Login Problem in OBIEE 11g.

Hi Experts,
I installed OBIEE 11g on XP. Did started BI Services and OBIEE Presentation Services login page appears and entered userid and password. It gives following error.
Unable to Sign In
An error occurred during authentication. Try again later or contact your system administrator.
Did any one got this error?? Please help me out at this point thanks..........

The GUID of user 'weblogic' does not match user reference GUID at the repository. Please ask the administrator to delete the old user reference at the repository and login again
In order to fix it I had to follow the steps to “Refresh Global Unique Identifiers (GUIDs)” from Fusion Middleware Administrator Guide. The version I am using is 11.1.1.6. The steps is slightly different for each version of OBIEE.
For 11.1.1.6, the steps to be followed are
1. Edit NQConfig.INI and change setting FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = NO to YES.
2. Edit instanceconfig.xml to enable GUID refresh on restart.

Comment out the line and add an extra line as follows:
UpdateAndExit
3. Use opmnctl to restart the process using stopall and startall
4. After restart, revert the changes. Set FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS to YES.

5. Restart the services again.
After the above steps, we were able to login successfully.

We are using OBIEE 11g
We are facing the strange issue while accessing the presentation services login page.
I had uploaded the RPD file using EM,it is working for 1 hour with out any issue.
After some time the fallowing error is coming. then we are not able to access presentation services,
I had observed all the services are down in EM>Capasity manage ment tab.
Longing screen is coming ,but after entering the credentials ,it is showing login into…but not at all opening the window.

I normally do this to fix this problem
1>Disable the network , keep the loopback adaptor enabled and then restart the services.
2> You can enable the network after services are restarted.
If you want a more practical solution and dont want to disable network again and again, then you would find the blog below useful.

Not able to login in to OBIEE 11g Analytics on windows 7

HI All,
I have installed OBIEE 11g Version 11.1.1.6.0 on linux machine but i am not able to login into Analytics Page on windows 7 Machine whereas i am able to login in Analytics through windows xp Machine. All OBIEE Services are up and Running.

Try to check sawlog0 and nqserver.log latest error message? is your BI- LDAP working previously or fresh configuration error?
Note: It dosn't matter whether it's win 7 or windows xp. i am sure some wrong in ldap or Make sure your DEV_BIPLATFORM/DEV_MDS Schema password locked/expired if yes try to unlock it then test it out.

I have set up a connection between OBIEE 11g version 11.1.1.6.0 and DB2 AS/400 V6R1.
It is working fine for most of the data types, but we have the following cast sentence in a view:

We are importing this view into OBIEE 11.1.1.6, the fileds POS_CAT and POS_DESCR are coming as BINARY, we also have tried to cast them to VARCHAR, they come as VARBINARY instead.
When we try to see the fields in a report we are getting the error below:

I have tried to cast this fileds to VARCHAR in administration, no luck, error below:

Problems installing OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit

Hi, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit (standard edition, SP2), and it's blowing up running the installer. The installer gets past the first couple of "info" screens, but blows up prior to coming to the first "real" screen with an error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Assertion Failed:

Expression: pos <= t->maxPos
Has anyone seen this and/or have an idea how to work around this? Note that I did do the prerequisite download / install of the 2005 Visual C++ 64 bit libraries.

Just to close the loop on this thread, this does indeed seem to be some sort of font / java issue on our servers. I've been completely unable to get the install to work using the GUI. However, if I run it from command line using the -silent and -response paramaters along with a proper response file, the install went perfectly. I'm going to continue working the SR with Oracle - don't want to be stuck using -silent mode when things get more complicated, but at least now I can move forward.
If anyone else has a better workaround - please let me know. "Silent" mode is workable, but difficult and time consuming.

In login page of Analytic, we have User ID and Password.
Can we add another label and textfield in login page.

Hi Prashant,
Looks like you need to validate the company name during the BI authentication process.
We all know that NQUser is for UserID and NQPassword is for Password, with your customization you need to add Text field tag in the existing form with name as Company. Till here we can go for that without any issues.
But my question is where you want to implement the validating the company name with userid and password. As of now saw.dll is going to validate the userid and password, to validate company name you need to customize the saw.dll (I dont think this can do) or else you need to validate first with your own script for given userid,pwd and company and then pass userid and pwd to saw.dll for BI authentication.

