Listened to podcasts not deleted during sync

Hi All,
All of a sudden when I sync my iPod Touch to Tunes it no longer will properly sync listened to podcasts. They used to get synced to iTunes and marked as read. Now, they stay marked as unlistened in iTunes (blue dot) and get remarked on the iPod as unlistened to (blue dot) even though I have listened to the podcasts completely through to the end.
It almost appears as though the sync from the direction of iPod to iTunes has stopped functioning and I am only getting syncing in the direction of iTunes to iPod.
I have not changed any settings in iTunes. I have it set to sync unplayed episodes of selected podcasts which has always worked correctly for me in the past. My listened to podcasts used to be deleted from the iPod and only the unlistened/new podcasts would be synced to my iPod.
How do I correct this problem?
Thanks for your help.
Sue

I've seen and reported something like this as well. In my case, what I think I've figured out is that the "update podcast" function isn't happening UNLESS there is a new podcast episode downloaded for that subscription. I'm not seeing the heard/watched podcast getting remarked as unheard/unwatched on my iPod. If I go into the podcast list and ctrl-click and manually say "update podcast" it will delete the heard/watched episodes.
I never played much in the settings, but always have download all available and keep unheard podcasts selected. When this problem started I noticed a setting on each podcast regarding "auto delete" that I'd never noticed before. They seem to have been set randomly to "auto delete" or "don't auto delete", but again, I don't remember seeing or setting this before so it could have been something I did. I selected all the podcasts and set them to "auto delete".

  • Music not deleting during sync

I added a bunch of music to my iphone no issue. But then I got bored with some of it and unmarked said artists and genres from my sync settings and selected new stuff to replace it.
The new music added no worries. But the boring stuff wasn't deleted. I've checked it four times to make sure everything was unselected.
And no I'm not using iTunes Match.
I've tried resetting my iphone, tried toggling off Sync Music and then turning it back on. I'm not using a device backup so there's no old settings to have gotten corrupted.
And the double odd, my ipad isn't having this issue.

My one update: I talked with a Genius, and he said the memory fluctuation has to do with the converting to 128 kps.  Although now that I think about it, wouldn't that imply that as my phone memory changes from more left over to less, it should end up at the "more" level, with the less memory available value being for the non converted case?
Also what's odd is that if I turn off the convert option, my memory fluctuates by 4 GB, not 0.5 GB.  No one seems to be able to, or interested in, answering this question, but I thought I'd add more conundrum to the question.

It sounds like your iPad is sleeping or you lose your connection before the process completes.  Try plugging the iPad in to a power out and do the update.  Make sure you have a strong wifi signal.

  • Old podcasts not deleting in iTunes 11.1.5

I have iTunes 11.1.5 on my Mac and iTunes 11.1.5.5 for Windows but for some reason they are not deleting and keeping the latest podcasts.  I have the Automatically Download option set to most recent episode & episodes to keep most recent episode and I have the Auto Delete option turned on but I have podcasts going back to middle of February which is really what I don't want but I would like to see them updated for just the current week.  I've tried adjusting between turning off the Do Not Auto Delete and turning it on again but not seems to work.

    I'd check 2 things...
    1) In iTunes prefs, Devices, make sure devices are allowed to sync.
    2) Check that the USB to iPhone cable is actually working: is the iPhone's charge icon showing when connected?
Since Image Caption works, than that indicates the cable is OK.
My money is on the settings in iTunes is fouling things up.

  • JSESSIONID not deleted during SSO logout

We have a ADF/Struts webapp on OracleAS 10.1.2.0.2 protected by SSO (mod_osso). When a user logs off from SSO, all a success mark is shown from each partner app where the user was logged in (including our application), but the remains logged in to the webapp nevertheless.
I have tracked the problem down to the JSESSIONID cookie, which causes the user to be logged in the application as long as the cookie is present. All the strictly SSO-related cookies are deleted during the logout except the JSESSIONID for the SSO partner webapp. The user is always correctly logged out from e.g. OIDDAS after logout.
After logout, if I go and destroy the cookie either by manually deleting it from my browser or by closing the web browser, mod_osso shows immediately the SSO login page. i hav also verified by tracing the HTTP traffic that it is the JSESSIONID cookie that causes this behaviour.
In Metalink article Note:258200.1, it is said that JSESSIONID cookie is not directly related to SSO so why is it a key factor when deciding whether a user actually is logged off from the application? Furthermore, the metalink article clearly states that the JSESSIONID cookie is deleted during logout (which is not the case).
As far as I remember, we have never been able to see it working in our setup.
Can mod_osso/SSO/whatever be configured do delete the JSESSIONID during the SSO log off or what would be the correct way to get the logoff working? Furthermore, shouldn't mod_osso actually ignore the JSESSIONID cookie and only care about the SSO-related cookies when deciding whether to allow the user in?
    TIA,
    Markus

We solved the problem by implementing a Servlet filter that takes care of invalidating the user session if the user has logged out (either explicitly or through Global User Inactivity Timeout).
The solution follows the guidelines described in
Oracle Identity Management Application Developer's Guide section "9.4.1 Single Sign-Off and Application Logout" (http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/idmanage.1012/b14087/mod_osso.htm#BJFGAGIA)
IMHO, the solution is a bit overkill, but it solved the problem. We haven't yet tried the solutions proposed by Rodrigo.

