LOCAL_ENTRY_NOT_FOUND error in BW3.1c

Question

I recently transported a custom ODS object to production enivronment. I now get an abap dump when I use tcode RSA11.
Dump has msg of LOCAL_ENTRY_NOT_FOUND error.....

I see that the transport got a warning msg, but both dev and test client are ok. after transport, I checked that ods was active, but since initial load into ods from flat file (which has ended in failure due to same abap dump) I was able to notice that ods was inactive. Since seeing that, I tried to go into the ods in production and got the abap dump. Now whenever I use tcode RSA11 or try to get to any infoprovider from the admin workbench, I get the same abap dump.....
Has anyone seen this before? What can be done to correct this?
The transport warning is:
Application component DM of DataSource 8ZREBUD does not exist
Message no. R8418
Diagnosis
You tried to assign a DataSource to the application component DM. This application component is, however, not entered in the RODSAPPL table as an application component.
but the DM application component does already exist in production and it is in the RODSAPPL table.....
And I did try re-transporting the ods just to see if that would fix it, but it had the same transport warning and I still get teh abap dumps in production client....
Please help if you can.

This has happend a number of times. the first time, we had multiple instances of the client, so I logged via a different instance and ran the tcode, it then cleared whatever error and I was ok.
The other times I ran the t-code in debug mode and trapped where the dump occurred. I then changed the sy-subrc = 0 and it bypassed the error
