Long running init -- impact on delta

Hello experts,
I know that this is something of a basic question, but I'd still like someone to clarify.
The question that I have is regarding the time stamp that is set for the delta records. I have an initialization job that runs for a long time (let's say 4 hours). My question is if the timestamp for the delta is set at the start of the init job or at the end of it? If there are any transactions that occur during the time the init job is running, are they captured in the delta queue (RSA7) or do they form a part of the init job and the delta marker/timestamp is set at the end of the init job such that the new/changed records get picked up in the queue later on.
I know that the other alternative is to run an init without data transfer and get the rest of the records in full repair requests. I'd like to know the impact of the long running init job before I choose which way to go.
Thanks in advance for the responses.

Hi,
For the timestamp data sources like FI,Co you cannot maintain the safelty interval delta as this is maintained by SAP.
The table names are BWOM2_TIMEST for controlling and for FI data sources in BWOM_SETTINGS tables.
The note 416265 tells you how to change it for CO and 1012874 for FI... but SAP strongly reccomends not to change these settings.
In case of FI-CO data sources you will not be able to see the data into the delta queue as there delta records are not pushed into delta queue by SAP but are pulled by BW system when the delta is scheduled.
So even if the delta is created you cannot see it in the delta queue.
For CO data source as I told you the records which got changed 2 hours before the initialization of the data sources only will come into delta queue and will get picked into delta.
The same is maintained for FI datasources.
Thanks
Ajeet

  • Long running reports end successfully - present s "page can not be found"

Long running reports and browser timeouts - page can not be found"
We are launching Oracle 9i Reports from a Portal 9ias (release 9.0.2.2) system. We are in production with about 100 users. It is not going well with respect to Report problems.
    We have the following problems:
    1) hanging reports,
    2) reports where parameter screens will not present due to large LOV on parameter screen,
    3) and the most aggravating problem is "Page can not be found" presented to user when in fact the report ran successfully and create a .pdf.
We are at our wits end with Oracle Support and the Oracle Portal and Reports product.
As I said, I am launching Oracle Reports 9i from a Portal 9.0.2.2 application. I have several long running reports that complete successfully but return to the user an error "Page can not be found". Meta-link Note: 189454.1 suggests a modification to ReceiveTimeout parameter in the pc registry. We set the ReceiveTimeout parameter to 7200000. This did not solve the problem. Users still receive "Page can not be found".
Is there a report server side setting that we must set also ... or some other setting we should check?
I need to solve this issue. Is there someone out there that can help? Are there other people having similar Oracle Reports issues? According to Oracle Support we are the only people with these issues. Are we?

    1) If you can reproduce the Reports Hanging issue consistently you can push Oracle Support to file a bug.
    2) I am not sure about this now, but again you can take this to Oracle Support and push for resolution.
    3) There are some problems with IE - Adobe integration. This is not a Reports bug. You can try
    (a) Switching off Adobe - web integration in Adobe Acrobat reader settings, so that Adobe will not automatically open pdf file in web. Instead a dialog will be shown as to which application to open the pdf file or save it to disk and user can save the file to disk and open.
    (b) Use IE latest version. (or some other browser like Netscape )
[ You can roll back the ReceiveTimeout param change you made to see the impacts one at a time ]
    1) To confirm that this is a Adobe - IE pdf problem run the same report to htmlcss, rtf. If these come fine, then we can ascertain that this is Adobe - IE issue.
    2) Give http://host:port/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=server_name. You can see all the jobs and their jobids. For the concerned jobs you can click and see whether output is actually generated or not.
    Thanks

  • ORABPEL-05002 for long running process

    Hi everybody,
My question is related with a long running process I have designed and which, after running for a couple of days, ends by reporting the ORABPEL-05002 error:

Looking in the Manual Recovery screen, I can see an Activity I can recover. It's about an assign Activity where I'm doing a single boolean assignation.
Of course, together with the ORABPEL-05002 error I got also the 'Transaction was rolled back: time out' message. Note that I have modified the transaction-timeout value to 180000. The error occurs during the night, with no heavy load of the server.
Recovering the assign activity brings back the process in the running state.
    My process pattern:
    while (1 == 1) {
    do activity;
    wait_timeout();
So, I have the following questions:
    1. Which is cause of this error?
    2. How may I automatically recover this lost activity? RecoveryAgent?
    Any suggestion is appreciated.