  • How to restore music deleted during sync?

Apparently when you sync , if the music isnt bought from itunes it deletes all of your songs... how/can I get them back ?

    zombiegirllaura wrote:

I sync my 6th generation Nano every day, and I have thousands of songs from my own CDs that are not deleted, so I can't say I agree with your statement.
To get them back depends on which method you have chosen to sync. Personally, I manage which tunes are synced by syncing only checked songs. When I uncheck something that is already on my iPod and then sync, that song is removed from the iPod, but remains on my computer. When I want it back on, I just check it and sync again. I do this because I have more songs than will fit on my 16gb Nano. If I tried to sync them all, it would put on what it could, and stop when it was full. Could that be what is happening to you?
Other people manually sync, which I don't do, so I can't advise you on that.

  • Scheduling Lines not deleted during Product Heuristic

    Hi All
During Planning run in PPDS, Surlplus Schedule lines are not getting deleted. The Heuristic using is Planning of Standard lots in 3 horizons. Earlier these schedule line were created based on Dependant demand. Since the dependant demand is deleted, we were expecting that the surplus schedule lines gets deleted during Planning run. But it is not happening.
Please note that the surplus schedule lines are well with in the Horizons defind in the heuristic.
Interesting point here is, in RRP3 view, if we execute variable heuristic using heuristic Planning of standard lots, it is perfectly deleting Excess Schedule lines
whereas it is not with heuristics Planning of standard lots in 3 horizons
Am I missing any settings here?
    Please let me know

  • Why overdued pr is not deleted during DRP planning run in APO?

the PR information still contain external PR created in DRP planning mode and it was not deleted.
I am doubt about that the planning run in ROP planning mode cannot delete old PR before recalculating PR.

I found the root cause of this symptom and have a plan to fix them.
The root cause of it is that DRP planning run has not performed successfully.
    1. Details.
    For material: P174552
    This material’s BOD hierarchy is
    4860  (Reorder point based)
    └ 6000 (Reorder point based)
    └ 6080 (Period based)
For both 4860, 6000   Reorder point based  planning mode, but for 6080 Period Based planning mode.
This 6080’s Period based is incorrect because this material’s ABC grade is ‘N’; it should be Reorder point based.
As you see it in below screen-shot, there is error log  in DRP planning for this material.
I found that about 5% of materials has incorrect planning mode.
    2. Fixing Plan:
This weekend I will recalculate all material’s planning mode again and
will Run DRP planning process chain in monthly job again.

  • Files that "remember playback position" are not updating during sync

I listen to long spoken word MP3 files that are not podcasts. I have the "remember playback position" option checked on these files. I will add it to my library, sync it to my 2nd gen iPod shuffle, then go play it. The shuffle will remember the playback position fine. When I plug it into the computer again, iTunes used to update the files on my computer with the new playback position from the shuffle. This is not the case anymore. The local files will stay at the spot where they were at the original sync (0:00 in most cases). The files on the shuffle will then go back to 0:00 as well. This is very annoying. Any ideas?
P.S. I'm using the newest Shuffle that was released along with the 4th gen Nano (mine is the 2GB blue).
I know this is supposed to work because I had a silver 1GB shuffle in 2007 that worked fine.

ROFL I've named this thread "Shuffle Woes" in my favorites list. I seem to have fixed this strange and VERY elusive problem for now.
I discovered a duplicate music file that had the same metadata as another music file. The only difference between the two files was the name of the physical file on the hard disk AKA the file name. The metadata (tags) were exactly the same. Now that I've deleted one of the two files everything seems to magically work again. Don't ask me!
If the problem resurfaces again I'll be back. No more shuffle woes!

  • Played Podcasts not deleted...

