LMS telnet problem

We're running LMS 3.1.  Whenever I try to telnet to any device I get a message "Application Not Found".  What application is it trying to open and how do I change it?

I assume you mean from Device Center?  If so, then you need a telnet.exe on the server.  You may need to follow http://forums.vandyke.com/archive/index.php/t-2074.html (or something similar) to make sure the telnet:// URL is handled properly.

    Hi all,
I have a problem with ASA5520 and reverse telnet. I recently upgrade IOS on ASA5520, asa921-k8. Problem is that cisco has latest IOS version asa91x.... for this platform.
I have 7201 on remote site, and connect his aux to asa console. When I do telnet to specific port, this is output:

I don't know what to type to enter in rommon mode. I tried every combinatios of characters but nothing. I used Putty, SecureCRT.

So ESC isn't working during boot? FYI 9.2 is not supported on non-X ASA chassis (which I'm sure you have now figured out). You can also try changing the escape sequence so ESC will work. Check this link on how to change that.

  • Telnet problem

    Hello.
I have Cisco Router 876 Series, and have problem with telnet. i cant connect via telnet from remote office to my router. does anybody know how to solve that problem.
I have two vlan, vlan 1 is a nativ vlan and it is config for inside network, and vlan 2 for outside.
    and fa0, fa1, and fa2 interface is in vlan1, while fa3 is in vlan2.
    Anybody please!!

you stated you have it configured for ssh. does ssh work? i would suggest using that anyway. perhaps you have it only configured to use telnet from inside not outside aswell.
you will need something like this
    telnet 10.1.2.0 255.255.255.0 outside
regardless of what you have in acl if you dont apply telnet to ouside it just wont work.

When telnet to a Catalyst 6509 with CatOS 6.4 (8), first nothing appeared, then press enter, showed the screen with 2 "Enter pasword:". This behavior prevent Cisco works from updating configuration to these devices. Does anyone have the idea how to resolve this problem?
    Thak you in advance.

Take a look at the following bug

You will need to upgrade CAT OS to get past this bug.

  • Telnet problems

    Hi guys,
Okay so i have 4 cisco switches 3500 and 1 3750E(core switch) on a subnet like 10.1.7.* configured for telnet. Between them telnet works but when i try to access them from a different subnet it doesnt work and i used the ip default gateway command set up my gateway.Im thinking the problem is with the router witch is not a cisco one its a pfsense.Any ideas? Thanks. i dont really have access to the router but there shouldn't be a rule that is denying this
dunno about the routing protocols or if its needed some networks to be added.
    Best Regards,
      Cristian

    Hi,
It sounds very much like a route is missing, either on the host with the telnet client which is missing a route to the 10.1.7.x network via the correct gateway, or the routing table on the pfsense doesnt know about one of networks.
Check the routing tables on all devices end to end and make sure they know about both the source and destination networks.
You can also try a tracert if its a windows box and see how far the trace gets.
    Hope this helps.

  • RV110W telnet problems

I have Comcast Business internet, an SMC modem in "passthru" connected to the RV110W which in turn connects to my network. I have one server on the network that I want to telnet to. I have set-up port forwarding port 23 to 192.168.1.xx (server). On the internal LAN if I use a command prompt and telnet to the server, every thing is fine. If I try to access the server from a remote, It won't connect on port 23." could not open connection to the host on port 23". Where am I going wrong. I need the router because I have one static IP. On my old DSL connection everything was fine but I needed to switch because of mail server problems.

I have just created my login, and the other logins worked fine earlier. Nothing has been changed on the machine that I am aware of and a comprimise is highly unlikely in this situation. All logins freeze at the same place on the telnet login. Would it be possible that I need to create the user with admin rights? If so, how?
Also, The server is running a service of which I cannot break to shell ( chances are I just don't know how yet). Since I an in the application console, could that be a cause?
    Thank you

  • Captivate and LMS JavaScript Problem

We use Captivate and a Plateau LMS. We had an issue with
bookmarking within our course. The first lesson worked just fine,
but later lessons were not bookmarking. We added javascript alerts
to the code to see when the Captivate content was setting LMS
    variables.
We feared the issue was the bandwidth between the client and
the LMS was so limited that the script attempting to set the LMS
variables was failing, but this is not the case. The script appears
to not run at all sometimes at random intervals. When it does run
it is successful each time. The first lesson, which works reliably,
is much smaller than the other lessons, maybe the size of the SWF
factors into the ability for the script to run properly?
Has anyone else run across this issue? Does anyone have
advice in deeper troubleshooting an issue like this?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Chris

I think that CP3 sends back its data on a time basis, not a
    slide
basis...like every 7 seconds or something?
We've had customers who are tracking interaction data in
    their CP
quizzes which have like 40 questions. If they go through it
    too quickly,
the timed 'save' to the LMS gets behind quickly...so by the
    time the
user is done, only 2/3rds of the suspend data has been
    saved...
And I imagine the bookmark could be left out entirely as
    well.
So see if it's a timing thing? Go through slowly, see if
    posting happens
on a timed basis...maybe that will help determine where the
    issue is...
I do wonder how CP4 sends its data back...