These are the possible cause to the problem and their solutions:
Poor performance of the dehydration database If you are using Oracle Lite as dehydration store, please switch to use Oracle 9i or 10g. If Oracle 9i/10g is already in use, check the database parameter 'process' and 'session' to make sure it can handle the expected throughput.
OC4J has too few available connections to the dehydration database. Increase the maxConnection number of the BPELServerDataSource at the BPEL_HOME/integration/orabpel/system/appserver/oc4j/j2ee/home/config/data-sources.xml (for developer edition) or IAS_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_BPEL/config/data-sources.xml (mid-tier installation).
Size of message is too big Two ways to deal with this problem:
Increase the transaction timeout at PEL_HOME/integration/orabpel/system/appserver/oc4j/j2ee/home/config/server.xml (developer edition) or IAS_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_BPEL/config/server.xml (mid-tier installation)
Decrease the auditLevel from BPELConsole -> Manage BPEL Domain -> Configurations tab. Doing so will reduce the amount of data saved to the dehydration store.

  • Long running FI close jobs as a result of FI settlement to 3 cost objects

We are trying to gain some insight as to how we can deal with the large volume of data that is generated with PennDOTu2019s reclassification of costs in SAP (plant maintenance) and any impact this may have on system performance. Specifically, PennDOTu2019s current process requires settlement to 3 cost objects; the SAP standard is settlement to 2 cost objects. There are approximately 60 million line item transactions created each year by this process.
    More details:
IES u2013 PennDOT Settlement Process 06/24/10
Business Requirement u2013 settle to three cost objects
    1) Run SAP settlement program u2013 only settles to 2 cost objects
u2022 Three line items in COEP per G/L posting
    2) Process to settle to the third cost object
    a. Reverse cost object. This generates a CO line item.
    b. Repost to the third cost objects. This generates a CO line item.
u2022 Six line items in COEP per G/L posting
    3) Assumption: CO line items are a means to post to the third cost item (Cost Center). Only used for internal management reporting.. Not needed for any other processing or federal audit requirements.
    a. These CO line items can be uniquely identified for archiving.
    a. These CO line items can be uniquely identified for archiving. by BA, BT and text fields

  • Checking for status of a long-running BPEL process

    Hi experts,
I have one BPEL process for originating customers' loan which usually involves various steps which takes around 15-20 mins to complete per instance. I would like to implement a user interface that can check the process's progress and display how it is going to the user.
I have thought of using an asynchronous process that updates a global variable listing status of each step inside the process and use a poller to invoke another operation (like "checkStatus" operation) of this process to retrieve this variable and display the value to the users. It may be achieved by using "OnEvent" activity waiting for "checkStatus" operation. It will run in parallel with the main process, have access to the global variable and reply this variable immediately to the caller.
It sounds like an idea in theory but invoking a web service operation for polling status is very heavy-weight and may impact performance during high-load.
I am just wondering if there is other solution to this problem as I believe the status checking is a very common expected requirement in long-running BPEL process. What might be the best practice to implement this?
    Look forward to your responses.
    Thanks and regards,

    Hi.
I apologize for the slow reply. I am just back from overseas and did not have chance to go to the forum!
Thank you a lot for your responses!
The BAM looks like a suggested out-of-the-box solution. But it ties too much to Oracle API and will be hard to customise the way you want to interpret the status to end-users. If you want to display the process status with BAM in a web application interface, ADF is the only solution (please correct me if I am wrong). I would prefer a stand-alone, free of proprietary API solution so that we can build a screen that is technology-independent. As ADF UI is not our only supported view technology. For example, a PHP web client should be able to interpret the BPEL process status.
Will really appreciate your suggested solution.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Init after some deltas