I'm trying to understand what's going on here: I subscribe to several video and audio podcasts, including TED talks. I have the settings set for the default... when a new one is available, download the latest. Keep only the unplayed podcasts. All seems fine. I watch a podcast on my iPad or listen on my iPhone and with the next sync, it disappears from the device and shows as played in iTunes. I always assumed that unchecking the little box in the iTunes podcasts window would mean they would be eliminated from the computer. Not so. Looking in the iTunes Music/Podcasts folder on the Mac, I've just realized the podcast stays in iTunes. And in the case of TED talks, a LOT of them are held in iTunes. So to eliminate them (and get the hard drive space back) do I have to delete them manually? And, by the way, then what does that little checkbox do really?
Thanks for any explanations, suggestions, or help!

this worked for me until 10.1. Now played podcasts are no longer deleted from itunes.
In a prior version there was a bug where you can to select only the individual podcast episodes and not the podcast name, then you could also select "allow auto delete". That doesn't seem to fix it for 10.1

  • Podcasts not Deleting

Does anyone know the rules for how an iPod Classic determines that a Podcast has been listened to and should be deleted from the iPod on synch with iTunes? I have a number of Podcasts that are marked as listened, but are still on my iPod. (I only keep new podcasts on my iPod.)
    Thanks!

Could you please explain how to delete INDIVIDUAL podcast EPISODES? so that I do not run out of disk space on my iPod mini...

  • Podcast not deleting

    Hi,
my podcasts is not syncing correctly...
I set it to "keep all unplayed episodes" on the itunes setting
and I set "sync all unplayed episodes" on the ipod
Now I think with itunes 6... it should delete all the podcast that has been played and keep all the unplayed ones and sync it to the ipod...
But now with itunes 7... it always keep all the podcast even though it has been played (no blue dots)
Secondly, I just notice... I went into podcast library there is no podcast, because I delete all that has been played...
But then I made a smart playlist with "my rating is 0 stars" rule... guess what... i can see about 60 something podcasts that I deleted a long time ago... And it still can be played... now... I can't find these in music, video, or podcast library... how am I suppose to delete these files? The Only thing I can do is to uncheck them and delete them directly from the folder/hardrive... As it turns out it is still in my ipod...
    so my questions are
1 how to sync my podcast and automatically delete all played podcast?
2 how do I delete these podcast that I can't find in the library? the only way for me to find these "hidden" podcasts is by using smart playlist... but i can't delete from smart playlist...
Now in the smart playlist, it still show these "hidden" podcast, it show the ! sign, but i can't delete them...
    thanks

  • Playlists delete during sync

When I sync my ipod it deletes any playlists that I have made on my ipod and replaces them with ones I don't want from my itunes on my computer. It is driving me mad as I have to manage all my playlists on Itunes which is slow on my machine anyway.

I have been experimenting with my iPod 60 GB and Nano.
Updating of playlists does occur in both directions usually.
But those songs that I listened to on the 60 GB in the car, when connected via the dock connector to a charger and FM transmitter do not update.
I will see if this is the case with the Nano as well the next time I use it in the car.
Is this to be expected? Is it because it is not playing through the earphone plug? Or is the transmitter/charger at fault? or what?

  • Photo.app crashes. Can not delete or sync photos. Stuck!

On my iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.1:
Photo.app crashes whenever i try to delete certain photos from my camera roll. It freezes and I have to exit the app with the front botton. I have the crash logs on my computer.
The iPhone appears in iTunes, however photos do not sync.
The iPhone does NOT appear in Image Capture, iPhoto, or other photo importing programs.
Now I am really stuck - ! I have no way to delete the (presumably corrupted) photos from my iPhone!
If I "Erase all content and settings" from the iPhone, it once again appears (empty) in Image Capture. However, if I then restore the iPhone from a backup, the photo roll is restored and it has the same problem. If I do not restore the iPhone, I lose all my apps, contact info, etc.
I am an Apple developer (MacOS, iOS) so I have expert skills tackling problems like this, but now I'm stumped!

I had the same problem and spent 4 hours troubleshooting with Apple Tech Support. We uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, drivers and checked every setting that had anything to do with my iPhone. As usual I was told that I need to restore my phone which is always my last option. I actually read your post and began to panic as it became clear that even after a reset I would get the same photos back when I synched and restored. Last time that I restored to new it took me 3 solid hours to tweak my phone back to the way it was. When I realized that I was basically screwed and was going to lose my photos I began to email them to myself one at a time. When I got to one picture I discovered that I had found the corrupt photo. I was not able to send it as it turned into a question mark when I tried to send to myself. I tried to delete 50 times but it froze my phone each time and wouldnt remove itself from my camera roll. I tried to select photos but each time that photo appeared in the window the app crashed and shut itself down. I had scheduled an appointment with the genious bar and figured I would call tech suoport one last time before I went through that nightmare and while I was on hold I pluged my phone into my computere and tried to delete the phote while plugged into my laptop and out of nowhere an error window popped up notifying me that my photo app experienced an error and would repair itself which within four seconds it did and the corrupt photo dissapeared. I cant tell you how relieived I was and my phone works perfectly well now. I tried to explain the results to the tech that finally answered but he didn't seem to care that much. I hope this works for you next time.
