automatically redirects to that path...

Link to local document

I know how to link or hyperlink to a website while composing a new message, but how do I link to an existing local document?
This seems to be a standard feature of other email programs and would be greatly beneficial in our office if we could send links to documents instead of actual attachments.

So I must be missing some steps b/c I can only get to a place to enter a URL.
In a new message, I highlight the word or phrase, choose Link, then AddLink, and I only have the option to type a URL.

Thanks so much for that ... what a 'dynamite' solution. It's so easy. I don't know how you people know all of these things ! But one last thing if you can help me - I've just switched over to Mozilla/Firefox from I.E., and now I cannot open my Hotmail from Mozilla/Firefox. I log in, it goes to my 'Inbox' page, but when I click on an Email letter to open it, nothing happens. I can't even go into 'Drafts' or 'Delete' or anything.

Adding a paypal link to an existing sharepoint web site

I've been trying to add a paypal "pay now" link to and existing sharepoint 2010 web site. I've tried pasting the generated paypal code into both the content editor web part and the HTML form web part, but i seem to be having problems with the <form
action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post"> not working.
Any suggestions?

For anyone who is readying this for help..... this is what I've discovered about using PAYPAL with Sharepoint:
There is not a standard web part that will work with the paypal buttons (Pay Now, Add to Cart, etc) that you can get from the paypal site.
Mayur posted a link above that might work...haven't tried it yet.
You might be able to create an icon with a link to a paypal link. Haven't tried that yet either.
What i did that finally worked, was to create three simple HTML web pages (1) a web page for successful payment with instructions and information; (2) a web page for cancelled payments with contact information for help; and (3) a web page with payment options
and pictures.
Next I logged into PAYPAL and created PAYNOW and ADD TO CART buttons with the return urls for the successful payment and for the cancelled payment. (Creating buttons is an option under profile and Selling tools. The URLS are options under the
advanced features of creating a button.)
Finally, I added the buttons to my payment options HTML web page and they worked fine. Then I put a "RETURN TO MAIN SITE" button on the succesfull payment web page to take them back to my original site.
This has worked just fine for me so far.

Standard Data Collection Failing with Error ORA-04054: database link does not exist.

Hi Gurus,
When I am running Standard Data Collection in ASCP(APS) instance R12.1.3, its failing with error : ORA-04054: database link does not exist.
There is no such Database link exits which is showing in above error.
Also the database link name in the above error is not profile values in the database.
I think, concurrent might be fetching this database link name from some tables related to plan.
I am not having much knowledge about how this ASCP/APS works.
Need your help to resolve this issue.

OTL Error - Hrs - Element link does not exist for the duration of the entry

Hi,
We had a few new people start just before xmas however when the person entering their record did it, they didn't date-track the additional assignment time information record to the start of the week (they did however correctly date-track their employee and assignment record) so when the timecard was filled in errors were thrown up.
Since then I have gone back into the employees assignment time record, purged it and then re-created it effective from the week beginning.
However when we try to enter time for them now using delegated self service, the following error is shown for the two days which were originally excluded from the date-tracked record:
Hrs - Element link does not exist for the duration of the entry Cause: The link has been purged or date effectively deleted. Action: Check the effective start and end dates on the link definitions for this element. The original record should have been created from the 19th dec 2009 however was done from the 23rd by accident. I have since been in and replaced it with a record effective from the 19th.
I have re-run the security list generation (we are using static list).
The only thing I can find on metalink is 372086.1 which doesn't really describe the problem or help!!
The people don't appear in the timekeeper form though which is strange. I really can't see any reason why their record isn't valid - no data is missing. Do I need to run a job to update the information or something?

Well would you believe it!? After much late night meddling around, I noticed one employee worked! There was absolutely no difference in any settings between his record and a persons who did not work. So I went into another employees record, changed his name and saved (correcting). Tried again and he worked fine! So, just by changing the employee name it seems to have worked for self service! I still cannot see them in timekeeper which is worrying however at least we can get time in for them now!
If anyone knows why I may not be able to see them in timekeeper (even using an un-secured responsibility) then that would be a great help! :)

Hi John!
You cannot update an existing payment and link it to invoices.
You can only do the link during the Add operation.
This is true for DI server, DI and to B1 Application.
Once a payment is created it cannot be changed.

When at the "results" page of a search, clicking on "blue" link does not display webpage. Copying "green" urldoes.

Copying "green" url, shown at bottom of a result, into address bar and hitting "enter" goes to the address and displays the page. Have tried different selections at tools/options with no change. Is there some other setting that needs to be changed?

This is my first post in this forum....I've installed Solaris 10 recently in my ia64 pc.
I've encountered a problem configuring my network to create a pppoe connection to my ISP. To add a network interface I issued the following command:
#ifconfig hme0 plumbbut it gave me 'unknown interface hme0:DLPI link does not exist' error
on issuing#ifconfig -a I got there was only a loopback interface lo present in the list
I have two question here:
1) I've nVidia Corporation MCP73 Ethernet controller( is that called a NIC? ). Does Solaris 10 recognize them?
2) Is there any GUI tool to configure network in Solaris like network-manager in Linux?
and obviously a final question:
How to finally get rid of this error?