    Hi Experts,
    i have a senario
We running the one info package with selection critarea company code "ABC" (init & deltas), Now we got new queriment that now we have to take another selection critarea company code "XYZ". What are the steps i have to follow in R/3 side and BW side to bring historical data and deltas from now onwords. Plz help me??
    Thanks
    Sudha

Actually, it depends on the Datasource. Anyway, let me explain with 2LIS_11_VAHDR.
    1. Perform statistical Setup at Tcode (OLI7BW) for company code XYZ.
    2. On the BW side, create a InfoPackage with selection condition for company code "XYZ", and update option as Init and schedule.
    3. Next time onwards, when you go with Delta update, the system considers both the conditions i.e ABC as well as XYZ.
Note : You can perform second init only for InfoCube. If your data target in ODS then you cannot perform Init, if already delta's are running. For this, you have to go for repair full request option.
    Thanks

When there is no data available in the source system, you will have yellow flag for the delta init request. Check for the delta queue entry (RSA7) on the source system. Delta mechanism starts working once this flag is created. After that schedule the delta infopackage.
Also check on the source system whether there is any data avilable in the application tables related to this datasource. Take the help of functional consultants if required.

    Sreenivas.

  • Populate setup table impact on delta loading

    Hi  Expert,
For a ECC standard data source supporting delta mode; Taking 2lis_03_bf for example, now DSO A is loading data from 2lis_03_bf; but there are new requirement need to load the history data from this data source. So i want to populate the setup table of 2lis_03_bf and then make a full upload to another DSO B. If i do this, any impact on delta loading to DSO A ?
In my opinion, populating the setup table is not impact on the delta loading data to DSO A ! Because delta loading is related to Delta Queue and full upload is related to setup table.
    Thanks,
    Dragon

    Hi Draco,
Are you in 3.x or 7.0 version?
This scenario needs to be addressed diffferently based on the version.
If its 3.x version, then you need to create a full repair request (Overwrite mode in DSO A) and load the data into two targets
    or
Create a full update infopack, remove tick from data target tab for DSO A and load to DSO B.
    If 7.x version.
Create a full upload info pack and extract the data into PSA and using the new DTP from PSA to DSO B.
Create another DTP on PSA to DSO A and do the inti without data transfer and run regular deltas. If you dont do this, then the DTP for DSO a will pick up the full update request from PSA in delta run.
Gurus: what are your comments on this approach?
    thanks
    Srikanth

    Matt,
A namesake of yours is my client for this issue.
Coming to the problem, the customer says there is proxy configured between HTTP server and WebSphere. This proxy server times out for long running reports. If the HTTPServer is bypassed, things work fine.
A colleague of mine opened a case with BOBJ. I can get you the case# if you need it. We got this reply:
    From: Takano, Hitomi

    Hi Matt,
I was away for the last two days, so I couldn't reply to you sooner.
Extending the timeout setting from Webi and Infoview in BOXI R2 will not
make the long running reports work as your proxy setting at the lower
layer than BOXI just allows 5 minutes and after that the connection will
be cancelled by the proxy. I'm not sure why this setting was effective
for https only or timeout out after 2 min. This is out of scope of BOXI
R2 and your network admin would be the best person to handle. You were
getting 502 error in Java Report Panel. I googled with "502 error and
ProxyTimeout", and I got the some articles returned which say  when
backend doesn't answer on requests(because it timed out), it returns to
    a client an error 502.
I'll close this thread as the n/w admin at the client are working things out.
    Thanks for your support.

