Logging into this forum fails

Hi there!
First of all I have to apologize that i am posting here a problem and not feedback - but plz take a minute and see why:
As I am having the problem with Safari that the auto login into forums doesn't work anymore I wanted to login here into the Apple-discussions board to get help. But the bad suprise was, that I am not able to log in here in anymore from my Mac and Safari.
I am absolutely sure to use the right login data, as i can log in via my father's PC and Internet Explorer - from where I am typing this post here now as well.
As pictures say more than a thousand words, I made two screenshots from the login-process, so you see how it looks:
idisk.mac.com/gernot.heissel//Public/Discussions1.tiff
idisk.mac.com/gernot.heissel//Public/Discussions2.tiff
The 1st picture shows the dialogue to enter the login data - filled out.
The 2nd picture shows the site I am led to when then pressing the "Sign In" button.
As you can see it is the form that is used to create an account. On the right you can see that i am still logged out. And the funny thing is, that there is not even a field to type in an AppleID.
I would really love to get some official help here, as this issue occurs especially here on this forum. And it is not good, not beeing able to login into the discussions forum from my Mac.
Here is what i tried so far without success:
- filling out the form I am led to when i want to login
- delete all cookies of Safari
- clearing cache of Safari
- delete the Safari Library files (.pls or on what they are ending)
- setting back safari
Another thing: When I login here via my father's PC, at first i am led to a page where it tells me, that the page I should have been taken doesn't exist, and that contains a link to the discussions-board. But i am loggedin, and when I click that link i can fiew the board an post as usual.
So.. hope you can help me. It's hard to get help, when access to the help-board is denied...
greetings
Gernot

Hi Gernot!
No guarantees, but try the procedure that I have posted below.
Delete Safari's Apple Cookies, and clear the Cache.
Quit Safari, and then reopen it.
On the Discussions Sign In Page, do not enter any info in the text fields.
Instead, under "Did you forget your password?", click on "Click here for assistance".
On the page that opens, click on "Forget your Apple ID?".
Enter the required info, and click Continue.

  • Error message: "Logging into the account failed because an error occurred."

    Hello,
    We had an XServe G5 2.0 DP 5GB/80/2x250 running Mac OS X 10.3.9 Server with all updates as a main server for a school. The server provides Open Directory Master as well as File-Sharing (AFP and SMB) and e-mail services to about 30 teachers and 300 students. The user home directories reside on the server. A web server also runs on the machine. The students use a pool of laptops, which are configured with a local guest and admin account as well as access to the server-based home directories with Directory Access. The server had the OS running on the 80 GB hard drive and all data (Home directories, mail database, website, etc. were on the two mirrored 250 GB drives.) All was working well until...
    A few weeks ago, one of the two 250 GB died. We decided to use the opportunity to upgrade the server and set it up with 3 x 750 GB, two drives running as a mirrored pair to hold OS AND Data, the other as a stand-by unit to help replace a failing drive.
    We migrated the OS and all data from the previous drives without a problem. Since now, all data is residing on one pair of drives, we put the data from the old "Data" drive in a folder on the root level of the new HD pair. We wrote a script that launches at startup which creates the symlink in /Volumes/Data to link to /Data. We thought that with this, all would be well.
    However: When any user tries to log into his account from any iBook (10.3.9 or 10.4.11) (wirelessly), he gets the message:
    "Logging into the account failed because an error occurred. The home folder for the user account is located on an afp or smb server. contact your system administrator for help"
    If the user logs in to the guest account on the iBook, then accesses his home directory via file-sharing, he can see (read/write) all his data. So, the data and privileges seem to be OK, as well as Open Directory working correctly. Mail and the web work well also, as does logging in to a user account from one of the PC's (wired).
    Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to fix the situation? Currently, the users are using the guest accounts and accessing their data via filesharing, as well as using webmail for their e-mail, but this is a major nuisance.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Alain Chammas
    A user trying to access his account from a PC (wired) has no problems.

