Livecache - SAPOSCOL and CCMS - installation directory?

Hello.
For a LiveCache install on Unix, what subdirectory within the LC directory structure would you recommend that we install SAPOSCOL and CCMS?   The notes on the typical installs of those tools are not written based on a livecache directory structure.
What is your experience?
Thank you,
John

Hello Domnic,
-> You are running liveCache =>  you are SAP customer.
Did you create the SAP ticket where this issue is reported?
-> "The notes on the typical installs of those tools are not written based on a livecache directory structure."
Please update with the SAP notes numbers you gave the reference for.
-> "what subdirectory within the LC directory structure would you recommend that we install

What is the version of your system? What is the version/SP of the SAP Basis on your system?
What is the version of the liveCache you are running on the system?
What is the OS of the liveCache server?

  • Home Environment - How to set up Update Retriever (UR) and Thin Installer (TI) in a home environment

    Serenityvalley wrote:
You need to go to This Page and download just about everything on it -espeically the  System Update Deployment Guide and start reading.  It'll take you a few hours to learn what you need to do and implement it if you are familar with editing system registeries and you have some luck and everything goes well.
You do NOT need to edit registry, just use Thin Installer instead of System Update on the clients. And there is no need to wade thru the deployment guide if you are setting this up in a home environment for just one or two clients.
Edit: Note that Thin Installer does not run on Vista SP2 (neither does System Update.)
Here are the few simple things you have to do:
    1. Download Update Retriever (UR) and Thin Installer (TI) from here.
    2. Install UR on one pc and TI on all clients you want to keep updated. UR installs into the Start -- All Programs -- Thinkvantage folder, TI installs into c:\program files\thininstaller.
    3. To initialize Update Retriever:
    a) specify the download folder, pick a place all clients can access. Create a new folder, TI will be confused if there is other stuff in it.
    b) change the settings to Severity -- Optional (assuming you want to see critical, recommended and optional downloads in the list), License -- Do not display and Status -- Active. After clicking next you enter the machine type, the op system and its language for each client you need to keep updated. Note that unless you change status to active everything will download as "test" and thus not be installed by the Thin Installer.
    4. Run the download, about 1 - 1.5GB for the first type, opsys and language combination  and an additional 0.5 - 1GB for each additional type depending on amount of overlap. You can be selective what you download but if you are an average home user -- just download all the items for your type/opsys/language combination(s) -- Thin Installer is a stripped down version of System Update and will decide what to install on the individual client. This is a one-time download, next time you run Update Retriever it will just download new drivers.
    5. To initialize TI on each client, copy the program from the Program Files directory and paste a shortcut to the desktop. Then rightclick on the shortcut and choose Properties, and in the target field of the shortcut tab after "C:\Program Files\ThinInstaller\ThinInstaller.exe" add the following: -repository your_UR_download_directory.
    6. Run the Thin installer on each client, it will perform exactly as System Update did, down to making the same mistakes that System Update did.
    7. As the date is getting close when Windows Update will start distributing Vista SP2 you may want to consider using Microsoft's SPBlockerTools preventing SP2 installation for up to 12 months.
    8. Debugging Tips
TI ending with message An error occurred while gathering user information is reported when running under Vista SP2 -- TI will not run in SP2.
Getting TI to "see" the database downloaded by UR is the main problem. If TI ends with a message saying corrupt or not found database you probably made a spelling mistake in the directory specified in the -repository parameter. If TI ends with a message saying no applicable packages to install it can mean a number of things:
    a) If you are unused to modifying the parameters in a shortcut you may have added -repository to the second field in the shortcut tab instead of the top field labeled Target, the two fields look very similar or you just made a typo in "-repository".
    b) Open UR again and first choose Modify settings on the left and double check that the directory there is the same directory you specified in -repository. Then choose Manage repository -- Update view and double check that all packages have status Active. If they don't it's not necessary to download again, just select all and hit the modify button to change status from Test to Active.
    c) In C:\Program Files\ThinInstaller\logs there are update logs from TI. Open one using Notepad and in edit menu search for the string
    Message: 'Share name' to use:
This will tell you in which directory TI is searching for the updates. If it can't find a -repository parameter it uses an empty default databse
    d) If you used System Update regularly up to when it stopped working on April 1 and if you have an older model with not so many new driver updates it may actually happen that there are no new updates for your machine (even though you downloaded a lot.) Go to here and enter all fields except model to see what Lenovo shipped after April 1. (Don't click on driver matrices, staying on the downloads and drivers pages will give you a list in chronological order with the ones after April 1 at the top.)  Also  be aware that the database UR downloads from is at least 2 weeks behind when the drivers first become available on the web. Right now, the only new download in the database  applicable to most notebooks after April 1 is the Access Connections 5.22 driver. To check what release you have installed open Access Connections and go to help.
I just did a clean install of a Vista64 system on my T500 and after installing the first few drivers manually (including drivers for harddisk and ethernet) let Thin Installer install the remaining 36 items for me. The only item left to fix was the known bug in the Ricoh 4 in 1 card driver SU installation. (For a clean install you need to run TI or SU more than once, it doesn't find all drivers the first time.)

