Loading Master Data into a DSO

Hi Experts,
I am unable to analyse whether loading data from Master Data InfoObject into a DSO will cause performance issues or will that work fine.
I was trying to do the same. Awaiting for your inputs on that.

Latha,
Loading master data into a DSO can be done using the following steps:
1) Right click on the DSO and select Create transformation... option.
2) In the dialog box that appears, select Object Type as InfoObject and in the text box right below you give the name of the object.
3) In Subtype of Object selection, select attribute or text as per your needs.
4) select ok and you should see the transformation, map and activate the transformation.
5) create DTP and run it.

I need some help!!
Iam trying to load master data to a DSO, but I dont find the way to do it.
Particularly, I want to fill a field of my DSO with an attribute of an InfoObject (that is also a key field of the DSO).
I create a transformation rule that connect my DSO with my transactional extractor; this rule fills all the fields, with the exception of which it is had to be complete with the attribute of this infoObject. The infoObject has his own transformation rules, which connect this master data characteristic with a M. T. extractor.
This DSO will be used only as a data warehouse that provides data to another system.
How I could load this attribute to my DSO? Anyones knows the steps to do it?

Yes, I have de BI 7. 0 version.
I will comment my situation. My DSO has three key fields (society, number of doc. and schedule line), one of these is my master infoObject (the number of document). This InfoObject has an attribute (the people who enter de document), which I couldnt load it using my transactional extractor because it doesn'tt have the R/3 field in the extractor. Thats why; I decided to load it using master data.
First I charge my DSO with the master InfoObject and his attribute, using a transformation rule that connect my infoprovider with de master IO data table.
Then I charge the rest of the DSO fields, including again the master infoObjeto data field. In this case, I used a transformation rule that connect my infoProviders with a transactional extractor.
After this, when I want to execute the activation of both request, I couldnt do it because the system dont let me.
The way I do all what I says, is correct? When I am modeling the data transfer process, I have to consider something in particular?
When I want to load the master data to the DSO, I consider only one of the key fields of the DSO (number of doc); there is any problem if I dont consider the others two key fields.

Caller-70 Error while loading master data into infoobject

hi ,
I am getting following error while loading master data into infoobject (0tb-account). I am loading this master data in production environment for the first time. there are about 300000 records. All have got loaded upto PSA. Infopackage settings were PSA and then into data target.
Short dump in the Warehouse
Diagnosis
The data update was not finished. A short dump has probably been logged in BI. This provides information about the error.
System Response
"Caller 70" is missing.
ST22 dump analysis is as below:
Termination occurred in the ABAP program "GP476CZYBEF2WX53UZ8TXFG6XOS" - in
"VALUE_TO_SID_CONVERT_DB".
The main program was "RSMO1_RSM2 ".
Please help as soon as you can..Production problem....

May be IDOCs not processed completely,
Idoc Problem, Either wait till time out & process Idoc from detail monitor screen, or go to BD87 & process Idoc with status = YELLOW ( be careful while processing IDOCS from BD87, choose only relevant Idocs

We need more than 10,000 master data into 0mat_unit. How can I collect data from R/3 for different attributes of infoobject 0mat_unit?

Can I reuse objects without Master data and load master data into it?

Hai,
I have a standard object that doesnot have Master data. Its already used somewhere else. It matches the name I want but I need to load some master data into it. Does resuing it in my catalogue and loading Master data into it hurt anything? Or should I create a new one?

Hi Visu,
The same InfoObject can be included in more than one InfoObject catalog without any issue. Also loading master data would not hurt an existing InfoProviders where it is being used.

Hi Pradeep,
if its combination of charactertics & keyfigures, then you need to load master data in Info objects(Characterstics) and for key figures you can load directly in the layout, once you save it , these values get saved back in Cube.

U can load the master data to ur ODS..
The Process is same as loading Transaction Data into ODS but..
1. U need to do flexible Update instead of Direct Update...
2. Maintain all the Attributes in ur DATA part...
3. The record on which Updation depends should reside in the KEY FIELD section.
But there is difference in loading master data to info object and ODS..
If loaded in Info Objects..REusability is there.
But in ODS no reusability...

Master data upload to DSO

Dear all,
We have a legacy system to maintain and face a problem.
The system have two DSO,one(DSO_04) is store the transaction data(Navigation atrribute link to master
data),Due to to accelerate the report on DSO,we build other DSO that is store the transaction data
from DSO_04->DSO_06 and change the DSO_04 navigation atrribute to DSO_06 data fields.
Problem: When user modify the master data and upload to BW,the DSO_06 isn't show the modify
report,beacause the "change the navigation atrribute to data fields in DSO_06 ".One way to solve this
problem is reload data from DSO_04->DSO_06 , but user would updata the master data frequently ,so
it isn't a good method.
Could you give me some advices to solve this problem?

