Looking to partition BSEG table in 46C

The SAP partitioning engine isn't available in 46C but I need to partition my BSEG table (currently 1072GB).
I am looking for the "partitioning key" to use on this table.
Can anybody provide an example of their DDL to give me a starting point.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Paul,
By the way as far as I know that Oracle does not support
partitioning of clustered tables or indexes on clustered tables.
Did you checked my statement? RFBLG is a cluster table.
When you try to create a partition on this table you will face with "ORA-14085: partitioned table cannot have column with LONG datatype" error. It has a LONG RAW field.

    Hi,
1.- According to SAP Note 904652 - MIRO: Different from FB60
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/904652
MIRO is an independent Materials Management (MM) transaction that does not
claim to be the same as the accounting transactions (such as FB60 or FB01).
MIRO was developed to allow users to process vendor invoices within the
context of the MM procurement processes as simply as possible.
For this reason, among other differences, the field selection was limited
to the absolutely necessary. For example, the following fields from the
accounting document are not available in Transaction MIRO (this list is not
    complete):
    Reference key (BSEG-XREF1, -XREF 2, -XREF 3)
2.- SAP Note 1156325 - BAdIs in the Logistics Invoice Verification environment
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1156325
Have a look at badi MRM_ITEM_CUSTFIELDS.
This badi will create a new tab at item level in order to display the new fields.
I haven´t used this badi so i cannot talk from experience here.
    Think twice before deciding.
    Best regards.

Looks like you don't have partition license or don't have a complete install of Oracle version 8.0.5. The best way to check is do a sqlplus user/passwd and look for a message that said "Production with the Partitioning and objects options" to appear before the SQL> prompt. Hope this helps....

  • How to improve performance by pulling data instead of BSEG table?

    Hi,
We are facing issue in which we have to pull material no for some non copa postings.
But if we use BSEG table then serious performance issues are coming up..
so are there any other tables / combination of tables that we can look for instead of BSEG?

    Hi,
BSEG is Cluster table, you can only select with key fields.
    if you have a select:
select belnr budat wrbtr from bseg
              into table it_bseg
               where bukrs = bukrs
                   and belnr = belnr
                   and gjahr = gjahr
                   and bschl = 31.
it's much better to select of this way:
select belnr budat wrbtr from bseg
              into table it_bseg
               where bukrs = bukrs
                   and belnr = belnr
                   and gjahr = gjahr.
delete it_bseg where bschl ne '31'.

  • Partitioning A table on a data column

    Hi,
My requirement is to partition a table using a column with DATE datatype.
    Example:
    CREATE TABLE parttab
STATUS CHAR(1) DEFAULT 'a' NOT NULL,
    UPDATER VARCHAR2(55) NOT NULL,
UPDTIME DATE DEFAULT SYSDATE NOT NULL
    TABLESPACE part_tbs
Now i want to RANGE partition the above table on the "UPDTIME" column, so that it will look like:
    Partition Value from Value till
    P1 01-Jan 31-Mar
    P2 01-Apr 30-Jun
    P3 01-Jul 30-Sep
    P4 MAXVALUE
I tried using the below syntax, but failed with error.
    CREATE TABLE parttab
STATUS CHAR(1) DEFAULT 'a' NOT NULL,
    UPDATER VARCHAR2(55) NOT NULL,
UPDTIME DATE DEFAULT SYSDATE NOT NULL
    TABLESPACE part_tbs

    PARTITION BY RANGE (UPDTIME)
PARTITION P1 VALUES LESS THAN (to_date('04','MM')) LOGGING COMPRESS TABLESPACE part_tbs_P1,
PARTITION P2 VALUES LESS THAN (to_date('07','DD-MM')) LOGGING COMPRESS TABLESPACE part_tbs_P2,
PARTITION P3 VALUES LESS THAN (to_date('10','DD-MM')) LOGGING COMPRESS TABLESPACE part_tbs_P3,
PARTITION P4 VALUES LESS THAN (MAXVALUE) LOGGING COMPRESS TABLESPACE part_tbs_P4
    COMPRESS
    NOCACHE
    PARALLEL ( DEGREE 2 INSTANCES Default )
    ROWDEPENDENCIES
    NOMONITORING
    ENABLE ROW MOVEMENT;

  • Repalcement of  Bseg table

    HI,
I am using Bseg table in one of my report, but it takes too much time to execute. SO am looking for any alternative table for BSEG table. Can Any one Please Help to sort out this problem.
    Thanks
    Imran

BSEG always gives performance issue if you do not have indexed key fields in where condition.
    1. do not try to pass every available field in where condition, only use indexed fields in where condition. you may select more data in internal table & then filter fron internal table.
    2. if do not have index fields , them write select statements on other secondary indexed tables like
BSAD,BSAK,BSAS,BSID,BSIK,BSIS  get all required fields & then write select on BSEG.
If you have proper where condition then select on BSEG is quite fast.