  • 1st gen iPod Touch, old app no longer runs

I have a first generation iPod Touch, version 3.1.3.  About a year ago I bought an app, "Converter Plus (Universal)", and it worked fine until recently when I received notice of an update.  There were a few app updates and all loaded successfully except the Converter Plus (Universal) which gave me an error message that the software I have does not support the updated app.  I understand and accept that my old iPod Touch does not support most (almost all) new apps.  The problem, however, is that the old Converter Plus (Universal) app that worked fine for a year no longer runs.  I try to open it, the initial screen pops up but shuts down right away.  I can only assume that when the recent update was attempted but failed it somehow messed up the old app.  Is there any way to restore the old version of the app so I can go back to using it?  The app only cost $1.99 so it is hardly the end of the world if I cannot use it any more, but I am worried all my other older apps (some of which receive regular updates) might also stop working and that just seems wrong to me.  Feels like I am being robbed.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try deleting the version of that app that is in your iTunes library. Then do the following:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Then delete the app from your iPod and sync the app back to your iPod and see if it works.
    - Next try restoring from backup. Make sure that all the apps that are compatible with 3.1.3 are in your iTunes library so they can be synced back as part of the restore from backup.
    - Last, restore to factory settings/new iPod and sync your media to the iPod.

  • Impact of Delta Records on Key Figure Summation in DSO

    Hi experts,
I have a key figure with aggregation type "summation" in a DSO. I would like to know the impact of delta records on the key figure.
    E.g.
    source DSO
    doc_id (key) | doc_pos | type | amount
    4711 | 1 | A | 100 USD
    4711 | 2 | B | 20 USD
    target DSO
    doc_id (key) | amount
    4711 | 120 USD
If the first record is modified ("type" from A to C) as follows and delta-loaded to target DSO:
    4711 | 1 | C | 100 USD
This will lead to incorrect amount:
    target DSO
    doc_id (key) | amount
    4711 | 220 USD
How can I handle this situation?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Meng

    Hi..
I believe one document number and document Item will have only one type.
    Like 4711      1    should have only one type ( A / B / C).
If the above assumption is true then just remove Doc Type from Key field of source DSO.
Then From Source to Target Change Log table can handle this.
    Regards

  • We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required

We have two users that have been using Creative Cloud for almost a year. Recently, sometime in the last 4ish weeks, the users can no longer run Creative Cloud apps. (Yes, our subscription is paid.) Error simply says administrator access is required to install. The apps have already been installed. The users cannot run them unless they are in the local admin group.Using "Run as admin" does not work. It gives the same error.
I have opened a case with adobe support and was basically told to suck it up and put the users in the admin group. Actually, what was said was that it is "mandated that the users have administrative rights".
There are a couple of things wrong with this. It was working for both users until recently - a recent required creative cloud update. The users have never been local admins yet the apps were working (poorly, but working).
We are in an enterprise environment and users simply do not have administrative rights on the computers.
I have changed permissions on all adobe folders, granting users or authenticated users modify or full control rights, did the same in whatever Adobe registry HKLM keys I could find. Nothing has allowed the users to run the apps - unless they are put in the local admin group.
Someone has to have a fix for this. Adobe apps have proved to have far too many vunerabilities to even entertain the idea of elevating user rights. I can't imagine that enterprise environments are allowing this.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Jeff,
Thank you for your response. The users in question are "standard" domain users. We do not reduce users permissions below the standard level.
The apps do not load with their current standard user permissions.
The thing that makes this odd, is that up until recently they did this issue with cloud apps. The only way I can make it work for them now is to put them in the local administrator group on their pc's - which is not going to happen.
This is what they now see. As I said before, this was not a problem up until recently they would see all their available apps. If I put them in the local admin group the apps are listed without having to install. Everything is there, just not accessible to the user.

    Hi Jon,
    <br><br>

You can set the maxConnections which represents the Maximum number of connections in the pool in oc4j-ra.xml.
Please refer to the section Oracle Application Server Adapter for Databases in Oracle® BPEL Process Manager Developer's Guide