Logon problem with OBIEE 11g

I have an issue when i logon to BI 11g Admin tool in online mode trying to open the repository.The error that is popping out is below
*[nQSerror: 73006] cannot obtain oracle BI servers from either the primary cluster controller (FTLDSBLSDBX02.xyx.net:9706) or the secondary cluster controller (:)*
specified for the clustered DSN
i have checked these 2 links but of no luck. If anyone has faced such issue and solved it please provide me the same.

User Login Time in obiee 11g

we can get get the user login time using
*@{session.loginTime}*
But my requirement is to get the last login time ie., Previous login time.
How to achieve this.

Problem in Obiee 11g when using Essbase as a data source.

Hi,
I imported Essbase objects into RPD. I would like to build an report analyzing by "City" (e.g. HK) and "Channel" (e.g. Bar, Restaurant). However, this dimension combined as one dimension in Essbase. Is there any methods to separate one dimension into two in RPD? Or, is there any trick can I used to complete this task?
Btw, I have tried to duplicate the whole set of Essbase objects in RPD. Then, join the copy to the original object by using the dimension key in both object. For example, "Customer" in original object is joining to "Customer" in copied object. However, an error prompted out when I run the report by dragging the dimension and a "Fact" measure into it.
The error message as follow:

Is there any method to join an external table to Essbase object in RPD? For example, external table contain (Code, Description, Postal Code) and Essbase table contain only (Code, Description). How can I use the "Postal Code" to a report as well?

It appears that I can view in Excel through the RPD when I am accessing the RPD in offline mode. If I try to access through online mode it just says "Connection Failed".
I also tried viewing the data through Answers but received the following error:

Date problem in obiee 11g

Hi,
Our fact table is having the date on one hour interval basis.
EX: 14-AUG-2012 11:00:00 AM
14-AUG-2012 12:00:00 PM
14-AUG-2012 01:00:00 PM
The Times table we created is having day format.
EX: 14-AUG-2012 12:00:00 AM
15-AUG-2012 12:00:00 AM
16-AUG-2012 12:00:00 AM
Both columns datatype is DATE.
When we join fact table with Times table, the results are coming only for one interval per day i.e.for
14-AUG-2012 12:00:00 AM,
15-AUG-2012 12:00:00 AM,
16-AUG-2012 12:00:00 AM. The remanining 23 intervals from fact table are missing
Please help me how should I get all the 24 interval values, say by using trunc, todate function in admin tool. I cannot change the times table to one hour basis like wise in fact table.

There's no reason that joining by surrogate keys is better than joining with DATES. As a matter of fact... the Oracle database will join more efficiently with DATES than it will with NUMBERS. Tom Kyte demonstrates this time and time again on his site, but here is one example: http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:4632159445946.
Also... using WID's, as the BI Apps does, means that the fact tables can't be partitioned on DATE datatypes. That's fine for the BI Apps as a packaged solution, but that is not the optimal solution when building a custom data warehouse. DATES belong in DATE datatypes.

OBIEE 11g performance problem

I am facing a performance problem in OBIEE 11g. When I run the query taking from nqquery.log in database, it is giving me the result within few seconds. But In the OBIEE Answers the query runs forever not showing any data.

Hi Titas,
with such problems typically, at least for me, the cause turns out to be something simple and embarrassing like:
- I am connected to another database,
- The database is right but I have made some manual adjustments without committing them,
- I have got the wrong query from the query log,
- I have got the right query but my request is based on multiple queries.
Do other OBIEE reports work fine?
Have you tried removing columns one by one to see whether it makes a difference?

No user and group in console of OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I'm facing a problem in OBIEE 11g, after I login the console, in security realms, there is no user and group in it, all services has been started, and it prompt following message:
This page is not available because the necessary security providers have not been configured, or those configuration changes are pending and not yet activated. Please activate the changes and (if necessary) restart the Admin Server to make this page available.

Iam also facing the same issue i tried to configure the Microsoft Active Directory.Is it necessary to go to the enterprise manage and have to configure the virtualisation =true and user.login.attr ,after completion of all the steps that are needed in the console .I am unable to see weather it was configure successfully or not while i login to the console and there iam seeing the above issue.

We have to keep the image in this path and control of length,height,color resides in login.css file which is present in the same path.