  • Update Bseg table for one field (Functional Area)

    Dear all
I need to update function area in bseg table for existing records. How can i modify for that particular field without using update command. Is any BAPI is there for update document no. I have Lakhs records. So is any other way to modify that field.
This is happening in production. please give your valuable guide how to do it?

I'm not sure it is advisable to perform, take a look at OSS [Note 966428 - FB02: Functional area (FKBER) can be changed on coding block|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/966428],*this note seems to imply that this area should not be changed..
Look alsio to Customizing (SPRO) Financial Accounting, Financial Accounting Global Settings, Document, Line Item, Document Change Rules, Line Item.
Keep in mind that this field is replicated from FI line items to other applications and tables.
If you must perform this change at you own risk, you may build a huge batch-input based on FB02 or FB09 transactions. Another solution is to reverse the documents and then post again those documents with functional area.

  • BSEG Table maintenance

    Dear SD Gurus,
We are not able to see entries related to Material and material quantity in BSEG table. I am not sure why these entries are not coming in this table.
As far as my knowledge goes BSEG table is a cluster table and an important part of the Accounting Document Segment.
It comes in picture whenever there is a movement type of material such as 601 is involved i.e. at the time of PGI or PGR, i have my doubts over  u201Chow it is skipping data insertion in this table?u201D
Could anybody let me know from where and how BSEG table fatched material and its quantity.

    Dont offer anything

Its happening after transporting some requests in Dec 2010
In that case, you need to take the list of those requests and check which particular request relates to changes in SD table that parallely affects BSEG table.
You can also check from document flow for that  Accounting document whether values are posted correctly in FI.  As a random test, take a billing document for which an Accounting document is generated and check in FB03 how many line items are flowing.  Next go to SE16 / BSEG and check whether you could see all those line items in this table.
Meanwhile, you can also check from those transport requests what changes were made in which SD tables.
Perhaps, you can also have a look at the following notes which may help you.
    1)  Note 10083 - BSIS missing for G/L account
    2)  Note 401646 - New DataSources for Line Items from FI-GL, FI-AP, FI-AR
    3)  Note 416076 - SELECT FOR UPDATE does not lock cluster tables
    4)  Note 608340 - SAP Cons.: No quantity update in subsequent posting from FI
    5)  Note 677630 - Correcting functional areas in FI documents
    6)  Note 685688 - Release of "old" invoices as of SAP R/3 Enterprise
    7)  Note 1497911 - F-26: All items not selected
In case, you could find out the root cause, please update the forum without fail which will be very helpful to all.

  • Partitioning Fact Tables -- experiences, notes, documentation

I have gone through section 3.8 of the OBIA Installation and Configuration Guide -- "Partitioning Guidelines for Large Fact Tables".
Frankly, I find that documentation inadequate and using a poor example.
I am looking at partitioning W_GL_BALANCE_F . In this table, BALANCE_DT_WID seems to be a Partitioning Key. With 24 months data and only Month-End balances I have only 24 distinct keys. Therefore, this would be a LIST PARTITIONING Key.
I can and have rebuilt the table as a partitioned table. And am proceeding with the DAC changes as per the documentation. However, I am looking for real world implementations, documentations, notes, experiences.
    Hemant K Chitale

    Thanks.
Information like BUs, Companies, Ledgers etc from the source Financials systems are Dimensions when extracted. So they go into W_INT_ORG_D and W_LEDGER_D (for example) and the ROW_WIDs generated for the ORG_NAME and LEDGER_NAME is the join key to the Fact table (W_GL_BALANCE_F). So these might be partition keys but we'd have to identify the generated values (ROW_IDs becoming COMPANY_ORG_WID and LEDGER_WID) before defining the partition keys. That can be done only after the data is loaded ?.
How did you partition by BU ?

  • Partitioning Fact Table

    Hi
In our data warehouse we have a Fact table which has grown quite a large in size around 17 million records. We have been pondering on the options to partition this table.
Unfortunately this fact table does not have any date columns , all columns are surrogate keys of dimensions, even for time dimensions. My idea is to partition by range by manually specifying the surrogate key ranges of time dimension. Is that the way one proced with?
Other option is to, add a new column to the Fact Table and populate with the corresponding "ddmmyyyy" in number format and use that one to partition the table. If I go with this approach, if in my reports / queries if I use the dimension key to join between the Fact and Dimension, will oracle still identify which partition to look for? Or do I MUST use the partitioned column in the queries for partition pruning to be effective.
    Any thoughts would be useful.
    Regards
    Mahesh

if in my reports / queries if I use the dimension key to join between the Fact and Dimension, will oracle still identify which partition to look for? No the oracle will not use the Partition Prunning in this case.
Or do I MUST use the partitioned column in the queries for partition pruning to be effective.yes , you need to use the partitioned column for partition pruning to be effective.