    A good number of folks are having problems with this same error message at login, and nobody seems to have found a fix.
    I believe I have stumbled upon, if not a solution, at least part of the answer. If you're logged into a 10.4 workstation, open a Finder window and click the "Network" icon. The first time you do this, you'll only see "Library" and "Servers" icons, but if you let it sit for a moment, other folders will magically appear. One of these is "My Network" which is the critical part.
    In Workgroup Manager, edit one of your users' home directory configuration. There's a URL piece, usually "afp://server.domain.com/Users" (which is what shows up in the window when you click on the "Home" tab for that user), and then there's a "Home" path that is usually something like "/Network/Servers/servername/Users/username". Trouble is, you've noticed that 10.4 doesn't put servers into the "Servers" path, but rather into the "My Network" path.
    So, if you change that "Home" path to read "/Network/My Network/servername/Users/username", it should work--with one caveat. Apparently 10.4 doesn't create the "My Network" path on a given client until you actually browse the network on that client. If you haven't logged into a 10.4 workstation and browsed the network, the "My Network" path won't be there, and you'll still get the error. Login as a local user, browse the network (so that the "My Network" folder shows up), logout, and then login as an Open Directory user, and it should work.
    I'm betting that 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5 all handle this issue differently, so if you're in a mixed-version situation, you may have to experiment to find a workable fix.
    Derndest thing I ever saw.

  • Logging into most sites fails!

    apparently, I can't login to most sites (adium, facebook, apple, etc) with safari! how can I fix this?

    HI,
    From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure: User names and passwords is selected. If that box is already selected ...
    From the Safari Preferences pane Menu click the Edit tab next to Other forms. Delete .adium / .facebook / apple / any any other site name you have problems accessing then click Done. Now go back to the Menu again and select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies. Delete the any cookies related to those sites, click: Done. *Relaunch Safari.* Try logging into one of the sites. If you still have problems...
    Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left. Delete the keychains for the sites you mentioned and any others you have problems logging into. Quit Keychain Access. *Relaunch Safari*. Navigate to Adium, login with your user name and password then click Yes when prompted. Same with the other sites.

  • Strange Problem Logging Into Discussions Forums

    Lately, I have had trouble logging in to Apple's Discussion Forums. Here's a typical experience:
    - I go to the Discussioins forum (I am current logged out)
    - I click on Login
    - My user name is already filled out.
    - I manually enter my password.
    - The forum takes me to a "create new account" screen.
    - I ignore the "new account" screen and click on the Discussions tab at the top of Apple's website.
    - I'm back in the Discussions Forum, but it still shows Login.
    - I click on Login and I'm automatically logged in.
    Any idea why I'm having this issue?

  • Upgraded to iPhone 6, cannot get into iCloud. "The password you entered is incorrect" even though I used the same Apple ID and password that I used to log into this session.  My wife has the same issue with her iPhone 6 as well.

    iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2) My wife and I were able to log into iCloud when we bought and activated the phones.  In the last 2 days, we have not been able to do so.  Have reset the password 3 times.  Can get into iTunes and iCloud via MacBook Pro.  Every attempt to log in via iPhone we get a message saying the password is incorrect.  I noticed someone else had a similar problem about 1 hour ago.  Apple support's answer did not fix the problem for them.

    have you managed to fix that? i'm facing the same issue on iPhone 6 (8.1.3)

  • Trouble signing into this forum

    If I go to this page on this forum (http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-RAZR-by-Motorola/bd-p/RAZR) and click on the Sign In right above the list of messages,  the sign in page it takes me to rejects my Username and password, saying the combination are not correct and won't let me sign in.   But if, from this same page on this forum,  I click on the Sign In in upper right corner (in the red header) it works fine except it takes me to page listing other forums but I can navigate back here and post.   This is a pain on my pc but on my RAZR the screen for this forum is different and the sign in acts like the non-red header one and rejects my login.
    Can anyone explain this to me?

    Was able to sign in. Thanks anyways...

  • When updating my Apps on my IPhone, it tells me my password is incorrect and wont let me log in.  I came to this site and redid my password, so I know its right (as I had to put it in here to get into this forum) and it still tells me its wrong.

    When I go to updaye my apps on my IPhone it tells me my passowrd is incorrect and wont let me log in.  I changed my passowrd on this site just to be sure I had it correct and it still wont let me log in and still tells me it is incorrect.  What can I do?