Did you change status from test to active in UR before downloading? If not you can change the downloaded items in the manage repository menu.
Assuming the items you did download were not already installed on your client with TI it should work.

  • Creative Cloud - BUG Changing Installation Directory for Apps

I searched and could only find this similar post here
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5498967#5498967
Which stated the issue I am experiencing.  In the preferences of the creative cloud desktop program I changed the installation directory to D drive because I have my main hard drive partitioned and the programs would take up too much space on C.  Regardless of the change in preferences the applications were still installing to my C drive.  I tried restarting and reinstalling and nothing seemed to work.
Finally I decided to reallocate my D partition back to C, I have yet to complete this because I am waiting for all the data on D to be transferred to an external drive so I can recombine it to C without losing data ( I don't know if this is necessary, I haven't recombined partitions in the operating system before, but just to be safe)
    ANYWAY
As I am waiting for the transfer (Over 120gbs takes a while)  I changed the installation directory in the Creative Cloud preferences back to C and went ahead and installed the program I was trying to prior to all this.  Guess What?  It installed to my D drive!!!
This isn't a serious bug for me, just incredibly annoying and causing a lot of extra work on my part just to install the program I wanted.  However for someone who requires a different directory to install to and cannot rearrange their computer to accommodate this bug I could see it being more serious.  Has anyone else had this issue and did you find a solution?  Thanks.
P.S. Adobe you rock, I hope your other CC programs don't feel rushed for release like your installer does

ADOBE WILL TRY TO DELETE YOUR LEGACY APPS!!!!  Do NOT let them! They could put you out of business! Here is a tech support transcript, see for yourselves:

ADOBE CUSTOMER: I need to know that NONE of my legacy adobe apps will be affected. CS5 suite and CS6 products will NOT be affected is that right??????????????

ADOBE CUSTOMER: WHOA! you are saying that my CS% and CS 6 apps will be hurt and not run correctly is that right?

ADOBE CUSTOMER: There is no way I give permission to delete CS5 creative suite, CS6 video production suite or hurt them in any way what so ever. I have THOUSANDS of dollars of plugins and other workfow products that depend on them. Sorry but my only recourse is to
ADOBE CUSTOMER: see if you have ANY loyalty to an OVER 30 years adobe customer (me) when you demand payout for the remaining 5 months of the subscription. I'm betting you will just send the bill to collections for non payment. If so, you WILL be sued for non service and non delivery of product. And yes, I am ready to spend over xxxx on a suit vs adobe because of how you have treated me. The point is I know that I am not alone, and that's sad.
Then after TECH NO SUPPORT, CSRs try to 'handle' me:
If you do decide to cancel, we can refund your subscription.
If you stay with the service, we can provide 2 free months as an apology for the technical difficulties. We cannot provide a free year.
Please let me know which you would like to do.

ADOBE CUSTOMER:You want me to stay with a service that provides no product? And has not provided me with a usable product since October of 2014? And now the word is out that you are raising subscription prices after the first year? Who do you think you are? You HURT peoples ability to earn a living! You cost us hours and days and months trying trying to fix your problems so we can move forward with your products? Who in the hell do you think you are? Tell you what, dont cancel a thing. A media blitz and maybe a subpoena to San Jose is the right move to protect peoples rights. Your company needs to learn a lesson in how to treat legacy customers. It seems no one has taught you that "if you take care of the customer, they will take care of adobe." Britt, care to guess how many dollars I have given adobe in almost 30 years?

ADOBE CUSTOMER: You see, that is EXACTLY how you should take care of a customer. Tell them they are wrong and have it NOT RELATED to a simple request to FIX a company software PROBLEM. Tell your customers that after FOUR months of unusability of your product, DAYS of the customer trying to fix the company problem, that your solution is give them TWO months FREE then JACK the price up for them! You MUST have thousands of people in LINE to YOU to get this celebrated DEAL!