  • 866VAE-K9 Modem/AUX and rev. telnet Problem

    Hi Everyone,
I am currently observing some strange behavior of 866VAE-K9 router which might be a bug or my mistake, so I would very much appreciate your suggestions...
The 866VAE-K9 router has a single physical AUX/CON port.
The documentation states that in order to use AUX with a modem
    one has to:
    line con 0
     modem enable
If I do this, some process starts on the line 1 and prevents
using of chat scripts and reverse telnet:
     start-chat Dialout1 aux 0
% Chat script can not be run on line running other process
    telnet 192.168.10.1 2001
    Trying 192.168.10.1, 2001 ...
% Connection refused by remote host
If I clear line 1, and immediately after that start a chat script,
then it works (telnet hangs on at "asserting DTR"), but if I wait for
several seconds the line 1 becomes busy again...
    Your suggestions/ideas are very appreciated!

I've tried to edit TacacsPrompts.ini also with suggestion to enter "," after last space character
I'm using only TACACS so all prompts are the same. I'm using MOTD also.
TACACS prompt looks like this example : "TEST username: ,TEST password: " so this looks obvious.
The issue started to appear after some patching done to RME and CiscoView, but I'm not sure that this is connected anyhow.
    Thanks for all the help

    Hi!
They gave me the solution like this:
    line vty
    timeout login response 90
Ofcourse it helped but this it still inproper behavior from LMS side. It sends the username char by char for more than a minute! Guess the scenario with thousands of devices.... It will take ages to telnet to them. And network performance has nothing to do with that - i'm running the LMS on a powerful Sun and the network is mostly gigabit connected.
Setting timeout login response is a workaround but does not fix the problem.
Still waiting fot some fix to LMS not for fairly acceptable workarounds.
This is NOT case with TACACS enabled on a router. The box responds within moment when telneted using commandline or other NMS software. This is a problem with LMS telnet login mechanism and prompt parsing (TacacsPrompts.ini doesn't seem to work at all, I could type there anything and it has no effect on the login proces).
Besides this SSH to the same box wit TACACS works flawlessly. But then it parses only password prompt not the username - this is sent by ssh.

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 Time Zone Problem

    Hi,
CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 timezone is VET. I know that LMS time is syncronized with system time. Hovewer, system time is correct but LMS's time is wrong.
-I restarted LMS CW Deamon Manager
    -I re-installed LMS
    My problem still exists.
What should I do to syncronize the time?
    Thank you for your help.

My setup files were corrupted. I tried new setup and LMS succesfully installed.

  • Lms 4.2 , Config Archival issue

    Hi
Please have a look to the below image , what is the reason for this failed Archival and  how to solve this issue
    thanks
    Ibrahim

The 25 success means LMS is working fine.
The 277 failed means LMS has problems communicating with these devices.
    Causes can be:
    Bad credentials
ACL's on the device not permitting LMS ip address to talk to the device.
protocols (TELNET, SSH, RCP, SCP) not running on the devices.
firewalls or ACL's on routers not permitting LMS protocols.
Pick a single device, test the protocols comming from the server to the device, test credentials.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Captivate project takes long time to load on LMS

So I developed a bunch of Captivate 7 modules for a course I'd been working on for some time. When I finally loaded these up on the LMS, I notice that when the modules are launched, a pop-up window opens with a grey background and just stays like that for up to 3-4 mins. I figured grey, because that's what I had set as the HTML page color in the skin editor. However the actual module contents take really long (3-4 mins) to load up. When I tried running all these modules locally from my computer, the grey screen fades into the splash animation within a second.
I figured that this was either due to a bandwidth issue or the LMS causing problems. So I then had these modules tested from our India and US offices (different internet connecttions, multiple LMSs). Same thing happened, takes up to 3-4 mins to transition from the grey screen to the splash animation (but loads up instantly when run locally). We then tried this on multiple LMSs like SABA, Moodle, and even tried this on SCORM Cloud and the same issue. The modules takes a long time to load up, so I kind of ruled out the LMS/bandwidth being an issue.
I'm speculating here, but what I think is happening is that the SCO is trying to download the entire module (about 10MB) to the users machine before it plays the splash animation -- if that's the case then is there a way to avoid that? I mean I don't want a 200 slide Captivate published project to be downloaded right from clicking the launch button -- it could stream through as the user advances through the module. Also, I've seen some pre-loader and Start/End options but not sure how those work.
Important to note here, the 3-4 min wait time from when the module is launched, is only for the first launch. If I were to close the browser popup (in which the SCO opened), and click launch again from the LMS, it's loads up almost instantly -- so I'm pretty sure something's happening in my Captivate project's loading settings which I can't put my finger on.
Can anyone help me figure out why this is happening and also what are some possible fixes to this. I can assure you that it's not an internet bandwidth issue because we've tested it on multiple internet connections and on several LMSs (even the client's LMS that this was tested on says that the initial load up takes too long).

All the symptoms you quote sure sounds like a bandwidth issue to me.
Obviously when you load a project directly from your hard drive then there's no issue with bandwidth.  But if you're pulling down 10 megs from a web server and it takes a while to start then bandwidth is the obvious issue.  I agree that 3-4 minutes sounds excessive for a 10 meg file but that depends entirely on how many users are sharing your bandwidth.  Try getting your people in these different locations to visit one of those websites that allows you to test your actual bandwidth.  It might not be as much as you think.
On another note...What do you have your preloader set to?  The default is 100% but you can usually set it to something like 25% without too much trouble.  That should cut the start time down appreciably but nothing is going to eliminate it completely because there'll always be some initial lag the first time your learners view the content.