    Updating your Apps is different from the Support Communities and use different passwords. Your best bet is to start with the support links here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/account/ If one of those suggestions doesn't work, then hit the "Contact Support" link from the list to the left for additional options.

  • Retrieving cookies when logging into java forums through a java application

    Hello --
    I am currently working on a spider application that will have the ability to login to sites of interest and then begin crawling.
    I thought an easy place to start would be to login to java forums. However, I have run into a bit of a snag with all of the cookies....
    The following is the information that I am posting:
    action = "login"
    url = "http://forum.java.sun.com/index.jsp"
    UserId     // my username
    Password // my password
    Submit = "Log in"
    AutoLogin = "1"
    I am doing this using HttpURLConnection that was created using http://developer.java.sun.com/servlet/SessionServlet as the URL. Then I create an output stream etc:
    OutputStream os = huc.getOutputStream();
    os.write(sb.toString().getBytes("US-ASCII")); // where sb is a StringBuffer which contains the above information separated with &'s
    os.close();
    This is when I run into my problem...Next, I try to obtain the session cookies (using the same HttpURLConnection that I posted with) but I am not getting all of the cookies.
    As a test, I set my browser to prompt for cookies and I found that when you submit your login information three cookies are set: JDC, JSessionId, and SessionCredentials. Then two more cookies are set JSessionId again and jiveUserLastVisited -- I think these cookies are actually set while getting the http://forum.java.sun.com/index.jsp page. Anyway the only cookies that I get through my program are JSessionId and jiveUserLastVisited.
    So to remedy this I tried setting followRedirects to false on my HttpURLConnection (before I perform my post) and then I tried to get the Set-Cookie header immediately following my post. What I found was after calling getFieldHeader() my connection has changed -- when I do a getConnection on my HttpURLConnection the connection has changed to the second page (http://forum.java.sun.com/index.jsp) even with redirects set to false.
    I guess my inexperience with web applications has caught up with me. Does anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Lisa

  • I am trying to log into a website "Northern Carping" which until I installed Firefox I could log into with no problems and I can still log into this site on my laptop (which doesn't have Firefox)???

    I am a member of a forum www.northerncarping.co.uk/ in which I am experiencing problems trying to log in since I installed FireFox. I also have a laptop which I don't use FireFox on and have no problems. Could it be something to do with firefox?

  • Message to SAP -not possible to enter FMS syntax correctly into this forum

    Please do something about this.
    If I try to enter something like this:
    SELECT CASE WHEN $[$13.10.Number]>0 THEN 'OK' ELSE NULL END
    it is corrupted when I post. You can see what it is supposed to read, but presumably the square brackets are translated as a Link by your editor. This is not very useful, and very annoying when trying to help other users. Square brackets are an integral part of B1 queries so please, either give us a workaround or remove this function. Or ditch the editor. The forum is littered with examples of this.
    Does this annoy anybody else? Make your feelings known.

    Bruce,
    Quick tip to avoid the Forum interface corrupting your script is to use the Code Tag shown next to the Bold, Italics and Underline tag on top of this area with a less than..greater than symbol.
    or use backslash as shown below
    '[%0\]'    $\[OCRD.CardCode]
    Backslash after the first dollar sign and backslash before the last ] (square bracket)

  • How do I simply log into the forum without having to ask another question?

    I have a thread in the forum I'd like to respond to -- get me there please

    Via View Profile you get a link that does a forum search.<br />
    That is a result page (with 10 results per page) that is different than the My Contributions link (20 results per page and more info) will give you.
    If you are logged on then on the top of the [[/questions]] page you have a Sort and Filter item that opens a drop down list.<br />
    You find "My Contributions" amongst the choices in the second column (Show).

  • I can successfully log into this website but when i try to open messages or test results from the menu I am immediately kicked out saying session timed out.

    I called the customer support line for website. They had me try to open using Internet Explorer, and it works perfectly fine.
    I recently changed from Windows 7 to Windows 8, and am back to Windows 7 again via system recovery discs. I did not have this problem with the website using Firefox prior to switching and switching back. Is there some sort of security setting that I am missing? I am not having any problems using other login and password protected sites that I use.