Thanks for your informations.Now I've been gradually realising the CLI-orientation of Solaris.In a large server environment automation is king. The easiest way to automate things is to use some scripting language. Not a GUI.
I've modified /etc/ppp/peers/myisp.tmpl and other /etc/ppp/*.tmpl file according to my need and added /etc/resolve.conf and /etc/defaultrouter files with primary and secondary IP and defaultroute in them.At last I issuedpppd call <ISP> and got a sppp0 pppoe interface connected.
My DNS client is in offline state and the following commandsvcadm -v enable dns/client
svcadm -v refresh(or restart) dns/client showed the resultsvcs -a|grep dns/client as offline.Impossible. There simply is no such thing as a DNS client. All the DNS client is, is a mechanism that support hostname lookups through the resolver libraries.
You need to check /etc/nsswitch.conf for the dns tag on the hosts and ipnodes lines. After that make sure that /etc/resolv.conf is populated correctly.
You can use dig or nslookup to see if it is setup correctly. Post the complete output of either one so we can see what you're seeing.

How do I configure safari to open external links in the existing window

The current version of Safari (8.02) always opens an external link (such as from Mail) in a new tab. I would like to configure so that it loads the link in the existing open tab (window). Is there a way to do that? If so can some one tell me how to do that?

Linc: I have seen that configuration page and none of those options allows you to configure Safari so that it will load an external link in an already open tab or window. I have looked in two different reference books on OS X (Mavericks not Yosemite) and not found any relevant information in their discussions of Safari.

HELP! Need help linking Nano to existing Nike+ account

Hope someone can help as I'm going out of my mind. I searched but couldn't find another topic like this.
I had to restore my nano (2nd gen) to its original factory settings in itunes, which erased all songs and data. My Nano is working great now, but it's no longer linked to my Nike Plus account. When I now connect the restored Nano, under the Nike + tab in itunes I cannot check the box to automatically send my workout data to Nike+. The only option is to register. I'm already registered but there isn't an option to link to an existing account?
After the restore on my nano, how do I link it in itunes to my existing Nike+ account that has all my run data stored? Like I said, the only option on Itunes is to register and that's not what I want to do since I already am registered!
I guess this would be the same problem if I bought a new Nano so I'm sure this question has been raised before.
Please help! I need this fixed before my run tomorrow! Thanks folks!

Yes, I checked the link you provided below and couldn't find any topic with a similar problem. I already did my run for the day so won't know until tomorrow if the receiver and sensor gather info but everything appears like it will work just fine. When I plug the receiver in the Nike+ option pops up in the menu and it looks ready to go. It even recognizes the sensor so I think that's okay.
I did email Nike Plus but they haven't answered yet.
When I connect the Nano to itunes, I cannot check or uncheck the box to automatically send the info. The only option is to "create a Nike account." I clicked this and tried to just add my existing account and it wouldn't let me saying it already exists.
There has to be a simple way to do this. Can't imagine you lose everything if you get a new Nano or have to restore one.
Maybe more options will pop up after my run tomorrow morning when I plug in the Nano to itunes with a run to send to Nike+
I'll let you know. Until then, any other suggestions would really be appreciated!

Acrobat 8.1- links to local files

I'm having several MS-Word-files, which have to be converted to PDF. All files contain hyperlinks to web sites as well as links to files on our local file-server.
Conversion works fine out of MS Word 2003, but links to local files do only work, if I open the created file on the file server. If I up load it to our web server and open it with a browser, the local files can not be found (links to Internet do work).
If I edit the link properties within the created file by changing the performed action from 'open a file' to 'open a web link', starting the URL with 'file://...', the links work correct.
Is there any possibility to tell Acrobat, that this has do be done while converting MS-Word-files?
I even tried to change the absolute address within MS-Word, e.g. adding http:\\ to the link, but Word didn't allow this...

But in other PCs the link works fine. It only happens in my Acrobat 9 Pro. In my mates PC the links works perfect.

Trouble adding a web url link to an existing file: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant:

We're trying to add a simple link to an existing Flash file. There looks to be at least 7 separate .as files and a separate swf that loads the main swf which all seems overly complex for what is essentially a page with six buttons on it.
However, we need to add a URL to some of the text. So we converted the text to a button, added an instance name of <ssbpurchasetickets_btn> then added the following Actionscript into the actions layer on the frame the text/button appears:

When we publish the file we get the following error which seems to cascade into a whole bunch more errors:
Description: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: MouseEvent.
Source: function ssbButtonPurchase(event:MouseEvent):void
We added "ssb" onto the button and functions to ensure there were no conflicts but the same thing occurred. If we copy the button into a new file everything works so it must be conflicting with something in the main files.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!!!

The file is set to use AS3 and I'm pretty sure the original should be set to AS3 as the .as files look like AS3 syntax to me - here's a sample:
