Login and goto fails

Hi,
I need to call a servlet directly without getting authenticated. The reason I need the session is because I'm using profile APIs. The method I'm trying out is using login and goto. In the user servlets, I get a session exception ( Invalid Service Host Name ) which I catch and in the catch block I use login and goto to get the session cookie and redirect to the user servlet.
try{
//Get session and profile here
catch{
redirectURL = "login?&goto=" + req.getRequestURI();
resp.sendRedirect(redirectURL);
This works if the servlet is called from a direct HREF link. If this servlet is posted from a form, it works at times but is very inconsistent. We get a BAD REQUEST on the browser when it fails.
Any ideas why this happens ?
Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions ! The original problem of not being able to pass parameters like -
"login?&goto=" + req.getRequestURI + "?param=" + value"
has been solved by encoding the URL string sent to resp.sendRedirect.
However the suggestion you have given regarding setting of cookies in the browser might have a bearing on my actual problem. I'm trying to do away with the redirection to the login servlet in the DesktopServlet.
Here is what I'm trying to do to make our website searchengine friendly - using WGET scrape the DesktopServlet and set it as the index.html. When somebody tries to access the links which are ordinary servlets, it gives a session exception. I catch the session exception and in the catch block use "login?&goto" to do a response.sendRedirect. This does a login and gets me the session.
All the servlets work fine except for one which is identical to the ones working except for the fact it is a post from a form on the DesktopServlet. Here I get a HTTP 400 Bad Request error. I've noticed that when I clear the cache and try I get a better response.
Any suggestion on how to overcome this ( possibly by setting cookies ) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

  • Accessing servlets using login and goto

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem in accessing servlets without visiting the DesktopServlet. There is no problem if the servlet does not require a parameter, but if I try to pass a parameter to the servlet, it does not pass the parameter -
    Without visiting the DesktopServlet when I try to visit an servlet X , it gives me a session exception.
    Thrown SessionException : Invalid service host name.
    I use the following code to login and go to the servlet :
    String redirectTarget = "login?&goto=" + req.getRequestURI() + "&hotelComponent=" + hotelComponent;
    resp.sendRedirect(redirectTarget);
    Inside the doGet of the servlet, I now try to read the hotelComponent parameter -
    String hotelComponent = req.getParameter("hotelComponent");
    But now I get a null. I can not get the hotelComponent parameter. Any suggestions will be very helpful
    Thanks in advance

  • Webpages and videos fail to load

    I have Mac OS X 10.7.5, and I am using Safari 6.1.1.
    Some webpages do load, but others fail to load. The blue loading often stops after reaching a certain point. Additionally, when I try to play video content within pages I am sometimes told that the plug-in cannot be found. However, Safari does not actually crash.
    I have: emptied the Safari Caches, removed all website data, and switched all Safari extensions off. I have also installed plug-ins: Adobe Flash Player (latest version), Shockwave, Silverlight, Java, Flip4mac, and Adobe Acrobat. I also deleted all files from Macintosh HD/Library/Caches (which may have been unwise....).
    The problem does not appear to be with Safari, as I have tried using Opera and Firefox, and they both experience the same issues (videos and webpages failing to load).
    Assistance or advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Remote login in SM51 Fails / ECC 6.0 / HP-UX / Oracle 10

    Hi All,
    We had a cluster, 4 physical servers / 14 SAP Instances / HP-UX - Oracle 10G /  ECC 6 EHP 3.
    Basically we have a general RFC problem in the system. You can reproduce it simply in transaction sm51: In most of the instances whenever you try to change to an instance that has the same instance number than the one you are logged on at this moment, you will come back to this instance, e.g.:
    you are logged on at host1_SID_01, start sm51 and try to change to the instances:
    host2_SID_01,
    host3_SID_01 or
    host4_SID_01
    (or you try to display the system log or other). You will see (System - Status) that you don't change to these instances but will stay on host1_SID_01.
    We found the SAP Note 662895 - Remote login using SM51 Fails. In this note they refer to the error: "Transaction termination 14 025".
    Now we have this error (we upgraded from SAP 46C with another error in sm21).
    The problem is that we really donu2019t understand exactly what they want to do in the SAP Note 662895:
    Summary
    Symptom
    Remote login in SM51 by double-clicking R/3 instances fails
    Solution
    You can use transaction SM51 to log in to another application server using RFC, without entering a password. Server "A"
    Server "A"                                          Server "B"
            <--Remote logon via RFC   <--
    GUI
          sm51
    Double-click on the server B entry --->
    If host name "B" was entered on server "A" as the gw/alternative_hostnames profile parameter, the local SAP gateway from server "A" is used when you log on to server "B". This results in the syslog message "Transaction termination 14 025".
    The same error occurs if you try to open a new external mode on server "A".
    Who is the origin server? Host A? Host B? In fact sometimes you can go from A to B and vice versa. So changing the gw/alternative_hostnames parameter doesn't appear to be a solution.
    I would appreciate some tips about this Note / Problem.
    Best Regards,
    Erick Ilarraza

    Hello, thanks a lot for your replyes.
    Abhijeet Siras, the command /etc/ping <host> works prefectly.
    Sergo,
    Exactly we have 3 host each one with 4 dialog instances. 1 host with 2 dialog instances and one host with the central instance.
    Not all  instances have this problem, only the following combination:
         Origin                     Destination
    host4_SID_01    - >     host1_SID_01
    host2_SID_03    - >      host3_SID_03
    host1_SID_01    -->  host3_SID_01
    host1_SID_02   -->     host3_SID_02
    host1_SID_03   -->     host3_SID_03
    host1_SID_04   -->     host3_SID_04
    host2_SID_01   -->     host3_SID_01
    host2_SID_02  -->     host3_SID_02
    host2_SID_03  -->     host3_SID_03
    host2_SID_04  -->     host1_SID_04
    host2_SID_04  -->     host3_SID_04
    host3_SID_04  -->     host1_SID_04
    host4_SID_01  -->     host1_SID_01
    host4_SID_02  -->     host1_SID_02
    host4_SID_02  -->     host2_SID_02
    host4_SID_02  -->     host3_SID_02
    The problem is between *_NUMBER to *_NUMBER!
    For example from Dialog Instance 3 running on host 2 to Dialog Instance 3 running on host 3
    For example host4_SID_01 means the Dialog Instance 1 running on host 4.
    Best Regards,
    Erick Ilarraza

    1) I'm wondering how this all applies to Java. What Java code have you tried and has failed here? Are you talking about Java or Javascript? JSP?
    2) Please don't cross-post this in multiple forums. That only pisses us off and will guarantee you less help than if you didn't do this. Imagine a volunteer giving of his free time to help someone, spending say an hour or more trying to come up with a solution, then finding after posting that the solution was already given in a cross-post, and you'll know why this is very much frowned upon in these forums. Choose one thread to be the active thread, and then put a note in the other thread directing posters to the active thread (if you really want help that is).

  • Administration Tool login via 10817 failed

    Hi,
    Have a problem for a long time on login issue to the administration tool via ksvradmin in iAS 6.5. Lived with it until recently as need to change some parameter thru the admin tool.
    Does anyone has had this problem and got it solved? When attempting to register a server using the default info as below, it keep prompted me login failure:
    Name: iAS1
    Hostname: localhost
    Port: 10817
    Username: admin
    Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx
    I do not have any problem connecting to the iDS or startup any of the services just that I cannot login and register an server. Please share your experience/solution to the above issue if you have resolved such issue before. Thank you.

    Hi,
    This is interesting!! After running through the thread, I suspect there is some issue with your configuration not the .rpd. Taking your words that replacing your old .rpd does not work too and of course the your old .rpd would have worked, here are my prime suspects
    1. Some clustering setup running behind scenes. I not get any other instance, when a .rpd could be shared except when a master .rpd is shared with cluster servers. So is the "Sharing violation" error.
    2. Some Init blocks in your .rpd with "Required for Authentication" set. For example, an init block with "required for authentication" is bound to fail and not let you in online mode, when the underlying source/ DSN etc has issues.
    So, check on these guys and see if you nail them down first.
    Hope this helps.

  • Remote Login Using SM51 Fails

    Hi All,
    We had a cluster, 4 physical servers / 14 SAP Instances / HP-UX - Oracle 10G / 46C -> Upgrading to ECC 6 EHP 3.
    We look at the SM21 it reports the following error: *Transaction termination 00 152 ( ) *
    I would appreciate some tips about this problem.

    Erick ILarraza

    Hi Martin,
    Thanks a lot for your reply.
    Yes, the parameter is set.
    ParameterName  SAPLOCALHOSTFULL

    Changes allowed             Change permitted
    Valid for oper. system      All operating systems

    ProfileVal                       host1
    Current value                  host1
    Where host1 is the host where you did login. It don't care about the SAP instance:
    host1_SID_01,  host1_SID_02, host1_SID_03, host1_SID_04. All this give the value host1.

  • I NEED TO GET LOGIN AND LOGOUT TIMING DETAILS FROM CLIENT SYSTEMS

    HI,
    CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME ON HOW TO GET LOGIN AND LOGOUT , CLIENT EVENT DETAILS FROM CLIENT SYSTEMS ON SERVER 2008 R2.
    THANKS,
    KUMAR.

    You may need to enable active directory Logon/Logoff Audit event.
    The Audit logon events policy records all attempts to log on to the local computer, whether by using a domain account or a local account.
    On Domain Controller, this policy records attempts to access the DC only.
    By using these events we can track user's logon duration by mapping logon and logoff events with user's Logon ID which is unique between user's logon and logoff.
    Please refer to this blog to understand the complete process to audit the successful or failed logon and logoff attempts in the network using the audit policies :

  • Two part q: sysman login and clearing alerts

    Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 SE-One on OL 5.6 64bit
    Just got this configured a few days ago. Opened dbcontrol this morning and found a boat-load of messages about failed log on attempts (ie: 170 failed attempts in last 30 minutes) Checked DBA_AUDIT_LOG and see that the failed attempts are coming from SYSMAN. Followed note 259379.1 concerning changing the password for sysman - to a known value. Failed logon attempts continue (as shown in dba_audit_log).
    It seems that in 10.2 (I don't have one handy at the moment) dbcontrol had a facility to clear/acknowledge alerts, but I don't find that on the 11.2 console. ??
    What else might I need to do to to prevent the failed connections from SYSMAN?

    - From the console home page, click one of the alert messages; e.g. click "There have been 170 failed attempts in last 30 minutes".
    - The Failed Login Count: Time <date/time> page should appear with breadcrumbs similar to this:
    Database Instance: <Instance_name> > All Metrics > Failed Login Count >
    - Click "Failed Login Count" in the breadcrumbs. From the next page, you should be able to select (open) alerts to clear.

    If there are UDMs (user-defined metrics) and/or jobs using sysman's credentials, make sure that they are not failing due to an invalid password.
    Regards,
    - LocWell, the plot thickens. Before starting up the dbconsole, I double-checked the config directories in $ORACLE_HOME, and find I have TWO configs for this one instance:
    drwxr-----  3 oracle oinstall  4096 Jul 20 15:18 mymachine.mydomain_orcl
    drwxr-----  3 oracle oinstall  4096 Aug  1 12:18 mymachine.mydomain_ORCLThe dbcontrol home page for this instance seems to indicate we are using the config in upper case - the "Database Instance:" in the upper right corner shows ORCL - in upper case.
    I'm not sure how I got here. In the past I've always created my dbcontrols at the command line, using emca, but for this one decided to try it dbca. I'll use emca to drop it, make sure everything is clean, and recreate.
    BTW, the error messages are not selectable -- that is, they are not live links and clicking on them does nothing.
    I"ll update after I've recreated the dbcontrol.

  • After MAR upgrade from 4.0 - 7.0 login to ars_db fails

    Hi,
    After MAR upgrade from 4.0 -> 7.0 login to ars_db fails with the message "inconsistent database structure". For me it is a bit weired to do the ars_db upgrade to 7.0 SP4 and then start the transport agent which is still in the 4.0 level but this is the way it is described in the upgrade guide in order to delete Blobs after MAR upgrade.
    Is the guide here inconsistent? Don't we have to upgrade the tools and services first before deleting Blobs?
    Did anyone experience similar issues?
    Regards
    Whity

    Hello Whity
    After upgrading the MAR,To upgrade the MRS Tools and Services follow the steps below:
    1. Stop and uninstall the 4.0 Transport Agent Service. Use the Transport Installer to
    uninstall the above services.
    2. If you are not able to uninstall the TA, uninstall the service manually using the following command sc delete [service name]
    .Also check that there are no entry for that service at the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.
    3. On your local copy of the Upgrade DVD open the folder Mobile_Client_Upgrade\UpgradePurposeOnly . If you upgrade from CRM 4.0 you have to run SETUP.exe. If you upgrade from a higher release you have to run UPGRADE.exe
    4. Install the Transport Service again after MRS tools and services are upgraded to 7.0 SP 04.
    In your case, TA was not uninstalled pripr to the MRS tools and servcies upgrade.Hence you still see 4.0 TA. Please follow the above steps to solve the issue.
    Please refer to the section 5.2.7 section of the upgrade guide document for more information.

  • Systemd: some services starting too early and then failing

    Hello everyone,
    I freshly installed Arch on this new laptop (Asus Zenbook Prime UX32VD) and from the start, I wanted to have a pure systemd setup. I'm using services only and I've uninstalled initscripts and so far it's working relatively well.
    However, some services seem to start too early by default and the workarounds are unsatisfactory.
    Problem 1: asus-screen-brightness and asus-kbd-backlight
    On this lap top, the stock screen brightness buttons do not work (yet). A script and a service file (which are both available via the asus-screen-brightness AUR package) have to be used to allow users to change the brightness via the script. The problem is, with that service enabled, it only succeeds sometimes. About have of the time booting the laptop it fails, most likely because the necessary nodes in /sys/ do not exist yet. Restarting the service manually after booting does the trick:
    [root@tachychineta shapeshifter]# sc status asus-screen-brightness

    Oct 12 11:25:28 tachychineta systemd[1]: Started Allow user access to screen brightness.
    Exactly the same problem occurs with asus-kbd-backlight.service which is needed to allow users to control the keyboard backlight. It also fails because of missing /sys/ entries if started too early.
    Problem 2: automatic login & X11
    I use the method described on the wiki to autologin into TTY1 with my user and my .bash_profile contains
    [[ $(fgconsole) = 1 ]] && startx
    and my .xserverrc is configured as explained in this fantastically useful article by falconindy.
    This way, X starts automatically and my session is properly authenticated for things like udiskie. I'm not using [testing] but instead rebuilt polkit with --enable-systemd and it's working just fine. The problem is, just like in problem 1, Xorg fails to start every now and then, failing with
    (EE) No devices detected.
    I don't have a full log because it hasn't happened in a while, but I'm very certain it's because the chipset isn't ready, yet.
    Solutions?
    I added "i915" to /etc/modules-load.d/static.conf hoping that would cover both the Xorg and backlight problems but it doesn't help. I then tried adding i915 to my MODULES in mkinitcpio.conf and rebuilding the initramfs and at least it looked like that way the problems went away but it added about 4 seconds to the time spent by the "kernel" during boot which is quite unacceptable. (Plots with and without i915 in MODULES).
    I read the systemd.unit and systemd.service man pages but I can't find a way to speficy required kernel modules for a service file. I'm not sure if specifying the modules in /etc/modules-load.d shouldn't be enough (because apparently it's supposed to load for sysinit.target, which is early) but apparently it isn't.
    Any ideas how I can get these services to work properly without sacrificing too much boot time?
    Thank you

  • TNSPing and Designer Failed to resolve name

    Hi:
    I don't know whether this problem is belong to this group, anyway, I put it here and hope someone can help me.
    After I installed Designer R6 on my Windows NT, I configured SQL*Net for the Database Connection. I did it with SQL Net Easy Configuration. Then I tested the configuration with TNSPing utilities of version 2.3.4.0.0, 8.0.5.0.0 and 8.1.6.0.0. And all of them returned me the correct message:
    TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 2.3.4.0.0 - Production on 03-JUL-00 09:23:34

    Attempting to contact (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=wangsvr)(PORT=1521))
    OK (40 msec)
    I did the tests from the directory where the TNSNames.ora file exists. My problem is, if I do the test from any other directory where the TNSNames.ora file does not exist, then TNSPing 8.0.5.0.0 cannot return the correct result. It said
    TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 8.0.5.0.0 - Production on 03-JUL-00 09:31:13
    (c) Copyright 1997 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    TNS-03505: Failed to resolve name
    But if I copy the TNSNames.ora file to the directory where I invoke TNSPing, again the TNSPing return the correct result.
    The TNSPing 2.3.4.0.0 and 8.1.6.0.0 can work correctly from anywhere.
    The same problem is that the Designer can only be invoked from the directory where the TNSNames.ora file exists, otherwise it will not let me login and showed the message:
    "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name"
    How to resolve this problem?
    Thanks in advance

    Which version(s) of SQL Net is (are) installed? Which version of SQL Net Easy Config did you use?
    With Net8, the config file is in a different location to that for 2.3. You have to configure both if you've installed both.
    My guess is that you've configured 2.3 and not 8. Run Net 8 config and try again.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
    Hi:
    Thank you very much. Your few words helped me a lot. I solved the problem just by copying tnsnames.ora from d:\des6.0\network\admin to d:\des6.0\net80\admin.

    How do I do that?

    Go to your email provider's website and find out what the settings are supposed to be.
    Go to '''[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences_in_Windows,_Linux,_and_Mac Tools|Account Settings]'''. Scroll down to the last entry in the list of accounts, "Outgoing Server (SMTP)".