Hi,
While loading the data into first DSO maintain one more field called Update Date( as current date). Do full load from DSO1 to DSO2 using DTP filter on Modified date.
In DTP filter write a small code to filter data for current date as follows :
l_t_range-sign = 'I'.
l_t_range-option = 'EQ'.
l_t_range-low = sy-datum.
l_t_range-fieldname = '/BIC/YNV_CH014'. " Updation date
APPEND l_t_range.
p_subrc = 0.

Can we know what kind of data source is this. attribute or text data source.
what is data volume? its less or more?
Actually we load direct access data thru dtp(No psa) into info objects for text data sources where have less data only.
While running your dtp is any attribute change run for the same info object ot any transactional loads are happening?
Is this happens on particular day or weekend or anydays?

Loading master data compounded infoobject

Hello experts
I want to load master data into an InfoObject from a flat file, thus i want to define this infoobject as an infoprovider
In order to do that i use the "Insert characteristic as InfoProvider" option from the InfoArea but i get a message :
InfoObject PA_PAPRCT is not a basis characteristic; not used as data target
This InfoObject has a superior InfoObject defined as superior InfoObject in the compounding tab, is that the problem ?

Yes, PA_PAPRCT is not the basic characteristic.
Instead of this, use the superior object for this object.
Than you can load the master data for all these objects.

Error while loading the master data into hierarchy

Hi,
When i am trying to load the master data into a hierarchy, it is showing me the following error.
"Invalid Entry, hierarchy xxxxxx does not exist".
Can you please tell me what might be the possible cause for this error.

Have you created a hierarchy, I mean go to Transfer structure->Hierarchy structure
->create hierarchy, put a check of whether it is sorted or time dependent etc. after that while loading data through infopackage just check that you have selected an appropriate hierarchy name in hierarchy selection tab.

First Loading of Master data into ODS

Hello BW gurus,
I have read the below mentioned sentence in a material stating that
'By using flexible updating, it is possible to write master data from different sources into a consolidated object (master data ODS object) before this is stored in individual master data tables.'
1) why master data from different sources is being written into ODS first , before it is stored in individual Master Data tables ?
2) Is every master data from source systems first loaded into ODS before it is stored in individual Master Data tables?

Ans - In real time scenarios y may have to load data from various source system (liks sap,non sap,flat file).also more than on r3 source system is also possible. hence to have consolidation of the master data based on source system we load master data to ods first. but is not always. one few master datas like - Batch number,delivery number,invoice number. u can also load directly to master data tables using direct update.
2) Is every master data from source systems first loaded into ODS before it is stored in individual Master Data tables?
not mandatory, it depends on requirement.

Loading InfoObject master data into Cube

Hi Guys,
I have a question. I created an InfoObject as a data target and loaded data into that data target. I created a cube and I want to include this infoobject in the cube. Now How do I load data into this cube from the InfoObject.Because the InfoObject doesnt have any option to select data targets, since it is master data.
Data is being loaded into the InfoObejct. But when I check the cube there is no data.
How do I load this master data into the cube without update rules?

i think u need load some value to transaction data so that you can report on it, but how you are going to decide which row will be having which value from master data? in general value for this should come from transactional data, or you could assign some constant value to it.
Do you want to use any attribute of Inoobject in report? And if you have any key value for that coming from Transaction data, you can use rule type as read from master data
It depends upon your requirememt.
Since you want to restrict the values of the cube which are going into the report then you should include this object into the cube.
In any case if you want to restrict the value of the transactional data in the cube with either the value of the objects ot the attributes of object you will have to add this object into the cube.
As you said you can load master data and use in report but how you are going to use it..............you will have to include it in the cube to use it.
Also you can check whether this object is attribute of some other object already in the cube in that case you can make it navigation attribute and then use it for the restrictions in the cube.
In this case only you do need to add it to the cube,But if it not an attribute of any object then you must add it to the cube.
You have to get the value of your infoobject into Cube from datasource, even though you want to use attributes only.
You will have to add it and it wont have any effect the transaction data getting loaded into the cube will be different from the master data only SID's are matched during loading of the data.
You should load separate master data into the 0recontract infoobject with the master data source and make the respective object contract type and contract category as navigation there.
Also you should add 0recontract to the cube and update it from the transaction data source as you have said that it can be updated.
Then just do the normal restrication at the report level
You can make this display attribute as naviagatioonal first in the master data object and then in the cube make this attribute as navigational.
then you can use it to restrict in the cube
You can use Category as InfoObject in your cube, and while loading data for your infoobject in the rule type you can use option as reading from master data. It will take key of infoobject, and will update attribute value in your cube.

You can also restrict with attributes value, Just in the restrcition of your infoobject in query designer, slelect left-botton button of 'Dipaly Other Values', here you can select you attribute and its value for restriction as well