I would hush up now before you have to look for a different job because I know you mean well BUT you have no experience or skills solving a client's issues and in fact, you are hurting adobe's future earnings.

ADOBE CUSTOMER: The Russian cracked version of PS 2014 will have to do on another clients machine until you have a total new WORKING release. I'm tired of being your company's test pig, doing the boiler plate cleaner routines, and having the same failures. It's one thing to have broken software, but NOT acceptable to treat customers the way I have been treated, and then, be greedy on a remediation offer from you.
You say,"We value all our customers."  Again, clearly NO ONE from the BOD has taught you that if you take care of the customer, then the customer will take care of adobe.
You guys and gals have essentially asked for a fight, and a fight you shall have. good night.

  • Installation Directory BO/InstallData/InstallCache/ needs a lot of space

    HI together,
maybe someone of you know a solution?
We have installed a BO4.0 Enterprise Server, and we installed a lot of patches since now.
The installation directory (BO/InstallData/InstallCache/) needs now a lot of space.
Is it possible to reorganise this directory or is it possible to delete some files?
    Thanks in advance
    David

    Hi David Bartuli,
Run Disk Cleanup you will get some space.
Right click the drive Select Properties. Click Disk Cleanup....
If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use Disk Cleanup. It removes temporary files, empties the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of system files and other items that you no longer need.

  • Why do we need write access to Java installation Directory

We are Upgrading from Siebel Analytics 7.8 to OBIEE 10.1.3.4.
As OBIEE needs Java 1.5 or higher as a pre-requisite we are planning to uninstall Java 1.4 and install latest version of Java 1.5.
According to OBI Installation and Configuration Guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/b31765.pdf -> Page 39 "If you are installing using the Basic installation type, make the user or user group permissions
writable for the user installing Oracle Business Intelligence, for all JDK 1.5.0 installation directories,
subdirectories, and files". Can anybody let me know why we need write access to Java Installation Directory??
    Thanks,

I had this same question and asked Oracle. Here's what I was told:
    Per Dev:
"For OBI Presentation Services and OBI Publisher, jdk fonts files are copied into the JDK location because we do not bundle our own JDK. To ensure the install can do this you need to ensure that the Oracle BI installer has permissions to copy files to the specified JDK location.
This means that if the same user who installer/untarred JDK is also installing Oracle BI, the install should work. In this case the the permissions of the JDK is probably 755.
It will not work if a root user installs JDK and a normal user installs Oracle BI because the normal user does not have access to write to the JDK location or will not work if the JDK location is read-only, i.e. 444. In this case running chmod -R 777 will work."

  • Relationship between Solution Manager Diagnostic and CCMS

We are just now looking at Solution Manager Diagnostics and central monitoring in Solution Manager.  One thing we are not clear on, and haven't seen anything definitive on, is the relationship between these  and CCMS.
Any insight or link to documentation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Jeff Henke

Solution Manager Diagnostics is a diagnostic tool, not a real-time monitoring and alerting tool.  CCMS is for real-time monitoring and alerting, and SMD does in fact get data from your CCMS agents, as well as from saposcol and Wily Introscope.
    Hope that helps,

  • Installation Directory Path Permissions

    Hi,
I have a SCCM 2012 Virtual Lab as follows:
Host - 2012 R2, Hyper V Role installed. Nothing else.
VM: 2012 R2 DC Edition. SQL 2012 installed on D Drive. SCCM 2012 Installed on D Drive.
    Issue:
All folders within D:\Program Files\Config Mgr are "Access Denied" to the account I created for SCCM Installation. This account is a member of domain admins, enterprise admins, Schema Admins. (It's only a lab......)
I could not even find log files until I gave myself access to the LOGS folder. This happens to every folder within the parent installation directory. I am assuming this is not normal. Could someone please confirm that I can just say "Yes" when
the OS asks me if i want access? I'm having issues with PXE which I cant help but feel could be caused by the lack of access across all these folders.......
Interestingly, I have had this numerous times on other Server 2012 deployments and on Windows 8! Maybe this is an underlying inherent behvaiour??? Much appreciate any responses regarding this.
    Cheers everybody