  • Partition of table in real life

    Hi all
i have read about partition of table.
but i have lot of question in this topic.
    1.which one is better
    range partiting
    hash "
    list "
    composite "
2.how we can use partition in select statment
when we don't know about the partition values.
suppose partition acc to month in table
and user enter his rollno to see its details then
how we can give details to user acc to his rollno
plz give e.g in which partiting is use
3.partition is userful in oltp system or both (oltp+dss)
4.partition gives benefit for report creation or not.
    thanks all
    kuljeet pal singh

    1) If one partitioning method were better, Oracle wouldn't have all three options. Each type of partitioning is appropriate in some instances and inappropriate in others.
    2) I'm really not sure what you're asking here. Can you rephrase the question? Also, can you explain the abbreviations "acc" and "rollno"?
    3) Partitioning can be useful in all types of systems. Different types of systems, though, tend to be interested in different partitioning benefits. Data warehouses tend to look at partitioning as much for the managability benefits (decreasing backup times, simplifying maintenance tasks, etc) as for the performance benefits. OLTP systems are less interested in the managability benefits.
    4) Partitioning may or may not speed up report creation. It depends upon the partitioning method, the data distribution, the access patterns of the report, and a number of other variables.

  • Partitioning the table ...

I have procedure which inserts the data based on sysdate (everyday). I have partitioned the table using partition by list i have created 31 partitions on this table.
say for example if tis 8th of sep then the partition will be xyz_08 and tommorow will be xyz_09 similarly i have 31 partitions.
I was trying to insert manually by changing sys dates for example like sysdate -1, sysdate -2, sysdate -3 and so on. And it worked absolutely fine
My requirement :- is once its reaches to 31st partition then it has to drop the 1st partition and so on it continues by droping old partitions everyday once its inserted with the latest partition.
    my questions
    - how do incorporate a logic of adding partitions everyday ?
    - how to drop the oldest partition(1st partition ) when it reaches the 31 partition ?
    - do i need to use cursors and for loop to archive this both above tasks ?
Any logic with example would be great. Sample code will be wonderful ??
Thank you so much i appreciate it. !!!

    user642297 wrote:
let me share my code how i am implementing the partition by list ...Please use the *\* tag before and after a sample code block (or database output) that you post. This formats the code properly (as predefined text output) and is a lot easier on the eye to read. (yes - copy the tag exactly as you see it here and paste it into your posting).
In my previous posting i mentioned about the droping the partition. But thats not the right way i guess. Because if i drop the partition then the data will not be loaded in the same partition next time since that partition will be dropped.
The best way would be truncating the partition i guess. so next time we can load the data in the same partition ....
Correct. You can simply truncate the partition to empty it and ready if for a new data set. However, as already mentioned, a range partition and not a list partition may be more suitable.
One of the great features of partitioning is called +partition pruning+. This means Oracle, at run-time, figures out what partitions to use, and what partitions to ignore, for a specific SQL query. As the data is date based. it makes more sense to use a date range partition - this allows pruning to happen when you look for data for a specific date or date range. With a list partition, you need to use the list column as is as a predicate... and it will be unusual to construct queries that only look at the day number and not as the date as a whole.
    few more questions
    - if i drop the table, will partitions will also be dropped automatically ? or do i need to explicitly drop the partitions before dropping the table ?
Yes. Partitions is part of the table (these are physical storage containers for the data). Drop the table. Partitions gone.
    - how would i drop all the partitions at once ???
By dropping the table. You cannot drop all partitions either - at least one partition must remain behind as a table needs a "+storage container+". It cannot be a table without a means of storing the data inserted into the table somewhere.
i know i can use ALTER TABLE TABLE_NAME DROP PARTITION PARTITION_NAME. This only drops the particular partition but not all the partitions right????
    Correct.

  • Difference between Downpayment and normal invoice in updating BSEG table

    Hi,
I created 2 different documents, 1 invoice via FB60 and 1 downpayment request between F-47.
After which i perform a payment run via F110 on both documents and i realised that the bank account id for the document created via F-47 is not updated in the field HBKID for the BSEG table. However, HBKID is updated for the invoice created via FB60.
I would like to if this is correct or if there is any config i need to perform for the HBKID field to be updated for document created via F-47.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please, look at the following note 524942. It should solve your problem...

  • Should we have to mention tablespace while we partition a table???

Should we have to mention our new tablespace while we partition a table???

You can create a table with multiple partitions and put all each those partitions into one tablespace
Take a look at this example:
    http://www.oracle-dba-online.com/sql/oracle_table_partition.htm
    And from Documentation:
Although you are not required to keep each table or index partition (or subpartition) in a separate tablespace, it is to your advantage to do so. Storing partitions in separate tablespaces enables you to:
Reduce the possibility of data corruption in multiple partitions
Back up and recover each partition independently
Control the mapping of partitions to disk drives (important for balancing I/O load)
    Improve manageability, availability, and performance