  • Change the Standard Installation Directory of SMD Agent

    Hi Everyone,
Standard Installation Directory of SMD Agnet is /usr/sap/SMD which I want to change & Install the SMD Agent
    under /usr/sap/<SID>/SMD directory
I dont want maintain soft link way
Is it possible , If yes then How ??
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Deepak Gosain

    Dear Deepak Gosain
Keep in mind that Diagnostics Agent 7.11 is the new version for SAP Solution Manager EHP1 > SP20. Depending on your current version of Solution Manager you might want to start installating the new version.
The new version has it's own unique SID and acts like a SAP system: for example for stop/start it uses stopsap and startsap commands, instance profiles and SAP JVM instead of OS JVM.
Structure in new version is /usr/sap/<SID>/SDMA<instance no> where SID needs to be unique (so not your existing SAP system SID).
    Kind regards

  • How can I remove asm and ocr installation in AIX?

    Hi,
I try to install single instance with using ASM in AIX.
But I did not make successfully.
Now I want to remove ASM and OCR installation then
I will plan to make new clear installation.
How can I remove asm and ocr ??
Or How can I control my removing is fully correct ?

    1) ASM Instance Clean-Up Procedures
Stop all of the databases that use the ASM instance that is running from the Oracle home that is on the node that you are deleting.
On the node that you are deleting, if this is the Oracle home which from which the ASM instance runs, then remove the ASM configuration by completing the following steps. Run the command srvctl stop asm -n node_name for all of the nodes on which this Oracle home exists. Run the command srvctl remove asm -n node for all nodes on which this Oracle home exists. If there are databases on this node that use ASM, then use DBCA Disk Group Management to create an ASM instance on one of the existing Oracle homes on the node, restart the databases if you stopped them.
If you are using a cluster file system for your ASM Oracle home, then ensure that your local node has the $ORACLE_BASE and $ORACLE_HOME environment variables set correctly. Run the following commands from a node other than the node that you are deleting, where node_number is the node number of the node that you are deleting:
    rm -r $ORACLE_BASE/admin/+ASMnode_number
    rm -f $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/*ASMnode_number
If you are not using a cluster file system for your ASM Oracle home, then run the rm or delete commands mentioned in the previous step on each node on which the Oracle home exists.
    2) Deleting an Oracle Clusterware Home Using OUI in Silent Mode
!!! Oracle recommends that you back up your voting disk and OCR files after you complete the node deletion process.
If you ran the Oracle Interface Configuration Tool (OIFCFG) with the -global flag during the installation, then skip this step. Otherwise, from a node that is going to remain in your cluster, from the CRS_home/bin directory, run the following command where node2 is the name of the node that you are deleting:
    ./oifcfg delif –node node2
Obtain the remote port number, which you will use in the next step, using the following command from the CRS_home/opmn/conf directory:
    cat ons.config
From CRS_home/bin on a node that is going to remain in the cluster, run the Oracle Notification Service Utility (RACGONS) as in the following example where remote_port is the ONS remote port number that you obtained in the previous step and node2 is the name of the node that you are deleting:
    ./racgons remove_config node2:remote_port
On the node to be deleted, run rootdelete.sh as the root user from the CRS_home/install directory. If you are deleting more than one node, then perform this step on all of the other nodes that you are deleting.
From any node that you are not deleting, run the following command from the CRS_home/install directory as the root user where node2,node2-number represents the node and the node number that you want to delete:
    ./rootdeletenode.sh node2,node2-number
If necessary, identify the node number using the following command on the node that you are deleting:
    CRS_home/bin/olsnodes -n
Perform this step only if your are using a non-shared Oracle home. On the node or nodes to be deleted, run the following command from the CRS_home/oui/bin directory where node_to_be_deleted is the name of the node that you are deleting:
    ./runInstaller -updateNodeList ORACLE_HOME=CRS_home
    "CLUSTER_NODES={node_to_be_deleted}"
    CRS=TRUE -local
Deinstall the Oracle Clusterware home from the node that you are deleting using OUI as follows by running the following command from the Oracle_home/oui/bin directory, where CRS_home is the name defined for the Oracle Clusterware home:
    ./runInstaller -deinstall –silent "REMOVE_HOMES={CRS_home}"
Perform step 9 from the previous section about using OUI interactively under the heading "Deleting an Oracle Clusterware Home Using OUI in Interactive Mode".

  • Sequence app with modify rights to installation directory

    Hey there
I've got an application, where the user must have Change / Modify Rights to the Installation Directory. By Default, the Installation is installed in C:\Vendor\App1. If i just install the application locally the application can be launched without any
    problem.
I tried to sequence the App with App-V 5.0 SP2 HF4 with PVAD "C:\Vendor1" and i selected the Option "Allow virtual application full write permissions to the virtual file System" on the Advanced Tab of the Sequencer. If i start the application
i get an error that the database (Application is an Access addin) is only in read mode, and that the application can't get startet.
Also i'm not able to manually add or modify rights in the Installation Directory.
Have i missed something? Isn't the Option "Allow virtual application full write permissions..." for this case?
    Thank you in advance!
    Best regards, Simon

In the first post I read it as you captured to PVAD, and in the post above you set it to VFS.  Did you do a second capture?  If not which are the files in?
You can always run procmons, etc, to try to figure out what is going on.  The application can always be doing something 'weird', unfortunately its hard to give you a really solid solution with all the potential variables.
You could upgrade to SP3, and resequence.  Beyond that, you could try going into the VE, and writing a dummy file to that DIR, to see if you get any permissions error.  Does the program put itself into PATH or anything like that?  If there
are references to the C:\ProgramData location, its possible the program is trying to write to that folder, which is the outside folder you can't write to.

  • OT: Permissions for FrameMaker installation directory

I have never run into this before. I jumped into my FrameMaker installation directory, because some things in maker.ini are not available in the copy in my profile path (such as paste preferences), and I was blocked from saving changes because I lacked permissions.
Why do IT departments lock that down?
I mean, clearly programs can install there, so a virus or malicious code could still do harm, but why do they lock me, the local admin, out? Any thoughts.
Also, let's pass along to Adobe the need to move all those ini settings somewhere else.
    Cheers,
    Sean

Psst – if you’re getting locked out of your own c:\ drive, you’re not a local admin – you may have to “promote” yourself to give yourself rights to those folders – since Vista, Mr. Bill’s been trying to protect us from ourselves (LOL)

  • SCCM 2012 Installation Directory Registry Key chaning automatically to Old Installation Path

    Hi Guys,
I have recently recovered SCCM 2012 SP1 CAS Site from Primary Site by reinstalling CAS site and database was replicating with Primary sites properly after CAS recovery. But we noticed that after approx. 2 hours of CAS site recovery database replication stopped.
After long digging into SCCM log files we found that SCCM installation directory was pointing to old CAS Site Installation Directory (Which was before recovery) instead of NEW Installation Directory so we changed SCCM CAS Site Installation Directory manually
to new installation path in below registry key and everything was running fine again on CAS Site.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Identification
But again when we restarted SMS_EXEUTIVE Service, SCCM Installation Directory again changed to old installation patch under above registry location and all is bad again. We are unable to figure out what is causing this and even we formatted our HDD before
    installation CAS Site.
Can anyone please help to get rid of this issue. Our while CAS site is down due to this issue.
    Thanks.

I think that you have to use the same installation directory in a site recovery scenario.

    Hi Nicola,
Have you disabled UAC on your terminal server ?
Is this Windows 2008 Terminal Server ?
Have you tried to install the client from the installation file and not from the browser page.
For example, on your BPC server which has the Web Server role, in the PC_MS WebServer directory, there should be an installation folder with the executable files for the BPC and admin client. You can try to install BPC using the executable installation files.
If UAC is still enabled, try to run the installation as Administrator, right click on the file and "Run As Administrator"
    Hope this helps.
    Kind Regards

  • Installation Directory in Xcode 4

I'm writing Mac app for my own use only.
I keep in certain folder all my AppleScript Editor apps and run them from there.
"Xcode also has an Installation Directory build setting that lets you install a build product in a specific location. The Installation Directory is in the Deployment collection."
How i tell Xcode 4 to put working copy of app to this custom folder without moving any stuff in DerivedData folder?
I can't have any DerivedData stuff in this folder, because it would mess my workflows.
    Thanks

1st. create a new viewController in your storyboard.
2nd. create new file that's called objective-C Class, choose a name for your class (example SecondViewController) and make sure that you have selected UIViewController.
If you have created that file go to you SecondViewController.m, and scroll down to
    return (interfaceOrientation != UIInterfaceOrientationPortraitUpsideDown);
    Delete: return (interfaceOrientation != UIIinterfaceOrientation PortraitUpsideDown);, and put in state of that: return YES;
Dont forget to link up that SecondViewController to your new viewController in storyboard.
I hope that this will solve your problem.
